Hi all,
I will be travelling from the UK in November and was wondering which airline to use.I have a choice from;Delta,USAirways,United,American or Continental.
I would appreciate your views on which you think are the best to use.
Many thanks.
Sean.

Of the airlines mentioned, I would certainly chose Continental. Great customer service and new equipment.

I like both American (due to more legroom) and United (good customer service experiences and more legroom if you can talk them into letting you into the coach-plus section). I have no experience with Continental or U.S. Airways, and Delta was terrible the one time we flew them.

I always fly US Airways. Their transatlantic fleet includes Airbus A330-300 Jets - these are a dream to fly on! Very comfy, and all seats have a personal television. The three connection airports that you could use would be Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte. Pittsburgh has lots of shopping (they have the Air Mall), and a nice assortment of restaurants. Orlando flights are usually on Airbus A319/321 and Boeing 757 Jets (both are nice).
I would check the airline web sites and see what type of aircraft is being provided on various flights you might take. I realize this can change but I would suggest a 777 or one of the larger Airbus models (340) to ensure room and comfort. I think this will make more difference to you than the particular airline you choose.

I can't confirm this, but I had a friend who just flew on the American 777, she said they fly faster so the flight is shorter. (Personally I only fly American when I have no choice and I love Delta) The real truth is that NONE of the US based carriers are great on customer service. (Yes, I have flown them ALL!!!) If you post a question like this you seem to get at least one horror story per airline.

I would not fly United Airlines!
I just flew with them for the first time this past June. I flew to Canada for a cruise to Alaska.
On my way to Canada, they lost some of my luggage. They also lost 6 other people's luggage that were on the same flight I was!
On the way back home, we were delayed 30 minutes before we left the airport. After flying for 5 hrs, we couldn't land the plane b/c of weather, so we were rerouted back to Canada.
We spent the night in the airport and dealt with employees who did not know what was going on. United did not put us up in a hotel. They told us that we were on our own for the evening.
The next morning after going back through customs, we had to get our luggage back on the belt, and get on the plane. (Big ordeal with security).
When I finally arrived back in Chicago to take a connecting flight to my final destination city, I found out that there was no pilot for our flight! They also didn't have my new ticket in the computer for when I checked in to board. ( I had to arrange a new connecting flight since I was stranded in the airport the night before).
We finally got on the plane and the pilot shows up, but then he says it will be a little bit longer before we can take off b/c the plane needed to be refueled! It had sat at the terminal for two hours prior to flight time and it wasn't refueled!
I finally made it to where I needed to go, but I will never fly with United Airlines again. They are very unorganized.
I will stick with Delta or Southwest. They always provide good service and are on time!
