a couple sites i used to post photos on have started featuring erotic photos that aren't censored( ie it just comes up, you can't choose to block it)
that is not the image i want to convey so i took my stuff off but wonder what others feel about it. the site i have my stuff on now has some nudes but you can block them so they don't come up.
imo it should be either family friendly/blockable or not family friendly so you know what you are getting, not just a mix like that.
one guy i had exchanged links with asked me why i took his link off. it started off a nature site ie birds and foxes, then went 90% erotic/nudes. he seemed to feel i was way over board . now his site comes up with a slide show of only nudes when you open it. they aren't really "erotic" but none the less it would appear to others (imo) that is what the site features... i guess that is still some sort of nature just not the same sort of nature i want my granddaughter browsing through:rotfl:

No, I would not post on a site that features photos that were not family friendly. But, that's just me. Even though they were not my photos, I still wouldn't want that association.

I agree you should have the option to block it and it should not just pop up without any filters for those who do not wish to have those types of photos coming up especially if you are using that site for hosting/marketing of your own photos. For me personally its not a problem if they come up .. I think all photos have some artistic merit and there are no children with access to my computers to be concerned about. If the site's content has changed to something you are uncomfortable with I dont blame you for pulling your photos and who cares what the other guy thinks about your actions.

Nude photos have been considered an art for about ever. Some however cross the line from art to erotic to downright porn. If your site can't determine the difference in those then I would choose another site. I visit a lot of art and photo shows and take my kids with me. There are plenty of nudes on display but are rather tasteful mainly just accenting shapes of the human body. Never have they had anything else. I doubt the organizers of the show would allow that. Your website shouldn't allow that either unless it is one of the kinds of sites. If people want to see nudity or porn there are plenty of sites to see that on the net. So I would say if you are not comfortable with your site then I would definetly go to another.

I think as a photographer you have to be EXTREMELY careful about how you present your work. I have both my blog and website linked in my siggy here, but I have an entirely different brand that I definitely don't link on this board. Why? Because it's not appropriate (not that it's offensive, just not appropriate) for anyone in the under-18 set to be looking. This place isn't where I want to share those photos, so why make them easily available?
However, if you are sharing on a photography-specific site, where you have a lot of artists sharing all in one spot (and no expectation of the under-18 set looking at the photos), then I think it's a free-for-all in terms of content.
Everyone has a different level of what they find offensive and artistic.
I think as long as the content is there in a way that is segregated and easily filtered out then it is fine. I post on Flickr and Dgrin which both have adult sections and content. I also post on Nikon Cafe which is so 'family friendly' crazed they would delete half the 'Which DSLR' threads that get going on the DIS- they even took down a funny (AKA- INAPROPRIATE CONTENT) picture of my father with his finger raised. (What can I say- the man is going to be 70 next year and does not like his picture taken. :confused3) That type of overzealousness can be more annoying than anything to me.

it's not my site or one i pay to use , they are some photographers that have their own work on their sites but that allow you to post photos and/or a link to your site
i think most sites allow some nudes or bordering on "adult" photos but some just imo cross the line, especially the free ones. main reason i stopped using photobucket is if it opened on any place other than my own page it seemed to always have one or two that would pop up that made me drop my teeth . don't know if that is still the case or not but it sure isn't something i want someone to think i directed them to. if someone wants to see that, that is their option but i should be allowed not to be forced for me or my clients to see it as well imo.
but i agree with the above poster, i just don't think it's very professional to subject someone to that (unless that is the clientele you are after)

The other thing that I factor in is that my kids are always wanting to see my photos on the computer. So, I want to be sure that what they see is what I expect them to see.

I dunno. One on hand, if it is just attractive female nudes, I wouldn't be bothered. If it had pictures of nekkid men, I'd get the heck out of there. That sort of thing shouldn't be allowed.
