Has anyone used this flight: Halifax to Orlando via Newark and if so do you have to go through security again in Newark or can you stay within the secure area between flights ?

Usually use United to Washington DC but I guess they've changed it to go to Chicago instead.

You'll do customs in Halifax, and then just transfer to your gate in Newark I think. I did that route before they opened up pre clearance in Halifax, we went through customs in Newart and then just made out way to the gate. We fly Delta last year through JFK and didn't have to leave the secure area

we're going through newark on our trip. i've been told we get off and just go to our next gate. thankfully- atleast as of now we come in and leave the same terminal.

Thanks, guys, I was hoping for that. It's not too bad when it's just the two of us but when you have to go through security with kids it gets to be a hassle.

We've done it before so I know it's a hassle , once is enough per one way trip. There will be 5 little grandkids (and parents) with us and we're hoping just to have to get everyone through security in Halifax and not have to do it again in Newark.

I've flown Continental through Newark at least 8 times in the past few years.

You won't have to go through security again in Newark. You might have to change terminals but it's really easy and fast: there's a little waiting room just like a gate to get on a plane where you wait for a shuttle bus, all within the past-security area. The buses are never more than 10 minutes or so wait.

The Newark past-security area is big and has tons of shopping and restaurants, if you end up with a long layover.
