I'm thinking of getting a new camera in time for my holiday (in september), unfortunately i don't have the money to get an extremely nice one (DSLR) plus i like the smaller point & shoots as they are so much easier to carry around :)

I've been looking at the Canon IXUS 95IS (i think its called Powershot SD1200 in the USA) or the Panasonic Lumix FS25, any feedback on either of these?
At the moment i have a fujifilm finepix Z10FD so want something thats going to be an improvement from that, will either camera i'm thinking about be better or about the same quality pictures (no point in replacing my current camera with something that isn't going to be any better)?

I would highly recommend the Canon powershot. I have been very pleased with the picture quality and the ease of use. My husband has a Canon SLR and while a point and shoot is obviously not ever going to be as good--the picture quality is definitely comparable. Hope this helps!

Thanks, think i'm going to go with the Canon :0
Do you have the same model? i don't suppose you have any photos to look at taken with it? how is it for night shots?

Not to burst your bubble, but it is somewhat unlikely to gain that much of an advantage in night photography or other low-light situations with another point and shoot.

I'll look for the links, but in the past 3 weeks, a member explained the differences in sensor size among the p n s cameras and the dslr and discussed the impact on low-light photography.

However, according to this report, one p n s does a better job of low-light than others. You might research that one a bit.
