Hello Everyone! :flower3:
I decided to start a PJ. Even though I am doing a vow renewal this is like a real wedding for us since we went to the local court house. I consider myself unconventional and a non-traditional Bride in some aspects, so you may find yourself chuckling at my thoughts. Now for the details:
Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 10 am
Ceremony: Sea Breeze Point
Reception: Flying Fish
Dessert Party: UK Lower
Total Guests: 25 (this includes us)
Caricature Artist: Rafael Diez (cartoonyou.net)
Officiant: Rev. Randal Miller
I think this covers the basics. :goodvibes

Well that was a quick read. Patiently waiting for more! :rotfl:
P.S. - Can't wait to hear how the caricature artist goes. When I get hitched, I hope to have one too!

I decided to do a trash the wedding dress shoot. Now I'm not using the wedding dress I'm wearing but a cheap version of a wedding dress. I inquired with Disney about having it done at Typhoon Lagoon. I was told I would have to have a lifeguard. That is an additional $100. I'm still waiting to hear back from Rosie on the cost of this shoot. Then I read on the DIS about inquiring with Randy. Duh! Randy said he loves to do these types of shoots and the cost would be $250. So I am going to do it with Randy but at Stormalong Bay. I think that pool will lend itself for some creative shots. Getting photos at Typhoon Lagoon would be cool and I was told DPS can even go underwater with their cameras! :thumbsup2 I am spending a majority of our budget on photography since this is a once in a lifetime experience and I don't want to look back and say "I wish we had photos taken here."
I think this photo shoot will be fun. I'm thinking I should do this on the last day before we leave Florida to go home. I'm set with Randy, I'll see what Rosie has to say. I'm not sure if this photo shoot should just be my Husband and I or if I should bring the kids too and make it a family shot. What's funny about this photo shoot is I'm not a swimmer. That should be fun,
At Stormalong Bay I would love pics on the tub going around the lazy river. What other kind of action shots can I do at Stormalong Bay? :surfweb:

His rates are MUCH LOWER than Disney. I wanted to get him for 3 hours and was going to have him for the first hour at SBP. The last 2 hours at the Flying Fish. I originally told my WC I wanted a caricature artist. I didn't hear back about prices or the Artist "officially" being booked in a timely manner (IMO). So I went ahead and booked Rafael. When I shared this piece of news with my WC I was told I am unable to have him at SBP since he is an outside vendor/entertainment. So I now have him for 2 hours at Flying Fish.
For an additional fee he can take care of having the tubs or folders to put the pictures he draws in. I told him I would go with him to take care of that. One less thing I have to worry about. What is great about Rafael, he is also an Artist...as in oil paintings. I'm thinking of surprising my Husband with an original painting. I don't know if it should be me, him or the both of us. Ah, another decision to make. I would love to get him a motorcycle but not this year with this VR.

This was the hardest decision to make. But in the end I decided if I am going to do a Disney wedding, I need to do it right. We are paying for this wedding ourselves and NOT using credit cards. Anyway, I asked about switching the horses out on the Coach. In the movie Cinderella the 6 horses were grand Steeds. The size of the horse they use for the Landau I asked if we could use 2-3 horses that size. I was told because of the design of the Coach it is made for the 6 white horses. Those are not horses, mini horses, but not horses in the sense that I think of a horse. Plus the flimsy excuse I received doesn't fit the bill for me. Think of Little house on the prairie they have a big wagon with regular horses. I digress :rotfl:
I love horses but didn't go with the Landau because I can do that anywhere. So with the regular Coach I go. So I asked if it could be decorated. I mean if I have to be stuck with those 6 white horses I have to jazz it up somehow. I really LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Cinderella's Coach at Disneyland. If they could have that at WDW I think a lot of brides would be happier...(no I'm not psychic) :surfweb:
With inspiration from the Disneyland Coach I wanted to decorate this one. In case you didn't know you can have a swag on the back of the Coach for $250. You can also have a swag or some type of floral display over each entrance for $150 a piece. Now I know I'm not going to do a swag on the back, but will do a Happily Ever After sign on the back (very cheap). I told my WC I only wanted to do one entrance (save on cost) but was told in pictures it could look awkward. What do you think?
I wish I could ride in the Coach at night with it all lit up. Can't win them all. One thing I want to do is get as many pictures on the Coach, in the coach, around the coach, with the horses. I would love a shot sitting up top as if I was driving the coach with one of the footman. That is probably a "no no" shot. I hope I can get it though...seriously.

I thought even though my Bridesmaids said "yes" I would surprise them with something creative to commemorate this special event. I had Will You Be My Bridesmaids cards made for them and sent it to them as a surprise. They loved it! Here is what the outside looked like:

I have a variety of themes going on. I'm doing beach/zen/asian/morocco/indian theme. I am mixing culture and a variety of what inspires us. Doing this I have had to reach out to other brides to inquire to make sure I bring honor as well as do research on my own. I look forward to our event. I'm looking to incorporate aspects of the following inspirational pics (I have a load for each theme!):

I decided to do something a little different and to go along with one of the many themes I chose. I sent out a message in a bottle save the dates. Here is what it looks like:

I then had our names and vow renewal date engraved on the bottle.
I'm thinking of doing the following bottle as a thank you for coming, it goes with the Moroccan theme:

I wanted to have any of the following characters:
Princess Jasmine
Fairy Godmother
Genie
Pocahontas
Mulan
However, due to the fact it is outside their environment I can't. I also wanted to play Bibbitti Bobbiti Boo while riding in Cinderella's Coach out loud and was told "no." Not loud as in blasting but music gets me in the mood. Anyway, there is an image they have to uphold. Who knew playing the original song would be an issue :headache:

I think I have narrowed down who I should partner with to do the mehndi art for my wedding day. I also followed someone's tip about checking with my WC because they have people in Morocco (Epcot) who do this type of work. My WC followed up with Entertainment about it and I think I will hear good news. I'm bracing for the pricing and semantics. Whoever suggested to check with my WC thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2
I am looking to get my feet done and upper arm. I am also looking to wear the traditional hair jewelry. I'm not set on this design but give you an idea of what I am looking to do:

I know I want to have the sorbet. Since we don't get a tasting session, I think I will go with Mango. The presentation is awesome. I have specifically requested for the Chef at the Boardwalk to come up with a "soul food" menu. I'm going to do brunch. So I think we are lasering in on specifics, the main point is to stay within a reasonable budget. I am excited to have it at the Flying Fish. I have never been inside but from the pics I saw from Lurkyloo and the fact I don't have to pay extra for transportation costs (I really wanted Narcoossees) I think this goes with our fun and non-traditional theme. Plus they have this tent thing I want to incorporate into our theme.

That was my plan (maybe I even inspired you.....) and my big idea was to float around in tubes as well!! We decided in the end we are going to do it at AKL-Kidani, so that we can get some pics in the lobby too! Anyway, I thought it would be funny to like build a sand castle in stormalong bay in the sandy area (especially if you have kids with you!!). Have you seen the link I posted awhile ago to some of Randy's trash the dress shoots? Maybe it will inspire you!
Anyway, I'm really glad you started a PJ! I have seen you post a lot and wondered if you had one! I think the Flying Fish is great! I may have to copy you on that one if DFTW will let me :rotfl:

It sounds great. I love the all the bling. My DH and I and our 2 kids are are going the 17th -27th of Dec and doing a VR off property for our 10 yr. then doing dinner and fireworks cruise. Where are you staying? We are staying at WL then BLT. If we didn't just buy DVC we would have done an escape. We eloped in VT.

It was YOU who inspired me and told me about Randy being able to do that type of photo shoot! Thank you very much!! Your photo shoot at AKL is going to look awesome. I'm staying at AKL mainly because I really wanted unique pictures and the lobby ROCKS too. I can't wait to see your pics. I like the idea of building a sand castle, I will have to take that idea from you too! I went to Randy's blog and saw a trash the dress shoot, did he do others? Is there another link?
I think the Flying Fish is one of those locations that isn't advertised. My WC suggested the location since I didn't want to spend unnecessary money on transportation and had no other ideas. She checked it out and I was granted permission to use the location. Then I asked on the DIS what it looked liked inside since DFTW had no pics to send and Lurkyloo posted her pics. I fell in love with the place (even though I love Narcoossees) and decided. I think the Flying Fish doesn't have to have a lot of decorations because of the theming. I still want to do something creative with the tent area.

Congrats on your vow renewal and more importantly 10 years! I'm staying at AKL Villas and then the Yacht Club. I'm hoping I will be able to get a room at the Contemporary too. We would love to go to V & A and just take the monorail back to the hotel and enjoy the view.
Kudos to you on BLT, I bet it is beautiful!

Let's keep inspiring each other than :goodvibes I really wanted the Attic (same reason as you, cut out transportation) but the mins are so high for Escape's. When I saw pictures of the Flying Fish, I thought it looked amazing, so I really hope I can get in there as well.
And speaking of inspiring each other.....are you doing an Escape? (I'm pretty sure I read you were). If so, how did you get UK Lower? My DF saw pics of it and is determined to get it, but I told him we couldn't! He would die and go to heaven if we could get it!

I would love to keep inspiring one another. Dare to be different, you know? ;) Let's keep the ideas coming  Yes, I am doing an Escape. I wish Disney would recognize that one size fits doesn't apply to everyone. I have additional guests that will NOT be at the ceremony site. However, you can have as many people at the "reception" and dessert party as you want. No limitation. I have additional guests and children that will be at the reception and dessert party. This is how I was able to meet the quota of guests to get UK Lower. Everyone who is coming to our Escape VR understands I am unable to have everyone at the ceremony, but they are delighted to share in the Escape reception and dessert party. So I was transparent and told individuals this in advance. The additional guests are boyfriends, spouses and children/teenagers. HTH :goodvibes
Also, I am paying to have 5 additional guests $500 so I can have them at the ceremony site.

I found out today I am unable to get the ring bearer coach from Disneyland Tokyo. It is only for those who get married at Disneyland Tokyo...it's exclusive. My reasoning is it is the same company..DISNEY. I digress. I'll look for something else unique to use. In the end it may just be a ring pillow.

Well, it looks like I will be going to Filene's Running of the Brides by myself. Everyone who was going to come and confirmed has suddenly become unavailable. It is July 31st, I'll see what I find. I have to make a decision on a dress soon. Davids Bridal said I need to order by August in order to make sure it comes back in time. I am looking at Maggie Sottero too. I hope to have THE dress before the end of August.

I've been perusing the internet looking for wedding invitations. I narrowed my choices down to:
www.passionpaper.com and www.myperosonalartist.com
Then by accident I came upon a website that did DVD Wedding Invitations! BINGO! Something more personal and so us. Some of the companies do the photo montages to music with the information about the wedding. Some do this plus video. But all include a hard copy wedding invitation with RSVP card. So I decided I'm going to do this but have to find a company whose hard copy invitations look elegant. The price range for everything is all across the board. :surfweb:

There are so many companies out there who do it. If you do a Goggle search a lot of them have free demos of video they have done for other brides. I will be able to show my video on another forum (Disneymooners). It is more private. However, this is the company I decided to go with:
http://www.mydvdinvitation.com/videos.htm
I'm doing the Mission Impossible trailer. It is SO my personality.
I told them I am having an intimate ceremony and didn't need to spend the amount they have posted on their website and told them how many invites I needed and they were willing to work with me and curtail a package for my size. So now it is affordable.
For Brides who may want to do DIY....you can use Windows Movie Maker and burn it onto a CD. It's tedious work, but I'm having fun doing it. I decided I would DIY and send this as a thank you to the guests who come. I will include pictures from our wedding at Disney.

I totally understand. After awhile you have to choose what's important. For me I rather have Cinderella's Coach and save money on the cake. The Rolls Royce would look beautiful in the pictures too. But then again perhaps there is something else you would want to do. Decisions, right?

An idea occurred to me for you to consider. If you do decide to rent a Rolls Royce for the same price you could rent it from an exotic car dealer (outside Disney) and have the Rolls Royce for the ENTIRE DAY! Drive around Orlando or wherever you want to go and still use it for your wedding day. Now doing that would make it SO worth it.

It was SO hot in the store they didn't have any fans or air condition on. With so many people and by the time I got into the store all of the racks were empty. I thought you ask for the size you need and if people don't need it they would graciously give it to you. Wrong! You have to have something to trade. Hence I spent my first hour walking around trying to get a dress so I had something to trade. I was paying attention to dresses people would just lay down and ask if they didn't want. I finally found a dress (it was hideous and not my size) but at least I had something to get started with the trading. Some people had dresses galore. Think of a chicken sitting on 25 eggs...people were literally doing that with dresses. Some said they were going to try them all on, some didn't even know the size they had. It was so hot I wasn't doing too well. I was giving up and about to leave. I did one last final walk around the place and asked a lady did she have anything she didn't want. I told her I have nothing to trade in the size she wants, but I would be willing to take anything off of her hands. She did give me a dress and it turns out to be the one I purchased. Some brides were like wrestlers, people 1/2 naked everywhere, but there were a few who wanted to see brides get a dress. The Filene's employees were sweating, it was like one hot steam bath. I don't know what they were thinking in not having air condition on. Plus with so many people that didn't help, but it was so hard to breathe. I think I am describing my experience mildly. I told one bride "look no wedding dress is worth me getting hurt over." And I moved on. At one point I felt like I was in the middle of the movie and didn't know what to do with all the chaos happening LOL.
It retails for $1500 but I got it for $249. Since I'm very anal about cleanliness I gave it to the cleaners to do a cleaning. Here is the dress:

No, she did not. Thanks for the reminder! I will check in with her and see. It was taking too long, but I did find one on my own. Actually through a recommendation from someone here on the Board...and the journey led me to having a choice from the Mehndi/Henna art community in Orlando. (I still want to know what Disney has to say) The Mehndi art will be done 2 days before the wedding. She will come back the morning of the wedding because I will need the gems to be put on for that bling affect and she knows how to correctly do the hair/face jewelry. She charges $100 per hour for the Mehndi art. I'm not getting a lot done so it will be just that. She lives very close to Disney so traveling isn't an issue.

I found out Typhoon Lagoon is closed for rehab so I won't be able to do a Trash the Dress photo shoot there. Blizzard Beach is available and approved for me. However, I am looking for as many photos as possible of various areas within Blizzard Beach. What locations within Blizzard Beach would you recommend to take pictures at that would make for a fun or romantic photo opportunity? If water is there the better (I will have a lifeguard). So I'm currently searching for photos and reading up on Blizzard Beach :surfweb:

Here is a different take on the Mickey Mouse fans but I like that it is a little different and cheaper (Have to save $ somewhere). I would add a stick and a organza bow around it. I'm not sure if it would look better in black or white. What do you think? I will use it as the Program OR just to add a little more Disney magic have it say something else. Any ideas besides using it for a program I could have it say? The largest size it can be made is 5.5"...

So I heard from the Mehndi Artist in Epcot today. We have an appointment to talk tomorrow morning. I'm excited.

Well we decided on what characters we will have. I may get booed but I'm not really a fan of Minnie Mouse. So my husband said he chooses Mickey and I want Daisy Duck. This should look very interesting for pictures. We will also have the Major Domo.
My challenge lies in choosing the music. I want to finish our questionnaire and get it sent into our WC.

Animal Kingdom Villas (DVC) paid in full as of yesterday. I'm filling out our planning kit questionnaire so I can get this sent into my WC. After speaking with my WC, I'm not expecting my floral BEO (assuming) until literally in October...probably a few weeks before final payment is due in November. Nonsense!
I spoke with Shelly at Impressions about invitations and she had some awesome ideas. She said she loves doing something different and out-of-the-box. I found someone on Etsy to do the DVD invitations for a reasonable price. I have to get these invitations sent ASAP!
My grandmother called me yesterday and said something out of the blue but inspiring. She said "go for your dreams." I was surprised because in the beginning she was against us doing a vow renewal because she felt it was a waste of money (we are already married.) She is looking forward to it now and excited! She said you have been talking about Disney for the longest, make your dreams come true. It's all on you." I agreed and told her that life is too short, better do what I want to do while I can. So even though it is my dream to get married in a park, having all of the photography is a great experience in itself.
I'm trying to combine my theme and thinking of table decorations/theming for it....
I'm working on the menu still for the brunch. The "soul food" menu the Chef came up with was so so...and I finally gained clarity that I want to have food I can't always have anytime. I really want steak but due to budget that is out of the question. I feel I am so far behind and have tons to do. It seems everything is in slow motion.

That's great that you paid for your stay! Huge wait off your shoulders! I am going to stay at AKV as well, I think it will be such a great place to relax! I know what you mean about the BEO....when I had my first consultation, I made it clear that I want everything done as quickly as possible :rotfl: I just hate having to do things last minute....and not knowing the full budget!

I am just really interested to see what you have come up with! I wouldn't worry too much about not having steak.....there are so many places on disney property that make good steak, so you can have it there (the Filet at Jiko!!!).

The F & B minimum is $1000 for the Flying Fish. You can recreate any menu you want. You do not have to use their standard one. Believe me, I changed everything! You're welcome.

I totally agree with you...great idea. This is what I was thinking if I ended up having a dessert party--invite spouses/boyfriends/extra guests. How was your phone planning session? Did you feel you got enough out of it? (Sorry, I keep asking all these questions!) Were you able to follow up if you had more questions?
Your dress is gorgeous! What a great deal!!
I love that you didn't give up your dream of the Cinderella coach! What a bummer you can't play music on it though, that would be cute! The coach and the major domo are in my plans too :)
Can't wait to read more!

It went well. I'm detail oriented so it helps to have a WC who also has the same values and commitment. Yes, you can follow up with more questions. I find email works best for my WC and for myself. It is easier and you have written documentation. Don't worry about your questions, I am glad to help if I can even if it is in a small way. :goodvibes
NEW UPDATE
We had to postpone our vow renewal until next year; circumstances and to be safe in this economy. Nevertheless, we are doing a Wishes Vow Renewal instead of an Escape. With the customization I was doing we were nearly spending close to Wishes anyway. Our theme will be Around-the-World/Travel. We will incorporate different aspects of culture, language and tradition. The silver lining is that I have more time to plan our FABULOSITY (as a fellow DISer calls it)! A majority of my plans are remaining the same, but changing a few items.

Any ideas of what location you will use for ceremony/reception?
I have a site visit scheduled next month. I'm thinking the following for locations:
RECEPTION
Tamu Tamu Courtyard
Belvedere
Atlantic Dance Hall
Epcot (not sure where for our party size..Italy?)
Backup choice: Narcoossees
CEREMONY
Animal Kingdom (it is possible)
Morocco or Canada
Wedding Pavilion (I have to see it)
Backup choice: Sea Breeze Point
Having the worst time choosing because of photography vs. what I want.
Should I start a brand new PJ or just continue here?:dance3:

wohoo! I am happy you updated!!! The new locations all seem AMAZING!!!!! Honestly, I think that the latest DPS pics I have seen have been good, and IMHO I think it is worth risking it to get married in a park, if that is what you really want!
I think you could continue your pj on here....I think I changed my mind a zillion times and kept mine :lmao:
Are you still planning an "Around the World Theme". You could get married in Epcot and have one country there, and a reception in AK, and use the Asia or Africa theme there! Oh, if you get married in Canada, can I be your "something Canadian"?? It will add to the world theme! I'll dress up in hockey gear and drink lots of beer :rotfl: You don't even have to pay me!

You are so funny. :rotfl: Yes, I changed my mind a lot too, but I really want to do something in a Park. I am leaning towards Tamu Tamu or Belvedere. I need to see them in person to make sure this is what I want for the Reception. As for the ceremony I want to make sure I have a professional photographer (outside vendor) so I am leaning towards doing it outside the Park. I will definitely being doing an Epcot photo shoot. You can definitely be my something Canadian. Are you ready, eh?
I booked 2 nights in the Royal Asante Presidential Suite at Animal Kingdom a few weeks ago. Yes, I am doing a Around-the-World theme. I think it leaves for us to do a lot and not be tied down too much. The color scheme is the hardest thing to choose. I love color! What can it be?
I will keep my PJ here and just add to it.

I'm feeling a little melancholy today. Next month was the original date we were to do our vow renewal. And even though we will be in Disney at that time doing a site visit for our vow renewal next year...still feeling a little sad and sentimental. I'm concentrating on details for next year. I really need to decide on a ceremony site. I do know we will spend a majority on photography (since I love it) and want to experience and document everything. I want different styles of it so I know what I want to do and with whom. I'll detail it in the next post.
New update: As nice as I've seen pics of the Wedding Pavilion I would rather use the additional $1000 on pictures than a location I will only be at for 1 hour. I still have to see it!
