Hi. We would like to go to DLP next year when its really cold and wintery. Does anyone know what month it would be most likely to snow? We were thinking either end of Jan or beginning of Feb.

It snowed very heavily this year just after New Year - quite a few Disers were there and there are loads of photos in their TRs

Snow in DLP is very unpredictable - it could fall any time in winter from maybe January onwards.
To be honest, while it looks nice, the snow can be more of a hinderance than anything as this year it meant rides were closed, paths were very slippery and some were closed, parades were cancelled etc...

I went on the 4th Jan and it was soooooo cold. A lot of the rides were closed, the parades were disrupted but it looked lovely on the areas that weren't walked on. It was unusually cold though this year - one of the CM's showed me his phone where it was showing -14 degrees. :scared1:

Sounds great :cloud9:
LOL!! You are mad!
It really wasn't great when you are waiting for the parades in below freezing temperatures, only to have it delayed....and then more delays...then eventually start with as basic a parade as they could have managed. Not that I blame them. Or when a large amount of rides are stopped as the ice was so bad.
Personally, I would never do it again at that time of year but I know others who would, and we were very well prepared for how cold it would be.
I'll post some pictures so you can see what it was like.

We are one of the mad ones (possibly the only ones) who were there in January and are returning for another dose of the cold. Jeccaboos is right with the temperature, in fact we were told -15. It was lovely in the snow but as stated slippy and reduced rides and parades. A few photos below of the snow and ice.
First morning of snow, doesn't it look lovely

So you have been warned but if your hardy folks who don't mind the cold then go for it.

Yes Steve, you are mad but I am sure you are not the only one :) I am not soft but by the end of the holiday the cold just got too much for me although the kids were fine. I remember landing back at Liverpool and it was 2 degrees and it felt positively balmy.
I think if I were to go again, I would stay onsite. We stayed at the Adagio and, because of the buses, it was just that bit too far to keep nipping back to the hotel. I think that would have made a difference as it would have been better to be able to go back for an hour or so to get properly warm rather than relying on copious amounts of hot drinks and the indoor shows.

March 2005 it snowed heavily and then Jan 5th -8th this year it snowed as well. The fountains were frozen and I thought it was magical, it was also VERY cold but completely manageable with DD who is 9.
After only experiencing Disney Florida heat style this was a fantastic experience!

Yeah I can see how you must think we are mad lol!! Its just that we have been so many times in May, June and then several times in Nov and Dec and while it was lovely to see all the Christmas decorations etc, the one thing I missed was snow. Having lived in Canada most of my life, I can deal with cold and am used to temperatures as low as -30 and even lower. Whenever we have been in Nov and beginning of dec I had wished it was colder as I find when its warmer it tends to rain ALOT more!! Since we will be staying in the DLH we will be able to nip back to the hotel for hot choccie and to get warmed up by the lovely roaring fires. You guys gave me the responses that I wanted and that was to hear that end of Jan will be cold. Thanks :goodvibes

we were there dis yr jan 8th-12th it was frezzing but beautiful to see and im not a snow person, the only ride that was closed due to the ice was the steam boat and autopia so wasnt too bad, the walk on to every ride more than made up for it. we stayed in santa fe which was fine and i would hav stayed there again until we stayed in cheyenne in june far nice hotel for similar price. But i did say if we were to go back in winter again we would stay in dlh for the location alone as the walk bac to the santa fe in the freezing cold wasnt fun.
we hav booked to stay in the dlh this nov but unfortunalty we are going to hav to change it as we are now going to australia for the month of october so looks like we will be going jan 3rd instead, my cousin is coming with us and he wants to stay in seqouia but im going to convince him the dlh is worth d extra:)

Some of these photos look so magical, but then I remember when we were there at Christmas in 2005 and Boxing Day was colder than a penguin's outhouse - I'm a big wuss when it comes to very cold weather. I'm shivering just thinking back to that ride round the park on the train, with popsicles for fingers, brrr!

it did feel magical - the snow started just as they played the magic for the 'fake' snow, and now it makes me cry when i hear that music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me what rides were closed when it was snowing there? Would hate to go and end up having a lot of rides closed.
Thanks.

From January i seem to remember Dumbo and the Astro orbitor being closed but not much else. Autopia was closed a few days for ice, although with its late opening never sure when its open. Unless you are open to what days you visit you just have to go and enjoy it. The snow was lovely in January, the problem was it was so cold that it just wouldn't go away.

I think the Riverboats may not have been running in the worst of the very cold weather in January also.

I will NEVER go when its snowing again (ok i didn't know it was due to snow when i booked but still...), It was far too cold, i thought i was going to die from frost bite.....rides were closed, parades re-scheduled or cancelled, had to wear so many layers of clothing i felt like a waddling penguin. It kinda put a dampner on the trip, but end of the day my DD loved it.
No more January trips for us again though, I can handle rain, thunder, hurricanes etc but snow....no thankyou.

Does anyone know when the publish what rides will be closed for each month? Do they give much notice or is it only a few weeks before?
THE PHOTOS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE IT.
We have had snow on two occasions in the February half term. However, this was not every day and didn't lay. Just pleasant flurrys, but your feet do get wet if you don't have the right footwear, which we didn't, and it really is miserable when your feet are wet a cold.
Looks so beautiful though. Thanks for posting.
With regards ride closures, there is a list on the disneyland paris site, rehabs and refurbs I think it's called. I had a look today as we go in four weeks.
Nothing looks to be closed except for Orbitron when we go. Fingers crossed it stays like that.:cheer2:

I Remember being in Disney in Florida in 2001 and it was so cold they were wrapping all the flowers up in bubble wrap so the freezing temp wouldn't kill them!! I'm also going in December to DLP and would like to see some snow just to see something different than the hot stuffy weather!:yay:
I've never been when it snows....but wow those pictures are lovel:love:! I love the snow......but like some of you have said it effects the parades and rides etc..
Im going jan 11th so i could be seeing snow after all:scared1:

I love this thread! The Mrs and I went for a weekend in January and it snowed on our last night there...it really was magical waking up in the snow and even the Santa Fe Hotel looked good in the snow :lmao:
It actually wasn't very cold but I wouldn't really do it again to be honest...snow, a cold 2 year old and an 8 1/2 month pregnant wife in DLRP was a very bizzare mix :lmao:
Here are my snow piccies:

We were there first week of Feb and woke up the 2nd day to a total snow covering. We were staying at the Sequoia Lodge (all log cabin style with huge open fire) and the kids loved it. Got loads of photos of them playing in the snowy trees etc.
But Disney being Disney were out straight away with their magic squeegee brooms and by tea time it had practically all gone :wizard:
It did make it extra magical but i was glad it didnt snow again while we were there.
