WOW it is expensive for our family of 5 (one will be under 3) it will cost us about $200! I understand it gets you park admission but we also are AP holders, just a hard pill to swallow. I'm sure we will do it as we are staying at BLT and will be able to walk. I know the kids will love it, we did the P&P party last year and it was great. Only had to pay for 3 tixs then and now another $43 for this one, and next year pushing $250! The kids just love halloween so I guess in the long run I won't remember the money but will have the memories.
I really do think they put an awesome party on and have heard great things about the halloween party. So anyone else feeling the sting even though you know you are going to have a great time:confused3

I have never been to MNSSHP, but we are making our first trip home in Oct! So we will be doing it! DS2 and DS11monts will take the stink out of the purchase. If all goes well we will be back next year!

It sounds like your kids really enjoy halloween so this will be a real treat for them. I would look for another place to cut back to offset the money. Maybe less shopping? If you have a full kitchen, maybe eat in that night before the party. Maybe that will make you feel better shelling out $200. Maybe this will be your one and only year going so enjoy it.

Well worth the price. A must see at least once.

I understand the sting--one of my boys is now 10 and an adult and the other one just turned 3 and is ticketable!
We've done the Pirate & Princess Party--kids LOVED it, and MVMCP and we all LOVED it--so we took the bait and have purchased tickets for MNSSHP in Sept.

We've done MNSSHP twice & we love it, much more than MVMCP. They start letting people in around 4pm, not that it matters since you have APs, but get there early & start enjoying the fun! A lot of people do the dance parties & trick or treat, but skip the rides. We really enjoy hitting all the rides, because most of them are a walk-on & it's the only time my kids get to ride the race cars since there is no wait. We aren't big character fans so we skip all that & save the trick or treating for last so we don't have to carry bags around all night. The parade is awesome & we are not big parade people either, but it is fantastic. Make sure you get there early so you don't miss the pre-parade action. You'll have a blast & then that $200 won't feel so bad! ;)

It's only the two of us, but this year, we're not doing MVMCP. We do feel the pinch of paying for a party when we already paid for admission! (However, I'm not giving up MNSSHP, I think that's a bit more festive and fun!)

I feel your pain and we are just 2 adults!
We never do the hard-ticket events when we have an AP. We save them for when we use regular PH passes and then it is quite the bargain! We rest all that day at the resort and head over at 4 and stay till they kick us out!
the party is worth the money and as was stated just try to cut back with meals/water/drinks - bring your own. The parade and the fireworks were so much fuN!

I know exactly what you mean! We go to MVMCP every year, and we do enjoy ourselves. But I must admit that the price is a little steep. And if I'm being honest, it irks me that Disney doesn't offer the advance purchase discount for all the dates like they used to in the past. I understand limiting the DVC/AP discount dates depending on when they expect to need to sell more tickets, but it seems to me that an advance purchase discount should be just that--a discount for purchasing the tickets in advance regarless of what day you go to the party.
This year we plan to attend MNSSHP (which I haven't done in 9 years and don't remember very well) and MVMCP. I'm excited about them, but I will probably also be evaluating whether or not I think they are worth it for future trips. Disney has really raised the price of these events in the last several years, and I'm trying to decide what the max price I would pay is. But at the same time, I am really looking forward to them too.

Where do we purchase these tickets ? Is it available online?
Can't seem to find it at Disney.com and their site is always slow to a crawl.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that says OUCH but fell like you gotta do it! We will stay until they kick us out, last year even for EMH my kids rock whatever rides they can (the little guy ones) until they kick us out. Stayed until close at 2am last year and 2:45am this last March.
One of the reasons we bought DVC was the kitchen, that saves us big time we rarely eat out. Not only for the $$$ savings but I find it to be a big pain the butt. We do a character meal each trip and the wife and I will do a nice dinner out but that really is about it. Everything is else is through Garden Grocer. We really do the bang for buck thing, we don't go without but we do try to do it $ smart so to speak.
Yeah I'm actually pumped to go as my wife and daughter went to the Christmas party last year and we did the P&P party last June the kids enjoyed it. Boys will want to do rides my daughter loves to dance with the characters and dress up. But then I think $200 :scared1: OTOH I have spent $200 on some dumb things that I don't even remember.
SO THANK YOU ALL for making this feel less painful:worship:

I actually had to do a search on the DVC site to find it. You can call MS to get the tickets. The "special" discount days for when I will be there is 10/1 and 10/6, we will probably go 10/6. The discount is only about $3 a tix if I remember correctly. However, the day of event price is much more expensive.

I just found the link online... Do we get discounts for AP or DVC member for all the dates or just the 10/1 and 10/6 ?

Not sure when all the discount days are but they list them and tell you the price from the dvcmembers.com site. But NO NOT ALL dates only a few. I just know about the 10/1 and 10/6 dates because we are there 10-1 to 10-10.

We absolutely feel your pain! We have 4 boys and 3 of them are now "adults" by Disney's definition. We love the party's but we are almost priced out of going. This year we are going to run the ToT 5k (our 1st run ever) and as a bonus for the hard work I thought MNSSHP would be fun. Now I'm wondering if I didn't make a big mistake because it is so expensive. Thank goodness we have DVC so that we can make sandwiches in our kitchen. And, finishing my first 5k with my boys.......priceless.

They used to let MNSSHP ticket holders in around 4:00 (or earlier even) but they havent done that the last 2 years. We've gone for 8 straight years, but are giving up Halloween this year for Christmas; our first MVMCP..woo hoo

I feel your pain also! We are buying 4 brand new AP's this year and 4 tickets to MNSSHP. I wish that they would have given us a discount on the days we are going to be there like they have done in the past.

My DF and I got into MNSSHP before 5PM last year, 2008. It was in September.

I just went the last two years & in 2007 they let us in before 4pm & in 2008 we did have dinner first but we still got in before 7pm, but I don't think it was much before. That's too bad if they stopped letting people in early.
Hope you enjoy MVMCP!

You can definitely get in early if you have a reservation..excellent idea too!
As far as my personal experience, they were very strict about not letting people in before the start of the party. From 2001-2005 we got in between 3:00-4:00 without reservations and with our party tickets alone. There were party dates in September and October within those years so I don't think the time of month had any bearing, just my observation.
Beginning in 2006 is when they started "tweaking" the policies regarding entry into the party, (there was a whole lot of concern when they started doing this too). They did this because a lot of non-paying guests were just "hanging around" after park close and being allowed to stay in the party without paying (saw this many times early on and it was annoying). They then started closing certain parts of the parks and "herding" non MNSSHP ticket holders into one area of the park to "clear it out" quicker..didn't work so well. They did a couple different things in 2006 & 2007 which I can't remember exactly, but seemed to go smoothly.
Last year (I think 2007 as well) they had like a line of CM's beginning at the back of the park and "herding" day guests to the entrance. I would walk through the stores on main street and CM's would be shoulder to shoulder checking wristbands for MNSSHP'ers and allowing them through, and guiding all other guests to the entrance. They also checked wristbands ALL NIGHT LONG which I had never seen done in other years.
That being said, we went in October (Halloween night to be specific) and they had much less leniency than years past. Maybe because others went in Sept. which had fewer attendees they let people in early? Maybe because it was Halloween night they were extra strict? I don't know.
However, I would suggest to anyone planning on attending, especially for the first time, do not plan on getting in any earlier than the actual start time. Just my .02
We are ap holders too and have not decided whether we are going. Last year they added more ap discounted nights later, obviously when not selling enough tickets. In the past there have always been more discounted nights. If I get a discounted night later in the game we may go, if no discounts, we're skipping it. Totally not worth it in MHO. We've done this many times and over the years it has become less worth it. They generally have discounted nights up until the 3rd week of October, so seeing no discounts gives me no incentive to go.
