Hey all! here is our new home.
DDA originally stood for Disney Design Addicts as most of the posters were addicted to making t-shirt designs. Those designers are still here and many many more people have joined our friendly community. We think that DDA still fits whether you be a Disney Design Addict, Dear Disney Addict, Disney Dream-aholics, Disney Dream Addicts or whatever other acronyms you'd like to throw in there.
Welcome to all the returning posters and welcome to any newcomers that might like to chat about design and all things Disney.
Copied from Deb because she worded it so well.

Elin - Yup on the double posting. It told me I couldn't post twice, blah, blah, blah, but I had only posted once. I went back to see if my post was there and it wasn't so I posted it again. Lo and behold there were two. :confused3 Can't win somedays.
With Brendan's family I knew it probably wouldn't go long. His step-father is the one who was in a major motorcycle accident a little over a year ago. He had another (and hopefully the last) surgery last month so tires easily still, not to mention doesn't sleep well some nights due to the braces, pins, etc. And there's also the added benefit that his mom always offers to help, cleanup, etc and ignores if you tell her not to worry about it and helps clean up anyway. Things were mostly done by the time they left.
The rest of the day would have been peaceful if in the middle of correcting my double post I hadn't been given a heart attack by Terra screaming from the front yard like I've never heard her scream. Scared me to death! She pinched her finger pretty badly in the swing chain. It's swollen has a bit of a puncture and will be bruised pretty good, but I think it will be okay soon.

Hi ya'll. This weekend was really nice. Hal called me yesterday while coming home from a concert and wanted to go out to eat. We went to a really nice place and sat on the back patio and enjoyed a very relaxing evening with good food. We have eaten there before but it was very nice this time. Hal had a seafood platter and I had Salmon crusted with fennel. Awesome.
http://www.therailroadhouse.com/RRHTour.html
Scroll thru the pictures. We sat under the umbrella on the right towards the back. Very beautiful and very quiet.
Today I really cleaned the bathroom which gave me a migraine from the cleaning materials, but all is good now. I made steamed green beans from our garden, a really neat rice and tuna done on the broiler. Now I am relaxing with a very tall gin and tonic!!!! What a way to end the day. :goodvibes:goodvibes

We spent a couple of hours at another local winery this afternoon and had a very nice time. Tasted 12 wines for $5 and that included the glass!

On our way home we stopped at our favorite produce stand and grabbed some raspberries, tomatoes and squash. Then we hit Wegmans and bought some lovely salmon filets and chickpeas.
We were very brave and did cedar-plank grilled salmon filets with a dry rub that I concocted out of lemon-herb seasoning, paprika, basil, garlic and a smidge of brown sugar. It worked quite well! This is ONE of the filets which we split and we plan to do something else with the second one tomorrow evening for dinner.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c69/PNO4TE/Glorious%20Food/7153dba5.jpg
We also had sliced tomatoes and yellow squash/zucchini slices in foil packets also on the grill (no photo).
Our other side was pan roasted chickpeas in olive oil and garlic.

Terry - That looks like a great place. Glad you enjoyed your dinner.
Becky - I hope things slow down for you soon and even more than you get to use some of that vacation time for restful things.
After about an hour of resting with some ice off and on, the finger is good. I think it had to get past that burning sensation from a big pinch and the puncture. She was happily playing on the computer and it was her "mouse" finger that got hurt so it must be better.
Oh, just noticed the time. Guess I had better go see if Phil wants any food made to take to work tonight. It's the dreaded Sunday night overnight (8pm-5am). Luckily, he has the rest of Monday and Tuesday off this time. He was having to go in at 6am on Tues and found that a difficult recovery on the sleep.
If I don't make it back, hope everyone enjoyed their weekends.

I cannot believe I posted at 12:21 and did the following with only one post in between!
Drove to a winery that is about 45 minutes from home, had their tastings, bought wine, drove home, went to the produce stand, went to the grocery store, did the week's grocery shopping, came home and unloaded all the groceries. You all must be having wonderful afternoons! :goodvibes
Jen -I don't think you would want my list of songs for your CD... ;)
You were busy today! I'm sure your salmon was de-lish. Did it come from Wegman's?

So, we went to see our local community theater's production of Annie today. The actors did an outstanding job, however, the economy has even affected their budget. The always have an orchestra, but this time around they couldn't afford the cost of it, so they only had a pianist to accompany the actors. It was still an wonderful performance, but it was lacking in instrumental music.
Afterwards we stopped at Famous Dave's for dinner and shopped at Best Buy. I've decided I'm going to make some major purchases, now that this divorce stuff is coming to an end. I'm getting a Samsung 52" tv and a home theater system with BluRay (5 speakers w/ surround sound). It will be awhile before everything gets hooked up and the cables hiddened, but I'm so excited about it. I do need to get a new entertainment center to hold the bigger tv and I've got it narrowed down to 2. It's all way more than I need right now, but the sale was great (almost $1000 off on the tv) and it's something that the kids and I will grow into.

Is as much the food you cook too! The thing is Terra would eat a lot of that, my imagination to think of it just isn't that big yet. Though, that could come with the expanded dining out options that then plant ideas for cooking at home.

No he lucked out there, they were able to sleep in. He had no fast food the whole time he was gone, home cooked meals everyday & he said she baked a lot. I really hope he does not expect that from me :rolleyes1
Garrett is a big milk drinker & he said he drank almost a gallon the 1st day there(does not surprise me). Anyway the grandmother bought another gallon & wrote on it "for cereal only" I thought this very funny :rotfl: I told Garrett he should have given her money & asked her to buy extra milk for him.

You know... when we are planning a meal we immediately think about what we would eat if we went out to dinner. after we are done planning we think what it would have cost us if we had really gone out to buy it. Then it tastes even better! :thumbsup2

Yay for a new TV!! I know we need to upgrade one of these days. Our cable reception is horrible on several channels, but the thought of calling for service, waiting for the guy, moving the entertainment center to get to the cords, blah blah blah makes me put up with the fuzzy reception.

The meal did look really good (even though we are non-fish eaters). I really need to come up with new meal ideas.
Have you tried the new pretzel rolls at Wegmans? They are the ones made by Wegmans not pre-packaged rolls. Ours are with the bulk rolls over near the bagels. They are really good and remind me a bit of the pretzel bread at WDW (except for the shape).

That sounds fantastic! Up until 2 years ago, our largest tv was 19" or 20", and we also have a 13". The big tv finally died, so we bought a 40" LCD HD tv. At the time, we thought we were being ridiculous, but it is so much nicer than trying to see on that little, dark tv that we used to have. I don't think we really have the room for anything bigger, but I am sure glad that we didn't go smaller.

Janet,
Glad to hear Garrett is home.
Tammi,
Yay for a new tv & sound system. Enjoy! Keep us potsed as to how you like it, I know Dana wants to get a surround sound system but we have no clue what to get. Also I am glad things are coming to a close for you as far as DH.:hug::hug:
Terry,
Say Hi to Stephanie for me & hope to see you too at Disney again!
Elizabeth,
We have to plan some time to meet up. I have to go get my matrix.
Elin,
Yay for Kristin & the concert! You pictures look lovely!

Hi everyone,,, I am here,,,Janet, yes the gin & tonic is doing good for me......:lmao:
Hope everyone had a good weekend. stephanie is doing good too. She has been super busy and has been stressing a little with work, but she has been holding her own. I have been stressing too.
We have lunch every day and have lots of fun talking about the Magic Meet, our trip in Dec and the big cruise next year.
Magic Meet sounds like it will be a great break for you guys during the busy time. It's great that you're able to get away together for lunch though. That would be one of my favorite parts of being in your situation.
Good morning. :)
Ugh. Monday. And I didn't sleep well. Nicholas starts football camp this week. 5-7:30. I'm leaving work 2 hours early every day in order to get him picked up and fed beforehand. He would be starving if he had to wait until 7:30 for dinner.
Hope Nicholas enjoys football camp and that the temps stay decent. Good luck making it through the craziness of the week.

Good morning, DDA!
It looks like a blessedly slow day around here today. Nothing much going, nothing much planned, and mom's already said she's fixing dinner since I did all of the weekend stuff. :woohoo: Just a little laundry, quick empty of the dishwasher, maybe a trip to the library and the rest of the day is easy peasy. Hopefully, that means I'll get a few more folders of photos organized today. Better yet, I'm in the mood for some Disney planning! Maybe I'll start getting things worked out for Terra's birthday trip.

Ok cool, got it!! I also added Raglan Road to our arrival night. We are staying at the Hilton in DTD for the 1st night. The plan is to do DTD while we are there & get that out of the way...I don't like to be in DTD when I could be in a park & since we don't get out tickets until the next day this will work out great.
Ok off to make shirts.

I haven't tried them yet, but I saw them and wondered if they were anything like the pretzel bread at Le Cellier! Made me (almost) want to make a batch of their Cheese Soup!

After dinner tonight we headed to the library. Terra had finished her reading club sheet so she got her third set of "prizes". Unfortunately, the volunteer didn't much know what she was doing and only gave her part of them. Luckily, I had seen a girl get a book the last time we were there and asked the librarian at checkout. She gave us the choices of books and also a set of passes to the children's museum that we should have gotten. Terra ended up choosing what turned out to be a graphic novel called Babymouse: rock star. It looked really cute and almost 100 pages long. She read it from the front desk of the library to the car, put it down long enough to buckle her seatbelt, the whole car ride to Redbox and home and into the house. It must have been good as she just came in and said she finished it. Guess I need to start searching out more chapter books for her as she suddenly seems ready. Any suggestions for girls her age, yet not too "girly"?

I am fighting technology today too. Everything is so complicated! I figured I should load the software onto my laptop for Joe's Flip Video. I was able to download that and I thought I saved the movies from his camera onto my hard drive but it said they weren't saved so I saved them one at a time but now I bet they are there twice???? Now I'm trying to make a DVD of the movies so he can watch them on TV. Its been going about 30 minutes and it is 9.4% complete. My SIL bought Joe a book on trick videos-the kids made a cool video of Lizzy holding a "mini Emma" on her hand.:rotfl:
Then I tried to make a backup of my photos from Disney in May so I can erase my memory cards but it is saying some of the photos are "busy".:confused3

Yesterday I went to PetsMart because we are thinking of switching cat food brands. Bought a new bag of food. DH left it on the kitchen floor.
I got up at 6 AM and the bag was tipped over and the top was ripped open, food all over the floor.:headache::mad::headache: Of course Zazu was RIGHT there, and so was Aurora. He must have eaten some, because he is in no way acting like he is hungry now.

I still need to order a new entertainment center for it. What I have now is leaving,, which isn't big enough anyway. Man we must all be pretty busy lately as slow as things are moving on here sometimes.
We had a crazy good day today! We went to our first park day with a new homeschool group we joined and it is perfect for us! Has the benefits of more similar-minded homeschoolers, cool moms, some of the moms from the farther away group that I really liked and great kids. The best part is that their current park is only 15 minutes away and most of their stuff is less than 30 minutes. The other group I liked was at least 45 min each way, which was just too much. The other benefit is that this group has a wide variety of ages (2-17yos today) which I'm glad Terra will have a chance to see. Plus, she's always related better to older kids than younger. She was in heaven the whole time - playing in the first, running around with the other kids, etc. So much so that I had to convince her it was time to go home after almost 4 hours.
Now I'm just getting some basics down on our Not-yet-color-coded Matrix of Fun. Chanon sent me some rack rate prices and I found some good news in that. The week that ends with Terra's birthday is still value pricing and the next week is only a little higher than that. For some reason I had calculated a much bigger price increase, but heck I'll take this! We'll have to see what the codes end up doing for Feb, but hopefully we'll get to be there on her birthday like she wants to. Plus, that timing will work out perfectly for us to have our vacation and then be home in time for me to start watching our neighbor's baby who is due in mid-January. :woohoo:

I am almost leaning towards pink eye, because the inner corner of that eye is much redder than the other one. I SUPPOSE I should be glad it is the same eye that I have been having trouble with. No clue what I am going to do about it. I guess I will call the eye Dr.
Zazu is back on track for his surgery today.
They switched DH's off days to today and tomorrow instead of Fri & Sat (he is MAD!). But it works out better this way. DH can drop Zazu off this AM and pick him up tomorrow as soon as they say he is ready to go home.

It sounds like they have added some Fantasmic shows, but I haven't investigated any of that. We almost never make it to park closing, but I guess an extra hour here and there could be useful. ;)

Good morning, DDA!
I was thinking this morning that we had a quiet day in store, but then I remembered that Kristi's kids will be here from about 1:30 until almost 9. Oh well, it's fun for them even if it's not always quiet. She does bring the food for dinner, though, so who am I to argue. ;)
Otherwise, just a bunch of "getting a head start" for the next "school" year. I'm trying to figure out how I want to best track our school stuff. On top of that, it's time to start getting Girl Scout stuff under way. Wonder if they've gotten my new book in yet? I'm about to inherit several boxes of GS papers and forms so I guess I've got to find a home for those as well.
Hope everyone has a peaceful day today!

DH called the vet a little while ago. They said Zazu is groggy but he seems to be doing OK. Poor DS was so worried about him.
The Dr's ofice just called back. The girl said she would talk to the Dr. but I am probably going to have to go in for them to look at it. :headache: NOT the answer I was hoping for. Whatever it is, it is probably NOT something they are going to be able to fix. If it is another stye then we all know how that will go. If it is bacterial pink eye then the drops will fix it. The guy that we previously rented from & are now buying our house from stopped in work today to talk to me. He has been battling cancer for a while now(one of the reasons he wanted to sell the house to us) & they thought it had all cleared. He went in for a check up last month & it has returned & spread. The Dr's told him there was nothing else they could do & gave him 9 months.
He talked about how at least he had time to get his affairs in order & make sure everything is set for his wife. He also said he wanted me to know that all would be fine with us buying the house. He gave me a big hug & told me that just in case he does not see me again that it has been wonderful knowing me all these years(17 at least).
Of course I started crying. He seemed so calm & I was falling apart, it is just so sad :sad1:
I'm still upset about it. I feel for his family, I know exactly what they are going through & there is nothing I can do that will make it better.

Wow. The crowd levels per the UG are kind of scary now! :scared1: Aug. 4 jumped from a 6 to a 9. I saw the parks entended their hours here and there, and on one night MGM is closing 2 hours EARLIER. Weird.

My eye is, whatever. I don't think it is any worse. It is a little itchy - makes me want to rub and poke it. If it starts to balloon up or turn purple I will go see the Dr. Until then she said to just use the drops and see what happens.

Thank you!
So all my dates are available but AP rates stop on the night of the 25th. Did any of the Club Level rooms come up or just Savanna? And we are talking rooms, not villas, right? Second question (if I may be so bold....) how much per night for the Savanna AP rate? I know rack rate for those rooms is $485 on the holidays...
Yes, no AP rates for the 25-27. I only checked Savanna view, and yes, room not villa. Let me go back and look.

Oh my -- I'm so sorry. Sending a big hug to you and prayers for his family.
let me tell you it is not fun giving meds to a 21 month old. Any suggestions. At least she only needs the Tami Flu once a day for 10 days. Unlike Olivia and I we get it twice a day for 5 days. Thats right I got the Flu at WDW. The Dr. is 99% sure its Swine flu. Even though they dont do the confirmation testing any more to differentiate. But he said its too late in the year for last years strain of reg. flu and to early for this years strain.
Oh no. With my luck, I'll pick it up and be quarantined on the boat.
I hope you find a way to get Virginia to take her meds. I think you had problems with Olivia, too? Here's to you all feeling better soon and Jeff not getting it. :wizard:

I'm sorry to have you all worried. I've been super busy and the DIS refuses to cooperate at 4 AM. I've worked the late shift at the restaurant twice this week which means I didn't get to bed until midnight and had to be up at 4 AM for the pool. I'm hoping for a long nap this afternoon, but it will have to wait until after Colby's speech class.
I'm taking the boys to Santa's village tomorrow (they have no idea) then Chris will bring the camper and meet us at the campground which is about 1/2 way between here and Santa's Village. I haven't found any time to pack. I mean I have nothing ready. Todya we need to pack, clean the house and grocery shop. Of course the boys have their leadership group tonight so Chris will have to handle the logistics of that.
The weather here is still cold and rainy. Apparently we aren't going to get a summer this year. The bright side is that it looks like Chris and I will be taking a trip to Cancun next month. We haven't booked anything yet as I'm still waiting for confirmation that our passports will be here by then.

Marci - Love your fun new siggie!! :goodvibes
Our sweet Zazu is home. Hopefully he will settle back in quickly. DH said Arabella is hissing at Zazu. Probably because he smells like the vet's office. She missed him while he was gone. On the other hand, he needs to take it slow for a few days, so if she leaves him alone that's not entirely bad.

I talked to my travel companions and we opted to look into moderates. The additional cost for AKL just didn't make sense to us at this time. We have also been kicking around the possibility of eating Christmas Eve dinner at Victoria & Albert's and if we do that the money saved will pay for that meal!
We also discussed how much fun we had last Christmas at POFQ. So, we are booked there for 12/19-12/27. Thanks for your help this morning! :goodvibes

Elin, you did a split stay last year, correct? I remember you having decorations for both motifs. :)
DH made a comment about wishing we could go in December, but since his schedule is different now he can't take his days off back to back like he could before. It would be lovely to go in December again. Maybe next year when he has 3 weeks of vacation.
I wish the work day would hurry up and end so I could go home and see Zazu. I also am curious to see how DH has progressed with his packing. :rolleyes1
He was fussing at me this morning because I have too much of my stuff in his quart bag. I told him his deodorant does not need to be in the bag, so it is FINE. I think he doesn't believe me. I suppose if they take away his deodorant he will have to share DS's Axe deodorant. :rotfl:

Originally, we were supposed to have a crazy busy day. Fun, but lots of running. By 8am when I was finishing up at Walmart that had become a completely empty day. So, we took advantage of the beautiful day today and went to the zoo. The animals were enjoying the weather as well and it was a nice outing. I had the baby with us as well while her mom had an interview (she's has another one tomorrow so fingers are crossed that something works out). I forget how much babies change in a short time. Between not seeing her for about 3 weeks plus her having gotten her first haircut, I couldn't believe the changes.
Now we're just chilling after a yummy dinner of homemade pizza. That alone totally made my night, but so does the quiet surrounding me. Guess it's a good time to get some computer work done.

Jennifer-wecome home! Sorry things didn't go well with your Mom & nephew. So sorry you all got sick. Hope you recover quickly.:wizard:
Janet-so sorry to hear about your landlord. So sad.
Elizabeth-hope you can find some quick relief for your eye.:wizard::cool2: Hope Zazu recovers quickly!
Anne Marie-love your shirts!
Jen-a Disney wedding sounds great! One of my coworker's daughters is getting married at Disney next June-I may have to go to help her out!
Vicki-hope you can book an October trip!:wizard:
Deb-have fun at Santa's Village!
Elin-congrats on booking POFQ!
Terry-congrats on the AP rate!
Tia-the zoo sounds fun! My SIL invited us to come visit her in St Louis and go to the zoo.
The kids had a great time on the Cape! I think my MIL had a great time too and that is what really counts! We were sort of there to celebrate her 90th birthday in September but this is the only time we could all get together. It wasn't easy corralling 12 people but it was still fun. The weather was lousy Tuesday but nice yesterday. I came back early with my SIL-she dropped me off at my office. Gene and the kids stayed with the others and had a nice day despite more rain. He said it was only 49 miles from Sandwich to my office. We played mini golf last night. Joe got 3 hole in ones included the 18th so he got a free pass for the next time-I guess we have to go back now!
The Inn was nice enough but the room was on the small side, the beds were lousy and the bathroom was tiny. I mention to DH that the room cost as much as I paid for Poly in January and he said the Poly rooms are MUCH nicer.:thumbsup2
I've got a ton of work to do at work in the next 3 business days and several meetings to keep me from doing it.....

Thank you for all the birthday wishes everyone! We've celebrated starting at 10pm last night - I was up late reading kinda half sitting in bed and my book is resting on my belly and suddenly it starts moving...someone had the hiccups! First time it was really noticable and must have gone on for about 5 minutes. Really really neat. Then at 5AM someone decides to attempt to stand up in my uterus. I was getting punched on both sides and it even woke Bob up. He just laughed at me. Work had an ice cream cake log for us and now I'm home relaxing. (Hoping for socks for my birthday!) :teeth:

Elizabeth - we didn't do a split stay last year. We were originally booked at AKL CL but decided on POFQ because of finances. We really had a great time there and the girls and Bob told me today that they don't see any reason to spend more than twice the money on AKL, so we are back at POFQ again this year. Lizzy had hiccups all the time-even during birth. She had them a lot as an infant too.
Bernadette - I'm glad you had a fun time. WTG, Joe. I've never gotten 3 holes in one in one game ever!
He was really good. He'd be unbeatable if he'd just slow down-if he didn't get it in just 1 or 2 shots he was about 10 or 15. Of course Emma was crying at the end because she didn't get any holes in one and Lizzy was complaining about how unfair it was because she was older. Lizzy did beat Joe overall. We didn't add up the scores but I'm pretty sure my SIL Gail won. I think Gene got 3 hole in ones too but not on the 18th. Gail only got one but she gots lots of holes in just 2 shots.

Some. We are each going to bring a small bag with about 50 pins. We aren't going to wear the lanyards every day, though.
Chanon - I am glad you are enjoying the baby's antics! :goodvibes
Elin - I think you will LOVE dinner at V&A!
DH's deodorant isn't liquid or aerosol, so there is no reason it should have to be in the quart bag. Mine isn't in my quart bag, and neither is DS's. DH just likes to start trouble. ;)
Bernadette - We bought those Purex 3-in-1 sheets for laundry. Guess we'll see how it goes! Good luck getting you creations finished! :wizard:
Zazu is doing pretty well - he is eating, drinking, using his litter. Arabella is still being horrible to him. DH said it is like she completely forgot Zazu in the 24 hours he was gone. I have been holding him and petting him to try to get my scent on him, but she hisses and runs if he gets within 6 feet of her! I expected her to hiss when he FIRST came home, but now her behavior seems kind of odd. They played together ALL the time, so I hope she gets used to him again soon.
