Thanks, Michelle, for the Birthday info. What about the "stickers" that were mentioned in a previous post? Would you suggest that too?

We'll definitely have some opportunities to wish our DD a very Happy Disney Birthday! Went to the mall this evening and bought her a Lilo doll......she went to bed just a little while ago clutching her new doll and with a huge grin on her face!!

The Disney "magic" is swirling around this house!! Now, I need to start packing....and calling tomorrow morning for some of those reservations!!!

I have another question....about gift baskets...but will post it as a new thread...thanks for your responses......I remember your help on the DCL board three years ago!!! You're still providing great info!!! Much appreciation, Karen

<font color=navy>I would definitely get her a birthday sticker at City Hall when you first get in. They will most likely write her name on it, and she'll be greeted by a great many people...

When my 13-yr old cousin came out from Phoenix, we went to DL on her birthday. Without her knowing, we told the jazz musicians that it was her birthday, and they pulled her out of the crowd & played HB to her on the sax.... she was a little embarrassed, but she enjoyed it all the same. :)

Here's a little more info on the Fantasy Celebration events:

Fantasy Celebration Events -- Guests who want to customize their birthday event can turn to the "Fantasy Celebration Events" specialists. They coordinate every detail and help make dreams come true in a variety of locations and themes. "Fantasy Celebrations" are $100 per person and a 30-day notice is requested. Fantasy Celebration themes include:

"Build a Princess" -- A birthday girl receives a crown and a note that proclaims her an "honorary princess." Throughout a tour of the Resort, princess gifts are layered on (costume jewelry, flowers and a dress), the youngster encounters various Disney princesses, and the day culminates with a birthday dinner attended by a Disney princess.

"A Screamin’ Birthday Party" -- Disney's California Adventure provides the screams and thrills for guests with a tour of exciting attractions and a dinner cruise.

"A Birthday Blast, To Infinity and Beyond!" -- Guests are whisked away to adventures in Disneyland park as "Astro Command Trainees," capped by a visit from Buzz Lightyear.

I'm taking my dd as a bday present, but her bday will be a month prior. Does that matter on any of these packages?

Michelle

No, the date does not matter, it does not have to be the actual birthday. :)

We are going to celebrate my DS 8th b-day on St. pat's day also. However, we will actually be in the park on the 14th or 15th.

Glad to read about all the possible ways to celebrate. I didn't know what was available.

This will be our 1st trip to DL. Have been to WDW twice with the kids.

Trips planned-
DL Off-site Mar 2003
WDW Yacht Club Dec 2003

I wish they had these options in WDW last month. I had my 40th out there and would have liked to celebrate in some of the ways mentioned above. We did do a chef mickeys breakfast on the day but the characters did not interact at all with the kids, they just stood there which is not what we were expecting! I did get a little cake though which was nice.

Thank you for the information. My husband is actually planning a 30th birthday celebration for my twin sister and I. Yes we are having our 30th birthday party at DL. We will most likely be doing the Birthday Party at the Plaza Inn with Mickey and Minnie and Pat E. Cake. Can you imagine about 50 grown ups having a party with kids sippy cups and our own individual cakes to decorate. This is going to be a blast... Our birthday is January 29th but due to NFL and the Super Bowl we are celebrating our birthday valentine's weekend... Can't wait!!!

So thank you very much for this information. I will pass it on to my husband....

Michelle, Did we meet you on the member cruise last February?

RRBB and I will be at DL on her birthday (it is a multiple of 10 this year) I want to plan a surprise for her, what do you suggest. We also have prepaid a character Breakfast (place and time TBD) and get preferred seating to a show. I would love your guidance. We will be staying at the Grand Californian, and before you ask, yes I booked the trip with Dis-Savers.

Any and all suggestions are Appreciated and Welcome!!!!!

Hi Ohanafamily! Sorry, I just saw this post. :)

No, I'm not DVC so I wasn't on the members cruise last year but I know plenty of folks who were and had a BLAST. :)

Hmmm, as for a surprise...there are so many options. Did you want to do a nice dinner somewhere or did you want to try and do something in the park? I'm happy to give some ideas! :)

Hi Beautiful,

I would like to know...

Which Character Breakfast is the best,

and

Which show should we use our preferred seating.

I also would like to get some Ideas for her birthday. I readthat there are a lot of specials, but most seem for children. I would love something in a park that I could surprize her with, but something delivered to the room might be nice too.....

Well, the most popular character meal is at Goofy's Kitchen. :) Storyteller's has great food but the characters don't come around to the tables like they do at Goofy's.

As for the preferred seating, I would go with Aladdin for that.

You're right that most of the events seem geared to the younger crowd so you might want to consider just having something delivered to the room. It's pretty hard to plan an in-park event. Do be sure she gets her birthday sticker from City Hall on her big day, though, the CMs will make sure to wish her a happy birthday. :)

I'd also suggest dinner at one of the hotel restaurants or at Downtown Disney; there are lots of great choices. :)

Someone suggested that we use the preferred seating on Phantasmic, or do they have a Dinner and Movie like in Florida?

Do you know what this entails? What types of celebrations, and can you request certain characters??? It is amazing....you think you know so much about Disney and then come here and realize there is SO much more!! THANKS!!!

I'm not Micelle, but I have an answer for you jiminy579,

Simply put, if you can imagine it, they can do it. (within the limits of good taste in a family environment, and the more intricate, the more $$$)

Most of the characters can be arranged (the more notice you give them the better). If you call them they probably have some pre-boxed suggestions for individual events. If it is as big as a wedding, or major event with lots of people, you might even get a coordinater to help you! (They have those in FL, I am not sure about the CA parks.

IOW, Call them, I think you will find it worth it.
(I would also keep a pen and paper handy for notes)

Have a Magical Day

(OK Michelle, was my answer up to your standards?)

I'm going to DLC in April and whilst we're there I'm going to be celebrating my last ever birthday(I'm counting backwards after that - LOL)
I'm going with my eldest DS(9) and really want to have a nice day.
I quite fancy Goofy's Kitchen for Dinner but might that be a little young for me?? Also how does the PS system work for DLC - I'm only used to doing PS's at WDW.

I'd love to do the princess thing but I think I'm way too old for that and DS might get sick from the prescence of too many yucky girls!!!!

Any help anyone??

elisebutt,
I think you should go all out for your birthday, after all.....we only get one per year!! I love Goofy's Kitchen and the atmosphere, and think you should do that if you really want. However, here are some other options.
Blue Bayou.......What fun for both you and your son! They actually give you cute pirate hats, they are the kids menus! You could request a nice table by the water and watch the boats go by.
Ariel's Grotto or Storyteller's Cafe.......I haven't eaten at either place yet, but have read wonderul things about both character meals here on this board.
Disneyland also offers an actual "birthday party" everyday at 3pm. I believe it is at the Plaza??? Hopefully someone else will chime in with the correct name if I am wrong. Pat E. Cake helps everyone celebrate! That would be fun for both you and your son as well. Check out www.disneyland.com for more info. Another great site I check before every trip is: www.mousesavers.com
I hope you have a WONDERFUL time!!!
Take care and best wishes!

I went to disneyland on my 20th birthday and it was awesome. Yea you go to city hall and they write your name and how old you are on a sticker. I had dinner at story tellers and they brought me a mickey ears ice cream cake for dessert. Even though im an adult all the cast members wished me a happy birthday. It was awesome

Birthday Magic at Resort full-service restaurants

Has anyone done this for a young adult? Looking for a way to surprise my daughter who will be turning 22 when we get to DL.

Anyone have a recommendation of a great place to eat to celebrate her birthday.

I surprised my son on his birthday in WDW so would love to do this for my daughter.

If you are staying at one of the resort hotels, they will give you a birthday "button" rather then the sticker.

I think every single Cm we saw that day wished my son happy birthday!

The crowd control also pulled him up at the parade and had the crowd sing happy birthday to him.

Do you simply tell a cm at the resort at the time of checkin that it's someone's birthday to get a Happy Birthday button or do you need to call in advance?

We are staying at the PP in Nov and I called to ask about the birthday button and was told the buttons are given out "on availability" otherwise you get a sticker. I don't think you need to call ahead but you can if you want and request a character photo too!

We just asked at check in and we were given a button. You don't have to show id that it is your birthday... many people celebrate it as close to the date as they can make it to the park.

The hotels have tradionally given out buttons if they have them, and the parks have given out stickers. We have gotten buttons by asking at the front desk, but one time we also said it was our daughters birthday when we made the ressies, and they had one for us when we checked in.

Starting with the new promotion DL will now have birthday, anniversay, and a couple more buttons (don't remember what they are) that it sounded like would be available at guest relations. Since all 3 of our birthdays are in december we won't be checking it out for awhile.
