We will be in FL in Dec and wanted to take a day or two to go over to the Tampa Bay area. My Dh has had a couple of job offers here, and we want to check it out! Some have suggested staying overnight. Can anyone recommend a nice place to stay? Some have told us that we want to stay on the other side of the "bridge". What bridge is this? Is there a nice place to stay over on the other side of it? Any thing we should see while there? What's to do? Thanks!

Don't know about Tampa Bay, but we just returned from St Pete Beach(not far from Tampa at all) and stayed at the 4* Don Cesar. It was absolutely wonderful! Cannot say enough good things about the place or the people there. www.doncesar.com

Two excellent hotels in Tampa itself are the Radisson Riverwalk and Radisson Bay Harbor. The bridge mentioned is probably the long Howard Franklin Bridge across the bay to St Petersburg. St Pete's is also a lovely place to stay, with an excellent shopping/entertainment district called Baywalk.

Clearwater Beach, Treasure Island, etc, are "across the bridge". They are really a chain of small islands linked together just off the shore line of Tampa.

There are several nice hotels - in the city and on the beach. Look at Clearwater Beach, Sand Key, Treasure Island for beach hotels -These are all on the Gulf of Mexico with fabulous sunsets and pretty beaches. Or Tampa/St. Pete if you want to stay in the city.

Have a blast!

Tampa is fun!
