Would I be wasting my time on booking a parasailing and banana boat ride excursion ahead of time?
I wanted to be sure that we do those on the trip...but wasn't sure if it was necessary.
Also, does anyone know if both those are offered at Nassau, Freeport and CC?
Does anyone have any recommendations on which excursions definitely book up quickly for the Eastern 4 day cruise ( with a stop in Freeport )?

IN my opinion you can save a lot of money booking your own excursions and you have a lot more options in trips available too:D

both are available at CC...although I hear you can parasail cheaper at the islands on your own. You will need to book them asap. We did both activites at CC and absolutely loved them. Dh and dd(10) parasailed tandem. Dh had done it solo years ago and enjoyed it, but after doing it with dd, he said he will never go alone again! Banana boats are a total blast...my favorite thing to do!

Make sure that you book at CC 60 days prior to sailing. Otherwise you will be out of luck. I understand that these fill up immediately on the day they are available to book.

We didn't book the CC parasailing in advance, but waited until on the boat and it was booked. However, we checked with the Parasailing booth once we arrived on CC (just past the post office) and they had space for us and added us on the spot. We got that advice from the excursion desk on the ship. So, even if you don't plan ahead, there is still hope.

We booked the banana boat in advance and were glad we did. Our family of 6 had a great time. We didn't book the parasialing and sure enough, it was full. We even tried as we got off the boat at CC but they only had a few opening through the day and only for singles. Book in advance if you can.

Yes, you can parasail at several other ports along the way. We were on the western, and they definitely had it available in Cozumel. However, it didn't look nearly as safe, and the crews didn't speak English. Now for me, if I was trying something as scary as parasailing for the first time, I'd want to be able to understand what the crew was saying (lol)!!
It is $70 at Castaway Cay. My DH ended up doing it twice because we had bought a tandam pass for him and DS. Once on the boat, DS didn't want to do it.
DD and I did the banana boat. I agree that it was lots of fun. Some advice though. 1) wear shorts. You get bounced up and down and back and forth on a tube that has a pretty fair amount of grit from the sand. DD and I ended up with a diaper rash looking thing on our inner thighs! 2) Wear sunglasses or goggles (held on with a strap of course). The salt water splashes into your face a LOT. It BURNS! 3) Don't do it if you don't have reasonably strong arms. It's tough to hold on.
Enjoy!

It sounds like if I want to parasail and do the banana boat, it would be better to book the parasailing and Banana boat excursion soon.
Thanks for your suggestions....
