:wave:Hey guys I'm back from few days of camping at the beach.:beach:

I had a great time. Weather couldn't have been better. Even a little chilly at night. Needed a sweat shirt. Water was FREEZING. Not a whole lot of people swimming. We've had nothing but rain for almost all of June..and even July hasn't been that warm yet. Windy..but beautiful just the same. While I've been to this park for a day trip, this was our first time camping there. I was only able to grab a few days. I didn't realize that you had to reserve at the 180 day mark, and most of the summer is totally booked. I was lucky to get the three nights we had. It's less than an hour from our house. Bob left work early to tow us out on the island Monday and came out each night after work. Tuesday, my kids and a couple of friends came and spent the day mooching..(now all of a sudden they like camping again..lol) the following day my sister came with her kids. She doesn't own a camper but wants to rent one for next summer and spend a week.
This was a county park on the south shore of Long Island. Smith Point. I was really impressed with how clean it was. The showers and restrooms were spotless. Tight security with the state police riding through occasionally. The sites are between the ocean and the bay, so you have a nice view either way. It's a barrier island off the coast of Long Island. We probably had the nicest site in the place. BEAUTIFUL view of the ocean. We also saw deer grazing near the dunes in the high grass. Lots of trucks driving right out on to the beach. They have an area where they can dry camp in the sand. Personally..I liked having a cement slab patio. The beach entry was a short walk from our site.
Here are few pics taken with my phone..because I forgot my camera.Duh! Bob's got a few he took, but I've got to wait for him to upload them into the computer.

I want to go camping on the beach! Looks so peaceful - and what I like about it is the breeze that always comes off the water. Of course, down south - we like the breeze as it is NEVER freezing at night in the summer!

Glad you had a nice time - and glad the kiddos came. Are those yours in the picture of the four?

It was warm the day we left, and probably would have need to use the a/c if we had stayed over that night. It was very relaxing being able to fall asleep to the sound of the surf on the beach at night.

Glad you had a nice time - and glad the kiddos came. Are those yours in the picture of the four?

The two in the middle are mine..the other two are friends they brought.

That would be so much fun! It's funny we've had our trailer for NINE years.( I can't believe it:sad2:) Yet, we've never camped there. We had six years of being seasonal in two different upstate NY campgrounds..and sort of forgot about camping close to home. Now that we've camped there, we can't wait to go back.
I'll be sure to let you know when I plan to make reservations for next summer.;) I figure around January.

About 7-8 years ago Debbie, my youngest and I were at MGM waiting in line to get a picture with Tigger - Kim's favorite - when we finally got to the head of the line Debbie says give me your camera and I'll take your pic - and I said I thought you had the camera - no one did and no phone cameras then. Needless to say we missed that photo op but still laugh about it - that's why my phone has a 3.2mp camera - :rotfl2:

Oh..that reminds me.
I could have kicked myself when I didn't have a camera on Wednesday. pirate: We were sitting on the beach enjoying the day.:sunny: I heard the drone of airplane engines. Now..I'm used hearing low flying planes living between three commercial airports. Only these were the sounds of small planes. Made me think of my dad. So I was telling my nephew about how his grandpa used to fly his plane right over us when we were kids vacationing in Lake George. He would fly over the cove and tip the wings as if waving goodbye. Anyway, we were watching this one plane soar upward and then dive..cutting the engine. Looked as if he was going to crash into the sea.:scared1: Then he'd pull up and soar back up.:duck: He looked as if he was tipping the wing..when he flipped the plane wing over wing over wing! Three times... It was incredible! It would take your breath away. There we were...with front row seats to this air show over the ocean.pixiedust:

Unless it's to come down to the Fort in October to party with all of us. You still have an invite to join us in the cabin.
