We have a 2br lock-off reserved at VWL for next February. If my Uncle and Aunt are unable to go, we will keep the 2 bedroom, but would then prefer a dedicated..... Do ressies have to be completely changed to a dedicated, or can I just add it as a room request, if available? Either way we will keep the 2 bedroom. Has anyone had a experience with the lock-off/dedicated room assignments?

Most likely, they will be able to simply add it as a request for you. I doubt you will have to cancel and rebook as a dedicated 2BR.
Good Luck! :)

If you would please let us know what the outcome of this is. I would be curious if dedicated and lock-offs are requests or reservations. If I reserve a dedicated, I would like to know that I am getting a dedicated with 2 queen beds (BCV). If this were simply a request it is not gauranteed, if it is a reservation then it is somewhat gauranteed, in this case there would actually have to be a 2 bedroom dedicated available in inventory and you would have to cancel your lock-off and re-book. Does that make any sense? Anyway, please let us know what you find out from MS.

I think that the dedicated and lock-off villas can be reserved on a guaranteed basis and ,if so, you will get a confirmation stating the villa type.
If you later wish to change from one room-type to another, it may need to be on a "request" basis if all of that room-type has already been "guaranteed". Since reservations change all the time at Disney resorts, the requested dedicated or lock-off will very likely become available by your check-in date.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies! Our confirmation does say "lock-off" so I did assume that was guaranteed. When I made the ressie, MS told me if I was not 100% sure which I would want, then I should ask for a lock-off. She said there are less 2br lock-offs available in inventory than dedicated. I did not ask how and if I could change at a later date. If we end up trying to switch to a dedicated, I'll post on how it went!
