I booked our rooms for November and December months ago with a 40% off pin code I received. It's not an AP code just a regular ol' email pin code. I called today to talk about adding another adult onto our ressie(we're up to 8!) and I then asked about adding the dining plan. The CM said I could we would just cancel the ressie and rebook with the 40% off code and make it a package to get the dining plan.

That pin code is no longer good though right? And if he cancels our existing ressie I might lose my MK view from the Contemporary right? :scared1:

Help?

I thought all you had to do was buy passes along with your room reservation, and then it becomes a package to where you can add the dining plan.

That's not exactly it - a room only reservation is completely different from a package reservation. On the former, the room and tickets are purchased separately even if you bought them on the phone during the same transaction. To get a dining plan you have to be able to buy the room and tickets as a package reservation. (Package reservations have very different deposit, payment and cancellation policies than room-only reservations - $200 deposit required and full payment is due 45 days before arrival, plus you are subject to cancellation fees if you cancel after the 45 days).

If your 40% discount is applicable to a package, a Disney agent should be able to convert the reservation to a package, add tickets and the dining plan, and retain the discount on the room. Yes, they would have to cancel the room only reservation to rebook as a package. And yes, the room you had, especially if it's a special category room, would have to be available as a package reservation at the time you rebook. I don't know if they can just cancel and then rebook the same room as a package - you 'd need to ask a Disney rep that.
