With all the interest in how hard it really is to book BLT without being an owner there, I thought we should have a thread that collects our experiences at the 7-month window (and shorter).

I tried this thread on another (smaller) board, and generally it seemed that non-owners at BLT are having good success using their non-BLT points for Bay Lake views at 7 months, some success getting Standard views, and NO success getting MK views. For less than 7 months, there are a few successes for Bay Lake view, and that's about it.

I'll start:

My SSR points recently got us our choice of a 1-bedroom or a Studio (Standard or Bay Lake View...no MK View available) for early February.

What have been your experiences?

I booked a LV 1 Br at just over 6 months out for my birthday in November. I really wanted a studio and waitlisted which came through about a week ago for LV also...

Just this week I was able to book a 1 bedroom Bay Lake view for mid-January (6 months out). The CM said there was plenty available. I told my co-worker and he booked a 2 bedroom Bay Lake view for the last week of January also.

While we don't fall into the non-BLT owner category, our booking does fall into the less than 7 month window so anyone could have booked it.

We were able to get 1BR Lake view for Dec 6-10 just under 6 months out.

We've been trying to get Dec 3-6 in a studio any view, but no luck. Hoping a WL comes through. Wish we had this WL before they declared more rooms in June.

Hopefully BLT sales stay active so that they declare more rooms in the next month or so and WL comes through for everyone.

We booked 9 nights in a BLT 1BR water view for late October a few months ago and waitlisted for one more night and that just came through. I was surprised it worked out so easily!

I am a BLT owner, but I booked September 1-BR Bay Lake View on June 7... About 3.5 months out. 4 nights, Sept 9-13. I had my choice of Bay Lake or Standard View. MK view was booked.

I got a 2 bedroom MK view right at the 7 month mark for our dates in January. The difference in points from our BCV reservation was a little tough to swallow. I hope we don't end up on the fourth floor:scared: It's my wifes 40th birthday, so I was glad I could book something special.

I booked a SV 1 br whenever the dates opened for non-BLT owners. So my kids have a SV for our family gathering in September 09. Only my daughter has figured out thats where they're staying -- the older adults are all at Kidani in a 2 br,

What have been your experiences? I'm a non-owner staying in a one bedroom BLT MK view villa for one night in December.

I didn't get the idea until after the 7 month window had been open for a few weeks. I called and got a studio Lake view but waitlisted for a studio MK view for Dec. 12. Then when I called about a month later for something else, I checked on my waitlist with MS. They didn't have a studio MK view but they DID have a one bedroom MK view for Dec 12. I booked it.

At 7 months I was able to get 5 out of 6 of my nights for a studio lakeview I waitlisted the other night and it came thru!

So we will be at BLT for 6 nights in a studio lakeview 10/31-11/06 :cool1:

= Whats wrong with the 4th floor??

Spending those extra points, I'm hoping for as nice a view as possible. A higher floor would be preferable. I've never put a request on a reservation or changed rooms, but for this trip I will have all my fingers crossed for an upper floor.

I got a Bay Lake view 2 bdrm lockoff at the 7 month mark for 1/3/10 to 1/8/10. However, I think what we all need to keep in mind is the fact that as more units sell at BLT the tougher it will become to get something at the 7 month mark. Sure, it's pretty easy now, but, it isn't completely sold yet. Once ownership is at capacity it will become much more difficult. We've pretty much decided this probably will be our only stay as non-owners at BLT and if we add-on in the next few years (getting ready for retirement) I doubt it will be at BLT.

Ok - I thought perhaps there was a concern about having a room on the same level as the bridge to the tower. I actually don't know what floor that is, but thought based on the "4th floor" comment perhaps it is 4.

At the 7 month mark, I was able to book a 2 bedroom lake view for Jan 30 - Feb 6. MK view was also available but Standard view was not. For a second, I really wanted to book MK view when he said it was available, but way too many points for a 2 bedroom.

BLT lake view should actually be a pretty easy "get" at 6-7 months.

Booked yesterday:

1BR Bay Lake View for 2/14-2/19/10, 7 months out.

Had my choice of 2BR Ded., 2BR L/O, and 1BR's. Didn't ask about studios or MK/Standard view.

Since it appeared that most people were getting BLT, I decided to try to use some non-BLT points for a couple of ressies :rolleyes1. I have had mixed results.

Ressie #1 at 6 months prior:
1-6 Dec a studio--no dice for any BLT view. I wait listed LV...still waiting.

Ressie #2 at exactly 7 months prior:
5-7 Feb a studio (Fri/Sat visit) all views available, booked a MK view.

I was playing around with the cash rates for August and with the published 35% off rates, you can get a 7 day stay at BLT in a 1BRMK view for less than what you would pay if you were renting those points from a BLT owner at $10 a point. We have no plans on going right now since we just came back, but it is so tempting with out APs.

I got 2 bedroom lake view for Feb 10-20 and made the reservation right at the 7 month window. I was wondering if I should wait list for a MK view. I know that it is more points but I have extra as we didn't go this year. Will there be a chance as they declare more units into inventory? I am confused by declaring. Are not all the rooms available now? Is it just what has been declared into inventory?:confused3

Should I call back to be put on waitlist?
thanks, PBC

Yes, there is a chance as they declare more rooms. Currently declared...
52 dedicated 2 BRs
64 2BR lockoffs (can be split into 1BR + 1 Studio reservations)
7 Grand villas
Total 123 declared (158 undeclared)

DVC only allows the total declared rooms to be booked by DVC. The remainder Disney uses for cash reservations.

From what I've heard, BLT sales have been going well enough that they have been declaring more rooms every 1-3 months. Earlier today, I count 1299 new BLT contracts registered on the OCC's web site since the declaration date so it's very likely they will register more rooms in the next month or two.

A handful of people reported getting their WL when the last declaration occured.

I called to book Feb 13-17th and they had a 2BR Bay view available. I waited on my sister in law to make a decision if they were going with us and then called back the following day. Gone. Night of 14th not available. So I booked 13 at BLT, 14th at AKL, 15-17 at BLT. I waitlisted the night of the 14th and hope it comes through because it will be a pain in the behind to move.

I was able to book MK view at BLT for Feb 21 thru 26th in a Studio....Guest Services told me that was the first 5 day window available in Feb. We will be going to AK Concierge this October 11 for 5 days ...and i booked that out at 11 month window. Seems like it will be tough to get what i want for dates in the future for BLT ...and i have a home contract there as well as AK!!!

We cancelled our AKV Kidani studio savannah view for 10/21-10/26 to get the chance to stay in BLT. We own at AKV so we figured we could stay there another time and that staying at BLT another time may not be as easy. We called the day they opened it up for non owners. We were able to get a LV studio for the length of our stay. We WL for a MK view, but I don't expect it to come through. It really doesn't matter because we will be staying at BLT and will be at WDW.

At 7 months out, I waitlisted for standard view or lake view dedicated 2 bedroom for January 6-11. This covers the Marathon weekend. Within a month, I had the lake view. About a week ago, I decided that I should probably try to save some points, so I am presently on a waitlist for the standard view. I can only stay on the waitlist until the end of October because that's my banking deadline. Standard view would save me 19 points to bank, if I get it, fine, otherwise, we are thrilled to be at BLT.

I called for 11/28/09 - 12/4/09 the first dy the 7 month window opened (back on 4/28/09). I was able to get a Lake View 1 bedroom.

Waitlisted for a Standard View 1 Bedroom. Waitlist came through last week sometime. Not sure if I am happy or sad about that, though, LOL. Lake views look superb!

I didn't try for a MK view - couldn't bring myself to pay the premium, especially since the castle comes with a good view of the parking lots!

We were worried as well but......we are not going to let that be a source of dissapointment. The dissapointment would come from not giving the MK view a shot and letting us decide for ourselves if it (could be) as bad as some people say.:goodvibes
