Griffith Observatory shuttle bus

How easy is it to take the 25cents weekend shuttle bus from Vermont/Sunset? Is the area safe?

We are staying at Sheraton Universal and planning on taking the red line metro to Hollywood/Highland and then to Griffith Observatory.

Thinking about canceling our rental car and taking shuttles instead.

Did you end up catching the shuttle? How did it go?

Sorry, didn't end up going to the Griffith Observatory. We only spent an evening at hollywood/highland center. My boys enjoyed U-wink restaurant. Cool restaurant with touch screen tv's for games right at the table. We did take the Metro train. Was very easy. Tough walk, uphill back to the Sheraton.
