This is Thread #25 of the BOB threads. Over 91,000 posts and still going strong.
If you're new to our group, you're not alone. Several of us have sailed together before (on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise - a.k.a. Konked Kruisers) and several more are new. To indicate the ones new to the group, we have put an * infront of their DIS name.

The following is the same as the other first posts. For those of you new to our DIS Meet thread - WELCOME. There is plenty of good info in this post.
As usual, I'll be back here to update this post periodically. I will try to keep important information up here for all to reference as well as for all our new friends who come to cruise with us. If something of importance comes up, PM me and I will add the link.
We have dubbed this cruise "The Bash on the Boat" because so many people are celebrating birthdays or anniversaries on this cruise. You will also see "KK2" in the title. As you will read, many of us just sailed together on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise. So, with many of us returning here, we are dubbing this KK2. For those of you who didn't sail with us, please don't feel that you are not part of the group. We are a very open and welcoming/friendly bunch. We had such a great cruise last time, but feel it will be even better this time. Come along and enjoy the fun. We will get off-topic many times over the next 2 years, but it is a great way to get to know everyone.

In case you're wondering how the points work for the Googley Eye Game (click here). For the final official post on the thread, click here.
In case anyone is wondering what the FO game we play here on the B.O.B. cruise meets thread, here is the explanation:
FO is a game (for lack of a better description) that was started on the Konked Kruiser thread that some of us belonged to for the October 07 cruise. The term FO was started by afeg.
Anyway, the game in a nutshell....if you post, and your post is the beginning of a page, then you try to get the second post on the page also. It means you have started a "Fresh One".
Now, this isn't always as easy as it seems - if there are multiple posters on at the same time, and someone else gets the second post, you don't get to "claim the FO". The 40 second rule between postings comes into play.

Ok - I am ALL caught up on everyone. Whew - since this is my first foray into the DIS message boards, I have to ask.... are we the CHATTIEST group that is currently active. Holey-moley!! We love us some chitter-chatter! :cool1::rotfl2:
Today I am feeling better  and getting ready for my trip out to Chicago (via train.... whoa....). Should be a lot of fun. I am going for the Pampered Chef National Confernce, however all I can think about is all the fun things to do in Chicago - White Sox game, Magnificent Mile shopping, Sears Tower.... don't know how much of the conference I will actually see!! :rotfl:
Dave's dad is doing better (I think...) He was moved out of ICU and into a normal room - still waiting for infeciton to go away so they can do surgery, but they are going to fix ONE of the things first and hope the others correct with that one. Doctors are amazing I must say. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts!
Dave is calling me to bed, so I better go. I do have some more packing to do, but that can wait.... (laundry still going).

I loved all the pictures on the last thread. Matthew I loved the Nemo show too. You have some great pictures. I want to eat the kitchen sink too. It looks yummy. Cass, those are some cute pictures of Kira. She looks all grown up. I like her on the springer motorcycle. Well another busy day today. Laundry, checking kids, they did not want to go shopping with me so I checked them every hour or so. Then I brought Asiah to gymnastics then both of them to track. It was sure hot there. 104 degrees. Tomorrow have a doctors appt in the am, then take daughter's truck in for oil change. Then Elijah has basketball and Asiah track so I will go with one of them and my daughter will go with the other one. Another busy day.

Got to my 10,000 steps yesterday:banana:
Doing gardening this morning, ironing this afternoon, school - work inbetween, cubs fair this evening.
I bought myself a WW quiche yesterday - looks nice and only 5 1/2 points.:thumbsup2 I'll have it with salad and a few new potatoes tonight for dinner. I have a sausage I saved back from last nights dinner in the fridge - I'm treating myself to a sausage buttie for breakfast :cloud9:once I've got Ellis off to school. WW bread - 1 point a slice to that wont be too bad, but it'll feel like a treat!
I hope I'm not boring you all too much with the details but if I dont write it down I'm likely to cheat:rolleyes1:lmao:

The only problem was the peanut butter at the bottom. My kids don't like peanut butter! We had substituted an extra chocolate scoop for the coffee ice cream, but didn't see that peanut butter is a topping until it was too late. That's what created the bowls that were left... they didn't like the peanut butter! But at least we didn't hit it until nearly the end anyway.

Broccolli soup recipe for Nancy - warning! - its 2 points though
POINTSŪ Value: 2
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 14 min
Cooking Time: 20 min
Level of Difficulty: Easy
Works with Simply Filling
Evaporated skim milk is a healthy way to add creaminess to soup instead of using cream.
Ingredients
1 medium onion(s), chopped
1 medium garlic clove(s), minced
2 pound(s) broccoli, tough ends removed, stems and florets chopped
4 cup(s) fat-free chicken broth, or vegetable broth
1 cup(s) fat-free evaporated milk
1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce, or to taste
1/4 tsp table salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
Instructions
Combine onion and garlic in a 2-quart saucepan with 1/4 cup of water. Simmer until onion is soft, about 10 minutes; spoon vegetables into a large pot.
Add broccoli and broth to pot; bring to a boil over high heat. Once soup boils, reduce heat and simmer until broccoli is soft but still green, about 8 minutes. Do not cover pot while broccoli is cooking or it will turn gray.
Remove soup from heat; puree until smooth in batches in a blender (be careful not to splatter hot liquid) or puree in pot using an immersion blender. Add evaporated milk and hot pepper sauce to soup; season to taste with salt and pepper. Yields about 1 3/4 cups per serving.
Notes
Fresh chives brighten the flavor of cream soups. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of minced chives over each serving. Or, if available, garnish each bowl with 1 chive blossom.

Joanne - love the pics of Turner field - makes me look forward to Saturday when I go see the Chicago White Sox!
My girls are having a great time in Pensacola. Swimming EVERY day - having "dates" with their papaw - playing all day... just what kids are supposed to do for the summer.
I'm heading off to the train in the morning.... finally finished packing and ready for the adventure!! Dave is ready for me to get out of the house! LOL He is installing laminate flooring in the bedroom and is actually excited about it!
Well - I'll check in a few more times before bed - hopefully some friends will pop up.

Good morning all....
Just stopping to say hello quickly before work....my co-worker, primary backup, and a good friend officially went on maternity leave today (doctor ordered bedrest and it's likely they will induce her this week). So, that means some extra stress for me at work for a little while, but the good news is she'll be back from leave in time for me to go on the cruise with no worries! She's having a girl (her first) and we're all so excited!!!!

Then when Dave's alarm went off at 5:15 (when mine was set for 8:00) - I couldn't go BACK to sleep. So, I've been up forever - just piddling...
My ride to the train station comes in a few minutes... she is so excited too!! I have a surprise for my 2 travel companions. Amtrak dropped the price of the Family Bedroom Accomodation more than 70% off, so for the trip to Chicago, (from DC) - we have our own Sleeping room! Can't wait to tell them.
I have my phone and my computer, so I will make sure to catch up with you guys and not miss anything important!

Good morning everyone. Me and the kids slept in a little bit, but I am soon off to work. I have a board meeting this evening, so I guess it isn't too bad that I am slow to get in today.
I should be on from work today. I am having major IT problems though. Our corporate office in NY has ran updates that has removed our membership to the domain. As a result, I can't log in from my office desktop. I am taking my laptop today and I hope it doesn't run those updates either. I could just not restart it until they fix it I guess.
Ok, since the booking window for a lot of us will be here soon....anyone want to talk excursion planning???

St. Maarten:
Our whole clan is just going to the beach. I asked my dad and he thinks the name is Great Bay or something like that. Does that ring a bell for anyone? While there we are renting a couple of jet skis.
St. Thomas:
Our whole clan is taking the St. John/Trunk Bay Snorkel and Beach Break
Castaway Cay:
I'm going snorkeling probably with Sam. Our clan will be staked out on the family beach though for most of the day.

Just made a lovely meal:cloud9:
I did baked stuffed mushrooms to start (mostly stuffed with veggies then topped with a teeny bit of cheese)
Then chicken in a white wine sauce - (low in fat)
with pasta - (just a little) and loads of cauliflower - bar boiled then sprinkled with a little of the white wine sauce and topped with sprinkles of stilton and baked - georgous! - and hardly any points!
I did have a slice of garlic bread but I'm still within my points.
Its taking a lot more effort preping the meals, but I'm enjoying them and filling up on more veggies than ever before!:yay:
Anyone got any easy chicken or vegetarian recipes that are low in points?

Karen - swap for Turkey or Quorn. Lot lower in fat.
Rick and I regularly use the quorn mince for a bolognaise or shepherds pie and the diced quorn for a Tikka Curry. We use the ww low fat ready made sauces.
The tomato sauces are also lower in fat. I've also used the Campbells Low fat soups as a sauce.
OK, I guess I'm a thread killer now?:confused3

Is turkey much lower than chicken? I usually buy lean skinless chicken breasts. I quite like quorn - good idea - Neil, however, would rather eat his own smelly socks than eat quorn:rotfl2:.... "stupid pretend meat" - I think thats what he called it:rotfl2:

Went through excrutiating pain this am at work when my kidney stone moved!:scared:
Bob took me to the emergency room. They gave me good meds and now I have to take some Flomax to open up my tubes and pass it at home.
They sent me home with good drugs too, but warned me that passing a stone is like giving birth:eek:
Poor Bob, yesterday he popped some muscle in his calf, actually heard it pop!, can barely walk... but drove over to my workplace and picked me up to take me to ER. Then went to his MRI appt.
Between, the ferret, Bob and I were all in rough shape here:sick:

Awesome. I love it!
St.
I 'm planning much the same except I think that we will take a tour of St. Maarten. the one with the butterfly tour.
I totally finished my gifts for my tag bags today:woohoo:
I've even part assembled the bags with the flat stuff:thumbsup2, (just got to add the rest of the things when I get onbaord as it takes up too much room otherwise - I learned the hard way last time and they took up a whole holdall!:scared1:)
Still need to attach the labels to the bags though, but cant do all of them til I know the room numbers of the guarantees
Its exciting now its getting so near.:yay::yay:
Ellis cant believe we're getting 27 tag bags during the week:banana::banana:
He's so excited:cutie: (so am I!:rolleyes1)
Good Job. I knocked out mine a week ago. I'm hoping that they'll go over well.

Nice!
Good Morning, Good Morning, to you
Is turkey much lower than chicken? I usually buy lean skinless chicken breasts. I quite like quorn - good idea - Neil, however, would rather eat his own smelly socks than eat quorn:rotfl2:.... "stupid pretend meat" - I think thats what he called it:rotfl2:
I need to look out for WW sauces :thumbsup2 - I was in a hurry on my last shop so just got what I knew rather than having time to browse. Which ones are nicest?
Yes, turkey is lower in fat. The Quorn mince is like a very fine ground beef. We like it. As for the ww sauces, they're all good the pasta ones especially.
Well, I'm off to pack up a moving van and say farewell to Jesse and Kristin who are moving to Arizona tomorrow.
It's been a sad day here already and tonight will only be worse.
Can I ask my BOBer friends to say a little prayer for a safe trip for them please?

Hi guys, just checking in.
Hopefully I can get Sean to do something:rolleyes:
Oh my word, Rose. You lot are in the wars aren't you. :grouphug::grouphug: for you all too.

Honestly, it was a lousy evening last night. Let's just say my eyes are so puffy that make-up is not an option today.
The kids won't get to Mesa until late Saturday or early Sunday morning. They are driving 8 hours to Jesse's aunt's house in Nebraska today. They'll stay overnight there and then off to Colorado for another 8 hour trip. Then on Saturday they'll drive the last 8 hours to Mesa. :scared1:
I did not go along because Jesse's cousin is occupying the only empty seat in any of the cars. It's probably a good thing though because I don't know if I could take yet another "see ya real soon".

How fun, does she not think something is up with all the parents coming? When it gets closer have them link to you and we will all be together. We sant with a family with the parents from Columbia in May and it went well. we had a few words that were hard to understand but it was all good.
I will do that. It would be great. I know my parents would love it. Jose and Megan will be there to translate for us. I think she is getting suspicious but has not said anything yet.
