Getting jazzed up for my upcoming Disneyland trip has me thinking about what rides/attractions I really miss. For me it is the short lived Rocket Rods in Tomorrowland and the People mover. The ride I don't miss is the gondolas that used hang over Disneyland. Speaking of the Rocket Rods does anyone know the reason they got rid of them. All of the money and time spent on planning and creating for only to be there for a couple of years. I loved them!! Share with us your favorites or not so favorite past attractions. :)

As far as I know, they got rid of the Rocket Rods because they were always stalling/breaking down. Something to do with the tracks originally designed for the Peoplemover, which was slow moving, not working well with a faster moving ride.
Me, I miss Adventure Thru Inner Space. It wasn't very popular by the time they closed it, but it was such a cool, original ride. I remember riding it for the first time, when I was about 5, and crying because I thought I'd never be able to return to narmal size after "shrinking". The room with the giant glittery snowflakes was my favorite part. That and the creepy giant eye looking down on the Atomobiles when the ride ended.
And, not a ride, but a restaurant: I really, really miss the Tahitian Terrace. It fit so well with the Adventureland theme; to me it was sort of an extension of the Tiki Room. I wish they'd bring it back, or at least bring back the Aladdin's Oasis restaurant that took its place.
I can't think of anything that was in the Park that I was glad to see go.

I actually liked the RR too!
I can't think of anything else I miss tho.
Btw, the RR got taken out because they had too many mechanical issues. (All the constant slowing, then speeding up..etc)

I loved Rocket Rods, but that was back when I was a little kid. I'm sure I would love them still, but not as much. They had many problems with the ride. For one thing, since it was a high speed ride, every time a car got to a turn it needed to slow down (since the track was built for the slow-moving peoplemover and was not banked). The constant speeding up and slowing down was hard on the cars, especially the tires I think and expensive to keep up.
What a lot of people remember also about the ride was its super long line because it had one of the worst capacities ever!
Anyways, I do miss Rocket Rods. I guess I'm not old enough to miss many other attractions, but I do not miss Country Bear Jamboree. It always used to bore me, and even when we went to WDW a couple years ago and saw it again, it bored me greatly.

And the part of the line that wound through the old Circlevison Theater...I remember going on the Rocket Rods a few weeks after they opened, and being stuck in that room for what felt like forever! Being surrounded in 360 degrees with projected images of speeding race cars was even more nausea-inducing for me than the Teacups. It was a cool ride, though, especially at night; too bad the mechanical issues couldn't be worked out.

i really miss the people mover, and the cars that would take you along the line from fantasyland to tomorrow land in the sky, i think they were called sky cars. Also the country bear Jamboree was so cool.

Wow, I miss all the ones that were said: Skyway, People Mover & Rocket Rods. I wore my Skyway shirt the the parks one day & a CM asked me if I ever experienced them. In my brain I was thinking, "If I didn't why would I be wearing this shirt?" :confused3:laughing:
I had heard they got rid of them because they broke down more often then they were working and it just became a money sucker, however that could just be a rumor.
I miss country bears. I love winnie the pooh, but I really miss my bears. I've always thought Winnie the pooh could have easily gone in place of a gift shop or something instead of the country bears theatre.

America Sings! I can't believe I forgot to mention that! When I was little, it was always the last thing my family would do in the Park before we'd call it a night!

I *really* miss the People Mover, it always gave us a nice break...I loved the Tron portion of it. It was sad the one time we went to WDW and their version of it was down :(
I also miss journey through inner space, I used to think it was awesome that we actually got shrunk.

I ditto missing the Skyway and America Sings. I don't miss the Country Bear Jamboree. I was all excited last year at WDW to see it because it's been closed at DLR for so many years, but it was just painful to watch. Plus I lost my lip balm there (a day-altering event for me until I found more, three gift shops later)

Me too! I loved Inner Space! Especially the part where you saw the eye looking at you while you were under the microscope! I used to call it the Microscope Ride. :) I liked the PM also. Maybe they will bring it back updated some year when they get around to fixing up TL.

I have high hopes they will bring back the people mover someday. I used to think the giant eye actually belonged to a CM and they were making sure we were returned to our normal size :rotfl:

Is it sad that I like this better as a smoking area?
Like a lot of people, I miss the people mover. I also miss the Country Bear Jamboree, but imho I don't think children of today's society would be entertained by it.
