View Full Version : Aug Trip from Seattle to Orlando All Set! UPDATED: What are your Trip ADRs?
Yay!!! This week, we completed the last few things for our trip:
- Paid the final deposit to WDW.
- Booked the overnight hotel near SEATAC airport for our 8:45am flight (great deal from Priceline.com -- got the Doubletree Seattle Airport for $45).
- Reserved a spot at the MasterPark Garage.
Now we just sit back and wait... :rolleyes1...what seems to be forever!
Well, I can always play around with our ADRs. ;)
Anyone else out there who wants to share their pre-trip excitement???

Congrats! We fly out of SeaTac too! So much cheaper. We go in Aug too!!
I usually stay at a Marriott near Southcenter Mall, can get a good rate with Ent. Book, and they let you leave your car there for free. I found it's cheaper than long term parking + hotel, and they shuttle you to airport.

Have a great trip, c&m and Sue M. I notice you are both fellow B.C.'ers! I hope to be taking the family to DW in early 2010 and thought I would probably fly out of Seattle, so it's good to hear these tips. Have fun!

Wooooohooooo! Have a fantastic trip!
We're flying out of SEA too (through ATL on the way there and direct on the way back) - not until September though. All paid up too, MasterPark booked, finalizing our Wegoshop.com grocery order :woohoo:
I'll share in your excitement!! :dance3::yay::woohoo::banana:

Cool! Love Southcenter Mall...and to stay in a hotel CLOSE to it...even better! In fact, as soon as we check into our Doubletree airport hotel, we're heading to Southcenter to have dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Have a great trip!!! :goodvibes

If everyone is up for the short drive to Seattle, it's the best and cheapest option. Our airfare on Alaska Air from SEATAC to MCO was $139 each way. Since we always fly Alaska, we had a lot of mileage points, so we used some of it to cut our airfare 50%. At the end of the day, we paid about $650 total(includes taxes) to fly 4 of us return.

Seattle is a great option and much cheaper. If you mean Jan, Feb 2010 though consider the chance of bad weather. The only time we went over New Years we flew from Vancouver (luckily we had points to soften the blow). If there's a bad snowstorm it can get really bad in Seattle. Just something to be prepared for. At least August is safe. (Aside from the hurricane zone we are traveling to;))

All your ADRs look great! Always wanted to try HDDR and would have done it for this trip...however, for the dates we're going, the only time available for FD plan is the last show @ 9pm. I'm worried my DD10 may keel over from exhaustion. That's too bad you can't get an ADR for Ohana. I've tried daily checking for any availability (to maybe make ours for even 8pm) but there's absolutely nothing. But, I agree with you, watching Wishes from Ohana will be truly spectacular.

Hey, I notice you've stayed at AKL before. Did your school aged kids like it? We booked an AKL pool view room, which was just $5 more per night than a standard view room. I don't think we would have spent the extra $$$ on AKL without the Free Dining plan. FD saved us $$$ on food costs. Initially, we were going to stay at CSR.

My kids absolutely loved it. They were 9 and 11 at the time, well just shy of 10 and 12 actually. It's Disney, so of course they cater to the kids having fun. They really enjoyed the pool and having all the animals around - you really feel completely immersed when you're there. And I know others will say you are too far away or isolated from the action but I never felt that way at all. Everything is a short ride away. We want to stay there again when we go next year. Post back and let us know how your trip went.

Crystal Palace (Breakfast for the puffed french toast :cloud9: )
Kona Cafe (Breakfast to share 2 things TBD ;))

We've been lucky enough to have gone for FD last September, then w/ the 4/3 in March, so our list of must-do's is getting shorter & shorter. Enjoyed eating at the bar at The Wave so may do that again. And usually when our booking time comes up I panic & add an ADR or two.
Happy planning & have wonderful trips everyone!!!

- Reserved a spot at the MasterPark Garage.???
c&m - what are the rates to leave your vehicle at MasterPark Garage?
I have always been curious but never flown out of Seattle mostly because it sounds like such a hassle, but will have to look into some of the tips offered here for future if I want to save some money. Booked Westjet over 6 mths ago for our August trip but did get a good rate because it is much more right now. This is what we got for ADRs, mostly dinners because we are not really big breakfast types:
Planet Hollywood (dinner @ 5:15)
The Crystal Palace (dinner @ 6:30)
Hollywood & Vine (Fantasmic dinner @ 3:45)
Biergarten (dinner @ 6:15)
Coral Reef (dinner @ 6:05)
Tusker House (lunch @ 12:55 reserved seating for Finding Nemo musical)
Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner @ 4:30)
Boma (dinner @ 5:55)
Cape May Café (dinner @ 6:00)
1900 Park Fare (dinner @ 6:05)
Ohana (dinner @ 6:15)
Whispering Canyon Café (dinner @ 6:30)
Chef Mickey’s (dinner @ 6:15)
Have a fabulous trip fellow BCers!

Hi there! There was a thread on MasterPark recently (see my post #3 for pricing): http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2201025
However, I can't seem to find this coupon on the Alaska Air website anymore. :confused3
There are other coupons on the Master Park website, so you can go check it out. We will be using the $59.95 coupon special for 5 consecutive days and the $12 per additional day rate.
As for driving into Seattle, it has never really been a hassle for us. We think of it as the trip before the trip. Flying out of Seattle means good things to us, such as eating at the Cheesecake Factory and shopping at Southcenter Mall, and the biggest of all -- saving $1000+ on airfare. We always fly out of SEATAC, whether it'd be going to Florida, California, or Hawaii. The cost of staying overnight in Seattle and parking our car would be about $150-$180 -- small compared to how much we save, and the savings are TOO HUGE to ignore.
For example, in March, when we flew from SEATAC to Long Beach: $596 total for all 4 of us return flights. When I priced it out to fly on WestJet or AC from YVR to LAX, it would've been $2100 total.
BTW, you have some really nice ADRS with some really enviable dinner times. I wanna know your secret for getting an Ohana dinner seating at 6:15pm! Way to go! Our seating is at 8:55pm!!! :scared1: How do I fend off the hungry children???
Oh one more thing...which I think is just as exciting as visiting WDW is visiting the brand new Super Target that is close to WDW.

Thanks for the info c&m. The places we usually travel to are also Florida, Calif. and Hawaii. I’m sure if we tried it out once we probably would never go back to flying out of YVR … next year we’ll give it a shot. As for the ADRs and times –yes, I was even surprised at what I was able to get. My secret is my fantastic TA at Small World Vacations! I gave her my wish list with no back-ups, told her that my ideal time for dinner is 6:00ish and to try to work around that. The only thing she couldn’t get was Mama Melrose for Fantasmic but that’s okay. The earlier dinner at Liberty Tree is because that’s the night we want to try and catch Spectro and Wishes. Yikes, 8:55 pm seating is late and best of luck with the hungry kids that night!

Demi 8, You are going for a really long trip!:thumbsup2 I'm jealous. That's probably how your TA was able to get Ohana for you. At the 90 day mark, most people have shorter trips and wouldn't have been able to book 9-10 days past their arrival.
As far as Seattle flights go, for Orlando it just seems to make sense. So much cheaper and you can get a nonstop, whereas from YVR you'd have to change somewhere. I will admit though, if It wasn't so much cheaper I'd use YVR as I always get stressed that something will happen on the drive. I do remember that great Westjet Sale a while back. Good for you that you were able to take advantage of it:)

We are booked for Sept but I fell akin to this posting.
We are flying Seatac as we are saving huge of flying off the Island ($199 return) for five of us.
The parking lots made me nervous so we booked Park, Fly and then Stay on return at the Marriott https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/seasr-springhill-suites-seattle-south-renton/
For 125 we booked a suite, unlimited parking, shuttle and breakfast. Pretty happy with that and well darn we'll have to visit the Supermall on the way home!
We are huge Halloween buffs and put on a haunted display each year for charity so we are so stoked to do MNSSHP just purely for our own enjoyment. Costumes are sewn and waiting. MNSSHP after a day at Blizzard beach. I suspect we will sleep soundlessly that night.
Some of our ADRS are:
Crystal Palace
Tutto Italia
Park Fare
Sci Fi
Biergarten
and the Aloha Show
My countdown timer says 64 more days but somehow I found the time (at work) to count that I have amere 39 more working days to make it through. :dance3:
Hope all my BC counterparts have fabulous adventures and if you are down there Sept 20-28 may our paths cross:goodvibes

I forgot about the 90+10 ADR booking. Being a newbie to the whole Free Dining thing, I just never caught on to the benefit of staying more than 8 days, and booked us only a 7-night trip. Next time, I'll know better.

I'm jealous of all you BC'ers going to Florida! I still trying to convince my DH that it's not too far for the kids to fly and that I'll survive the heat.
Those of you who have traveled to Hawaii, how old were you're kids when you went and is it a good place for families to visit? I've been thinking about trying Hawaii as a break from Disney.
Have a good trip all of you!

The August heat in Florida will be a true test of endurance. Hawaii is extremely kid friendly.
We took our DDs to Kauai when they were 7 and 10, and then to Maui when they were 8 and 11. I have friends who have taken their kids at 4 and 5, and they all enjoyed it just the same. In fact, their kids enjoyed it so much, they teared up when they realized they had to hop on a plane to go home. I also noticed that my DDs were smiling and gloriously happy in every picture. Kauai is much quieter than Maui, and your choice of islands depend on what you feel like.
Everything outdoors is like one big playground. Sand to build sandcastles, water to body surf in and snorkel in, resort pool where the kids can play for hours, and some great destinations to hike and take in the scenery. We have friends who prefer staying in a condo with kitchen facilities, and that works well for them. It depends on what you prefer -- condo or resort. We've done both, and my DH prefers resorts...so that's what we do.
Hope you get to try out Hawaii with your kids. Truly an amazing place.

We have always flewn Alaska but this time We are flying Air Tran with stopover in Atlanta. I watched Fare Compare and kept going directly to the airlines own web pages. I jumped when they had a web special. Bags are $15 but that doesn't deter.
While I am old enough to remember Polynesion theme restraunts in Canada they are long gone. It will be the closest we get to a tropical vacation for the next while so bring on the fire jugglers and hula skirts:cool1:

We are also from the Island and flying out of Seattle... didn't get as great of rate as you did we are paying $300 cnd but still way cheaper than flying from YVR...
I have a park and fly booked for the Redroof Inn for 137+tax, seems like they have re done all their rooms etc but I like your room rate better... Did you book online?

So a question for everyone that flies out of Seattle..... does anyone know if there is a restaurant/take out place close to the Hilton at SEA? We won't have a car and we are flying IN to SEA from BUF for our cruise in a few weeks - we land at 6:30pm after a 12 hr travelling day and I'm positive we will all be starving. Just trying to figure out if we are better to grab food at the airport before we head to the hotel via the shuttle or if there is somewhere to get something after we get to the hotel. The hotel has a restaurant listed on it's website but it's a steak house with ridiculous expensive prices - we won't want a huge meal as it will be 9:30pm on our body clocks when we land but will need to eat!!

Hey, I think going to Southcenter mall is almost as fun as going to WDW. I also LOVE those premium outlets and the Trader Joe grocery stores. In fact, I have a shopping list already.
I've never tried Bahama Breeze before (because we can't stop going to Cheesecake Factory). I'm going to have to check out their menu online, if they have one. Thanks for clueing me in to this restaurant!

There's a place on Southcenter Parkway called Bai Tong that serves really good Thai food. You may want to google that to get the exact address. I heard it's very good. There's also a Denny's on International Blvd. Does the Hilton have a shuttle to Southcenter Mall? You may want to check that, because Southcenter has more restaurant options for you.
