So, like many of you other compulsive planners I'm trying to get my ADRs for our trip in December in order so I can work on making a plan B.

We plan to use the DxDDP and in order to do as many signature dinners as possible, I'm planning to split a few meals with my DM.

My thought was that the regular TS restaurants always look like they have bigger portions than they do at the signature places like CA Grill, Jiko, etc. where the steak or fish might be a smaller portion. I also felt like if we are going to dine at signature restaurants, everyone getting their own meal would allow us to each try a few different things off of the menu.

So---do you think regular TS restaurants are better to split at, or should we split at the signature, or doesn't it really matter?

I think's it matters which restaurants you eat at. For example you could easily split a meal at Yak & Yeit because the portions are so large. However I don't think Le Cellier is one where you can split a meal. The portions aren't as big. So you need to decide where you are going to eat and then determine from those which ones you can share. As far as restaurants with large enough portions to share... Yak & Yeti, Rose & Crown and Tutto Italia all come to mind.

I think it depends on what signatures. CG and Citricos have smaller portions and I would probably not want to split meals at those two but I have found all of the others to have decent portions. An appetizer, an entree and a dessert is too much food for me.

I could maybe eat all of it at FF, Brown Derby and Narcoosees but I'd be miserable. And I definitely cannot eat an appetizer, entree and dessert at Yachtsman, Jiko or Artist Point as all of these places have generous sized entrees.

Thanks! Yak & Yeti and Tutto were actually two of the places I was planning to split, so that will work out well :thumbsup2

Gotcha. I am planning to go to HBD, Jiko, Flying Fish, Narcoosee's and California Grill. I agree that an app, entree and dessert is too much food---but part of our plan is to probably bring home the dessert or part of the entree that we don't finish and eat it for a quick breakfast the next morning or late night snack if we are having an early night (like after leaving AK).

Thanks for the input so far everyone!

Splitting meals while on the DP is up to the discretion of the restaurant. I would not plan my meals assuming we'll be able to share TS meals.

On the Deluxe plan you get 3 meal credits per night per person and 2 snacks per night per person. I don't think I've read one post where sharing was needed or that people on the plan needed more food. Even if you did a Signature daily most seem to have found the second meal and two snacks to be plenty.

Good luck and have fun.

I agree with this assessment. Although at this time it is generally allowed, Disney or any individual restaurant could change that at any time.

Thank you both for the heads up. I had read online lots of accounts of people splitting, but knew it was up to the restaurant. There are certain restaurants I definitely want ADRs for and I'll be trying to make those---if they allow us to split, it will work out that we use all of our credits, if it turns out they don't, I don't have a problem paying to split a meal or two with DM out of pocket. :thumbsup2

I definitely don't anticipate not having enough food on the DDP, it's a matter of credits I guess. We have 15 total meal credits each for our trip and we'd like to try 5 TS meals, which will eat up 10 of them so I just wanted to check on splitting.

Thanks again!

We have just returned from our 8 nights with 7 nights worth of Deluxe DDP. We each have 21 TS credits to use for 8 nights. Each day we have a TS lunch(1TS) and we ate at 5 signatures(2TS) and 3 (1TS) dinners. There were plenty of food to us.

On the Deluxe plan that second meal can also be TS if you want. So you could book something like Chef Mickey's buffet for breakfast, Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner and use the snacks for something midday to tied you over if needed: or just wanted :goodvibes You could also book say Cinerella's Royal Table for Breakfast and LeCellier for lunch.

You've selecte an amazing plan that offers lots of flexibility I really wouldn't waste the mental energy on splitting. That's almost like paying attention to the bill, something you really don't need to do on the plan; it's one of the perks I love about any DP at WDW: pre paid or included.
