Hi All,

I dont know if this is UK wide but is definately occurring in Kent. Women shoppers are being approached in supermarket carparks by persons with perfume testers and then asked to smell them, but they are not perfumes, when inhaled they cause the victim to fall unconscious and they are then robbed

I get the feeling this an 'urban myth' as car parks are busy places during the day. Certainly have heard nothing happening round here and we are very close to Kent.

I love the snopes site. There is another urban myth along similar lines that says a female shopper has her Achilles tendon cut by a robber hiding beneath her car. As she falls to the floor, the robber rolls from under the car and makes off with her handbag and shopping. If the perfume scam had really happened, it would have made the news.

Yeah definitely thought it was an urban myth! Got a text from my boyfriend's mum the other night about it apparently happening at a shopping centre in Glasgow.

I think it was petrol stations when I heard it a couple of years back.
