Hi there! I'd like to say to Thank You in advance for signing up for my swap. Ths is going to be so interesting & fun & hope everyone enjoys making them, & not having too mch of a headache,:rotfl2: I tried not make too many rules, but I just want to make sure everyone gets the best ATC's they can possibly get. If you have any questions, please ask. If there is till a group that you would like to see here, & is not. Please let me know. I will try to accomodate you.
This is a large swap. I believe I have given plenty of time to get them done. So please, please, stick to it & you will reap the rewards in the end.:yay: Thanks again everyone!

How to Make and Share Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)

ATCs Are Born to Be Shared Not Sold

An ATC is the same size as a standard trading card for baseball, football, & other sports & character themes. ATCs, like their commercial counterparts, fit easily into the plastic sleeves made for collecting cards.

ATCs & Mail Art

An ATC is just that, a trading card…An ATC is not meant to be sold or auctioned. It is meant to be given away or traded. A great & fun way to get into art & inexpensive compared to regular crafting. You can use other Mediums on the paper you use. It’s a great way to show your vision & creativity to others. Anything does as long the art is original & yours.

The only rule when making an ATC is that is MUST measure 2.5 x 3.5 (pr 3.5 x 2.5 for vertical renderings). It is best to use cardstock, watercolor, or acrylic paper as the base of your card. It is possible to use this cardboard or paperboard.

You can apply ink, STAMPING, cut up a card, oil paint, acrylics, watercolor, charcoal, pastels, pencil, or really anything that marks an image. The images can be in color, black & white, or layered colors. Attachments are good as long as the main card itself remains relatively flat.

It is important to put the following on the back of each ATC you make:
Your name
Your username on the website you are trading with
Your email address
The title of the work if it as one
The medium & the date
If you have created a series, any number of ATCs in the same theme need to be numbered with the original number etc. 1/5 2/5.
The reason for putting this info on the back is: you may want to contact the artist & see what exactly they used for that card.
Or maybe you like it so much you’d like them to make more for you in the future. You can purchase an ATC stamp for the info on the back of your cards or use a lined stamp or design to make it look nice on the back.

There are some people out there that will throw a couple of commercially produced stickers on a card & call it art. For the person who spent an hour creating an original image receiving a card of stickers is very disappointing.
Please use good judgment on the ATCs you are making. Be creative as possible. If this is something you can see your self getting into, you can purchase an ATC carousel from 7 Gypsies. Also, you can store them in little baseball card holders in a binder, if there aren't embellies hanging off of them. That way you can put the carousel on your desk & enjoy them. It will start to look like a “FAT” book. It’s so much to skim through them.
Also when you go to a crafting convention, some people wear a button that says “ I trade ATCs” & they come flocking. You want to make several of each one & keep them in a binder when you are trading. Make sure you keep an original for yourself.

These tips are from Pam Gaulin & were found on the internet.

Just to add, there will not be any maunfactured made stickers allowed at ALL in this swap please. You can make your own sticker, but nothing made from the stores. If you are using a thin piece of cardstock, it must be matted, so it will last years to come. Must be embellished at least 2 or 3 times please. Inking & distressing is absolutley welcome, but not considered an embellishment, it's a technique. It's not fare for people who put a lot of work & emphemera on them. So please add another embellie to your distressing. Thank you...

Good morning ya'll! Thanks in advance for signing up for my swap. It's going to be a lot of fun.

I have a friend that wants to sign up for 2 groups. The crazy thing is she doesn't have a computer, crazy I know, :rotfl2: I wanted to ask if you guys wouldn't mind if she signed up for them through me? I will be responsible for her check ins.

Then my one girlfriend Sharon just signed up & wants a couple of groups as well. She's working this morning at the stamp shop so I said I would also sign her up. That's if you all don't mind. Thanks again erveryone...

I got some books from the school library that can't be circulated anymore because they are falling apart and I want to use the pages as a medium.

That sounds like so much fun. Kristy & I only get together for Disney & that's it. We don't get play time for anything else..

I love that kinds stuff. I have a lot of that too. For those tyoes of paper, I would put a Matte Medium on top of it to make sure it doesn't go anywhere.
It's like a white gel that dries clear. It's awesome. You can find it at Joann's..

Sure. I can do a group for Disney Attractions. I'll add it & see if we get any bites. The next swap I want to do the ABC's & the whole USA. It would be huge, but rewarding at the end. Those two groups would be the whole swap. But I think I will seperate the USA by regions. If you want every state then you have to sign up for all the groups.
I'll talk to BAMB for when we can do that next.
I like watercolor. I think it's such a pretty way to do ART.

Can we do an ABC's of Disney!!!!
And if you did the alphabet I would love to do it groups of 6's
A bigger group for something like that would be better I think but you never have to listen to me.:rolleyes1

Oh and the attractions group I want "it's a small world"!!!!!!

Sept - November
or
Oct - Dec will work for those. We probably need extra time for those, don't you think?

D_R what do you mean by groups of 6? The only logical way (in my crazy distorted brain) is to do it in groups of 13, 2 letters each, yes? I'd much rather do that then have multiple smaller groups.

water color would be cool for Africa!

Michi, can I still stamp and color over the Matte Medium?

Well, I'm going to keep the swap open for a couple of days.

I'm going to put attractions on then. How about we do the ABC swap & States swap in September? Then I can give everyone three months to get it done?
I would also like to do a regular ABC swap as well as the Disney one.

Lets ask everyone which one they would like to do 1st.
So ok, guys. Would you rather a regular ABC ATC swap, or a Disney ABC swap?
Hopefully my other groups will fill up with in a couple of days. If not, I will take a couple out & then change the numbers of the groups.

Michi, Just wondering if you might want to change the "monoument group" to title it "Famous Landmarks" (ie: examples: Eifel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Arc de Triumph, Empire State Building, Big Ben, etc, etc)? That's originally what DR recommended. I didn't remember exactly the title she recommended until I went back to look at the last swap. That probably describes the group better! ;)

I suppose I'd better do Big Ben then:rolleyes1 (though that is actuallly the name of the bell which strikes the hour, not the tower itself) Its the 150th birthday today! :cake:

Mazda, title it what you want for the tower or anything else! I was just trying to come up with a London example, but it's early here and my brain is focused on some other things...LOL!! Choose what you want....those were just examples!! There are many in England as well as all over the world.

I was thinking of changing a couple of groups since they didn't fill. Like the Sports & School. Any suggestions? I can cheange them to Anything Boy & Anything Girl?

One of the ideas, which sounded cool, that DR suggested last round was choose a decade (1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, etc).

Another thing I'd like to do is "Great Roadtrips". If so, I would love to do one with Route 66.

Do you want to change the Sentiments group to "Sentiments & Quotes" (embellished to the theme of the sentiment, of course)

I like the Decade group, & Roadtrips.
I already changed the otherone to Sentiments/Verbage, I can ad Quote's too it as well.
Ok, I will change the others then. Sorry about not remembering. I tend to forget stuff, :rotfl2:.
I will do RV's travels for me then.

The Roadtrip idea came from watching "Today" show this morning and they were advertising their upcoming series of "Great American Roadtrips" which I was going to suggest, but didn't want to leave Mazda out ;) There are just some places and experiences that you can't have if you fly.....like funky stops at strange places along the roadways, kitchy places, diners, etc. It's more like places to stop or routes, not all types of vehicle related. Could also include Natinal Parks (which I would actually like to do at some point for a group). I would like to do Route 66 for this one!

Sentiments / Verbage is fine. I didn't know if that idea I had was clear enough.

If we do the decades one, I would like to sign up for 1960's (or 1940's if someone else really wants the 60's)

We just got back from our two week vacation on a Beast of an RV. We had a blast & we went to so many places. One place is Rock City. Ughhh, I loved it! PLus, I bought some road trip paper & other things so I have great ideas for that. It will end up being more cutesey though.

I'll book you for the 60's then, unless someone says other wise that they would like to trade with you.
Anyone want to take more groups. I think I'm in like 14 of these. EEEsssshhhh! I better start working on them this weekend..

Later today, I will list my themes for the ones, I haven't listed. I don't want to give them to you until I'm 100% sure so I don't confuse things.

I'm off to the Univ. of Wisconsin Vet Clinic in an hour with my dog for most of the day.

I'm off to the Univ. of Wisconsin Vet Clinic in an hour with my dog for most of the day.

We went to Rock City at Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga Tn. It was fantastic. We muct have spent at least 4hours there if not more. If I lived there, I would have a seaon pass & go weekley & have my lunch there. It's just breathtaking.

No worries on your groups girl. We all know you do amazing work. I have to think of things for some of my groups as well.

For Groups 4 & 10 & 11, do you all mind making 6? If so no worries. I can cancel at least 10A for my Hotair Balloon. That will one less group for me to worry about. I know Mazda wanted to get in on 4 & 11....

I'm going to get ready now to out with the kids for most of the day. Go ahead & post whatever else you guys want & I will update it when I get back. Thanks!

You guys are too much....:rotfl2: I know, I'm in 14 groups, what the heck was I think? You know what though? I have all my ATC's right here next to me by the computer on my carousel. I'm loving every minute of it. I look at them & appreciate them so much. They make me smile & I'm so happy to have them where I can enjoy them.
So after that cheesy statement, that's why you did so many. Because it'll be rewarding in the end.
We had an ACM for like 9 months here & then they took it away. There was a lot of construction in that area & they didn't give it a chance. I loved that store. The nearest one is in Ft. Myers about 35-45minutes away. Your very lucky.
YodasMom, I'll wait till tomorrow & see if we get any other players. I know Tinkerbean wanted to play for sure in this round, but I don't know if she has been on the board or not latley. Anybody know? Let's see if she decides to play or not, & then by tomorrow late afternoon, hopefully I will be able to close this swap for good.

The states I will break up into regions. That way if doing 50 is way too many for everyone, they can sign up for what ever. ORRRRRR, should I just do one group of 50 & if people want to do it, they can. It's a HUGE commitment. BUT, I think it would be SUPER impressive in the end..Just a thought.

tinkerbean is having health issues and needed to step away from the boards for a bit. Sadly, she had to angel out her other swaps. Hopefully she will be back soon!

Cheese away! I like looking at everyone else's stuff too, I just put my ATC's in a binder yesterday. I need a nicer binder though til I can get my carousel under control and out of DD's reach.

Nope, not lucky in the craft store dept, Mike's and ACM are about 30 minutes away and the big Joann's is 45 minutes. Heck the closest gas station that is actually in my town is 10 minutes away, the other is 10 minutes and 2 towns away. The grocery is 20 minutes too. We just deal with having to drive a fair distance out here in the boondocks. LOL

Not sure about the states, if we did one big group of states and one big group of ABC's then if you signed up for 2 spots in each group you would make 38 cards (13 for ABC and 25 for States). I mean it would be tough but once you got into a rhythm it would be ok right? Heck, you're in 14 groups so you're doing 70 cards anyway. But if we do regions someone might miss out and not have a complete set either which would bug a person like me because I need all or nothing! LOL

It's your call. I could do it if my schedule was clear of other swaps, which is should be.
you would have to have angels that were fast though if someone got into a jam.

P.S. I call dibs on CT since I live here!!! LOL

As far as D_R, let me see if I can't get a hold of her to see how she is doing. I hope she is alright. I believe she lost her job so that's why she hasn't been on. Not sure if she has a puter at home.

As far as Tinkerbean goes, she was really excited to join this next swap, but I hear she's not feeling well these days. My heart goes out to her & I hope she gets better!:flower3:

:tink:Michi,
Just getting the hang of this. I thought I was doing 3 sets of atc's. #7 and #7A along with #9. (make 5 bird, 5 different bird and 5 suprise!) Let me know.
And for those who don't know Michi very well, she's as nice as she is cute! I recently went to a scrap night with her. We laughed our butts off. Now there are gals requesting to sit at the same table with us. She is lot's of fun.

Hey Sharon, I fixed your groups up top. Sometimes it's east to miss things on here. I'm so glad you are playing with. I only wish the girls could meet you in person because your so fun.
As far as the scrap night went the other day, we are always the craziet one's of them all. Making the girls laught their tales off. Wish we could do it all in person.
Sharon, there's a lot of talent in this group. You'l be happy with everything in the end!

Hi, checking in and groups are good. I have ideas but I just want to finish DCL swap first.
Do they trade cards at CK conventions, and if so would it be practicle to make a few extras up?
I really have no clue how any of this works:confused3

Sure, I would make some just in case. But unless you have some kind obutton that say's "I trade ATC's" I don't know if you'll have any luck trading. CK is more scrapbooking so I don't know if you'll find anyone to swap with.

Michi, You have my groups listed at the top as: 3,5A, 6,10,11,14,15,17

They are actually: 3, 5A, 6, 7A, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17

Someone, please throw a net over my head!

Is the decades group still a go since it's small, or do we want to wait to do it when there can be more in it?

Rita~

I saw people at our covention last year that were wearing 'I trade ATCs' buttons. I made extras the first time and will again this time. I plan on taking my ATCs with me and working on them at the convention at the end of the month and hopefully I'll trade a few too!

OK, back to the ATC swap for a minute.......

I was at Archivers this afternoon blowing one of my internet coupons and they have the clear plastic sleeves for the ATC turntable thingy. The ones they carry have a border on the edge for the slits that fit into the turntable and that border is closed off from the sleeve part so you can attach them onto the turntable without any slits being put in the cards. I bought all they had, which was only 3 packs, at my closest store, but I will get more next week elsewhere. I haven't bought the turntable yet, but will go back with another coupon another time.

Then back to the England theme..... AR, your cruise really sounds interesting! I'd love to do that sometime. Buffy, that little Cooper is just darling!! My two Corgi's would love to drive it to meet the Queen! I know that thread is opened up in the living room, so I won't say anymore here!

Ok yall, just in case you didn't read the Disney_Rider thread I put out, I am taking over her Inchies & Moos swap. Her Mother just had a stroke & she is taking care of her. My heart goes out to her & her family!
They are going to be together with the ATC's now. It will also be better to mail for those of you that are in both swaps.

Arizona Rita & Dutchess Trish, please look at your new groups now since I have added to extras. If there are any you don't want, I can always take you off. Thanks for volunteering for extra groups.

I'm cancelling the Moos since there isn't much action going on there. I hope that is ok for everyone. We can always do it another time. Also check the due date. O have changed longer to September 21st now. That gives a little extra time for everyone.

M_M, I cancelled your Fantasy group since you were the only one in it, unless anyone else wants it too. I'm going to leave the swap open for a couple more days to see if anyone wants anymore groups since a couple of them you only have to make 3. That also goes for the ATC's as well. Please pm me your info since I misplaced my crafting book that I keep all my info in.

Thanks to all for understanding & cooperating. Since I'm new to hostessing, let me know if I make any mistakes. This will be my 2nd time hosting, as it's challenging like the 1st one was, :rotfl2: Thanks again!!!

And, to confirm the Due date for both the ATC and Inchie swap is September 21, 2009, correct?

Ok so yes, DR's groups need to be angeled as well. So if anyone could help out with hers that would be great. If not, we will make 6 to a group or combine groups.
The due date is now Monday September 21st to give everyone a little bit of extra time. Thanks Karen!!
Unfortunaley, I can't take anymore groups since I'm in like 12 or 13 of them, plus the inchies. I'll take any help I can get. Thanks!

Michi, you've got me listed in only 4 groups, but I'm actually in 7. My groups should list as: A, C, D, F, H, L, L1 :goodvibes

As for my progress, I haven't done anything yet. I'm going to put supplies for this together and take these on vacation with me since they are small and should be easy to do away from home.

If anyone else is interested in the Decades Group, I can give you a link for some collage sheets that might give you ideas for 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's. They have to be purchased if you want to order them for download, but not expensive, though.

There are lots of websites where you can download collage sheets with Inchie designs (for a small price). I'd probably start with something like that and then embelish on top of that.

I've done half my groups, but I might not get them all done and packed before we go on vacation :headache: There's plenty of time with the date pushing back, but I'd like to get them done and off so i can do the everyday when I get home:)

Having taken the vintage I'm not sure what to do :headache:- I found a realy cute repro "joke catalogue" with the price in "old money" (shillings), so I might do something from that - what do you think? Maybe colour bits of the ads and put them against a "wallpaper" sort of paper with some "stuff" (don't know what yet), or some repro bubble gum cards which are fun - are they old enough (1960s)?

I don't want to print anything as I'm nearly out of ink and DH always moans about the price :guilty: (I could BUY a printer for less than the cartridges:mad:)

And, yes, the price of ink is ridiculous!! When I get time, I want to research finding a wireless capable printer with more reasonably priced ink cartridges.

Hey Buffy,
How are you handling taking these to WDW to assemble?

I was thinking of signing up for a long crop in a couple of weeks to try to get some done. The problem is, I get an idea, but that often changes while I'm putting them together, and I'm afraid I wouldn't have all the stuff available while being held captive at a crop. I'm normally back crounging all my stuff, etc once I start working on these!! Not sure if it would work for me, but would sure like to do them with minimal mess to my house vs. the last time....LOL..... and maybe a little quicker! I can spend hours on just one!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that:rotfl2:Even with things like the colour swap (where its harder to change your mind once everything is cut) I'll change embellishments etc. But for this, I often have everything set out then have an "a-ha!" moment (no, I don't start singing:lmao:) and find something else to use. Or I have huge bundles of stuff and thing "That's not all ging to fit on one tiny card":rolleyes1

I've got some great paper which looks like 60s wallpaper so I might partner that with bits from the joke catalogie - the language is hilarious "amuse the men and confuse the ladies"

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated (or photos, links, etc)

If I were doing Inchies, which I'm not, because I'm more into the ATC's, I would either use some of the Clear Stamps that are made for Inchies (or part of a larger stamp)or download some of the online Collage Sheets that are designed for Inchies. They're both really artsie. I know Archivers has the Clear Stamps for Inchies, so I would assume any store that sellls a lot of stamps would. If you need links for some of the collage sheets, I can PM them to you. They just cost a few bucks to order and download and are sold by many artists. Then you can add a 3D embellishment on top, etc.

Oh, yeah, I do all of this!!! So, if I were stuck at a crop and needed something else from my stash I couldn't finish the cards, or I'd have to drive 30 min. back home to pick up! But, I could probably do that and still have enough crop time (as long as it's just one trip home), plus let the dogs out....LOL!!

Here are my very first inchies. These are my owls for the animals group. The edges of the orange paper is inked in a color to match to the circle behind the owl. The circle is inked as well and so is the thin brown strip. The owls are puffy little stickers.

I hope these are okay.

Thank you both so much!

AR, as far as Inchies and ATC's go, I just do the ATC's since they are more detailed and pieces of art in themselves. The Inchies, I would probably just do as I need to as an enhancement to a scrapbooking page while I'm actually scrapping to make sure it goes with what I'm doing. When doing inchies, I would probably make them after most of the page is put together rather than beforehand in a swap. Just a personal choice.

I have little progress, I did get my flutterbys printed and cut last night, but that's about it.
I need to order a stamp from Stampin up this week for the robins.

I need to focus on other stuff, and then this. Just get me through WDW first.

YM feel better soon, don't strain your eyes to much. We can wait for your stuff til you feel better!

Have a great trip Tina!

Thanks, Buffy and Michi! I feel OK, it just that my eyesight in the one eye isn't good right now.

Michi, I can angel that spot in the Transportation Group 13 that DR was signed up to do motorcycles, if I can do a ship (cruise ship). Let me know...I do have the stuff. Otherwise, you would just have two in that group.
