Hello, I am sorry if it may sound like a not so intelligent question, but I was just wondering what happens if it starts to rain just before a scheduled dolphin swim ? :confused3
I have seen the weather forecast and it seems that everyday it rains ! I have a dolphin swim on the 21st of July.
Thanks for any information !! ;)

Rain won't stop anything. Your are all in swimming gear and vests/ wetsuits anyway. If there is a thunderstorm within a certain number of miles, they close all water areas and either push the dolphin swim back to later in the day or if it does not let up, reschedule it for a different day.

We were there on Thursday and it rained right up until our 11:15 swim. There was a sprinkle or two during the swim and the rest of the day it was overcast. A bright, sunny day would have been better but the weather did not ruin the experience for us (or anyone else for that matter from what we could see.)

We were there in Sept. 07 (Sunday)and they did close the water areas about 3:30-4:00 due to approaching thunderstorms (it was actually pretty funny seeing everyone running around worrying about getting wet-while in their bathing suits. )
Anyway, as we were waiting around to get our free photo (here's tip, get your early, don't wait until end of the day) I overheard an employee and a guest. The guest asked if it was true that they were going to reopen soon and stay open later. He said that's what he heard too! Wooo Hooo! I told me family and we went back to get new gear (we had turned ours in). The very nice employee went and got us some new gear in the back and we basically had the park to ourselves. The coral reef was awesome-no one else was in there. :cloud9: The way we heard it was that they needed to make sure that all the Dolphin Encounters were done or they would have to reshedule (for free) another day. We were able to stay in DC til about 6.
Loved DC and would love to go back this year. Next time on a (Sept.) weekday I hear there's even less people (400-500)

If it rains during a dolphin swim I think they reschedule it.
