Thoughts and prayers for husband please. Sad update on post #12

My husband will be going to surgery tomorrow for the removal of his left kidney and right adrenal gland due to cancer.

If everything goes okay, in three weeks he will start the chemo pill.

Please send all the good thoughts that you can and bless you all.

Thanks everyone for your prayers.

Hubby made it through surgery and is in CCU tonight. They did have to give him two units of blood but otherwise everything seems to be okay.

7/8/09-Hubby told me this morning that he felt better today than he has in two months. That's pretty good considering they cut him the whole line of the bottom of the rib cage. They are giving him two more units of blood today (little vampire) and they are still working with his kidney to produce more but all in all the doctor says he is doing well.

7/9/09-DH doing great. They wanted him to walk around his bed and he walked all the way across the floor to the double doors. He might be going to a regular room and they are talking about starting his cancer treatment now. His surgeon had said 3 weeks after surgery. This is fine with us since we have known about the cancer for two months.

7/15/09-DH came home today!! It has been a hard time getting him stable. The surgery went well but his calcium (from the cancer in the bone) kept going up and they have been doing dialysis, so he was in two days longer than he planned (believe me he was about to go crazy). He will still have to go and do dialysis (hopefully short term) and in two weeks he will start chemo.

I lost my left kidney to cancer on june 10th. It was found in a cat scan looking for stones. the stones saved me. the tumor was about to spread. the tumor was avery slow growing Chromophobic cancer that was probably there between 5 & 15 years. 16 nodes tested clean & bone scan also clear. i am now enrolled in the ASSURE clinical trial with Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Ask your doctor about it. I know what you are going thru & wish you all the best. It has been a very scary spring & summer. I am back to work & doing very well. The doctors think they got it all (8cm dia) the surgery was laproscopic with only a 2" vertcal incision next to my navel. My thoughts are with your family. I hope your luck improves.

Space Mountain is in my sights for our trip in december.

I just wanted to let you know that my dh passed away Monday morning. He lived life to the fullest and though he fought all the way he also said that God had a plan for him.

I believe between the dialysis and the chemo his heart just couldn't handle it all and he went peacefully away.

I want to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers.

I am so sorry. I guess he knew the plans God had for him, to end his suffering and pain and bring him home instead. It sounds like he did everything to prolong his life and fought a good fight. My condolences are with you now as you go through this sad time.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my husband last year to pancreatic cancer. He, too, believed that God had a plan for him. I think it gave him great comfort.
