Janet and I are not going to make it to WDW this year (went in July and December last year) however, we are going to DL in May and are meeting up one day of three with Tom (Imtooexcitedtosleep) and we also have a back to back book on the magic in October/November 2010. I think that will need to hold me over for awhile. Good luck to all that will return this year. Lois

Amazing isn't it! I'm just days away from ADR's for my Thanksgiving visit. I've given up on ADR's for my August visit. Nothing is available. It's ok though, really... I can live on Dole Whip!:lmao: and whatever I find at the Main Street Bakery:rotfl: that's 3 visits in 2010 for me! Hopefully 2011 will find me :sail:

You know, I was thinking about that over the weekend. It's hard to believe that some people I consider to be good friends, I've never met, with the exception of Janet and Lois! Walt would be proud of us!

Julie and I have been hanging out occasionally on the August 10 board, but people hardly post there! Its totally not the same. I have high expectations now. Isn't it so strange?! We really were the best official month thread ever! Wendy and I (and a few others from this thread!) are doing a pretty good job of getting the July 2010 thread going. She's doing the list of who's going, I'm doing the list of ADRs and there are a lot of people contributing...but I don't know...it's just not the same....

No Disney trip for us this year :sad2: just too many things going on around here that need our attention. But....we have now decided to head back July 2011!!! :banana: DS is now entering his high school years and high school football takes up any and all spare time. The only weeks we have to vacation for the next four years will be the last week of June, first week of July. So I decided that July 4th is the perfect time to visit the mouse....Nikki you have to let me know how it is when you and Tom go this year, I want all the details. ;) I'll keep my fingers crossed that one of you may join me in planning for July 2011!

Have a great trip! We had to move our trip up a little early - but I think we arrive the day you leave. We are now there from June 27-July 10. Are you flying or driving this year? We are driving, so we actually leave June 26 - single digits - 9 days!

The "plan" is to leave very early on Saturday and see if we can make it to southern Georgia, so that we only have about a 4 hour trip to Disney - in which case we should arrive around 1pm. I will send a pm with my cell phone if you want to to text me before you leave and I can let you know where we are....

Sounds like a plan. We will probably already be on the road, we're doing the whole trip back in one day, so we'll leave fairly early. BUT, you never know!

Is Imovie something I could use on a PC? I don't have a mac. I bought a program that I thought I could do a movie with, but I never had time to install, and last time I saw the box, it was in DS18's room. :rotfl:

You know, that we can copy and paste the photo of Jenny and Vinnie's baby from Facebook to this post. I'll see if I can grab it.

How exciting for both of you!! IF we go to WDW next summer, I am hoping to go around the same time. We really liked vacationing early in the summer and still having several weeks after we got back before band camp started. Next summer, both kids will have band camp - so the summer will end early for both of them. We are consider doing a different vacation next summer though :scared1:, so we will see.

I have no room to complain because I did 1 week at WDW in July and 1 week at WDW in December and then 3 days at DL in May and I am not done yet we are doing 14 days on the Magic this October. I think it is time to work on the house and wait till at least 2012 maybe 2013. If it is 2013 I want it to be 3 full weeks with time at WDW and a Back to Back on one of the new ships!!!!

Did you read my TR? I felt like I was in the twilight zone (not the TOT kind!) on the 4th! It was so eerily empty in Epcot that day...soooo not what I prepared for! So I don't think I can help you in that department!! We had some freak rain that must've scared the crowds away!

As far as patriotism.....decorate your window, wear red, white and blue, bring flags and wave them around like crazy!!

I also highly recommend doing the fireworks cruise for the MK on the 3rd (maybe share with Emma?) so you can see their special show and do the Epcot fireworks on the 4th. Get a spot early!! Read my TR to see where we ended up.

It's so exciting that you all have scheduled trips around the same time! I don't know what we're doing next year yet.

We switched our trip this year from August to November. So I have just under 90 days for our next trip!

Just yesterday my DH asked me when we should go and where we should stay next year! haha Usually it's ME who starts with the planning. We were throwing around "Jersey week" for next year which is usually the first week in Nov. Our schools usually have off for President's Day and teacher's convention. But who knows...maybe we'll do another summer trip!

You are very welcomed. I still love this thread and all of her posters. My grandson is living with us now so it maybe serveral years before I get back to the east or west coast for that matter. I think I might take a solo trip out to WDW in May for D23's Destination D event. I upgraged my DL AP to the Premier AP and it's burning a hole in my pocket. :)

Jeana - we are still working on our plans too - and the end of July/early June is a possibility. We are juggling with Ashley's senior pictures, band camp and some of the volunteer activities that the kids do in the summer with church and girl scouts. I think we are going to do a few days at Universal/Sea World and the rest of the time at Disney. Is anyone on a June or July 11 Board yet? Nothing will ever be the same as this group though!

Hey everyone!!!!! Anyone planning Disney trips for 2011?? My DBIL and DSIL were just over today to book our trip! Going end of Sept for just a long weekend. Food and wine and MNSSHP! They booked free dining, we only booked our flights...waiting for other deals to come out.
Nothing at WDW is "just". (Just a long weekend). That sounds like so much fun!!! I want to get there for that sometime! Hope you are doing okay!!!!

I got in on the July board, but it just didn't have the same feel. We're just magical! It would be awesome if you are there at the same time. We're planning :rolleyes1 a much lower key trip this year since it will be the week of the 4th. Back at BLt. :cloud9: We love our new home, and the kids want more pool time. HELLO - YOUR GRANDPARENTS HAVE A POOL, YOU CAN SWIM AT HOME, but not with the cool slide! But, that was part of the bargain I made w/ Dh when we bought DVC - I get a trip every year, he gets to rest more on those trips. So, mornings in parks, afternoons at BLT, and a few night EMHs are on tap. We absolutely LOVED walking to MK in the mornings, still our favorite park!

We are planning a trip for July 2-9 as I mentioned. Can't wait. We're also headed to Disney's Hilton Head Island resort next Thursday for NYE for a long weekend. I cannot wait! It's a great place, campfires, rec teams that do fun stuff, very LOW COST, and just lots of fun!

Guys, this thread being on my subscribed list totally brightened my day. You guys were there for me every step of the way during the worst/best time of my life. Planning my girls' first trip, and losing Daddy, and I am so blessed to call you friends. Mom was in a reflective mood last night, and for the first time in 15 months wanted to talk about Daddy's time in the hospital and last days. It was a very hard conversation that still has me reeling, but in the midst of reliving all that, I was remembering the support I received from you guys on FB during that time, sitting in the waiting room at the hospital, I remember your support more than that of many of my "IRL" friends. I thank you again, and you will each hold a special place in my heart because of that, and all the fun we had along the way.

The December 2010 thread got pretty good.. I kept together the ADR list & another DISer did resorts & dates.. we made it to part 2.. but it's kinda come to an end now - unlike this one which continues nearly 2 years later! :yay:

My daughter sent me a text that her husband got her the Collector's Edition of Epic Mickey! I bought the regular one for myself a few weeks ago. I didn't know there were other options? I think the 'boxing' name is because it was the traditionally the day the presents were given, in 'boxes' ? :confused3 hehe

I don't have a trip coming up to Disney planned yet. :scared1: We're going on a Royal Caribbean cruise with the whole Walbesser family between Christmas and New Years of 2011.... but its still not Disney.

My sister is on the Disney Dream right now!!! WITHOUT me!! :eek:

Our AP's are good til October and my TIW card is good until November... so we are very much planning on returning SOME time before then. Just don't know when. I think I may bank our DVC leftover points, unless I can figure out how to get at least 5 nights out of them... and if we do that, we'll stay at the Pop. My other home away from home! DD8 :love: Pop. We might end up going near the end of August if DS19 needs to be driven back to college by us. Unless during the summer he finally gets his license and gets a car. I say gets because I have no idea how it would get paid for? Tuition is expensive enough! :sad2:

My DD22 and her husband (whose returned from Iraq) who is now National Guard reserve have moved in with us til he finds a federal job. DS19 and his girlfriend are arriving FROM Florida on Saturday for their Spring Break... so that's what kids who go to college in Florida do for Spring Break.. they come here! :rotfl2: Its gonna be a full house!

I too enjoy seeing posts on this thread. Since my 17 year grandson is now living with us we have needed to put off vacations. But we now have a cruise booked. We will be on the 9/22/12 Eastern on the Fantasy. There already a number of Disers I have vacationed with in the past on board. It should be a very active Cruise meet thread. I have no idea when I will get back to WDW.

We want to retire to Florida in about 8 years, so we need to prepare to sell the house and move. Then we can go all the time. I just don't know if I can hold out that long. Lois

LOL... not exactly! :sad2: When Lily moved out, we moved Max back into his old room and made the big huge room that Max was in, into a playroom for Heidi. So Max and Heidi had the front two bedrooms and the big room over the garage became the playroom. That room has its own bathroom inside. Its about 25x18. So now that Lily and Ron are living here, they have Heidi's room and we moved her furniture into the playroom. Its a big room though. Honestly could have fit 5 twin beds in there if someone wanted to. Lily and Ron were told they could NOT paint the room.. its still Heidi's. We have a mural on the wall that Lily and I painted with the help of my late friend Pam.

Now that Max is at college, I stack laundry baskets and lay out my sweater drying rack in his room! :rotfl2: But I'll have to move that for next week.

I hope Ron finds a job with the Federal government soon so they can get an apartment. HE's looking at TSA and local police department. He's an infantryman, and worked in the armory in Iraq, so his experience is weapons keeping. He can also drive the big trucks and tanks and stuff. Not alot of tanks in the local PD though.

OOooh it was SO close. Max needs to be picked up at Florida Tech to come home for the summer on May 7th...... so I was thinking that we could follow with a stop at Disney...... but... there's always a but... my cousin's son's Bar Mitzvah in CT is the SAME weekend... so my sister and I are taking her son and Heidi and we're driving to CT. Henry is heading to FL to pick up Max.

Yes, it IS like coming home! We are the BEST planning thread ever! That would be SO awesome if we all could do a Grand Gathering some day.

Looks like this year's Disney trip might end up being the 3rd week of August as Aug 22 is when Max has to be returned to college with all his stuff for the fall semester. This fall our public school is starting early... so its a short summer for us. We get out June 16th and restart August 29th, so we'd have to return by the 28th. :sad:

Lois... we want to retire to Florida too!! But we have about 15 years to go.

OOooh it was SO close. Max needs to be picked up at Florida Tech to come home for the summer on May 7th...... so I was thinking that we could follow with a stop at Disney...... but... there's always a but... my cousin's son's Bar Mitzvah in CT is the SAME weekend... so my sister and I are taking her son and Heidi and we're driving to CT. Henry is heading to FL to pick up Max.

We are stuck in July - with band camp the beginning of August we don't have much choice, since this is our year to buy APs we go a little later. Technically, we should be there the end of June or early July next summer....which is better because there are fewer tour groups.

Lois, our plan is to retire there too. We have a minimum of 4 years but more likely 8.....depending on where the kids go to school. DS really likes the look of Full Sail University so that would work well.

AMEN! I've been thinking about you a lot, since we are going July 4th week. Hope it's as UNCROWDED as yours was! Miss you lady!

Our AP's are good til October and my TIW card is good until November... so we are very much planning on returning SOME time before then. Just don't know when. I think I may bank our DVC leftover points, unless I can figure out how to get at least 5 nights out of them... and if we do that, we'll stay at the Pop. My DD22 and her husband (whose returned from Iraq) who is now National Guard reserve have moved in with us til he finds a federal job.

You are welcomed to come join Janet and I on the 9/22/12 Eastern cruise on the Fantasy. It is still a small group but since I have cruised with 6 out ofd the ten before I can tell yoiu it will be a great group of folks.

This thread is like "coming home"!! I do keep up with some of you on Facebook - and I love it. Still, there is nothing like the July '09 Board. I just signed up on the July '11 Board. Got the free dining PIN and booked the BWI for July 12-23. I think Christy is going to be there then too. So far, not much excitement on that board either. We were, and always will be, unique. I think someday we should plan a Grand Gathering!!

It's hard for me, because after the epic July 09 trip where we left the room at 7am everyday and returned at 11pm or later, part of the "draw" for DVC for DH was that I would never do that to him again. Last year was a little better. With the expected crowds, I promised him a laid back trip. Which means less planning. Which scares me. I'm not OCD about this or anything! ;)

Oh I was totally freaking about planning this trip, so I understand!

I think your plans for the 3rd and 4th sound great! I think MK will be mobbed on the 3rd so good idea to watch the fireworks from outside of the park. Epcot was unbelievably empty on the 4th. We were there from opening to close too. Did the Behind the Seeds tour in the morning, which was a nice way to break up the long day. We also scored a seat for Illuminations at like 6 (show was at 10) so we had a lot of down time. Illuminations with the 4th of July tag was probably the best thing I've ever seen in my life. AND Epcot had EMH that night so we just strolled around WS, dancing to the patriotic music that was playing. Got a few drinks, took some pics in front of AA...it was really cool! We even rode TT before we left, hardly any way. It was perfect! :thumbsup2

Now that I'm fairly sure we have our new dates finalized I headed back over to this area!It looks like Sept 30th checking in at AKV for one night...this day will be a resort-only day of relaxing/swimming after driving all night the night before! This way we'll be completely rested and ready for our trip the next day! And then we'll be checking in at Pop on Oct 1st - Oct 6th. Before heading back home. Nikki and I might bump into each other for a few minutes...but she's on such a crazy schedule this trip, so we'll see!

Anybody going to be in the area? We're not adding park days to that day, just exploring AKL. I'm flipping excited, always wanted to stay there!

We did the Wishes cruise on July 3rd with Nikki and Tom last year - the MK fireworks were amazing! We were staying at the CR on Club level so we watched on July 4th from the lounge but MK was packed to the gills by late afternoon.

Lois, we were looking at pictures from our Wishes cruise in 09, and Anna Kat asked me if you guys were coming this year and if we could do it again. I absolutely love that our Dis'ing has created memories like that for our kids! I hope you and Janet and the kids are doing okay. I won't tell anyone else the plan!! That is a smart idea to watch the fireworks from the lounge.....just get there early enough to grab a window. We watched from the balcony of the Club lounge last year and it was packed. Luckily we got there early enough we had a spot.

That can be a long day at Epcot. If I remember correctly, it does not start getting crowded till afternoon. We have been there twice for July 4th - last year it was raining so it kept the crowds down. But even the first time it was not bad. We did grab a seat for Illuminations early though. Hopefully, you will have an ADR to break the day up too - that is what we did. I know one year they had a scavenger hunt for the kids that was unique to Independence Day - not sure if they still do that.

It was not me who saw the monorail accident. That was either right before we went or right after we got back......

I wish we were going in early July! We do APs every other year, so one year we go late July and the next year early July. This is a late July year - so we will be there with the Brazilians........I prefer early July because we still have time when we get back before the kids start band camp. This year, they only have a week before it starts....

The July 11 Board is pretty active lately. You should check it out!

I was at WDW for 6 nights in December (probably should've posted here :)) and we're heading back in June for a few days before DIS Unplugged Podcast Cruise 3.0!

Thanks for bumping this thread Tom! It's always good to catch up with the group every once in a while!

I was in WDW for the first weekend of Food and Wine, ran the Halloween 5K in the Animal Kingdom AND had front row seats for the Magic Kingdom 40th anniversary celebration! It was a CRAZY weekend but so much fun. I'm currently planning another trip in exactly 4 weeks! After that, probably August. Anyone planning on being there during those times?

I was at WDW for 6 nights in December (probably should've posted here :)) and we're heading back in June for a few days before DIS Unplugged Podcast Cruise 3.0!

Oh, and a few trips to DL in the mean time.

When are you going in June? I will be back in the World for spring break - March 31- April 6th, and then we are going somewhere around June 28th - July10th give or take a day or two.

We have a 5-night cruise on the Dream on June 24th (DIS Podcast Cruise). We'll be there a week or so before and maybe a day after it returns.

Love seeing updates to this thread, can't believe it's been nearly 3 years now :goodvibes

DH and I have booked for October this year - staying 7 nights at the BWV for Food & Wine and MNSSHP :thumbsup2 .... then just last week, DH's family asked us to go with them to Orlando for a summer vacation in August! Unlike our July 2009 trip with them, we'll be staying offsite (which I've not done since 1996!!) :eek: - but on a good note, DH's niece is coming with us this time :woohoo: she is 7 now and loves all things Disney, princesses, pink & Tinkerbell! Although August won't feel like a full WDW vacation, we will be going to all four parks & my DFiL has asked me to book a few restaurants for us :thumbsup2

And... in June 2013, DH and I have booked to go on the Disney Fantasy for 7 nights to the Caribbean! So excited for that too - we adored the Dream ship last year on honeymoon.

HI Everyone- I've got a question. I know the parks say a basic schedule right now as far as the calendar goes but when do they update w/all the good stuff? Like the extended summer hours and all the different times for things in epcot and such? And if they are going to have a special summer firework show or anything.
