OK..we are leaving on July 6th for 2weeks at the POR. First time there and by looking at a map, I believe I may request to stay at the magnolia, oak or paterre mansions. They seem to be right near the food, arcades and gift shop. Should I request these?...I have a dd8 and ds12..thanks

If you want to stay in a mansion these are good choices. If you have not requested either a mansion or Alligator Bayou, then I would at the very least put in a request for that. The whole resort is nice, but I think the mansions are extra special for the little girls. Just my opinion, my son stuck his tongue out at them, he wanted to be where the lizards were over in the Bayou, your 12 year old proabaly will be fine with either since he is older! i also think the mansion areas are easier to find your way around than the Bayou which might be a concern of your if you are planning on letting the kid's head to the food court, or go explore by themselves.

HI! I Love POR. I have stayed there many times. I wanted to stay there for my WDW vacation, which also egins July 6. The resort is large, however, the beautiful scenary is worht it. If you are looking for rooms closest to the main building, the rooms that tend to be closer are the bayou rooms. However, the mansions are not too much more of a walk. Here is a link to a map of POR...this will help you better decide where to stay: http://www.wdwig.com/pomap1.jpg

I hope this helps!

thank you all so much. By looking at that map, I am still not sure what to do. The thought of having the kids run to get food my themselves or go to the pool is a wonderful thing. Is there a bridge from the mansions over to the main food court?

Yes there is a bridge that goes directly from the walkway infront to the mansions over to the food court and stuff. It is esay to find it, it's pretty big. If your son likes to spend time in the arcade, and he will be going over there alone a lot, then I would defintiely suggest the mansions. Even I got a little lost navigating around Alligator Bayou!

Seriously...no matter where you stay at POR you will like it. It is a wonderfully themed resort.

We've stayed at POR 4 times, always in the Magnolia Terrace mansion. It has a quiet pool & is very close to the main pool area. The walk to the main building is not bad at all, and very scenic. It's a beautiful resort & hope you have a great time!

We've stayed at POR twice now, both times in Magnolia Terrace. I like this building because 1) there's a bus depot just across the parking lot from your building, 2) you're just across the bridge to the main pool and food court, and 3) you're right next door to a quiet pool.

OK. I think my mind is made up on the mansions. I just hope when I call on Monday they will take my request. Thanks all for your help!
