Hello everyone. On Wednesday is suppose to be sign ups for the ATC swap. Do you all mind if I do it for the following day? I just got back from vacation not long ago & still haven't gotten my groups together.
I still maybe able to get it going for Wednesday, but not sure yet. I will let everyone know for sure by tomorrow. Thanks everyone.
Go ahead & post the groups you would like to see going for it. Thanks again.
I can't wait to swap you all! I will be adding to this thread for other instructions as well.
The 1st swap I hosted was a handfull for me so hopefully this will be better. Any help along the way is definatley appreciated, hahaha.

Thanks again everyone for checking this out. I truley hope I get some new players as the one's who played last time. These groups are not set in stone, so I can add more, take away, or make new ones. PLEASE let me know what you think & what ideas you have.

How to Make and Share Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)

ATCs Are Born to Be Shared Not Sold

An ATC is the same size as a standard trading card for baseball, football, & other sports & character themes. ATCs, like their commercial counterparts, fit easily into the plastic sleeves made for collecting cards.

ATCs & Mail Art

An ATC is just that, a trading card…An ATC is not meant to be sold or auctioned. It is meant to be given away or traded. A great & fun way to get into art & inexpensive compared to regular crafting. You can use other Mediums on the paper you use. It’s a great way to show your vision & creativity to others. Anything does as long the art is original & yours.

The only rule when making an ATC is that is MUST measure 2.5 x 3.5 (pr 3.5 x 2.5 for vertical renderings). It is best to use cardstock, watercolor, or acrylic paper as the base of your card. It is possible to use this cardboard or paperboard.

You can apply ink, stamping, cut up a card, oil paint, acrylics, watercolor, charcoal, pastels, pencil, or really anything that marks an image. The images can be in color, black & white, or layered colors. Attachments are good as long as the main card itself remains relatively flat.

It is important to put the following on the back of each ATC you make:
Your name
Your username on the website you are trading with
Your email address
The title of the work if it as one
The medium & the date
If you have created a series, any number of ATCs in the same theme need to be numbered with the original number etc. 1/5 2/5.
The reason for putting this info on the back is: you may want to contact the artist & see what exactly they used for that card.
Or maybe you like it so much you’d like them to make more for you in the future. You can purchase an ATC stamp for the info on the back of your cards.
There are some people out there that will throw a couple of commercially produced stickers on a card & call it art. For the person who spent an hour creating an original image receiving a card of stickers is very disappointing.
Please use good judgment on the ATCs you are making. Be creative as possible. If this is something you can see your self getting into, you can purchase an ATC carousel from 7 Gypsies. That way you can put the carousel on your desk & enjoy them. It will start to look like a “FAT” book. It’s so much to skim through them.
Also when you go to a crafting convention, some people wear a button that says “ I trade ATCs” & they come flocking. You want to make several of each one & keep them in a binder when you are trading. Make sure you keep an original for yourself.

These tips are from Pam Gaulin & were found on the internet.

Just to add, there will not be stickers allowed at ALL in this swap please If you are using a thin piece of cardstock, it must be matted, so it will last years to come. Must be embellished at least 2 or 3 times please. Inking & distressing is absolutley welcome, but not considered an embellishment, it's a technique. It's not fare for people who put a lot of work & emphemera on them. So please add another embellie to your distressing. Thank you...

FYI, I saw and picked up ATC cards at ACMoore today. They were hanging on the side of an endcap. Lots of different textures and what not.

Yay! I'm so glad that your playing Marlynnp! Does that mean you will be playing too BAMB?

I'm not sure what catergory the girls with the wings would be. You see a lot of that these days with the ATC's. This time around, I am going to have a ton more time, & I will be able to post pics of everyone's cards as I get them in. I'm totally excited!:lmao:

I think your right Yodasmom. That does seem like Fantasy.

Of course I want you to play in my swap again. So here's the question. Will you be playing with us? Please, please, please? hahahaha:cheer2:

Michi, I just ordered my cards from the lady you said to order from!
Is Ethnic countries? I want to do Peru so I can use my Lama stamp.
How do you put brads on ATCs?
I will probably limit myself this time because this is new for me but I am looking forward to it!:thumbsup2

Hi Sharon! Do you swap too?:flower3:

Hi Sharon!!! Welcome to the DIS!!!
You most certainly can join, the more the merrier! I hope you can hang out more so we get to know you.

Michi, can we have a fantasy group or would that go under surprise?
I think I can do this swap, I can bring my stuff to SDV if you don't mind me mailing when I get back. I'll be home on Aug 31. Is that ok?

If so I want flowers, old school toys (big wheel), surprise(Flutterby babies?), and vintage.
Can you tell me what you would want for Gothic? I'm intrigued.

How about a season group, with 4 people? I have an idea for spring. I did a 4x4 rolodex swap with Holly Hobby and it was adorable!!!

I would also like to do one big group, maybe in the fall, of the months. That would be fun! We could either do 12 (doing 1 month) or 6 people (doing 2 months).

Yay, glad your playing with us! Yes, Peru would be perfect.

BAMB, I will for sure add a Fantasy group. That sounds great.
As far as Gothic, thats like skull and cross bones, but not like Pirates, different. Also it can be like Biker type stuff too. Very dark & punkish.
As far as seasons & monrhs, we just did that in the last swap. So unfortunatley that will have to wait until another round. Thanks for the interest on that. Since everyone didn't receive all their cards for that month.

Rita, I love those cards from the girl on Ebay. Me & Disney_Rider use her. As far as putting brads/eyelets on them. I put them on the regular paper 1st, then I adhere it to the thicker cards. That way you don't see it through the other side. It may give it a little bump, but I still think it's better that way.
Remember guys, I always open more groups too of each one as they fill. I hope to fill every group I came up with, but knew ideas are always great if we didn't already do it in the last swap.

Oh, I forgot. I like the groups of 5 better than 4 just in case someone flakes. Plus, I think it makes more sense. It's so much more rewarding in the end. Does anyone want to do groups 6 instead of 5?:confused3

Well, unfortunately, Thursday is not a good day for sign-ups for me since I have meetings that day for work and will not be able to escape until later in the day. So, I will see what is left when I'm available.

There are a few groups I would be interested in.

I do appreciate your adding the requirement of no stickers, etc, so that these pieces are more artful! :)

No, I do not want to do groups of 6 (prefer 4 or 5). The thing with flaking is that, if that happens, it doesn't matter how many are in the group, we're still missing a piece. I sure don't want to sign up thinking someone is going to flake or that flaking is even acceptable. I really don't think that should be the reason for setting a certain number of people in the group. And, actually, I don't sign up for swaps where people, with a previous history of flaking, indicate an interest.

I'm so glad you brought this up Karen. Flaking is NOT acceptable in my book. But, for some reason, this craziness happens. Hopefully, it won't his time. I will not allow previous flakers to participate in my swaps.
Sooo note to people who aren't sure you can't commit: Don't sign up!

Please make sure you can deliver on what you have signed up for. Because you don't only want to upset me & others, you may not be able to swap here again since things are getting more strict here.
I want this to be enjoyable & have too many rules. But common sense is common sense people. I don't want anyone not signing up because they think someone may not deliver.

Okay, I looked through the last thread, holy canoli, 47 pages! First off, I love love love what you all did...Secondly, I don't think I can do it...Thirdly, have you ever heard of drywall tape? It looks exactly like magic mesh, and is much cheaper (and you can color it any color you want with inks and a little heat setting :) ).

So, I think I will be sitting this one out, but will watch to see your lovely creations! Have fun,

morgansmom, I thought I couldn't do them either (yes, after I signed up for like a million groups:rolleyes1) but I found some came out great, some were not so brilliant, but its a bit like card candy - stamps really come into their own ;), and because they are small you can print things out from the internet etc. and they don't look tacky and fuzzy:thumbsup2

Have a think about it... I was really daunted when I first did mine, but once Id' done them I found going back to scrapping weird - a 12x12 page seemed HUGE:rotfl2:

Mazda, you are soooo right! :thumbsup2After doing ATC's 12x12 IS huge. But I still love to do both. MorgansMom, go to Two Peas in a Bucket & then click Memeber Gallery. Then type in ATC's, in the search engine on the left middle area of the screen. There are 1000's of ATC's to look at. You'll fall in love with them.:cloud9:

Don't be afraid of them & don't worry yours will be as good as others. I think everyone should try them. It's all about trying something new & getting out of the closed box that you are use to doing.

After you do them, you will see that your scrapbook pages will get more Artsy & more detailed....:thumbsup2

Michi,
Were you going to add a group for monuments like we talked about in the interest thread a couple of weeks ago? DR brought it up, and we were talking about things like NYC buildings, Eifel Tower, etc....I mentioned some Chicago ones, etc.

Also, we talked about considering a group for sentiments, though I guess these could be applied to other groups.

Just wondering.........:)

Oh, thank you for reminding me. I will sure add those two groups you guys. Surina, what didn't you tell me girlfriend?
One more thing. Do you guys mind if my grilfriend Gail signs up for a couple of groups? She doesn't have a computer, but I would do all the checking in & everything for her? She lives just down the street from me. It would only be 1 or 2 groups since she has never particiapated in swaps before.
