Just wanted to see if anyone here had any experience buying/selling on Nikonians. There may be something I am interesting in buying, or maybe even selling (yes, I do know how to sell sometimes rather than just buy buy buy :lmao:) and just wanted to get some feedback.

I previously tried to sell something on Craig's List and got nothing but crap responses back about things like wiring money to Nigeria.

In general, regarding buying and selling from places online other than e-bay, my general questions for anyone to answer would be:

1. Is selling via PayPal on a site other than e-bay safe in terms of not getting ripped off? I would ask for payment prior to shipping, but I didn't know if there were any catches.

2. Is buying via PayPal on a site other than e-bay safe? If for some reason I paid for an item and it was never sent/the seller vanished---do I have any legal recourse or any way to get my monies back?? :confused3

I don't know the answer to all your questions, but I can say that I bought my Sigma 10-20 through Nikonians, and everything went very smoothly. The lens was just as advertised. It had been bought for a single trip and rarely used since, so it was practically new, and cost me significantly less than all the other used ones I saw on eBay. So there's that, for what it's worth.

My general experience is it is a safe place to sell and buy.

I can't answer for Nikonians.org, but I will say I haven't had any trouble with Craigslist. Heck, I got DH on Craigslist! :rotfl2:

I takes patience to go the Criagslist route, and you have to keep reposting over a few day to a few weeks, but for a cash transaction it's a good place to sell or buy IMO.

The other place I've tried - but it doesn't get as much traffic as Nikonians is Digital Photography School.com in their forums. :)

Rule of thumb for paypal is not to ship until the money is in your account, and not to purchase without an invoice generated by the seller. The invoice and the receipt that is automatically generated by your purchase will act as proof in case you get scammed. Remember, with a purchase, if it looks too good to be true, it is. ;) (But I know you already know this! :))

Pay Pal is not just for ebay, there are a number of reputable online stores that use pay pal. I've used pay pal more for non ebay items.
