I read here before that people put presents and invitations in the bedroom for children when they got there, anyone else got any suggestions on those extra little magic touches?

We didnt tell DD we were going in February and as she fell asleep we got all the way there before she realised. We also stayed off site the first night and then surprised her with the fact we were staying at DLH for even longer.
We also surprised her with lunch with the Princesses and a new Princess dress. It was a real holiday for surprises.

Another time we didnt tell her til Christmas day that we were going on Boxing day - we bought her a suitcase and packed it ready and wrapped it with her other presents

Most things we have done have been leading up to the trip rather than actually while there

This year I am going to have MEGA fun!!

I recently went to the Disney Store and bought a Minnie Mouse dress and got it gift wrapped (the box is HUGE!). The CM's put two Mickey balloons in the box for me to blow up when I get to DLP - and leave them tied to the bed in the Cheyenne with an invitation of it to join Mickey and Friends for his party! The gift is of course a gift from Minnie - along with an invite to join her dinner on the last day before we go home to say goodbye :goodvibes

In the morning of our trip (she doesn't know yet) I have bought a fantastic suitcase which will be left in her room. I've got a Mickey helium balloon to tie to the handle saying "Hurry up! We can't wait to see you!". Inside the suitcase are Disney clothes that I have been buying over the last year (seriously I have and now I have worked out she has to change three times a day to wear them all!!) and set of Minnie ears.

I've got the taxi ordered for 8.30 so the school kids round here can see us go (they still don't believe that I am taking them, even though they watched me leave for WDW last year!) and the driver has agreed to get a message sent over the wire to announce Eowyn's name (good luck pronouncing that mate) and to officially invite her to board the Eurostar. It's 5 mins at most so we will be really on our way!

Dad and StepMum are meeting us at the station and we'll board that magical train.....

Oh man I'm excited!!!

I agree on both counts, this year we are going to for the fun, now that our kids are older.

Also I think we are going to be more excited than the kids.

Last time we went we brought a princess dress for our daughter in the UK. Disney store packed it into a box with some mickey confettii. (trust me we are still finding them and we went 2 years ago and have moved house.)

We surprised them by telling them on the train, up to that point they didnt know. We gave her the dress one morning whilst there, she wore it all day (and wanted to sleep in it)

This year we are going to suprise them with a postcard from Mickey and Minnie inviting them to join the party.

We are also planning a dining suprise. Although we are staying in Hotel New York we have booked a meal at Invention in DLH. Both kids want to know what the big pink place is like inside so one night we are going to sneak in to take a look. Then take them for the meal!!!!!!

The whole idea of the trip is about getting to things we didnt do, so more shows, we did most of the rides last time.

However we have dared each other to ride SM and Tower of Terror......

My daughter hand-made an Easter card for Mickey at school. She packed it and carried it around in her little bag until she met him at Inventions. It was lovely to see them interacting.

She thought of this all herself (her teacher tried to get her to make the card for us but she was having none of it!), it was a really cute idea.

We went at Xmas last year. We kept it from my 5 year old son, woke him on the Thursday morning with letter from Santa that read along the lines of "You and your sister are going to see Micky and Minnie for Xmas".

He was gob smacked!

I would love to do the "Wake up honey, we are going to Disney World!", but I don't think I could keep my excitement in!!!!!!

I'm doing that next year ROFL! But to my Dad as he really hates all the build up...apparently we're not allowed to be excited as we get to noisy. So we'll do it behind his back and drag him along at the last moment!

That sounds a good idea -

You know there is a postcard thread where you can ask someone going before you for a postcard to be sent to your DS/DD.

They have some fantastic things on the Creative DISigns board.

The people on there are so kind and personalise anything for your trip, i have made loads of t-shirts with all our groups names, i have also made everyone their own auto personalised autograph books and treat labels to leave on their pillows.

Stop by and have a look at their stuff its amazing!:thumbsup2

Change of plans. I'm just a bit excited:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I was going to do the helium balloon in a box the morning we go but ........I've managed to get big cardboard cutout decorations for Mickeys Magical Party:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay: five foil balloon shapes and a giant balloon with pictures of the park and characters on it!

I'm going to decorate the living room and have a helium balloon with the invitation attached. When the girls come downstairs they'll find out were going that afternoon.
