DVC Family-
This is my first post under my own signature: CaskPeg. Thanks to all of you with your many thoughts and prayers to my family during these difficult times without Bill.
Thank you for all your personal messages and posts...they have softened the emptiness which has struck us. The many happy memories of "all things Disney" started on Bill's and My honeymoon to Disneyland over 35 years ago. The "magical beginnings" will continue in our family for years to come.
Once again--many thanks to all who Bill touched and assisted.

Welcome Peg.
Although most of us never met your Bill, he touched so many in this experience we call life: at home, around the town, from state to state, and across the world through this media.
Bill will be activley mentioned and referenced for years to come here on the DIS; just one of the legacies he made and earned.
DiznyDi and I send our love and prayers to you and yours.

Hey, congratulations for getting on the boards!! Maybe computer prowess runs in the family. :)
I think of Bill nearly every day when posting on the DIS. In fact, I got busy making an appt. with my cardiologist who wanted to run some tests back in Jan. but I had been putting them off. Glad to say that so far prelim. results are good. I too want my 35 happy years with dh and kiddos.
Take care.

Welcome to our cyber-home, Peg.:cloud9:
It may seem strange that so many that have never met your Bill care so much. We live in a different world now, and may you continue to come here often to find warm people who really do care about one another. And when one is gone, they are sorely missed.
Welcome Home Peg!
Like you and Bill at DL, Nancy and I honeymooned at WDW. That was 31 years ago. Stayed at the Contemporary. I wonder how many others began their Disney adventures on a honeymoon?

Glad to see you here! I live in Iowa (Mason City) and the story of Ed Thomas (the AP football coach) was so sad. But Bill and Ed had so much in common. Gone before there time, and truly touched so many! We were only lucky enough to "know" Bill through these boards, you were the truly lucky one to spend your life with him!

Thank you for posting. It's good to have you here.
I never had the chance to meet Bill in person, but I did get a chance to talk to him on the telephone. He was so easy to talk to and so helpful to me as I was learning how to use his auto processing program. A couple of hours just flew by.
God bless you and your family. We will not forget all the kind things Bill did for us.

DearMickeyCrazed- I have been part of the DVC family for a long time--just a silent one that didn't post. Bill would occasionally call me into "the computer room" to see a post or to ask if he left something out. Now I have decided that I should share some insights with folks just like Bill did. I am not on his level with the computer..but then he started on his first when our daughter was 2 months old! (thirty years ago). Are you staying at Kadani Village at AK? If so you will love everything about it.

I am really looking forward to DVC- Hawaii as we have traveled there and had stayed at a property very near where it is currently being built . Maybe in the future some time...I will get there again.

Yea Peg! So glad you're going to hang out with us. Our story is starting like yours and Bill's.... one trip and we've become addicted to everything Disney! Third trip in 3 years, and looking forward to planning our next trip.
I do hope you get to stay at THV soon, I would love to stay there as well. Let us know how it is when you get there! We too, love OKW and I can't imagine staying anywhere else, but my better half is a nature NUT so THV is right up his alley, just like the tropical feel of OKW is right up mine. So we will get there sometime.

SamSam Thank you for your kind thoughts...as Bill loved to help people who had questions or problems to solve...I guess that was the teacher in him shining through. We met as both teachers in our old high school that we had attended previously. All these years we have traveled to many DVC locations. I will post when I can put accurate information out there...otherwise I listen and read a lot.
Thanks again-

hockeyprincess If your husband is a nature lover like my Bill was....you need to go to Hilton Head Island DVC as he would be entranced by the area. They use to give a naturalist tour of the place upon request. Not sure if they do it any more...but there is a nature preserve a short distance away that they do a 1/2 day--or at least a couple of hours guided trip to from the property by van. I think that he would enjoy that also. If you hop the van to the Beach House...you can rent bikes and ride to your heart's content as this is one of the best bicycling beaches around...or just play in the sand...or swim in the pool inside the beach house. Look and Investigate as it is truly a nature's paradise. If you are a shopper...outlet malls abound so there is a little for everyone.
Good Luck-

This sounds WONDERFUL!! Best of both worlds. I never knew this about HHI, I really appreciate the info and will look into planning a trip there very soon! And guess what, I love the ocean AND shopping!! :rotfl: Thanks again for the info! I don't know much about HHI or Vero but would love to check out the resorts. It is good to see you posting :goodvibes! I chuckled at this quote because I'm the primary poster in our house and my DH is the silent one but I think he feels just as much "on the boards" as I do (and you do, too!). Looking forward to reading your DVC and WDW insights.

RLRDA Sometimes...we just let our spouses "shine in their own areas" and then they excell beyond belief at what they do. So, it was with Bill(Caskbill) did..he had a niche of his very own to Shine in....I never questioned that as it was also his area of expertise.
Congrats on your upcoming trip to " the magical world of Disney" I will be making magic with our daughter's wedding...so it will also be magical for our family.

That's funny because it is the exact opposite in our home. My DH is always the silent one in the background, and I always read my posts to him for his opinion. :goodvibes
Anyway, we are praying for the opportunity to stay in a 2 bedroom at Kadani in December. We are taking friends with us who will bring their grandchildren. (2 boys, 10 and 8). I just think it would be very magical for them to have a savannah view, and the opportunity to play in the pool area.
However, we may have to 'make do' with our crummy WL ressie! :lmao:

As others have expressed, I, too, think of him each time I see his program icons on my computer screen. He was very helpful and always gentle/mild. Hopefully your loss has been a bit easier to go through knowing how much so many people held him in esteem.

If you get into Kadani...you will love it. I did notice, however, that there is very little storage in the Kitchen of the one bedroom. So if you carry a lot of food for family you will be "cupboard challenged" for storage. The unit is truly gorgeous and the resort wonderful. When Disney does something...they do it right. You will especially like the kids water-play area near the pool for Kadani. Also the parking under the buildings is really nice in the warmer time (when we went in May.)
