For an Alaskan cruise I leave for later this week there will be 2 formal nights. I have a new silvery scarf (about 5 foot by 2 1/2 foot) to use with a black dress. I have never been a scarf person, so would appreciate some ideas on different ways to wear/tie it? I also wonder if one removes it for the meal (can you tell this is my first cruise?).

If this helps, I have a round face and a Winnie the Pooh build!

I am not that great with scarves but I like to drape it loosely around my neck and let the end float free behind me. Kind of like a mini train. I am sure you will have a wonderful time. My parents are due back from their Alaskin trip of a lifetime Saturday night. They have spent 12 days cruising on trains etc onthe Princess cruise line. Have fun!

I have this same problem! I have so many beautiful scarves that I have been given thru the years, and I am terrible on how to wear them!

For one that long, I'd say wear it like a shawl...draped over your shoulders, and across your forearms...if that makes sense?? When you are at the table, you can simply slide your arms out and leave it across the back/arms of your chair until you are ready to stand again.

They don't have many for long scarves, but it might help

Good for dresses with no sleeves....
I don't know if I can describe this but here goes....

drape it around your neck so the ends fall in front (not behind you), take the ends and gently pull them behind you, under your arms and lightly tie behind your waist.

This should make a mock coat if your scarf is wide enough. I did this on our cuise with a black sleeveless dress and used the scarf to cover my shoulders when I was cold. Then I didn't have to worry about it falling off or holding on to it.

Have a great cruise.

Thanks all! I just got back from Alaska and used the scarf several ways you all suggested- thanks so much!

By the way, Alaska is beyond words and beyond incredible. I was floating in an ice field by a glacier this time yesterday after seeing eagles, sea otters, humpback whales, habor seals, sea lions, moose, caribou, elk, bears, owls...... Today I'm back in North Carolina in the hot humidity with a ton of laundry to do, sniff! The only bad thing about Alaska I can think of at this time is the distance to WDW, LOL!;)
