everyone says do it 4 days in advance.
Now, exactly how is the 4 days measured?
We are checking in on Friday, so I would assume Monday is 4 days prior. Wife feels it is Tuesday, she coulnts Friday as a day.
So, which is it???
Thanks :p

It can vary slightly (but not much) from one resort to another but room assigners will generally block your room three days prior to your arrival day. For a Friday arrival, that means they do it on Tuesday.
Arrival Day=Friday
one day prior = Thursday
two days prior = Wednesday
three days prior = Tuesday
four days prior= Monday
You win! ;)

I booked through a travel agent months ago; since then my mother has had back surgery and I plan to request a room close to the food court (etc) at ASMu. Do I expect the travel agent to take care of that, or is it my job? And if it's the latter, where can I get the fax number to make the request?
Thanks a lot!

MickeyMonstersMom:
Your TA should take care of those for you. It's all part of the booking process. But if he/she can't or won't, you can fax ASMu at 407-939-7222.
Your worst case scenario is to ask at check in if you can get a closer room. The check in CM's have some flexibility in changing your pre-assigned room.

I'm sure that the personnel at the travel agency are professionals and will handle this fine; however, I'm so Type-A that I think I'll book my next trip myself (especially given all the fantastic tips and advice from this site)! I don't have a counter, but 62 days... ahhh...

The Cm at CRO told me that they don't get the information downloaded into the resort computer until three days prior so not to bother faxing until then. They do this so any cancellations will not go to the resort. Not sure if she was right-they HAVE been known to give out wrong info. Just thought maybe you might want to wait until three days out.

I'm sure that's what she told you Carrieberry. Surprise! Another CRO CM that's not right.
It does vary by resort but most will download the incoming reservations five days prior during the midnight to 6:00 AM period. At the absolute worst, all resorts will have the information onsite by the morning of the fourth day prior.
CRO can give you great information (usually) about room rates and packages. Period. They are not trained in or know anything about resort operations. They don't even work onsite at WDW.
