I think there was thread about this on here before but I can't find it.:confused3
Can anyone here offer some info, advice or insight into buying a property in Florida? In particular is there any agencies that specialize in this?
Thank you for any help you can give.:)

Upon a recommendation from another Canadian member, we are using Karyn too for our current search for a house. She is great. Very responsive. Email her and she'll hook you up with some listings.
Any idea which neighbourhood you're looking at?

Depending where you are looking. My parents have a place in Ft. Myers and has a great real estate agent. He was very helpful with them, and often checks on their place when they are not around.
PM me if that's where you are looking.

I'm actually thinking closer to the beach, and more likely a condo (that we can rent out as well). I hope to hear from someone who has done this. (Fort Myers looks nice but a little pricey for me)

I'm in Florida right now, just bot in Emerald Island Resort. The house buying process in the US is unbelievably stressful, bank system is almost criminal with the cr@p they pull. I know the economy is bad, but geeeez.
Biggest lesson learned: Unlike our "possession date" they have a "closing date" which is rarely on time!! We came down to "close" and had to spend a week at a rental b4 we could get in.
And that's only half the troubles we've had. I could go on and on, but we've lots of work to do! Trying to get house ready to rent!
Good luck, when you're ready to purchase, maybe let me know, I can give some insight. I wish I had some. Karyn was great, but there's always Cdn/US differences that are just plain weird.
