... after being told over the phone that it's sold out? I would love to go parasailing on Castaway Cay and I was wondering if anyone's had any luck booking it on the ship? Are cancellations common?

In April we had the same situation and checked at the booth on Castaway Cay that morning. They did have a couple of openings but only for singles. I think they had three at different points in the day. I couldn't use any of them because I was looking for two opening so my DS could go with me.

Be one of the first ones off the ship.

Thanks, HBC! Anyone else have any experience with this?

I don't know if the times were full at the pre-bookings or not, but hubby was able to book a walk-up appointment a couple of cruises ago. It never hurts to ask...the worst they can say is "no!"

Just returned from the Magic (Western 6th of July departure). After being told on the phone that I couldn't sign my 15yo DD up on her own I walked off the ship at about 10:00 on Castaway Cay. Walked up to the booth and signed her up to go BY HERSELF in a 10:30 slot. Can't promise that everyone will be that lucky but it is worth a shot.

The same thing happened to me on the June 29th Magic. The gal at the counter on Castaway Cay said that they book one boat for the appointments and have a second boat for the walkups. And she said no adult needed to go with the children though if the child was under 90 lbs [I think] they needed a partner but it could be another child. So I signed up my 12 and 15 year old.

The bad news, when we arrived for our appointment, the second boat was broken and all the walkup appointments were cancelled. My only complaint was that we had to traipse all the way over there and back again [the parasailing dock is by the ship where the trolley picks you up.] That took 45 min. of our short time on the beach. An announcement would have been nice. But we rented kayaks, paddle boats and got a banana boat ride and still didn't spend as much as the parasailing would have cost.

Hint: A lot of folks forget to show up for their banana boat rides. The attendent there allowed us to suit up and we just hopped on one that would have left half empty.

As you walk off the ship it is on the left hand side just after they stop you to take a picture.

I was on a Jan 2002 7 day DCL trip and booked the parasailing the day before we got to C.C. Even if it's booked now keep trying to book early and also check when you board for your cruise. I would still check at the shack when you get off the ship, they may keep some slots reserved for walk-ups.
I had a blast, it's definitely worth doing !!! Have a good trip.

We just went on the Wonder the end of May and my dh, ds and father walked right up to the booth at Castaway Cay and booked the parasailing and then went snorkeling with no problems at all.
