Although most of our August vacation will be in the Beach Club, we will be spending 3 nights at the WL on the concierge floor. We have two children, ages 6 and 9. Can any WL veterans give us any tips of what to do, what not to miss, etc.? How is the pool? Any good restaurants? We'd like to make the most of our short time there.

I spent 4 nights at the WL with 2 daughters (3 and 7). Although not an expert, here are some things we liked doing.

Get a water mouse and cruise around for 1/2 hour.
Ride the boat to FW (check out what river country looks like now) and to the Contemporary.
Get a list of clues from guest services about finding Hidden Mickeys.
Go for a bike ride.
Watch the fireworks from the boat dock in the evening.
Have dinner at Whispering Canyon and let the kids run around with the waiters and yell and scream.

The pool is nice, a tame slide, and lots of chairs.

Roaring Forks has good food for a quick bite, Artist Point looked nice but there wasn't enough time to plan a dinner there, and Whispering Canyon was wonderful.

Wilderness Lodge is a great resort. The concierge level makes it an even nicer place to stay! They have a continental breakfast, afternoon snacks, evening appetizers with wine, and desserts with cordials. There is also a staff out by the elevators that can help with priority seatings or answer questions. Concierge rooms also get nightly turndown service. There are three views available, either woods towards the MK, the lodge courtyard, or the courtyard between the lodge and villas.

:) Enjoy your stay!

Don't forget to ask to be Flag Family when you check in.....I think they still have this. They'll escort your family to the rooftop (around 7:00 A.M.) so you can raise the flags for the day. It's an awesome view and you can get lots of great pictures. They'll give you a certificate and possibly vouchers for breakfast at Roaring Forks....their fast food restaurant.

It was definitely a highlight of our stay at the resort.

Other fun things to do at Whispering Canyon Cafe:

1) Ask for ketchup (I know - a repeat)
2) Ask your server for Pepsi
3) Mention to your server your plans to visit Universal Studios tomorrow
4) Wear a Universal Studios T-shirt to the meal
5) Ask your server where you can buy GUM at WDW

Also, don't miss the geyser!

.....if I wasn't excited about the WL before, I sure am now! I'm going to try all this stuff...the Flag Family, the bikes, fireworks, water mouse, etc. I'm even going to try the restaurant and do all the things you guys are telling us to do, although something tells me we are in for it????

Thank you!!!!

One more thing... When you go to Whispering Canyon, tell your server that you are in a big hurry. ;)
