Welcome!
Thanks for reading our newbie PTR! You'll find much more info about us in later posts but here is a quick overview. My wife, Traci (username tracisup), and I are going to Disney World in May 2010 with our daughters, Brooklyn (age 4), and Paris (age 3) and son, Max (age 18 months). Yes, you're right, we do have our hands full :) This is our first trip to WDW and we can't wait! The kids are so excited and they are getting really good at spotting hidden mickeys as you'll see in later posts!

We made our decision to go to WDW back in May 2009 and joined disboards a little later on. As far as planning for our trip, we were completely at a loss (for obvious reasons!) before joining disboards. We had so many questions (still do) but hearing what others have had to say has really helped us. Hope you enjoy our PTR - and join us for our TR next year!

My husband and I were using the same username until today. (adamtraci)

We are so excited about our trip that we wanted to start a PRE-Trip report. We thought it would be best if we had different usernames but both typed in the same report.

Who am I? My name is Traci. I am a busy working mother of 5.

Who is he? My husbands name is Adam. (his DIS name is adamsup) We have been married since 9-11-01.

Who are they? I have 5 kids. Andrew 18, Adam 16, Brooklyn 4, Paris 3 and baby Maxwell who will turn one next week.

When? We have our first WDW vacation planned for 05/08/10. The teens will not be going on this vacation. My oldest son, Andrew will be in Iraq and my 16 year old son has declined.

I am SO excited about this vacation. There is so much to plan! I discovered these boards about 2 months ago & I just can’t seem to get enough of them! It seems like each time I log on I learn something new.

Here are a few pics of us

Mickey Earrings

you never know if you are gonna get pixie dust when you go so we are buying little things here and there for our trip. We've already bought a few things like some battery-operated glow spinner thingies that spin (imagine that) and light up all different colors. Thought these would be great for the night time.

Traci bought Mickey earrings for all 3 girls (Traci, Brookloyn and Paris) yesterday - they are so cute we thought we should share them!

Hey, i'm just as crazy as you all are. I just started my pre trip report for SEPTEMBER OF 2010:scared1: We just came back from our first trip this past May and are totally excited to be going back next year. I had so much fun with our first pre trip and trip report that I wanted to start next years up right away. Plus we're getting married next 4th of July so they'll be wedding plans as well. Come check out ours too.

Your kids are adorable!!!! And we'll have fun planning this long wait until Disney together. There are a few other disers as well here that have their 2010 pre trip reports going too. We're not that crazy.......Are we?:confused3

Oh well, I think life is so much happier with wonderful things to look forward to.

Nope, not a Disney wedding!!!! Those are ridiculously expensive. That would be nice though. But we also want all of our family and friends to be there. We are getting married at home on the 4th of July and then going to Disney, but we didn't want to go in July, too hot and crowded for me, so we're planning for the end of September!!!

I made a list of things that we will want/need to take with us on our trip and it was pages and pages long SO I made a plan to start getting one or two things each week.

I have been reading on the boards that a lot of little girls at wear princess dresses and minnie mouse dresses while out and about in WDW so I ordered Brooklynprincess: and Parisprincess: each a MINNIE DRESS on EBay. The seller had them listed for 37.00 each and 5.00 each for shipping. I sent the seller a message asking for BOTH dresses for 40.00 and free shipping and he did it! YAY!

Here they are. I LOVE them!

Stroller Decisions

We've been doing some thinking about our strollers and how well they are going to work for WDW. Since we have 3 kids (4,3,1), we have 2 strollers. One is a single-rider Evenflo that we use for he youngest; the other is an in-line double stroller that we use for the two girls.

The problem is that the double is already starting to get too small for the girls so in another 9 months when we go it will be even smaller.

We were in Toys R Us one day and I spotted a wagon that I instantly fell in love with. I sat the girls in it and walked around the store with them in it. I really liked it plus it had some good features like a roof that can be used to put your stuff on, cupholders inside the canopy area for the girls and some storage space under the seats. Very functional :woohoo:

Here's a pic so you know what I'm talking about.

http://dyn-images.hsni.com/is/image/HomeShoppingNetwork/4395047w?$pd300$

Well, I later found out on Disboards that WDW doesn't let you bring anything that is designed to be pulled into the parks. When I was practicing in the store, I actually preferred to push than pull, but I know the wagon is technically designed to be pulled or pushed, so probably doesn't meet the acceptable criteria :sad1:

Soooo... back to square 1. I really don't want to buy a new stroller just for WDW. What to do... what to do.... :confused3

Fly or drive?

We're obviously still in the early planning stages here ... Last night we were mulling over the pros and cons of driving versus flying.

Here are a few of our considerations...

1. Sanity

According to Google Maps we have a 13 hr drive (not including traffic hold-ups, breaks etc). That makes me  just to think about it. But I do this :scared1: when I think of doing it with a 5, 4 and almost 2 yr old.

According to Expedia it's a 3 1/2 hr flight from our local airport to Orlando. Obviously, this is a major win for flying so far.

2. Cost

Well, unless gas prices spike to European heights... driving wins this one. Although I was surprised to learn that round-trip flights for 4 (under 2's don't count) not from an international hub only (lol only) cost $1450-ish. That was as of last night. 2 months ago they were pricing around $2400.

3. Convenience

We're planning to stay on property at a monorail resort (think CR but not totally sure yet) so we won't need our car once we're there. We live 5 minutes from the airport so that would be a plus. We could leave on the early flight and be in WDW by 10am :cool1: and then leave late on our last day and get home around 10pm. By doing that we gain almost 2 extra days than if we drive.

If we drive we have the ability to use our van to get to other places but like I said, we are staying on property at a monorail with no plans to sightsee outside of WDW, so not sure having our van there is such a plus.

More to come I'm sure.

Thanks and welcome! There's so much cute stuff for girls. When we go shopping for my son there's always an entire section for girls and then just a little rack of boy clothes like it was an afterthought. What's up with that?!

I'll head over and check out your PTR, can't wait to see what you're planning too.

Hi Peeps. I thought I would update.

I must confess. I have turned into one of those obsessed Disney trip planners. I can’t help it and I don’t mean to but I find myself on these boards every single day reading tips and secrets. I have been busy making lists and buying things to get us ready.

Last weekend, JC Penney had a HUGE sale. They had their Dockers luggage marked @ 70% off and then on top of that, on Sunday they had a one day sale and a coupon for 15% off of all sale prices. It was almost like THEY were paying US to get the luggage! Adam and I each got one of these

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/ff/luggage.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/ff/luggage.jpg

I went to Walmart the same day and found these for only $19.00 each and got each of the toddlers one of these!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/ff/kidsluggage.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/ff/kidsluggage.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/ff/kidsluggage.jpg

I have also been obsessed with searching EBay for Disney items every single day. I want to get a head start on clothing for us and for the kids. It is going to be a bit tricky with the kids because their summer things from this year will not fit next year and when we go (May 2010) it will be early summer and the summer clothing will not be in stores yet. I got a little pair of Mickey Overalls on EBay. I have found a few things on clearance at Walmart and Babies R Us for next year but I still need a lot more.

I found some adorable Minne Mouse pajamas for the girls at Walmart last weekend and an adorable pair of Mickey Mouse ones for Maxwell at Babies R Us. I will try to take pics of them later. I found this at Walmart too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/ff/DSC04711.jpg Its princess bubble bath. That’s a must have for a Disney vacation, RIGHT?

Have a good weekend everyone! Ill post more soon!

Now I feel so much better about how crazy I have been. My family has decided to take a trip to Disney in April 2010. My family thinks I'm crazy with how much planning I already have done. I couldn't bare the thought of telling them that I already have a packing list together.

Just like you, I have already purchased some items and keep hiding them in my closet! :rolleyes1

I absolutely love the planning phase..I live for this stuff. This website is the best place. I used it to help plan our Disney trip 4 yrs ago.

The group is DH, myself, DS10, DS8, sister, niece, fiance, their 9 mo child (at the time - she's due on Monday ), my other sister and possibly her boyfriend and 22 yr old son.

We are renting a pool home off grounds which is owned by a family friend...free to use! ;) I toyed with the idea of driving but weighed the pros and cons. Having our 2 boys in a car for over 19 hours just doesn't sound like a good idea to start a vacation. I'll spend the money for my sanity!

Great deal on the luggage, we already have luggage but I do frequent the Disneystore website to see if their luggage goes on sale, and I'm figuring a way to convince DH we need more :lmao:

We are also on the lookout for Disney clothes, have you been on the DISigners boards-some neat artwork, buy solid color shirts and make your own Disney shirts, personalized. :)

:rotfl: Yes Princess bubblebath is a must :thumbsup2:rolleyes1 You know, Max just had his 1st birthday. With him being a baby now, it is hard to think of him as a proper walking and talking toddler. He will be one month shy of his 2nd birthday. He might not actually like princess bubble bath! LOL I need to keep him and the fact that he is a boy in mind more when I shop for Disney vacation things.

We are also on the lookout for Disney clothes, have you been on the DISigners boards-some neat artwork, buy solid color shirts and make your own Disney shirts, personalized. :) I will have to check out these boards. I have been looking at IRON-ONs in EBay and the prices look great. I looked for some solid Tees (granimals) yesterday at Walmart but they dont have many now. Fingers crossed they will be out early next year when I know my sizes and need them.

I guess I'm going to have to check out Ebay for dresses. I mentioned on my PTR that I wanted to find some cute princess dresses that weren't a fortune. I'm not crazy about the dresses at the Disney Store, they're expensive and cheap looking. :confused3 Nobody responded to my inquiry, so I'm glad I found your lovely PTR. My DD is really into princess/fairy stuff so I need to buy a few dresses to take on our trip in March.

I don't think you're crazy for planning and buying stuff so far in advance. I'm actually buying stuff for my unborn child for the trip already. :lmao: The CS agent for United laughed his butt off when I tried adding my baby to our flight.... He told me to of course call back after our baby makes his big debut. :rolleyes1

Look forward to reading more! popcorn::

Walmart has great princess dresses and fairy dresses at the moment, They even have the gloves, purse and crown to match each of them. You should check there ASAP. They normally sell out in September when people start thinking about Christmas.

Good luck, let me know if you get one.

PS too cute that you tried to book a flight for someone who isnt quite here yet LOL

Hello. Getting closer... Only 213 days to go!

I remember last year I was so sad when Christmas was over - but this year I can't wait for it to be done since it makes us that much closer to vacation time!

Our oldest daughter, Brooklyn, is finding hidden mickeys everywhere. We were driving to preschool one day and she noticed a hidden mickey - can you spot it too?

These pics were taken back on Halloween 2009. We went to Rafferty's for lunch and the staff there were all dressed up in costumes, as were our girls of course - not that they needed a reason to dress up!

Our waitress Snow White in the middle. Paris on the left, Brooklyn on the right.

Traci figured we should start practicing our food-picture-taking skills for our trip report so here they are. Granted the food is not amazing like it is in WDW. .

Traci ordered the chicken quesadilla

Some time back in September we officially booked our vacation online with Disney. Got the heart racing a little :yay: Put our $200.00 deposit down. It was a good feeling to get it officially booked.

Here's a quick run-down of what we booked:

- Our vacation dates are from May 8 through 15, 2010.

- We finally went with the Deluxe Dining Plan, mainly because this is our first trip and we want to experience as many restaurants as possible. We know it'll be way too much food but it all looks so good! Eating at restaurants is something we love to do as a family, so we don't see it as a waste of time that could be better spent in the parks. Enjoying the great foods and restaurants is part of the experience too in our opinion!

- We skipped the water park add-on this year but plan to do that in the future when the kids are a little older. Added the park hopper so we can be more flexible with where we go.

Now that the vacation is booked, we had to get down to some serious planning :teacher:, ready for the 180 day ADR deadline.

Granted the food is not amazing like it is in WDW. .

I know we told you early on that we would be writing our pre-trip report and our trip-report together. Just because we are writing the reports together doesn't mean we will have the same opinions. :rolleyes1 Actually, sometimes we might have very different opinions or accounts of a certain day or situation.

This is one of those times. Adam's post from earlier today is not actually accurate. He is correct when he says that we went to Raffery's and he is correct that Snow White was there but THAT FOOD WAS NOT FROM THAT DAY! :rotfl: We have been taking a lot of food pictures and I think he got mixed up! :confused3 I am typing this from my son's laptop and dont have handy access to the REAL Rafferty's pics but oh well.

Here are a few pics that I do have access to and thought you might enjoy looking at.

Once we booked our vacation, we felt a tingle of excitement because now it's real

Next thing we had to do was figure out our plans, which parks to go to, when to schedule our meals, what parades to see, which characters to meet, what rides to go on etc etc. Very daunting task for us considering this is our first time. Luckily, reading the disboards has helped a lot.

Things we kept in mind when creating a basic schedule outline:

1. don't try to overdo it and see everything in every park. especially with kids our age.

2. build in nap time every day.

3. schedule our meals in the near vicinity of whatever parks we are in at the time.

4. try not to repeat restaurants. at least, this is our plan for this trip. being our first time, we really don't know what restaurants we will love so we want to try as many as we can. we know what other people love from reading the disboards so we basically created our hitlist of restaurants based on what other disers have said. here's our list:

1900 Park Fare
Akershus
Boma
California Grill
Chef Mickey
Cinderella's Royal Table
Contempo Café
Coral Reef
Crystal Palace
Donald's Safari
Grand Floridian Café
Hollywood and Vine
Kona Café
Ohana
Polynesian Luau
The Wave
Whispering Canyon
Yak and Yeti
Le Cellier
Liberty Tree Tavern
Sci Fi
Prime Time Cafe

Our basic daily schedule will hopefully go something like this (at least in an ideal world anyway!):

- Breakfast fairly early, around 7:30a-8:30a
- Park until lunch
- Lunch around 12:00p-1:30p
- Nap/swim depending on how everyone feels until around 3:00p
- Park or other activities until dinner
- Dinner around 7:00p-8:30p
- May plan to go to bed shortly after dinner, or go to an evening activity such as Wishes

Next up, our ADR experience!

November 9th was our 180 day mark. To make things go as smoothly as possible, we did some recon a few days before the 180 day mark to figure out what exactly we needed at our fingertips for the online reservation process. We had previously read various posts from people saying they were up early and couldn't get through or the restaurants were fully booked by the time they logged on or they couldn't find their reservation confirmation number etc. We didn't want to be scrambling around finding stuff while the reservations filled up.

The night before ADR time, we found out that the online reservations opened at 5am CST so we set our alarm clocks 20 mins early (just to be safe :thumbsup2), set the coffee maker and gathered our necessities... credit card at the ready, (for the signature meal bookings), confirmation number, planned meal schedule, pen and paper (not sure why we got that, seems like a pen and paper is a good thing to have when something important is happening!), made sure the laptops were put on charge, added the ADR reservation pages to our online bookmarks and off to bed we went.:faint:

Next morning, we were up and ready to go by 4:50am :surfweb: and were rapidly refreshing the ADR page hoping it would open early. And it did! It was 4:57am and away we went!!

Forgot to mention we had prioritized our ADRs in order of importance. Paris' birthday lunch at CRT was top of the list. We were able to get almost all of our ADRs within a few minutes of our planned times. We had been thinking all along it would be a fight to get anything close to what we wanted, so we were very surprised. One ADR we didn't get was lunch at 'Ohana on Friday. Guess that must be a popular one because it was pretty high on our priority list but we still couldn't get it within an hour of when we needed it. Based on our schedule, we couldn't be any more flexible than that. We did get 'Ohana for dinner a few days before that though, so we're not so upset that we didn't get it for lunch. We're still planning to try periodically in the event someone cancels, so we'll have to see.

Some comments about the ADR Site...

While we were pleasantly surprised at our luck booking the ADRs, we were surprised by how hard WDW has made the ADR booking process. Did anyone else find it cumbersome?

It took over an hour and a half to get all of our reservations. There were these annoying checkbox selections that appeared after each reservation asking if we needed highchairs and booster seats. Something else that was annoying was we had to select all of the attendees for each reservation. WDW should really have a "remember last" option so we don't have to do that. Having to select 2 adults and 3 kids each time really adds to the time needed to book a reservation.

And what's the deal with the reservation confirmation numbers!!!??? We had no idea that our account would not give us access to our ADRs once they were booked! The only way to pull a reservation up is to know the confirmation number... and how the heck are we supposed to know it if we didn't write it down?! Never occurred to me that we would have to write it down because it would disappear into oblivious once we closed our browser! :confused3

So the next job once we were done booking was to call WDW and have the rep read off each confirmation number :headache:

At the end of the day, we were happy with the way things turned out, a few hiccups aside.

Next up, I'll post our ADR schedule.

I'll be anxious to see what ADR's you booked with Deluxe dining. Wow! Congrats on getting most of your ADR's.:thumbsup2:cool1: I got all the ones I wanted too, we decided to cut down our table service meals since my boys don't do so well with eating out and character meets have proved to be challenging with both of them-so we cut down to two character meals at Disney and one at IOA. I did it the old fashioned way though, I called Disney Dining, because I couldn't figure out the online system, and was surprised how easy it was by phone.

LOVE all the pictures you have practiced taking and the kids costumes were adorable. Will you try and take the costumes with you in May?

Can't wait to see what else you have planned. :)

We totally know it's gonna be to much food, eating 3 meals a day at WDW plus the snacks etc. Feel a little guilty going ahead with it actually haha oh well I'll get over it!

You didn't miss anything by calling instead of using the online system!

We have a few costumes that we're gonna take - princess ones mainly, snow white too I think. They will wear them for the princess character meals. They keep changing their minds about who they're gonna be but they're gonna have to be Bella and Snow White because that's what we have bought!

Glad you got your ADRs without any problems. I'm gonna head over to your PTR to see what you have planned.

Thanks! We are planning to take the Minnie dresses with us. Right now, Brooklyn and Paris have a Bell dress and a Sleeping Beauty dress. For Christmas, they are getting a Cinderella one and a Snow White one from Santa. Also, Nana is geting the each a tink costume (one pink and one purple) for Christmas.

I am planning to get Maxwell a pirate:piratepirate: costume to take but it has been a challange to find one thats cool & cozy for summer. Still looking tho!

We've been paying off our vacation religiously since around August 2009 or so. We didn't use a Disney Visa card or anything like that (don't need another credit card haha). Instead, we put ourselves on a payment plan, which has worked out really well.

Just pulled up our account today and realized it's only 32 days left until it's due in full. Amazed how time has flown by - especially since Thanksgiving to now.

Only 93 days until our vacation. Think we're planning to go through the mass of stuff we have accumulated through the year and "tucked away" for our trip. I'll be very surprised if we can fit half of it into our bags!

Since we haven't flown domestically since 2001, we're planning to make a trip to the local airport (it's about a 5 minute drive), and find out exactly what we're allowed to carry on, how much each bag can weigh how many bags we're allowed etc. Like for example, is a stroller considered a carry on?

I'll be sure to post what we learn.

adamsup

We’re going to the airport today to learn what we’re allowed to take on the plane, how big our carry-ons can be, whether strollers count towards our allowance etc. I think I’ve read somewhere that you have to pay for each piece of baggage over your limit. So today’s research will hopefully avoid any “surprises” on vacation day!

adamsup

We went to the airport today since we had a bunch of questions about what we are and are not allowed to do. I'll do this in a Q&A format so maybe it will be helpful to anyone reading this that might be planning to fly.

Question: is there a weight limit?
Answer: 50lbs per piece.

Question: how much does it cost to check luggage in?
Answer: $25.00 for each person's first checked bag. Didn't find out how much for a second checked back. If you carry on instead, there is no charge.

Question: do our kids get a carry on too?
Answer: yes they do, even Max who will be on a lap.

Question: is a stroller considered carry-on?
Answer: no - baby items are free and don't count towards either checked luggage or carry-on no matter how many you have. Diaper bags, strollers etc are all free. Other personal items such as a laptop bags, purses etc are also free.

Question: can our older kids (5yrs and 3 yrs) have strollers too?
Answer: yes.

We have several iPhone apps that we're planning on using for our trip in May. Here's the rundown - I'll write a review of each one later.

Itinerary apps to keep us on schedule

e-Ticket WDW (Disboards App)
TripIt
WDW Wait Times
WDW Park Hours
Google App

Apps to keep everyone updated on what we're doing

Facebook/Twitter (of course - won't bother reviewing these)
Wordpress

OK, here is my first iPhone app review: e-Ticket WDW official Disboard App.

It's $5.99 so might put people off who try not to get paid apps. Personally, I always try the free versions if possible, and rarely get paid apps unless the free versions fall way short.

Anyhow, back to the review :)

Maps - 9/10

It has a nice GPS-enabled mapping system for all WDW parks (pinch to zoom included) with thousands of POIs that you can just click to bring up details about that item, user reviews etc. You can filter the maps to only show you specific types of POI such as restaurants, restrooms etc, which is nice because having all POIs enabled can really clutter up the maps.

Another must-have is the search feature for times when you need to find a particular ride or POI, and this one works well. I can do a search for restroom and narrow it down to a specific location - pretty handy for emergency potty breaks! Only bad thing is if you search for something but don't know which park it is in, you have to jump from park to park looking for the little POI icon.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/pictureId3797384.jpg

Points of Interest - 8/10

According to the app website, it has over 3000 POIs to choose from. I think they could have done more with the descriptions of each POI when you bring them up on the phone. For example, I pulled up the description of Expedition Everest and it gave me some basic information on it, but as a parent I was hoping for the height restriction info but this is not included on any description :confused3 You can jump to disboards from within the description and read what others have said though, so chances are I could possibly find what I'm looking for but less convenient this way.

One great plus is that the food POIs have menu info included. Really useful if you pass somewhere and want to know what they have to offer. Or you wanna find the nearest place that sells dole whips. The search system easily lets you find that too.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/pictureId3797457.jpg

In-App Itinerary - 2/10

The itinerary app needs A LOT of work unfortunately. What's nice is you can search for POIs and add them directly to your itinerary. However, the day-by-day itinerary is pretty useless. It separates things by day but nowhere does it easily show you the time of each scheduled event. A nice idea but really badly executed, at least in this version. Hopefully they will improve this functionality in later releases.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/pictureId3797612.jpg

In-App Disboards - 6/10

It's nice to be able to have mobile-optimized access to disboards directly from the app. Overall it meets my needs, although I would like to have an easier way to find my subscribed threads. I have to go through the rigmorole of searching for threads created by my username. Would be much more convenient to have a link to all my subscribed threads and maybe a way to bookmark specific boards would be good too.

Park Hours - 5/10

The app has a listing of park hours but this is limited to the next 30 days only. I suppose this is all you need during your vacation so won't mark it down for that. What's missing is some schedule info on other events such as parades, Wishes, Illuminations etc. There's a separate app I have that gives me this info, and I will write a review of it later) but would have been nice to have this info within the disboards app.

Summary - 7/10

So, all in all a pretty decent version 1 app. It meets a lot of my needs for our trip with room for a few improvements. Worth the $5.99 in my opinion :thumbsup2

TripIt iPhone app review

I came across this one as I was reading how other people keep on schedule during their vacations, how they keep track of restaurant reservation numbers, cell phone numbers of the people in their party etc. Some people create Excel spreadsheets, others write it all out on index cards etc.

The way it works is.. you add an unlimited number of events via their website (tripit.com - free account required) and then install the iPhone app that lets you access the itinerary directly on your phone. Really handy!

Here's an iPhone screenshot of our upcoming vacation in May.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/fa00b0f0.jpg

Each event is clickable and opens up to give you more details. You can't add/edit the event details via the iPhone app - to do that you need to go to the tripit website and make changes there.

You can add as much or as little as you like to your itinerary. As you might be able to tell, we like to plan so our itinerary is pretty much an hour by hour account of what we need to do, where we need to go etc.

To start with, each event first needs to be categorized as either a flight, restaurant, activity etc. Once that's done, the event details form opens where you can add a plethora of information from the basics (date, time, location etc) to the nitty gritty details (see below for a screen shot of the restaurant event form).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/restaurantevent.jpg

So basically you just add events and then you can access them via the iPhone app. In addition to the basic itinerary feature, TripIt also has a few other nice features.

For example, you can export the itinerary that you have built to Outlook (not Outlook 2003), iPhone or Blackberry calendars so you don't need to access the TripIt app at all. This could be handy if you have an iPod Touch for example that doesn't have a constant internet connection.

Another nice feature is the ability to share your itinerary with others without requiring them to sign up for a TripIt account. We have set it up where our parents can all access our itinerary via the TripIt website so they can be jealous of us during our vacation!

Summary

I would give this app a solid 8/10 because it's free and you get a lot of features for a great price. There are ads on the iPhone app but they are non-invasive. If I could add/edit details via the iPhone app and not have to go to the website then I would have to give it a 10/10 rating. Maybe TripIt will make that happen in future releases.

Nevertheless, this app is a keeper for my iPhone and definitely something I'll be using when we go to on vacation. :thumbsup2

WDW Wait Times

This app is user-driven, meaning that the wait times are submitted by other app users. It has a nice, simple interface. The first screen asks you to select a park.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/wdwwaitpaid1.jpg

Once you've done that, you're presented with a list of attractions, broken out by park section and the current user-submitted wait times in eye-catching black and white.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/wdwwaitpaid2.jpg

As I said earlier, the app relies on other iPhone app users to submit wait times. So, if you're walking by an attraction and see the current wait time, you could submit it via the app.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/wdwwaitpaid3.jpg

One nice feature this app has is it's GPS functionality. It can present you with the current wait times of any attractions within your vicinity, which is great for people who are winging it and don't have a specific plan in mind.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/mouthysup/wdwwaitpaid5.jpg

Summary - 7/10

This is a straightforward app with a really simple concept. I gave it a 7/10 mainly because it gives you exactly what it promises and it's nicely put together. The drawback however is that it totally relies on other app users to submit wait times, which means you will find attractions that have not been updated recently. This app relies on the legwork of other app users who may (or may not) want to spend their time updating wait times for the benefit of others.

We've decided to send a box of stuff down ahead of time that will contain heavy supplies like diapers, wipes etc. Did a price comparison of UPS and Fedex and a 30lb box will cost about $20 to send. That'll be one less thing to have to deal with.

We packed clothes just to see how many bags we're talking about. Looks like we'll have 4 bags and carry-ons. We could probably consolidate and make it possible to only carry on the bags, but we also have strollers to consider. If we carried on 4 bags and also had to deal with 3 kids and 2 strollers, I don't think we would be able to manage. So, we'll check the bags and then we'll have 2 strollers and our carry-ons to worry about. The kids can get in the strollers which will make moving through the airport much easier.

I just got finished checking in online. Really easy, the whole process was complete in a few clicks. Hopefully that will speed up our check-in next week.

Also just bought the PhotoPassCD online.

Can't believe it's finally here... only 6 days to go! :thumbsup2

Well, we spent the last few days packing some of the heavier supplies and disposable items into a big plastic tote that we're planning to ship via FedEx to the resort.

Basic items such as wipies, shampoo, conditioner, bandaids, pizie dust for the kids (toys, glo sticks and other small fun things that will magically appear in the rooms at various times), diapers etc. So fingers crossed that the box not only gets to CR without incident but also finds its way to our room ready for our arrival! I have the tracking number added to my FedEx iPhone app and I am watching it like a hawk! Will probs call the resort once we see that the package got there safely just to confirm and make sure it gets to our room OK.
