First off.. great 2bdrm, great bldg, best view of marsh & creek, tuesday fireworks, etc, etc. Just one small thing, the room is haunted.
DD & her DBF were in 2nd bdrm. She was sleeping in one bd, he in the other. He woke up in the middle of the night thinking he was seeing our DD sitting on the bd staring at him. He asked if she was ok, reached out to her and the apparition vanished. Then he noticed DD sleeping in the other bed. :scared1:
Next day there was a "Ghosts and Legends of the Low Country" stories being held in Big Murggie's Den. We went solely to hear if anything was ever reported at the resort. Nothing was said so we stayed after to talk to the storyteller and ask specifically. He asked what bldg we were in, after we told him he confirmed they had rcvd at least 5 letters from different families not related to one another accounting the same incident. He knew the bldg but never knew the room #. He always wanted to incorporate the accounts into his story hour but Disney frowned against it. He also said he had spoken with some local Gullah folk and they said the really old oak in the back of the resort was once known as the "Justice Tree". Which could explain a lot.
Went back to the rm and checked on the boards to see if anyone ad ever reported anything like this and I couldn't find anything.
Whether you believe or don't believe.... we'll be talking about this trip for a long time!

Wow! I think I'll stay out of Bldg. 31 at Hilton Head. I could definitely see Disney NOT wanting B'lou Crabbe to tell people that the resort is haunted.:scared1:
As for other resorts... the Boardwalk is definitely haunted. There is definitely something scary about the pool slide. The hallways are straight out of the twilight zone, and have you seen those chairs?? Really...everyone should stay away, especially from the boardwalk view rooms, especially when I need a reservation. :rotfl2:

When I had a massage last year at SSR, my therapist told me the Contemporary was the most haunted hotel on property- that the therapists did not like working there because of it.:scared1: Lots of stange, inexplicable stuff going on.
So maybe some of those ghosts will head over to BLT for a change of scenery!:rotfl:
And next month I will look at bldg 31 at HHI in a whole new way!!

Sammie,
The room is on the first floor. Closest to the creek end (west?) not pool end.
Mickey's Apprentice,
Yes you were right. It was B'lou Crabbe that we spoke to. He said he grew up on Pawley's Island and knows gullah folk who told him about the Justice Tree. He also thought if Disney let the word out the room would be booked solid for several years straight!
edk35,
B'Lou Crabbe said the accounts were from the same bldg but he never knew a room #. Either the guests who wrote in didn't report which room, only the bldg, or Disney didn't share the info with him.

Now my DH, would I'm sure just love to have that very villa! Didn't know about the Justice tree, either but I'm sure I know of the very oak he is talking about right in that area.
Since you were right on the marsh, did the high tides freak you out any? We were so surprised every morning to see how high the water pooled into the courtyard area from the especially high tides occuring all last week.

We just came back saturday afternoon, we were in room 3014 (building 30).
Saw and heard nothing unusual.
What many people may mistake as ghosts is in fact the person waking up before the brain has completely switched from REM sleep-you can actually "see" images, which are in fact conflicting signals from your optic nerve (what you are really seeing), and your brain (not actually there).
That is probably why the OP's relative thought he "saw" the um, sister was it?, at the foot of the bed-he was dreaming about her, woke up, and his brain had not switched gears completely from rem sleep to awake, and he saw some flashing (and to him completely real) images that disappeared.

Announcing ghosts in their hotels may be the perfect way for Disney to drum up even more business in this 'dead' economy. Maybe that is why so many can't make ADR's......the ghost guests are snatching them up before the living can even dial in! Probably why so many of the living are on waitlists too, don't ya think?
I have never had any ghostly sightings at the resorts but I did get creepy crawly feelings at Kidani in May and once in the Haunted Mansion a couple years back. No sightings, just chills and the feeling that someone was there.

When we were at Disney's Hilton Head last November, we had a record cold week and when the wind would blow through the oaks, it made the weirdest noise. We would all look around at each other and bust out laughing when it would happen.

:) Don't know why but I find personal experiences like that fascinating. Have a B.A. in psychology but never got to take the parapsychology course. I am addicted to Ghost Hunters on Sci Fi.....but would never stay in a haunted house. DH takes me on the Haunted Mansion ride every year and it just creeps me out so bad.....especially the bride....:scared1:
I did stay by myself one time on the 4th fllor of Northshore Hospital in Slidell LA...I would come to work from MS so they would let me spend the night. I must say I will never ever do that again....it freaked me out so bad and when I told the other nurses what happened. They could not believe I stayed up there by myself.
But hey, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express one night.:rotfl:

Just to let you guys know I am not into any of these ghost shows or stories. This was the first time this ever happened to me,oddly I was very comfortable and unafraid when it happened.I think it is amazing that we both saw the image of a girl sitting up on the bed.My image was about 11 to 13 years old with black shoulder length hair, and maybe with glasses. Is that what you saw?

It was my daughter's boyfriend that had the experience. I just showed him your post and he said that was exactly what he saw. He doesn't remember seeing glasses but it was definitely a young girl, sitting up in bed with long dark hair and she was staring at him. He said it didn't scare him either. Just startled him. When he reached out to her was when she dissipated.
It's actually reassuring to know someone else, unrelated to us, witnessed the exact same thing. Makes you wonder how many others may be out there that have seen her but didn't report it.

Too cool. I love ghosts and ghost stories. :) We just got back from a weekend in a haunted hotel in Baltimore. Didn't get to see or hear a thing, but it was fun trying!
The Front Desk people told me that guests actually get upset when they stay there and don't "get" a ghost - as if you can request one! One lady was so upset that she wanted her money back - as if a ghost was a room amenity.
Thanks for posting OP! :goodvibes

Spoken like a true Sherriff! Actually DD had been sick that day and had gone to bed early, even missing dinner. Her boyfriend, waking out of sleep, assumed it was my daughter sitting up still feeling sick. He asked her if she was ok. When she didn't respond, he reached out to her which is when the young girl dissipated. After she dissipated was when he noticed our daughter still asleep in the bed where the apparition had been sitting.
Nice try Sherriff but not on that particular night! ;)

What did happen? I've never heard any rumors or sightings at Northshore hospital. I'd love to hear about it.
Cool, I was hoping you would ask...well, obviously I am a nurse...chose a room on the 4th floor in the corner of the nursing unit which is good size and 'closed'...no patients at all...completely by myself. Watch TV for a while and dozed off but not in REM when I hear an elevator open and shut, just the noise of it. My door is shut and I am at the opposite end of the hall from the elevator, maybe 50-60 feet...typical lenghth of hosp hallway. I noticed the noise didn't think much of it..I fell asleep..
next thing I know I hear water running...from my sink...in the room...since I am in bed, I think that's odd, must be someone giving a bath downstairs and these pipes are loud. Several minutes go by and just when I nod off...it happens again....I listen to see if it is pipes I am hearing or actual water...it is about 4 in the morning at this point...I close my eyes and it turns completely on and off a third time...I sit up....can't see the sink because it is dark and recessed in a niche in the wall....but it is definitely on in my room and water is flowing down the drain....getting chills just thinking about it.
So I am rattled at this point and just decide to get up...Turn on the light--don't remember if I looked in the sink or not...get undressed and start the shower. Washing my hair and all of a sudden I am scalded by hot water, immediately turn the faucet to get relief and out of the way. Now for those of you not in health care...hospitals are funny about water temp so you can't burn patients. I mean this water was hot instantly...no build up to it. Getting a littled freaked at this point....start washing hair again...scalded again. finally I say out loud "#$%^ ghost, stop $%$# with me". Water stays perfect for the rest of the shower.
Go down stairs to report in, walk in the staffing office and tell them I stayed the night that is why I am early..."where did you stay", on the 4th floor, "By yourself!!", yeah, "I wouldn't do that if I were you", why, "there is a ghost of a man who fell down the elevator shift here during its installment", gee thanks, "yeah several people have seen him or know the story".
Note to self....just don't stay here again..so I didn't.

I wish I hadn't read this post before our trip. We just returned yesterday from a 7 night stay. Our first at HHI. I had requested bldg 24 or 27 and we got building 31! Room 3112!!! I immediately thought of your post and asked to be moved. I was told the resort was full, this was the only marsh view available for our stay. We kept it, but I have to say, I was nervous in the middle of the night, especially if I had to get up to go to the bathroom or something. We didn't see anything, but I do think the resort/room had a creepy feel to it in the evenings.
