October Columbus Day weekend: how crowded?

Hi everyone I was hoping to find out what the World is like on Columbus Day weekend? We are plannning a 5 day trip for a fencing tournament at Disney' Wide World of Sports for my 17 YO DS, 18 YO DD and the paying parents(us).
I was wondering if the crowds are a pain and what the weather is like. Is is still as hot as August? I know they have reduced hours but if the crowds are low that will be fine.
I was hoping that the Halloween things would be happening but it may be too early. If anyone has ever been during this time please respond I am hoping this will be a good time for our family.

Hi. We always go the week preceding Columbus Day (our NC school has Fall Break that week) and usually leave Disney on Columbus Day. The week is fairly calm as far as crowd level, but gets busier late Friday for the long weekend. Only once we tried MK on that Saturday and never again. Other than that, the weather is fabulous, great swimming weather, but not too hot to enjoy the parks. That Friday, the 11th, is the first Mickey's Halloween Party in MK 7pm-midnight. We already bought our tickets and it's lots of fun. Any other questions, just ask!

hi if its a holiday weekend does that mean that the late night parade and fireworks will be on the sat night as we were worried that we might miss them while we are there, we also have tickets for mnsshp on the 11 oct looking forward to that!! susie2 :jester:

Do I need to purchase the tickets for the Halloween party when I make my ressies? I know that my family will want to attend that.

from what i have read the tickets went on sale at the end of april and tend to sell out quickly, so i would get them as soon as possible, to avoid dissapointment, susie2 :jester:

We were there in 2000. Weather absolutely perfect. MK on Saturday evening the most crowded I've ever seen it -- and I've been there on Gay Day!
