Ok so I've tried this PTR thing before but our trip just never happened.:confused3 Now with DH's new job and us in a new State this is actually going to happen. And there is the possibility of a bonus mini trip to Disneyland in store for us in December since my cousin is getting married in Anaheim- how could a DISer possibly go all the way to Anaheim and not go see The Mouse? They can't, so if we go to the wedding in December than we go to the Land for sure. Our trip to the World will happen in March 2010.

So on to the cast of characters:
Lets start with Me, I'm the Mommy -Jessica, the main Disney fan in my family though my DS(4) is starting to race for biggest fan. I'm 31 been to the world only once:eek: for my honeymoon, wish I could've been more times and certainly have several trips planned in our kids and my future. I have however been to Disneyland more times than I can count since I mostly grew up in California and I've been going since I was a baby. Here I am with my baby:http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture313.jpg

Next in the cast of travelers is my DH- not such a Disney fan, but doesn't want to miss out on any adventures the boys have. Paid me the best compliment the other day in saying that in all the mother-child interactions he has seen, I'm the best mother. Ok, well he is 38 and a high school teacher and football coach. Football to him is what Disney is to me. So it's nice we each have our thing. Here is DH and I on our honeymoon http://img381.rockyou.com/imagehost/13/13637/13637873/13637873_e93030b41224719005_m.jpg

more to come...

Our Story…Our Fairy tale wedding…
So I’m originally from California and my DH is originally from Pennsylvania and we met in Las Vegas of all places.

No it wasn’t a weekend fling or anything; we both actually lived there for several years. We were both substitute teaching for the school district, him because he moved to Las Vegas in the middle of a teaching year and was waiting to get hired on as a regular teacher and me because I was still working on my teaching degree (btw I’m still working on my teaching degree, that is what happens when you get married and get preggo on the honeymoon). So we met and six months later we were engaged and ten months after that we got married. It was a fairy tale themed wedding, complete with Disney princesses, castles, tiaras and other themed Disney fairy tale symbols as centerpieces.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/IMG_0007.jpg

Then we jetted off to Walt Disney World for our honeymoon, my choice of course.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/IMG_0014.jpg
I always knew I would honeymoon in the world, it was just a matter of convincing the man I married, and lucky for me my DH is easy going. And although he still bugs me to this day about jumping on the bed too early in the morning for a honeymoon, he is willing to travel back to the World with our kids (though he still thinks I’ll be the one jumping on the bed in the morning). I was less informed then, I didn’t know about making reservations or any special tips for visiting the park, I’m happy to now be more informed and to call myself a DISer, surrounding myself with other like minded people.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/IMG_0013.jpg
We stayed in the All Star Sports Hotel, we had park hopper with the water park, etc on it, dining plan, and at the time they had this like honeymoon type package so we also got a couple golf session (we had a choice between golf, Cirque Du Soleil, or couples massage- we golfed since I got to pick the location of the honeymoon, DH got to pick our extra activity). And we also got a carriage ride included in our package complete with champagne which neither of us drinks- so we just had water.

Ok so I left off with our honeymoon, well a month later we found out I was pregnant so in March 2005, baby made three.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/jackeagle.jpg (remember my husband is from Philly)

My DS Jack is 4 years old now, where did the time go. When we go in March he will still be four, he doesn’t turn five until the end of March. He is a very active high spirited boy. He was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in January of this year, and was in a self contained class this past school year for pre-school. He has made great strides with his speech and occupational therapy for sensory issues, and we are getting ready to put him in a “regular” daycare or pre-school setting this next school year. See we just moved as previously stated, so we don’t know exactly where to put him yet, since we have the possible trip to California in December and then our WDW trip in March.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture078.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/image00121.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/spiderjack.jpg

He has already visited Disneyland two times and is VERY excited to visit Mickey’s castle in Florida, you see the castle at MK isn’t the castle of a princess in his world- it belongs to the big cheese. We have never gotten to ride on Dumbo, and we have plans to ride that first. We have gone through the phase of LOVING Cars (still does), Mickey (still does), and he has now moved onto Phineas and Ferb…. And most recently Spiderman (I know not a Disney character, but his newest obsession). Aside form Spiderman… he LOVES all things Disney like me.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/IMG_0013-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/IMG_0012-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/MYDC0143.jpg

And then once again we got the crazy idea in our head that we wanted one more… So baby made four…

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/joeybirth.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/jackjoeyannouncement.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/joeybaptism.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/joeyflyer.jpg (had to add one philly pic)

The baby formerly referred to as Baby Joey by all in the family (we are trying to get away from that since he is one and a half now and not such a baby anymore). He will be two when we go to Florida in March (his b-day is in February). He is all smiles almost all the time. And he currently loves all things Mickey. We have two Disney sing-a-long DVD’s, one of which is his favorite, and he will sign Mickey (we do sign language with him- I learned some for my Jack when he didn’t talk at all, and so have used it with the baby too, we came up with a sign where he puts his hands up on his head and wiggles them to make Mickey ears-this is how we know he wants that video) when he wants to watch. My DH is ready to throw the DVD out because he is tired of hearing the same songs over and over every day. I told him we’ll just have to get more then, we used to have more but Jack has worn the others out so much that we finally had to throw them out, and Joey just started watching tv this summer. I’ll be anxious to see how he does with characters the first time since brother Jack didn’t do so well on his first trip. I think it’s easier when you do have a big brother though, if Jack does ok, then I think Joey will do ok.

I love the pics! Go Eagles!! I'm a big fan of all of the Philly teams. My dad grew up right across the river from Philly in Cherry Hill, NJ--so I grew up rooting for all of those teams! I've even been to several Phillies and Eagles games!

Your pictures are beeeeuuteeful ! Eagles fans eh? We're a Bills family! Great to hear Jack's progress and good luck with the school system. Be firm!

Excellent choice for your first ride and I hear you about the worn out Disney Sing-a-Long movies. We've had to scotch tape some movies back together on more than one occasion and I'm pretty sure we have most of them. :rotfl:

My boys are a little farther apart than yours, but Demetri worships Alex and wants to do everything he does! Isn't that the BEST?! :lovestruc

Thanks ladies for the comments on the pics.
My husband will be jealous you've gone to so many games, he has only been to a few I think. He played football, so they were always busy with his games.

I wish I could scotch tape our videos back together, but they are mostly so scratched that they skip.

ok a bonus update coming up cause we went to the zoo yesterday...

JPFamilyMom

So we went to the local Zoo yesterday and we had great fun, and I got some insight into how our trip could be... the good... and the bad....and the in between ;)

Here we are at the start of the day:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture085.jpg
Jack insisted he keep his backpack on (I had a little car, tissues, a little book, and a gatorade in it for him)

Here we are on the train, Jack holding his ears, not a big deal, he is at least still smiling, but the noise was just too much for him:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture097.jpg

Here is everyone still happy, but starting to get restless as we near lunchtime:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/zoo.jpg

Then we went past a carousel and lucky for us there was no line, we went during the week, so Jack loved riding that and this is what Joey did (he'll have to get use to it since he will probably do that part of each day while DH and I take turns on rides with Jack that Joey can't ride):
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/cooljackondragon.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture117.jpg
**side note here: carousels make me sick, that is why Joey couldn't ride this time, he'll get to ride the one in MK

Then we grabbed some lunch and there was a water fountain that kids were playing in, so we decided to let the kids wet their feet;) Jack is on a restricted diet due to possible adhd associated with his Autism Spectrum Disorder, and hot dogs and anything with red dye are on the no no list, but today I let him have them (more on this at the end of our day)
This was the result of getting feet wet:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture146.jpg
Lucky I always pack a change of clothes, so I have it noted to take two outfits a day for my boys instead of just one outfit per day as originally planned.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture148.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture153.jpg
At least I think they will enjoy seeing animals in AK, we will be able to do those trails

Jack was feeling very brave this day.... he even went up to this Bear five times... has me feeling good about interactions with the characters on this trip:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture155.jpg
And then he saw this cool viewing area, but we couldn't see anything:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture162.jpg
By the fifth trip back to the bear he starting looking like this though (and we knew it was time to head home):
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture156.jpg

At this point he needed to take his shoes off and be bare foot, and if any of you have children with sensory issues you may understand this, he had to brush his feet and legs with his sensory brush at this point. He did this while we headed to the front.

He was fine but irritated most of the way home, and then when we got home, he lost control, I think the hot dog and red dye went to his head, so he ended up in a big time out where he crashed hard and woke up in a better mood thank goodness.

So lessons learned:
1. On our trip to WDW he needs to stay on his special diet
2. We must carry all sensory brushes with us everywhere we go
3. He'll need some quiet time in the middle of the day to prevent full out meltdown
4. Changes of clothes will be necessary to take with us wherever we go for those unexpected events
5. Will be looking into earplugs for Jack participating in louder attractions

still to come... the other members of our traveling party
and 4th of July is this weekend, so we are still deciding if we are going to the fireworks or not- we have not had good experience with them in the past, but I don't want to miss out on our trip- so will be trying to condition Jack to tolerate fireworks (as learned from Mickey_Mom)

I can't see your pics yet but it sounds like this trip was a fabulous way to have a trial run so to speak and get some great lessons out of it. :thumbsup2

Ariana was the same with her backpack for school. :goodvibes

How does Jack do with the earplugs? Would he tolerate them longer than just for loud attractions? I don't mean all the time, and Ariana doesn't have a sensory issue so I'm not totally familiar with it, but perhaps the lower decible level would help keep him calmer for longer periods of time? When Ariana gets restless, she likes to hold little figurines. Keeps her hands busy and helps her focus but still participate in everything around her.

I'll look for your pics later today!

Yes and this was a trial run without DH, things will go smoother with an extra hand. I had my family there but it's different... you know?
I'm not sure how he will do with earplugs, he still hasn't made it through a hearing test successfully, at least not when they put those things in his ears, but I'm hopeful. But I'll figure something out if he doesn't take to them.
I had the car to try and keep him calmer, but it was just too much in one day. We'll be making several trips to the zoo before Disney (we are going to become members, and I'm planning a trip almost every week) that should help him learn how to adjust to things.

i just read through your ptr. your kids are sooo adorable!! i am so excited for you guys to go disney. that is so funny you met your DH in vegas!! my DF lived in vegas for 5 years also and then came back to NY where i met him. you all look so happy and jack looked so cute at the zoo and like he really enjoyed it. i am sure your trip will be ok, you seem prepared with what needs to be done for your kids. as for the DP, now that i read your ptr i understand why you asked me the question about how loud it is. no matter where you stand in the park, the sound is basically the same for wishes. it is about 20-25 mins long and mainly fireworks and disney music at the same time. if you can get earplugs(if jack will wear them) i think it i will help. i know it is hard with an autistic child (my sister is an OT and works with many autistic children and my friend's son it autistic also) but do you think if you try to get him use to the plugs before you go it will help? I hope so b.c it is a great show and wonderful disney music along with it. i am sure they would love the music since they love the disney dvd you have. i am excited to here more about your planning and trip! def make reservations now though b/c we tried to make reservations at some places months in advance and it was all booked. chef mickeys(at the contemporary), crystal palace in MK and ohanas at the polynesian(for breakfast-my fav) and they have the characters for example are always booked! they are both worth going to. can't wait to read more!!! if you have any questinon at disney world, feel free to ask i am now a dis-pro and if i don't know my DF does!

:welcome: Steph, thanks for the tips. We have awhile to figure out what we are doing in regards to fireworks, Mickey_Mom sent me some links for information on headphones and earplugs, we are still looking for a good pediatrician in our new area, but think we finally found a school that would suit ours and our sons needs, just farther than we had planned on driving, so we'll see.

ok, time to introduce you all to the rest of our travel party.... so I can finally get started on our planning....

Who else wanted to come on the boys First Magical Trip to the world?:confused3

The Grandparents of course… my Mom and Dad. Oh and my Great Aunt Bea who has been like a second mother to me, my brother and sister all our lives.

:donald:My Dad- hates crowds, doesn’t like waiting in long lines, and isn’t a fan of spending money on “useless” things- oh yeah and can’t understand why in the world we need to spend so many days at WDW. So we are planning a day at the campsite for him… complete with fishing and relaxing… away from all the crowds and lines. He is a dear though; don’t let his dislikes fool you. He is a big softy, and willing to go with the flow for the sake of being with his family. This will also be my Dads first trip to the World, and last :rotfl2: he said he would join us on this first adventure for the boys, but then we can all leave him home- I bet we change his mind after we go. All time favorite Disney character- “Donald Duck.”

:tink:My Mother- loves being in the middle of all the excitement, loves traveling, and would probably spend a month in Orlando if she could afford to. We’ve always lived in California or other surrounding states on the West Coast so have only frequented Disneyland. But she did travel to Florida once before I was born and has visited WDW once. And she travels all over the US and Canada with her Gal Pals. With this being said, since I started planning trips a year ago she has gotten more excited about the idea and has also joined the Disney boards. She is now planning a second trip, and we haven’t taken the first one yet:lmao:. She wants to go for Star Wars Weekends:yoda:. All time favorite Disney movie- “Beauty and the Beast.”

Here is my Mom and Dad with us:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Withparents.jpg

:dogdance:My Great Aunt Bea- she is everyone’s Aunt Bea. Moved in with my parents when my brother was young, he had asthma and breathing problems (stopped breathing as a baby), so she moved in with my parents and was there to help watch us when my parents worked. She still lives with my parents and has helped with mine and my brother and sisters kids now. She adores my boys -especially Jack (he was the first born- out of my siblings and cousins and everyone), and is excited to see their reaction when they meet Mickey and see the BIG castle. Has been to WDW once also- she went with my Mom, excited to see all it has become and just be in the "Magic" that is Disney. All time favorite Disney movie- “Lady and the Tramp.”

Here is Aunt Bea, isn't she the cutest?

Up next…. The when … and the why…

JPFamilyMom
07-09-2009, 07:09 AM
The when… well we are going in March, the plan is to go for 7 to 10 days. It is still undecided exactly when we will leave (Thursday night or sometime Friday), but we will need to arrive in Florida Friday night because I’ll need to pick up the boys running packets (more on this later). Since it is the princess half marathon weekend, I don’t have plans to really start our park visits until Monday, so we will at least stay Monday thru Thursday to get in each park, but there will be discussions on staying longer into the week.

So our tentative dates of stay are March 5th – 11th

I’ve heard March is a great time of year to go weather wise. But I think the time period we are going in crowds are going to be higher, so that has me a little worried with our cast of travelers. I just have to make sure not to over plan for everyone.

The Why… well like any of us needs a why… we are going to see the Mouse, duh. But we are also going for the Princess half marathon weekend, in which I plan to run… gotta stay motivated… and keep on track with my jogs. This is why we are going in March, but the whole trip itself is just because I’ve been waiting to take my 4 yo for a couple years now and because I just LOVE Disney… don’t we all? We wouldn’t be on this board if we didn’t. Also it’s an opportunity to get together with some other family members, so it should be a fun time.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/disneys-princess-half-marathon2-368.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/3343540050_3a951344d8.jpg
Bonus…because the princess marathon weekend falls the beginning of March, we are thinking about celebrating our b-days while we are there. DH and baby DS have b-days in February. DS Jack, my mother, and I all have b-days in March. So we may need to order a cake during our stay….
:cake::cake::cake::cake::cake:
Up next…. Pictures and events from Disneyland trips taken with Jack (the 4 yo)…

Just for entertainment sake, I added this picture of Jack in his Squirt costume (first Halloween)
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/*******quirt.jpg

Our free DVD from Disney arrived and we have been having fun watching both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World parts of it. Preparing for our trip (s):banana:

Also bought some BIG Nemo Pens for our trip…for autographs, not sure when I’ll give them to the boys, they’ll want to use them, they haven’t seen them yet. ($1 section of Target, I love that section they are carrying more and more Disney themed little things)

Tonight Mom and I had a private DVD viewing party: we watched the planning video together after I got baby DS to sleep, that was fun, parts of it just bring tears to my eyes, I can't wait to make my kids dreams come true, also picked up a few more items today for our trip, Joey got a little Nemo notebook to go with the BIG Nemo pens, Jack got Cars pencils, to use on our drive- and at the Disneystore they both got cell phones (Jack got cars, Joey got Einsteins), not for the trip, just for fun

Ok, I wanted to get onto this update because my next planning question needs help and advice from you regular travelers

Jack took his first trip to Disneyland in December 2006, it was our Christmas gift from one of my cousins. On my side of the family trips to Disney is just part of life (we have all been going since we were babies) so he understood how much I wanted to take my little man, and gave us this great gift (my husbands side thinks trips to DL and WDW are a one time thing and couldn’t understand why we were taking him when he was so young and wouldn't remember:confused3). We went the week after Christmas with my cousin; on this trip we only visited Disneyland, not California Adventure. It was also my DH’s first trip to Disneyland. Being that it was Christmas break, the park was very crowded and we waited in long lines as you can imagine, Jack did ok and we made sure to head back to our hotel for a nap.

He hated character interactions and screamed every time except when we met Mickey. Still cries with Santa every time too, including those pictures as well, baby DS also cried with Santa this past year, I’m hoping both will like character interactions on our trip, but won’t push it.

Also wanted to include a few things that I don’t think are at WDW, here is Tom Sawyer Island:

Here is Mickey climbing the Matterhorn and the Matterhorn by itself (growing up whoever spotted the matterhorn first on our way to DL got a quarter- would a quarter still work today:rotfl:).

And then here is the last trip I took with DS to DL in Nov 2007, we went to California for another wedding, I was pregnant with baby DS, this is the only picture I could find for now (DS didn’t cry with any of the characters this trip but wanted to be in my arms):

Will try and find more from DL and our honeymoon in WDW (all our pictures are still in storage from the move).

Your Aunt Bea is way too cute. I want an Aunt Bea! :lmao: Your pictures are great and I think you have the right attitude about the character greets. Keep trying but don't push. :thumbsup2

My daughter has never had an issue with Disney characters but I have plenty of crying Santa pictures when she was younger. :rotfl: When my DS4 is nervous about a character, we find standing to the side and watching for a bit helps him see its OK and then if he's still nervous, he stays in DH's arms. The only one he hasn't quite gotten comfortable around is the Beast.

Love the Squirt and Dash pictures!!

You mean you love the pictures where he is actually smiling :rotfl2: yeah his pictures are so cute when he smiles

Aunt Bea will be your Aunt Bea too, she is everyone's Aunt Bea, if she met you she would tell you to call her Aunt Bea:cutie:

Isn't that funny about Santa, I've heard that from others that their kid cry with Santa but not with characters...so one can hope:upsidedow

Where should we stay? This is where your help comes in.....and what I'm hoping to figure out by the end of July so when "official package rates" come out in August I'll be ready to "officially" book everything.

I had been waiting for the list of “special hotels” for princess marathon weekend to be released. They were suppose to be released in June, but didn’t get released until recently. We could really stay in any resort we want, but these “special hotels” have special buses for the ½ marathon weekend events.

I was originally planning AS Movies because of the fun characters around the resort (mainly Woody and Buzz:thumbsup2). But then thinking about buses to the parks I was thinking this would just not do and was leaning toward Pop (which is not on the list:confused3), as I have heard many good things about this resort and know they have their own buses where the All Star resorts share buses. Now really I would like to stay at POFQ, but would rather have the money for spending on the extras.

So all the All Star resorts ($110/night) and both POFQ and POR ($160/night) are on the list for the weekend. Now to choose; I ran the numbers several different ways, I ended up with seven different pricing scenarios- some leaving us only at AS Movies, some leaving us strictly at POFQ and several doing split stays between the two resorts.

I like the AS Movies because of the fun décor which having two kids under five is very appealing, plus it is a value resort which is nice for extra spending in other places. My Jack would especially get a kick out of the Woody and Buzz buildings if we could get a room there. He loved seeing the pictures on the computer and squealed with delight when he saw the huge replicas.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/dscn2848.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/DW_Movies_AndysRoom300.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/dscn2837.jpg
POFQ is appealing because of the water slide, it’s a smaller resort, beignets, just gorgeous atmosphere, oh yeah did I mention the beignets. Staying here would be more for me, though also keeping Jack in mind I think he would do well with it being a more intimate setting.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/ORL_DPOF-exter-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/frenchquarterpool.jpg
This brought us to the idea of the split stay- Friday thru Sunday of our stay we really don’t plan on visiting the parks due to the ½ marathon events and other things we want to do. We would do a resort only reservation for two or three nights. This would give us time to enjoy the resort surroundings, the water slide for Jack if he is up for it, and a more relaxing start to our vacation.
Then we would move into the AS Movies with our five day park tickets and dining plan (still another ?). And DH and I discussed that we are driving on this trip so if buses did become an issue we will have our van. And this would allow the boys some time in this “fun” themed resort and we would be spending most of our day in the parks. I think the photo opportunities around this resort would be fun too.

Here are a few of the scenarios that we narrowed it down to:
*Scenario 1
2 nights in POFQ
6 nights in ASM
5 day base ticket
6 night dining

**Scenario 2
3 nights in POFQ
5 nights in ASM
5 day base ticket
5 night dining

*This option puts us in the ASMovies on Sunday which would allow us to wake up and head straight to the parks on Monday morning
**This gives us more time to explore POFQ and POR
***Both these two options would leave us with two or three days of meals out of pocket, which we may bring some food since we will have a fridge and micro in POFQ (correct me if this is incorrect, but I think it’s included). And also do CS and maybe a non-dining plan restaurant in DTD or at a resort.

Scenario 3
8 nights ASM
5 day base ticket
8 night dining

****This option leaves us in one resort, but may give us more dining credits than we would use, though if we get them we’ll find a way to use them.

I tried to find the rates for the dining plan, does anyone know the rate per chid and per adult, it is per night of stay not per day, right?

Up next …. food issues, dining plan, and restaurant choices…. (this will be in a week or so after we get an idea of what we want to do for hotel)

Love that you have been to Disneyland I would love to go there someday!!!!!

You would really enjoy a trip to Disneyland, I think you were the one that said you might move to Texas? or was that someone else. A move to Texas would need a vacation in DL :lmao:

and I don't remember the entrance to HM in WDW, but the one in DL is really neat

Mickey_Mom
07-11-2009, 12:04 PM
 I think the move to Texas may have been me. MinnieNurse and I were considering a Wife Swap! :lmao:

Our family has stayed at Pop, ASMovies and POR. We loved all of them for different reasons. We spent an entire day swimming at POR and definately loved the slide a lot. We didn't see a lot of ASMovies because we were too busy in the parks :sad2: but the Fantasia pool was fun too.

I've never been a fan of moving to different resorts during stays as I'd rather be settled on the first day and not have to pack and unpack, but it sounds like it would work for you on your trip. I can't remember for sure, but I think you're right about the dining, its per night of your stay.

IMO, go with scenerios 1 or 2 with a lean towards 2 so it gives you a bit more time in POFQ and you don't feel like you're packing up already to leave when you just got there!

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your input and suggestion. I was leaning towards #2, still am- though now am considering adding the dining to the first part of our trip instead of the last part. Only problem with this is then we would have to add one day tickets to our first three nights and then do brand new tickets for the other stay as well.

New idea got put on the table last night though. Since Mom is considering a trip during Star Wars weekends next year, she may upgrade to an AP, which has me thinking about upgrading me and DS to AP's as well:yay: Just need to convince DH :confused3, first to let me take the boys on a trip or two w/out him :scared1: and to pay the extra money to upgrade when we get there:rolleyes1. So we'll see how that goes and how I will persuade him. With this plan then we would just do ASMovies for the whole trip. How does that work? If I book 5 day tickets does the amount I paid for the 5 days get credited toward the AP?

I need to figure this out soon though, have to be ready to book our room next month:upsidedow

On another note I have figured out what the theme and general design of our countdown calendar will be and I have begun cutting out mickey heads (I think I have 20 cut and I'm doing 100 days). I had a brilliant idea to have a special day for the kiddos 100 days before our trip (DH has the day off, it is the day before Thanksgiving and I found some cute artwork for 100 days out, and there is a lot we can do for a fun family day), and that would be the reveal of our countdown calendar.

On another note, this Saturday there is a super sleuths event at the Disney Store that we plan to attend.:woohoo:

Please please please someone correct me if I'm wrong on this, (read I'm not positively sure) but I believe yes, the $ amount you paid for the 5 days gets credited towards the AP and I'm pretty sure I've read suggestions here and there that say to do the upgrade itself on the fifth day. It gives you the five as extra days. I THINK!

100 day countdown! You are brave! Then again, I have had May, June, July and August on my fridge to countdown but all we're doing is X-ing off the days :rotfl: .

Have any of you ever sat and traced 50 Mickey heads and then cut them out? I don't know how many I've done today, but man does my hand hurt....

I still have 25 to go to get to my 100... I'll save those to do for next week

Came up with another idea for our countdown, I'm going to write something on each head... like 100 days until Dole Whip, 99 days until Chef Mickeys, 98 days until Toy Story Mania.... you get the idea. That should keep me busy until we actually get to our 100 day countdown:lmao:

Dining coming up next... I think I'll post that tomorrow, got in touch with the special diets dining person, and she sent me a bunch of paperwork to look over, which has restaurant suggestions for people with special dietary needs

and tomorrow is our super sleuth event at the Disney Store :banana:

So I think I'll need help coming up things to write on our 100 mickey heads, as I only came up with 56, but I have LOTS of time to think about it...

We went to the Super Sleuth event at our Disney Store today, and we got there at 10am even though it didn't start until 11am. I wanted to beat the rush :lmao: Well after we walked around the store looking at all the new back to school items and clearance and toys, I figured I should take Jack to the bathroom before it was time to start. There was no one else there for the sleuth yet either. We came back to the store five minutes to 11am and still no one for the event, so we were the first sleuth :banana:

It was really cute and the woman that helped us was great with Jack. They had to go around the store looking for honey pots and then draw a picture on their paper of what was in the honeypot. She even helped him draw the last pictures since he said "I can't do it, I can't do it"

Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of him going around the store and finding the honey pots :confused3 I realized this after we went up to pay for the new sunglasses they got (they were on sale for like $1.50 or something like that). After I realized I had a camera I asked Jack if I could take a picture of him with his mask and a honey pot and he said, "no, no pictures me"

So here is what pictures I did take:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture176.jpg riding the little train in our mall
The new sunglasses-Joey got Tigger and Jack got Wall-E (notice the mask on Jacks head):
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture180.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture182.jpg
And all his sleuth stuff:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture187.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture188.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture190.jpg
The items where 1. magnifying glass, 2. the mask 3. flashlight (which went missing before we got to do it, and we were first:confused3) 4. the flag
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture189.jpg
It was organized really well, and we were pleased with the fun, just wish someone would've dressed as a character:rolleyes1 I figured they wouldn't, but had hoped to get a glimpse into what character interactions would be like

ok... sometime today I'll post our dining thoughts at this point....

Food issues, dining plan, and restaurant choices….

To get the dining plan or not to get the dining plan, that is the question? We had the dining plan on our honeymoon and loved not having to worry about taking money out of our spending cash for food, it was already paid up front and we just selected where we went to eat. I think it is a savings depending on where you eat. Plus we want to do Character meals (hoping that is a good thing and that the boys won’t cry)- so if that is the case I know from reading other PTR’s and TR’s that the dining plan is definitely worth it in that case. So we are leaning toward the dining plan.

Food issues: ok so we are a pretty picky family:confused3, and prefer pretty bland ho hum “normal” foods. We will be trying to pick restaurants that are fun and interesting but that will have foods that aren’t too adventurous for us.

Other food issues of course involve DS Jack, we haven’t found him a specialist out here yet, but in NC he was going to see a specialist to run tests on him to see if any of his ASD symptoms could be food related as I had read up on how some foods could affect the brain. Currently he is nitrate free and dye free and he has a Omega 3 supplement he takes, so nothing too crazy, but don’t want food items that he can’t have to be present in places where we dine (for example, don’t want to go anywhere near a place with hot dogs on the menu- we buy him special hot dogs at home, but normal hot dogs just do not do well in his system).

So here are our restaurant choices, of course we will have to cut down the list, but here is everywhere we are interested in eating on this trip or on future trips:

Chef Mickeys – for the characters
Boma –because I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it
Mickey’s Backyard BBQ- just looks like fun
Trails End- for Dad
1900 Park Fare- character interactions
Ohana’s Best Friends Breakfast- characters and the yummy juice I’ve heard about
Whispering Canyon Café- for fun times
Beach Club Breakfast at Cape May Café-character interactions
Pinocchio Village Haus- because we like the one in DL
Crystal Palace- for the characters, and we liked the food on our honeymoon
Coral Reef Restaurant- for the atmosphere
Biergarten- not sure any of us would eat, this is a big ? but I love how fun it looks
Toy Story pizza planet- for the atmosphere
Hollywood & Vine Play ‘n Dine- for the characters
Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant- we liked it on our honeymoon
Flame Tree BBQ- yummy
Donalds Safari Breakfast- characters and again heard it’s really yummy juice
Yak n Yeti CS- the take out menu looks like foods we eat
Cap’N Jack’s- because of the name, ;-)

Also interested in the new Dinosaur restaurant in DTD- for fun

Open for suggestions, comments, critiques of restaurants, etc.
Please tell me your favorite place and include a fun photo from that restaurant.:)

***We have decided that we will go to the “Spirit of Aloha” dinner show, that is a Must Must Must. We will celebrate baby DS’s birthday that night – he is such an Aloha baby, LOVES all Hawaiian music he’s heard so far, and loves to do the pearly shells dance:yay::woohoo: I'm excited about this meal because we lived in Hawaii for a couple years when I was little. Dad (Grandpa) is excited for the unlimited adult beverages available with this dinner show:rolleyes1

*****Got info from special dietary department at WDW, but still sorting through all the paperwork, I wrote this before getting that.

I've been trying to figure out how to put the Mickey heads on the poster (glue, tape, etc) never thought about character behind the mickey heads, I was going to buy stickers to cross off each ear as we went. The boys are very aware of all Disney characters...as we walked around the Disney store yesterday, the employees were very impressed with Jacks knowledge of all the names of the characters:rolleyes1 even the not so familiar ones

if I can work the characters behind the ears, that could be fun and prettier than the messy way I had originally planned.

Those seem like great choices and many of the ones we have picked too. We're also gonna go with the dining plan. There's something really nice about having all your meals already paid for and not having to figure out how much meal costs are going to be.

We love to go to restaurants and the kids are all accustomed to it. For us, the restaurant time will be as much a part of the experience as the parks. I've seen some disers talk about how they don't want to go to the restaurants because it takes too long and uses up their park-time. But for us, that's part of the magic too. So the dining plan is definitely for us. The more TS's the better. How can you not want to when you see all those delicious food pics everyone posts!!

We are definitely gonna do Chef Mickey's several times, CRT ( we have 2 girls), Spirit of Aloha looks so good, heard great things about O'Hana's. Let's see, Whispering Canyon is a must, especially after seeing Team Renfroe's pics of the all-you-care-to-enjoy BBQ skillet. OMG. Coral Reef looks fantastic. Heard really good raves about Boma's too. 1900 Park Fare is on our list. Oh yeah so is the Grand Floridian Cafe, although I have only added that because of the eggs benedict I saw on somone's dining report. We may not end up going there. We have more but that's all I remember for now. So much to choose from!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Oct013.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Oct016.jpg

I'm using smaller Mickey heads this time, I got some mickey head paint samples from Home Depot and cut those out, then traced them onto paper and other paint samples I had (I use to go to school for interior design, so I had a small box of paint samples, carpet samples, etc) I'm like 20 short, so a trip to another paint store may be in order :rolleyes1

So far I made a BIG mickey head in the middle of a white poster board, and I want to color it black and then put all the mickey heads inside it (for the one side), the other side I'll just do rows.

***update***Here is what I got done during nap today (50 heads with 50 days of things to look forward to, 1 extra head in the middle for Here we come, I realized I'm going to need a lot of black markers)

Thanks for coming over to my PTR too. Guess we can help each other out since we are both traveling with young kids. I agree that the dining is part of the whole experience, especially the character meals, they come to you while you eat:cool1: doesn't get any better (sure beats standing in line under a hot sun ;) -though if we have good luck with characters we'll do both:lmao:)

Thanks Tracy and Steph, it'll be a work in progress for another month I'm guessing, and won't reveal it to the kids until November:lmao: I have a long way to go.

I'm thinking about posting all my ideas for the countdown so you all can help me come up with the last twenty or so:rolleyes1

Still anxiously awaiting some people to post pictures of their favorite restaurants:rolleyes1:)

Unfortunately it was for North Carolina where we just moved from. It looks like a great Disney on Ice, it's the Celebrations one. The one that is showing here where we moved is the one we saw last year in NC :confused3 and with these kind of shows DS4 can't sit through them and his senses go nuts, so we are probably going to pass, but it's not completely off the table yet

That does look like a great Disney on Ice. If you decide to try it again I hope it works out for you. Have you tried talking with the event organizers? Maybe they have recommended seating or special arrangements they could make?

I have pictures of places we've dined at, but you may have already seen them on my PTR :goodvibes They're mostly my family at these places as opposed to seeing the restaurants too, but oh well.

Our favs:
Chef Mickey's -- so much fun twirling the napkins and we still marvel at the monorail coming thru!
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu341/Mickey_Mom_photos/WDW082.jpg

Ohana's breakfast with Lilo & Stitch -- can't say enough about this place... atmosphere, food, characters, parade, juice
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu341/Mickey_Mom_photos/ohanaparade.jpg

Coral Reef -- no characters but you'll love the huge aquariums and trying to spot Nemo and Dory and Bruce!
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu341/Mickey_Mom_photos/DSCF6201.jpg

Crystal Palace -- Pooh, Piglet, Eyeore, & Tigger in a beautiful restaurant with a scrumptious buffet and fun fun parade!
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu341/Mickey_Mom_photos/2008_0825Disney40065.jpghttp://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu341/Mickey_Mom_photos/2008_0825Disney40067.jpg

Cape May -- beach themed sand fun with Mickey! We've gone for breakfast twice and enjoyed it.
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu341/Mickey_Mom_photos/2008_0825Disney40086.jpg

Play 'n Dine at Hollywood & Vine -- fun stuff with Little Einsteins. Here's more of an atmosphere type shot, the kids can dance with the characters in the middle of the restaurant.
http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu341/Mickey_Mom_photos/DSCF6291.jpg

Mickey's Backyard BBQ was fun but for our night it was very crowded and you literally had to push your way in to see the characters which I would normally hate to do, but we otherwise wouldn't have been able to interact with them at all. We're going to a few new places this upcoming trip and I can let you know how they were too. Sci Fi, Teppan Edo and Planet Hollywood. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the pictures of the dining places, I think we are leaning toward a lilo breakfast now too- I just worry about bacon and sausage, which DS4 can't have

Found out the ice show is going to be where the head coach's family my husband coaches with owns a box there, and if no one is using it we can maybe see it from the private box if it's available for this show, so that could be helpful, waiting to see if the dates and everything works out

Things outside the Disney parks that we want to do…

Ok, on this trip we are not getting the water park and more option, because I’m not a big fan of water parks, I think the kids are too young for that (we have the pool at the resort, which will make them happy), Jack isn’t that adventurous and doesn’t like getting his head wet (he is getting better at this recently), there will be future trips for water park fun.

However on this trip we do want to take advantage of some things that WDW does have to offer.:thumbsup2

We will definitely take the time to explore DTD this time. I heard there are some fun things for the kids there (water feature?) and I’ve seen really cute photo ops from TR’s. Please share a fun tip for DTD and a favorite photo.

Also as previously said, my Dad isn’t a big fan of large crowds and lines so on one of the marathon weekend days we do plan to go spend a good part of our day in the Fort Wilderness area. One plan is to go fishing or at least let my Dad go fishing, probably with Jack.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/fish.jpg
Maybe let the kids do the pony rides or take a wagon ride as a family. Also interested in going to the campfire sing-along http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/campfire.jpgand or seeing the electrical water pageant.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/poly_beach_ewp_small.jpg (pictures found on google)

Please post pictures or offer any tips on these fun extra things…

While dining at other resorts will try and take some time to explore the resort on the way in or out, please offer any tips or interesting places we might want to stop in certain resorts while we dine.

Anything I’m missing????

Ok, and this isn’t really Disney related, but it’s related to our trip…. We (rather I) have decided we are taking a day out of our week to go to….

in the words of Jack.... "Wait for it

wait for it"

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/islands_of_adventure.jpg

So we can see…http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/spider-man-at-the-character.jpg

Ok that’s all for now I guess, still doing fuzzy Disney math to figure out where we are staying and waiting for the release of 2010 package info….

Ok, so there have been several new developments today after my posting earlier...

First we found out that our DS4 could in fact attend pre-k this year because of his special needs. I was clicking on the pre-k link getting info and not the exceptional child link- so I'm going to be kicking my butt into gear to see about getting him in school for this school year, though he probably won't be able to start on the first day because we moved from another state and we have to get his shot records and some other stuff done in TN before he can start. This is Disney related I promise....
It is related in that my DH's breaks would be the week before :scared1:and the week :eek:after my DS's if we went the public school route for this school year. I was ready to homeschool him this year, but with his special needs it really is better for him to be in a school setting. So anyhow, our trip was being scheduled around DH's schedule, but now I need to consider DS's schedule :confused3

So that is issue #1 which I have come up with a solution to, but requires me to do more fuzzy math, head spinning:rolleyes1

Ok, issue #2 came about right before dinner when I got a phone call from a place I applied at over a month ago, and they want me to come in and interview on Wednesday. So not letting that kink the plans yet, but realizing that if I got a job, I will also have to add in my needing time off and my schedule:rolleyes: but on the plus side of this job, that means more money for my happiest place on earth:banana::cool1::dance3:

so fingers crossed for the job, and we won't find out about the school stuff for a few weeks...

Mom and I have decided now after a little more research that we are most definitely doing a day at IOA, they have a character breakfast there that has spiderman, who I have been told spends A LOT of time interacting with the kids. But I do need to get things geling more after we figure out everyone's schedule as mom got an interview today:woohoo:, waiting to hear how it went

no "real" updates, rather nothing solid, but this trip may turn into two trips- well at least for me :rotfl:

I guess I didn't get the job at the school, cause I didn't get a call yesterday:sad2: But I'm staying positive about the Jason's Deli one which I should hear back from next week.

So here is the scoop, if we can't get DH and DS's schedules to gel then I may go for Princess half marathon weekend with my Mom (which would be fun cause then I can try some restaurants I'm not comfortable taking my boys to-like Jiko) and then do our family trip in June when both of them are done with school (but oh the heat:scared1:). But since I'm not working in a school we don't have a third crazy break schedule to come into play and still waiting to see what Jacks school schedule will be if we can get all the paperwork settled for him to start this fall.

And there is still the possibility of an October trip with me, the boys, and my Mom for MNSSHP. :cheer2:

Plus still waiting on the 2010 rates to be released, I don't like waiting, generally I'm a patient person but when it comes to Disney :rolleyes1

Today we embarked on a new kind of Disney adventure, a free one, previewing the upcoming movie "A Christmas Carol" Yep we got to experience the Train Tour :cool1::cool1:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture199.jpg
We took like 50 pictures, I'm not going to share them all, cause if you're going I wouldn't want to give it all away, but you can pm me for more pictures if you want.
Here we are with one of the costumes on display:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture205.jpg
Jack was loving this scene from the movie, these were moving picture images, he just kept looking at this one, couldn't be bothered with the other 10 or 20 other images in the room, and didn't want to leave...
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture207.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture209.jpg
There were a lot of other neat things to see on the train, like models, masks, interactive things, etc. But you'll have to take the train tour to see them :lmao:
Here we are experiencing Christmas in August at the end of the train:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture221.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture223.jpg
Snow came out of these things:

And they had live carolers
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture225.jpg
Then we went into a blow up tent to watch a 3D sneak preview of scenes from the movie never seen before, very cool.
Then we took some pictures on the way out:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture227.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture229.jpg
Then we took pictures of some of the goodies they got, and they got tattoos on their hands too:

next some updates on our plans though I think my new tickers give it all away...

Looking over schedules, my DH and I have officially decided it isn't worth the stress to go with the kids in March- so the boys will have to wait until June for their first trip to Walt Disney World
We know it will be hot, we know it could be more crowded, the cost actually isn't much more, and we won't be stressed about anyone missing work or school, so we can enjoy ourselves and relax

I am still planning on going in March, that trip my Mom and I will take a trip without kids and dine in restaurants we wouldn't otherwise dine in with my two boys. I'll run the Princess 1/2 marathon, and experience a first trip away from my children :guilty::sad1::scratchin mixed emotions on that one, though I'll get to stay at POR :woohoo::yay::cool1:

Remember way back in the very first post- I think, how I mentioned there was a wedding in Anaheim this December? Well I think we have decided that I will probably go alone with the baby on that trip if we can work it out financially. I felt a little guilty at first not taking my Jack, but he and I did a solo trip one year to Disneyland, so it's only fair that Joey and I get to take one too

Ok, well that is all for now, have to start laying out the whole budget, and figuring schedules, etc. Oh and now that we are getting settled in our new State things are picking up in our "regular" lives- I'll be very busy the next few weekends :cheer2:

Tracy, the train was soooo much fun.
It was a very hard decision to change our family trip to June, but it was necessary, hard to make the grown up decision.

So does anyone know the answer to this question, semi un-disney related, but related to our trip to California/Disneyland in December.
We are considering getting AAA, when you rent a car does AAA cover you if there is an accident or do you still need to get the rental car coverage? Not cause I plan on being in any accidents, but you just never know, especially in California, no offense to Californians (I was born and raised there).

You only have four more days Tracy :yay::dance3::woohoo: Will have to go dance on your PTR too ;)

I just opened up a Lovely email from Disney.:thumbsup2

And it contained something I never thought I'd see.....

wait for it......

wait for it.....

a PIN code, my first ever PIN :yay::woohoo::banana::cool1::cheer2:
To say I'm happy is an understatement. It's not for WDW though, it's for DL, but I figure if I'm getting one then there will be more to come in the future. Plus, this PIN just happens to fall into my travel dates for the upcoming wedding in December :scratchin

I was originally planning at staying at the howards Johnsons, for safety reasons, there are several hotels I've stayed in before that are perfectly great, short, well long, but short walk across the way to DL and extremely affordable. But DH and I talked, and with me going alone with the baby, he wants me to feel safe, so I was going to spend $111/night to stay at the hojo's..... well this PIN is for Disney Paradise Pier Hotel for $149/night, that is only $35 more a night to stay in the Disney magic. :woohoo:

So whats an extra $100 for safety + Disney property + shorter walk with baby????? Hmmmmm......

Ok, but I'm not the one that will need the talking into it, I'm already sold on the idea, of course. But I had to first convince DH to let me and baby travel solo to Cali and then convince him that I HAD to visit DL while I was there and that I needed to spend $111/night for safety reasons instead of the $50-$60 we usually spend when we go to DL.... now I have to convince him that $149 is a good deal :rolleyes1:lmao:

My Disney fun just keeps getting more and more expensive by the day :rotfl2:

Oh and did I mention I've already decided DS and I need to get the photopass for our two day adventure because I can't take pictures of the two of us:rolleyes1 To me this is a completely logical expense...

Did I mention the whole reason for the trip was a wedding :rotfl:

All December planning will be in RED from this day forward to not confuse anyone.

Thoughts???? Like I don't know your answers

How did I not realize you had started a new PTR? Where have I been? Oh yeah, WDW and Universal.:rotfl: Ok, I'm in now.

I noticed you mentioned T-Rex as a dining option and don't think anyone addressed it yet. I haven't been in it, but understand it can be loud like Rainforest Cafe. Please anyone let me know if I am wrong. Just wanted to point it out because when Jacob was 1 1/2 years old we took him to Rainforest Cafe and every time the storm came in the restaurant, Jacob would climb out of his high chair into my lap. That is the only place he ever did that. He is fine there now, but it was many years ago.

Hey Melissa, thanks for coming over my way :welcome: I'm slowly gathering my thoughts and figuring out the schedule and budget for the year.

Yes I've leaned toward taking T-Rex off our dining schedule for the noise factor, though I've looked into some noise reducing head phones for Jack. We thought he was doing better with the noise, as things have seemed to bother him less in the past few weeks, but the past couple days the toilet flushing has had him covering his ears and running again :confused3

Could be me back at work again, both kids have been nuts all week.:sad2:

Today I got Jack another spiderman folder, a spiderman pencil case, and Grandma got him the Spiderman movie. He said "mommy I love spiderman" I'm losing my Disney boy I thought  then he said, "oh and I love Wall-E" :) (we just saw Wall-E recently and he has been obsessed with him now)

Joey got two new swim shorts, for next summer: Toy Story and Spiderman

I've made a TON of lists, if you have ever followed an LL PTR you will have already been acquainted with a list taker, well I'm the same and I have about four lists saved to my computer right now for the upcoming trips. However today I'm just posting pictures of recent purchases, most of which are Universal/IOA purchases. :scared1: sorry fellow OCD'ers But my 4 yo is obsessed with Spiderman right now, and the dollar section at Target had Spiderman, no boyish Disney right now- they have HSM and Wizards things right now.

These shorts are for baby DS- one pair for Universal and one pair for WDW
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture258.jpg
Here is the bulk of the Spiderman loot, haven't decided exactly when I'm giving each thing to DS, I know I'm going to save at least one thing for his small gift morning of IOA, the rest will most likely be gifts he earns with his rewards charts or stocking stuffers.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture256.jpg
Here is his new water bottle and sandwhich container, to go in the Spiderman lunchbox that we haven't purchased yet, he did find a backpack he liked a couple weeks ago
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture255.jpg
These were small punching bags, they already opened and have been playing with, I should go back and get a few more if there are any left, since one already broke :confused3 that is the joy of having boys I suppose, they play so rough :lmao: good thing they were only a dollar
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture254.jpg
And though I have always felt very strongly against the play with guns, I did give in and get them these mini water guns, it was two in a pack for a dollar, they shoot like 3 ft and they had a blast outside the past few days with them. So much so I went back and got them iron man ones to be earned later
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture249.jpg
Also went back and got Jack some iron man stickers and things which will go in his treasure chest for good deeds (he has a chart for brushing teeth, and we are adding a prayer chart and a getting dressed chart in the next few weeks- these are tasks he has struggled with) And not to offend anyone with that, I in no way consider prayer a task, but for my Jack who doesn't understand all the time, it is right now a task.

Guess that is all for now, I'll post my lists sometime in the next week after fine tuning them

that's nice

WOW!! Lots of cool changes to your PTR!! Glad you are happy with them! That's what's important!!

We never got to the Christmas Carol Train. After school registration being so exhausting I knew that Claire was going to have to have a nap before The Wiggles show. How long did you have to wait in line? Glad you enjoyed it!

I missed your msg. Yes you have a lot going on, you are a very busy woman I'm learning. :) In a good way. I dropped my Mom and Jack off and drove around looking for parking for about 10-15 min, then waited another 15-30 min to get into the train, then about 10-15 to get into the movie preview. But it was fun.

DL in December when its all decorated for Christmas...does it get any better!! I hope your DH will see the logic in your plan because of course I do and it would only make sense to be closer to DL and have that safety you so desire while you're there!!!!!

I can't wait to hear more about your DL trip!!!

I LOVE DL in Dec. You really need to get yourself to DL Jen, you will really enjoy it I think. I LOVE WDW after my first visit, but there is still something about DL, I guess it being the original park and that being what I grew up with, it just feels like home to me. :)

Your lists look great. Be sure to keep thinking about how hot it will be in June when it comes to Pirate costumes. There was a week this past June that it didn't even cool off at night.

And I thought I would send you this link: o2-Cool water bottles (http://www.o2-cool.com/)

They are bottles you drink out of and also mist. I have a couple and love them. That way I only have one bottle to carry around. The local Targets here sell them. Only problem is the water spout has not come off of both of mine, but saw the website does sell them 3 for $5. I love them enough to order. Now, if they would just figure out how to put a fan on them too.:)

OH MY GOSH, how could I forget Sunscreen?:confused3 Especially with my two little whities, they are pretty fair, not as fair as some, but pretty fair. My Mom thinks I'm over protective, cause I slather sunscreen all over their bodies and then put sun shirts on them when they swim, hats, sunglasses, the works. I just don't want them to get skin cancer, is that so wrong?

Oh Melissa, thanks for that link, those look great. Do they have straps to hold around the neck? We got Jack a spiderman water bottle that goes on his neck and holds a small snack on the bottom. I can always get those water bottles and add stickers or clings or something to make them more appealing to the boys. ;) Yeah the pirate costumes were originally going to be a birthday gift, and we were going to sign Jack up for pirate league and a pirate adventure, but now that we are switching to June, I'm undecided on all that (maybe an Oct visit will be in order, I do want to meet up with you and Di if I can- and of course go to MNSSHP)

oh life keeps getting in my way of DISing :lmao: now that we are getting settled and school has started up again. I'm working p/t, but like every day and then my volunteer work, and Jack starts soccer this week:banana: I'm excited about that but it's one more thing to schedule into our calendar. :rolleyes1 Most of you can relate having kids of your own I know. I just wonder when did life get to be so busy, I don't like the word busy, full, when did life get to be so full?

Hey there! I'm finally catching up.... awesome lists and love the Spidey-tee!

We ended up not using any of the tip envelopes I so studiously finished putting together the afternoon before our trip :headache: - all our gratuities were charged back to our room on our KTTW cards. Why not have one autograph book for both visits? I love looking back through our autographs and just continued on with the same one for this trip too.

They give you the option, you can go either way. When the bill is brought to the table, the server explains if you want to add a gratuity to the card they would re-run the bill with the tip amount added. If you wanted to do the envelopes, you would just sign the bill as it comes without a gratuity and leave the envelope. As it happens for me, I never had the cash on hand to put in the envelopes  so I opted for the convenience of using the KTTW cards.

Thanks for the offer on the shirts. I had a few DISigns made before we went in March. Then I used the transfers and voila! instant Disney shirts! LOL I always check those threads to see if there is something new that I'm interested in.

Hey Jessica,

I followed your link over from KathyRN's PTR...:car:

your little men are adorable...:goodvibes

I'm from outside Philadelphia so I guess the Eagles are my team too...although I don't really know too much about football...:confused3...DH is impressed when I know which teams play what sports...:headache: anyhow...

I love California:cloud9:-we've been there on several family trips-all over between San Francisco to San Diego...we were to DL as well and I absolutely adored it...(some people I knew thought we might be dissapointed because FL is so much bigger-in terms of more parks-but DL has quite a bit packed in to it-I thought that the whole New Orleans Square Area was especially awesome-and it was cool to be in "Walt's park"-there is a sort of charm there and there is something to be said for being able to walk between DL and CA-and I will only ride Soarin at CA now for sentimental reasons...(I want to go back after they've made all the changes to CA and added Radiator Springs-that will rock...:cool1:

I was thinking about your concerns about the loud noises for your son during Wishes (My DS is 7 and has Asperger's) but honestly I probably have more Sensory Issues than he does...:lmao: We just came back and did a Pirates Wishes Cruise so we weren't in the Park but on the water so that deflected noise and also I've read that there are places to view the fireworks from the beaches at the GF and the Poly-so if you went to dinner at one of the restaurants one night-maybe you could go out to the beaches and watch...:yay:

As far as the heat in June...we just came back in August and it was very hot but we managed and you're in Disney...we tend to be at rope drop and then come back to swim in the afternoon...

your countdown calendar is simply darling...:goodvibes

:welcome: Thanks for making your way over to my little PTR.

Thanks for the suggestions on the fireworks, I've been looking into a wagon ride they do with a fireworks viewing, I think it's over in the camping area, and they stream the music in. But still exploring options.

Yeah the heat has DH going back to wanting to go in March, but it will all come down to a decision on Jacks schooling as we are wavering again. Since he is only four, he technically doesn't NEED to be in school this year. But because it takes him longer to catch on to things, we want him in school. If that makes sense. But with the new swine flu scare I'm afraid to put him in school since he catches EVERYTHING. There is just more room for us to plan out our trip properly in June than trying to cram everything in March, though we could always do another trip in October as I'm hoping to sway my DH to allow me and the boys to go to MNSSHP without him :scared1:

Will be happy for all your suggestions. We still don't understand DS's diagnosis, it says High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder on his IEP, but there are parts that said Aspergers????:confused3

A Big part of me going to my cousins wedding was for my Grandma to get to see my baby, they have never met. And the wedding of course was the reason for the DL trip.

Well on Sept 11th, a sad day in history, becomes another sad day for me and my family as well. My Grandma is moving up to Sacramento (she lives in Long Beach right now) and moving into a retirement home.:sad2: She doesn't like traveling and has a hard time with it. So whether she will go to the wedding is up in the air now.

My cousin is having a very small informal wedding. A short no nonsense ceremony (I'm catholic so had a big nearly 2 hr ceremony ;):rotfl:) And they are having a very informal reception at Buca Di Beppo. So he would not be upset in the slightest if I couldn't make it, though I really do want to go since we are very close. But since he is only inviting a hand full of people and trying to keep it intimate I may pass on the wedding and we may be planning a longer trip to California in 2010 to see Grandma in Sacramento then drive down the coast and hit DL and make our way down to San Diego to hit some places down there as well.

I have decided to not make any decisions until October after she is more settled and we can get a feel for how she is doing up there. Please keep her in your thoughts for a safe journey to her new home.

Ok, never mind all that. Was talking with my Mom today, and she said that is silly I should still go. Then I told her I was thinking of not putting Jack in school this year cause of the Swine Flu and how he catches EVERYTHING and how I would have to take him too now. She just looked at me. Later came back and started planning and said she was going too because she could not feel good about me taking both boys alone. And I said I'd be fine, and she said, really with Jack, what if this and that.... so I said I think you just want to go to DL, and she said well of course :lmao::rotfl: So the trip is on, Mom and Jack are coming along now. We are staying at Hojo's and will be stopping in Las Vegas to see my brother and sister and their families, two days at DL/CA, possibly one day at Knotts Berry Farm, and our trip became a week long now. :rotfl2: Aren't Moms funny.

First, OT- Read today that Disney bought Marvel

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Disney-to-buy-comic-book-apf-730717139.html?x=0

To me that is strange, but I'm not gonna lie and say I'm not happy about it, cause now my Spiderman obsessed little boy is part of my Disney family once again :yay::rotfl: It will be interesting to see exactly what Disney does with the purchase and how it affects other theme parks:rolleyes1 and places

Princess half marathon update: I think I have decided not to do the half marathon. With the move and me starting this job I haven't had time to run:sad2::rolleyes1 But I think I might sign up for a local 5k in October in hopes to do the half marathon with DH in January 2011

June 2010 Update: So I made an executive decision and decided to stick with June, it just gives us more wiggle room in the planning, not trying to cram in the travel and vacation into a short week. Other than that no "real" updates

DL December 2009 Update: Well first off I'm 100 days away from departing and heading out west. :dance3::yay::woohoo::cheer2::banana:
Excited, yeah, maybe a little :rolleyes1 I haven't seen my extended family since I was pregnant with Joey, I went for another Cousins wedding November 2007, also the last time I went to DL.

So talked to DH, he was upset I was taking Jack, because he had planned out a fun weekend for the two of them  Then I told him how long we were going and I felt bad cause he was actually:sad2: But glad, cause he really wants me to go, and knows my family needs to get to see the baby.

So here is our tentative travel itinerary:

December 2010 Disneyland/California Adventure Itinerary

I did too! We grew up in Hemet. Do you know where that is? We would drive up there just to get a chicken dinner!! Yummo! I loved the corkscrew and Montezuma's Revenge!

Anyway, I've never been to CA!!! It opened long after I left So. Cal.; when I was still there, I parked my car in the CM parking lot which was exactly where CA stands now- if I'm not mistaken :)

OH MAN, you must be like my long lost sister. My parents lived in Hemet right after my dad retired, before moving to NV, and I lived with them for a semester and went to San Jacinto College for one term. Worked at the Target in Hemet. Big thrill was driving to the mall in Riverside :lmao:

I've only been to CA once, and it was a quick sort of trip (1 day PH to DL/CA when I went for that other wedding), so I'll be looking forward to doing some exploring over there. I don't think the new Cars area will be open when we go, so that is kinda sad, but all the more reason to plan another trip. I have A LOT of family in California, so another trip could be in our future when the boys are a couple years older. Right now my focus is really on WDW though. hehe you know aside from this Dec trip :rotfl:

OMG!! Yes, we could be! I went to MSJC for a semester, too, between Northern Arizona and UC Irvine. (moved back home for a spell). And yes, every day off from school (holidays, weekends, etc..) we'd drive to Riverside for the mall, or for a movie, or to go to Farrells Ice Cream Parlor. Very funny, what teens will do for a kick. So it was either Riverside or San Diego.

I was already gone when Target came in, but the teensy-weensy little mall was there. HA! We called it the "small".

During my 2 quarters and for a summer at UCI, I was a CM at DL, in the Blue Bayou at DL. LOVED IT!

LOVED IT!

Oh man, I have only dined at Blue Bayou once, that is so great that you got to work there. One of my sorority sisters worked on main street. I auditioned at DL several times but never made it all the way through :confused3 Oh well.... I did get to be in two parades though :rotfl: just didn't get paid for it, meaning I wasn't a CM, just a lucky selected person. :)

that's nice

I will come clean and tell you I know absolutely nothing, nada, zitch about DL. Well I know 1 thing... the castle is Princess Aurora's... that's it! But your plan looks good... i think?:confused3

Your December trip sounds lovely...Moms are great-aren't they...:goodvibes

the El Capitan is a lovely theatre-we made it a point to see a film there-is the Christmas Carol showing a tradition they do?

BtW-how long is the drive from Los Vegas to LA...I like to tuck these facts away...;) for future reference-you never know when you might need them...

That is OK, I'll let it slide, you'll just have to read my TR that I've decided to write. I grew up in DL basically, and am just learning about WDW... so there you go :) I think it depends on which half of the states you grow up on.

The El Capitan shows just Disney movies I believe. I'm excited cause they also have a little diner, so we'll eat there, and a gift shop, so I might let the boys pick up a special El Capitan pin while there. The Christmas Carol they are showing is the new one that is being released... the one with Jim Carrey, the one we did the Train Tour for. ;) So no not a tradition I don't believe. It will be my first trip to the theater I think, I may have gone as a child but don't remember :confused3

The drive is only about 4 hrs (we have done it several times), but it depends on whose driving and of course the time of day as if you hit rush hour which isn't such a rush as you near anaheim it can be longer. My cousin can do it in about 3-3 1/2 hrs and we do it in about 5 hrs with a stop or two:rolleyes1
Going to los angeles I would add on another hour or 2 or 3 depending on traffic, :lmao: I've driven from long beach to los angeles and it's taken me an hour and a half before:sad2: gotta love California driving, NOT

Hi Jessica!!! I'm all caught up! I didn't even realize you were going to DL in December--how exciting!! And a pin code--whoo hoo!!! I love your lists--my kind of organization!!

Yes well all my extended family, not all but most, live in California (up to Sacramento and down to Long Beach) and my cousin is getting married so that is the plan.

Today I found out that my Grandma is for sure NOT going to the wedding, and as a result 3 of my aunts aren't going as well. Mom still thinks we should go, but I'm wondering if I should wait until DH has some time and we can do like a week or two in California: drive up the coast to visit Grandma in Sacramento and down to Anaheim for DL/CA and then even further south to San Diego for the stuff down there. I'm still moving forward with my December planning, but going to have a talk with my Dh this week and see what his thoughts are. I know Mom wants to visit my brother and sister in Nevada, but she is already going out next month to see them, and I would rather put the money toward WDW. I want to be at my cousins wedding, but I wouldn't really get to see much family since it seems like really not a lot of people are going. :confused3

I suppose you'll notice a few changes in my signature, well if you are paying attention :lmao: I humor myself, feel free to :confused3 my DH does all the time. Anyhow I have officially canceled the DL trip :sad2: I was sad about it at first, but it was causing me more stress than happiness and taking away from my planning our first trip to the World which I'm much more excited about :woohoo::yay: see happy dancing :dance3:

That decision came about with the official news that Grandma wasn't going and that three of my Aunts were no longer invited and then the decision we made to put Jack in a two day a week pre-k program. So yes, as long as everything falls into place, Jack will be starting pre-k next month, I have to call the director to set everything up. I'll just send a nicer wedding gift, and my cousin is heading this way sometime next year for a church conference.

Talked with DH today to get official dates set for WDW and he has decided the second week in June will be when we go, this way we won't be making any last minute changes if need be. So the plan (he still needs to clear this with the other football coaches) is to leave here on June 6 and arrive in Florida on June 7th :cheer2: I'm ready to go into super planning mode now, plus very excited about the ADR switch back to 180 days out.

My travel agent is at Walt Disney World right now, but looking forward to her return to start getting things set up. :)

I forgot to add that I officially decided on All Star Movies for our resort. This trip is really for the boys, and the Toy Story buildings will really make them happy.

Oh gosh! I too, am a little sad about your cancellation! What a bummer! But, I think for ANY trip, a lot of things needs to fall into place, and they just didn't for this one. Ah well... onto better things. Although I still do love DL, I enjoy WDW much, MUCH more!

So, June. I'm so glad you have your dates pinned down, and you can really start planning. I am really excited that the park hours and ADR stuff is going back to 180 days as well. What a difference it will make!

Anyway, let's get planning, eh?

Sorry about your DL trip and not going to the wedding. :sad2:

But planning for June in WDW should be very exciting!!!!:woohoo:

Never stayed at All-Stars but the boys should love it. The 180 days will work in your favor. You have a few months to plan and get everything set to book those ADR's. I'm not sure where you will find ideas of where to eat though???:rolleyes1

Yep, DL will always be there, think they are trying to expand again, and this way when we do go radiator springs will be open by that time. I figure a year or so we'll plan a trip to go out and see all the family up and down the coast.

I'm super excited to plan for June, woo hoo, got a cute little tink notebook/journal for pre planning and TR journaling while there

I think I might add trying the tonga toast to the list or macadamia nut pancakes or Kona coffee or something, but those are for me so they might be in the next 50, top 50 I want to be pictures of things Jack can relate to. Oh yeah, did I mention I need to find pictures of all those things now :lmao::rotfl2: (yep had some time, so found some of the pictures, still need to think on a few)

oh Wow, HI, thanks for joining :welcome: you'll soon learn I'm pretty indecisive and have changed my mind on several things regarding our trip, :rotfl: though I'm noticing many DISers change their plans, like room upgrades or resort changes, and ADR's, etc. It's all part of planning a GREAT trip I suppose.

In purchasing news: I've purchased some small gifts for the boys to open on mornings before heading to the parks. Love the dollar section at Target. I'll share pictures closer to the trip after I've collected all the little treasures.

I also purchased my first Vera which I had planned to use on our trip, but it's a bit smallish for my taste, might be good for walking around the resort and going out to eat, but I'll need something bigger for a day in the park

And if I read correctly I got married near yours? At hotel coranadi while visiting friends in riverside
We tried to go to the Christmas carol train but the line was 2+ hours by the time we got there.
We gave an iep for speech- while the set up wasn't the most organized (it took 6 months to get her started)- the speech pathologists are wonderful and my dd is learning so much. Hopefully you will have a good experience with yours too
you asked about a aaa car rental- with my regular car insurance I am covered if driving a rental- yours might cover it too?

And if I read correctly I got married near yours? At hotel coranadi while visiting friends in riverside
We tried to go to the Christmas carol train but the line was 2+ hours by the time we got there.
We gave an iep for speech- while the set up wasn't the most organized (it took 6 months to get her started)- the speech pathologists are wonderful and my dd is learning so much. Hopefully you will have a good experience with yours too
you asked about a aaa car rental- with my regular car insurance I am covered if driving a rental- yours might cover it too?

yes, it is quite lengthy process, Jack has been tested twice, and both times it was several months of paperwork, waiting, testing, waiting, more testing, you get the idea. New area so new rules again, still waiting to see how it all pans out.

Yeah my Mom explained to me how car rental insurance works, but we aren't going to California in December anymore, and I believe we are driving to Florida in June. It's just easier to tote all our items.

:welcome: btw

Jessica!

This list is fantanstic!! THere are so many things I want to do that are exactly the same! I'll be dreaming right along with you!

Thank you and very cool. Of course great minds think alike ;)

I got the new 2010 Birnbaum today, and also picked up the Hidden Mickey's book to help with our Hidden Mickey search The new passporter doesn't get released until November, but planning to pre-order it soon.

Long work day tomorrow, must get things ready and head to bed.

I didn't know a new edition of the Passporter was coming out. I've really resisted ordering one at all, but think I will. Another resource to fill the time, and obssess (sp?) over. Is it best to order it directly from their website??

Why do you find it a good thing to have? Would love your thoughts on it!

I don't have one yet, but have heard it is very good, it came highly recommended to me from several DISers and other Disney nuts from other boards. I think because, and correct me if this is wrong someone, but I believe there are places to write notes in the book, and if you get the deluxe edition you can buy just the new information to add to your current one instead of buying a whole book each year. Plus it has special sections I believe with information you don't get in other books like on special needs (which is the main reason I'm getting it). I also just like having other sources to look at when planning.

I am pre-ordering from their site because I have a special discount code coming to me. But if you have a membership to another site it could be just as well I'm sure. I saw this years book at Barnes and noble while there on Tuesday, but just flipped through it really quick as I had Jack with me and he was close to melt down.

It just seems like a very well organized book:thumbsup2

Hmm... I'm really going to have think about getting this one. I'm in the middle of making my own book for notes and important info. I'll need in the parks, so I really don't need another thing to carry around for notes. :confused3

After a long hard week and what was suppose to be Jacks last soccer game (our season got extended to make up for all the lost games due to bad weather), I had decided we would go to Chuck E Cheese's for a night of fun.

Rides were a hit with both kids
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/soccer9-28069.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/soccer9-28071.jpg
Jack even went on a rollercoaster ride simulator, twice:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Games were also a hit

Characters on the other hand, got this reaction
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/soccer9-28072.jpg
Yep, Jack ran the other way, and hid under the table
Joey froze and didn't smile, he didn't run and didn't cry, but he was less than impressed with Chuck and quickly jumped into my arms.

I'm thinking though that Chuck E. is not really familiar to them, and hoping that the sight of Mickey and Pooh will give them big smiles... plus they will each be slightly older when we go in June, so as said before, still hoping for happy experiences, but have decided to only book 2 character meals now

Up next will be the hidden mickeys we plan to find...

Sounds good to limit the character experiences at first.... maybe try booking them towards the latter part of your vacation too? Let them get used to seeing them around the parks first?

Love your second half of your list by the way...

I have the deluxe PassPorter and I love it, it functions not only as a planner, but an organizer as well (there are pockets for each day so you can slip things like tickets and receipts inside.) I also love the colorfl fold-out park maps.

Every year I get the updated filler pages and save the old maps for Billy to play with... they are smaller and sturdier than the Disney park maps.

PassPorter's Open Mouse, the book for special needs, does not have the organizer pockets or the maps in color, but I bought that one too because it has nice chapters on ASD's, ASHD and anxiety issues.

It will be hit-and-miss at Disney I think. Billy was five on his first trip and he was frightened of the non-face characters. He was more comfortable with face characters like the princesses and Aladdin.

Just take it slow... I think character meals are awesome.

Let the character "handler" know about your son's issues and thew will let the character CM know... they are usually careful to be non-threatening with special-needs kids.

HA! Chuck E Cheese is one of my older kids' vague memories from the US. It's been probably 10 or more years since we've been, but I think the noise and games and little show they have really made an impression. I know that the pizza certainly made an impression on me- NOT!! :lmao: More likely the "impression" was on my car seat on the way home! :rotfl2:

I think the characters are well trained in interaction with kids who are easily frightened. Like Kathy says, just let them know, and you should be fine.

Yep, I'm going to try and book Chef Mickey's for our last day, try to start that as a tradition. Then I'm thinking Crystal Palace, sometime in the middle of the week. We'll see... only time will tell right?

Yeah, Jack will be five on this trip, so yep about the same. I hadn't realized when I ordered our passporter (I got the deluxe edition for all the reasons you listed) that the open mouse was separate, so now I have to go back and add that I suppose, because that was my whole reason for getting the passporter-at least that is what I told DH.

Yep, there was a lot going on that night, but Jack had a mellow day and the evening for him went perfect, minus the Chuck E experience. He even said he would want to go again. (We had been before, but it had been awhile, and before there was always something that bothered him). He is doing so much better this year. :)

I finished my first 5K this weekend, my only goal was to finish, now next month I want to beat my time. We had a little scare at the end of the race though, Jack wondered off to look for me, and was lost for about 10 minutes (he didn't know he was lost, no reaction to what we tried to tell him about walking off). And the music at the event was too loud it sent him running when we were trying to eat. So top of my list to order this week are those noise reducing headphones. Which I think will be great for WDW and our "regular" life.

Now for WDW planning:
These are the ones I have picked out of the book "Hidden Mickeys...A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets."

But I will cut the list down before the trip I think, though I have picked ones that don't interfere with our "fun" and the "adventure of a first trip."

Magic Kingdom:

Tomorrowland
*Walk to Tomorrowland and get a Fastpass for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Spot the classic Mickey on the Fastpass machine.
*Search for two classic Mickey's in a star field.
*Tomorrowland Transit Authority: In the last part of the ride, observe the accessories of the woman getting her hair done.

Fantasyland
* Peter Pan's Flight: Just before you get to the entrance queue turnstile, look closely at the bark of the trees facing the loading area to find a classic Hidden Mickey.
*Pooh's Playful Spot: Search for a Mickey made of rocks embedded in the tree
*Pooh's Playful Spot: Find a side profile of Mickey in the bark.

Adventureland:
*Jungle Cruise: Search the side of the river for Donald Duck's face on a native.

Main Street:
* Look around the outside of Crystal Palace restaurant.

Up next...finding Hidden Mickeys in Epcot

HI Jessica!

THis list looks great! Not too many for a first trip. You'll have a great time finding them, and you'll be surprised how many you all find just on your own. Make sure to take pictures!

After I finish my lists of other kinds of hidden gems to look for, I'll start on my list of HMs I want to find.

Did you see my note about starting to think about a meet in Nashville on my PTR? What do you think??

I have to post the Epcot ones sometime today or tomorrow. I've been gathering up homeschooling lesson plans off the internet.

Yes, looking forward to our DISmeet next year in Nashville. I'm 3 hours in the opposite direction like Mary, so Nashville seems like a great meeting spot to me.

So I was in the car with my DH the other day, and I asked if he thinks he could handle the boys for a weekend when they are 6 and 3, and he says... "I can handle them now"... my reaction "oh ok" (my thought...yeah right :rolleyes1), then he asks why, and I say well because I'm not doing the 1/2 marathon in 2010, so I thought I'd take a trip out to do the princess princess: half in 2011... to which he responds...."so what do you mean? you mean you are going without us?":scared1: to which I say well you said we didn't really have a budget to go in 2011 if we did this big trip in 2010... and he says "well we are all going.":rotfl::lmao::banana::cheer2: so I have another trip to plan for :yay:

Yep our plans changed several times- to June and back to March, and now we are set on June. We are going to do March in 2011 assuming the princess half is scheduled again. I still need to get caught up on your TR and PTR, that will happen hopefully tomorrow. :)

in my news: this weekend I plan to firm up our dates and book our package. My parents are looking to buy a trailer and so are planning to stay at the campsite on Disney property, so now my Great Aunt is going to stay with my little family and we will need to get a handicap room for her to have a walk in shower, and to try and get a good location for her to not have to walk too much (though we will have a wheel chair for her). Ok that is all, I still need to post my hidden mickeys for the next park and then I'll let you all know our set dates sometime this weekend too.

Yes temporarily homeschooling, it's harder since I'm also working, so it's a team homeschooling effort. My Mom is doing worksheets with him during the day and letting him continue to do his computer games which have learning in them. Then at night I have expanded on just reading a story, we read the same story all week and do things related to the story, and we added in bible stories and spanish words. The curriculum at the private school we are trying to get him into is bigger than what we have doing.

You should totally train for the princess half for 2011, that would be great to run together :cheer2:or collapse together :rotfl: Either way it would be fun

Hey all we are booked, I'm so excited, we decided on:

Me, DH, Jack, Joey, and my Great Aunt Bea will be staying at All Star Movies (I know a lot of people don't like the All Stars, but we are so excited about the possibility of a Buzz & Woody room). We requested a handicap accessible room with walk in shower and bench for my Aunt.

We are staying Saturday June 5- Saturday June 12. And we will be on the quick service dining plan, but we are planning a few table service meals that we will pay out of pocket. With the moods of my boys and their reactions to characters recently we decided that this will be the best dining situation for us this first trip. Plus we will be bringing many food items for Jack and his special diet. And we are getting 7 day base tickets.

My Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother in Law, and Niece will be staying at the campsite in the trailer they are planning to purchase. They are staying in a preferred spot with full hook up. They will also be on the quick service dining plan and are getting 7 day base tickets. They are however staying Friday June 4- Saturday June 12. And also plan on at least one table service meal.

Ok now for you mathematicians or just you people that pay close attention to details, yes you counted correctly and we have once again become a Grand Gathering. My sister and her little family are not 100% for going, but the chances are pretty high. So we are planning for the ten of us.

That is about all I have for you, still working on my hidden mickey quest updates and time is slipping away from me, I feel like I have a lot of time but also feel like I don't have so much time to decide on those table service ADR's. So I'll be working on those in the next couple weeks as well.

Hi Jessica - I've only read through 5 pages so far, but wanted to say Hi and let you know I'll be following along. I'm also a mom of 2 boys - my older DS9 was diagnosed with autism (PDD) when he was 2. DS6 may or may not have Asperger's - nobody wants to commit! :rolleyes1

On our first two Disney trips with DS9 we were dealing with multiple food intolerances and Disney did an amazing job accomodating his dietary needs. It's an amazing place for special kids - that's why we keep going back! :thumbsup2

I had wanted to camp out at the campsite, so glad my parents are, I do know fishing is on our to do list, as it always was, so now we'll have to see what else we do, and yes there will be many times that we are not all together. I made that very clear even when planning to only go with my parents.

:thumbsup2

I can't wait to read more as your plans continue to come together. :goodvibes
:welcome: Glad you came over, I can use all the tips I can get.

All caught up!! Glad to hear you finally booked! :cool1:

Driving or flying? You mentioned flying somewhere along the way, but that may have just been for the CA trip?? Anyway - We brought a lot of food with us for DS9 on two of our trips - which was tricky post 9/11. But we did manage to be able to bring a cooler full of food on the plane with us so just let me know if you need any advice on flying with food.

We are driving, it's about 13 hours I believe, so we do plan to stay over somewhere on the way down and back. But we are taking the backseat out of our van to take our double jogger stroller, food, toys, etc to keep them entertained on the way down, and while we are there. I tend to over pack so we will probably use up the whole backseat, hope we have room for whatever decides to come home with us. :rotfl2: As I'm sure we will bring some friends (mainly Pooh and Mickey) home with us.

Yay, you're booked! Verrry exciting! ASMovies was a lot of fun, the boys will love it! Can't wait to hear more about the camp site, that sounds like quite the adventure itself.

:woohoo: You're booked!

We are very excited, I really hope we get a Buzz and Woody room.

Hey all, I have been such a bad DISer lately. Life has just been so hectic. And we unfortunately spent Thanksgiving break all sick. I just feel so blessed that we got to spend it together. But four days sick in bed was just too much for me.

Anyhow, can you believe I'm approaching my 180 day mark to book dining :scared1::cool1: It felt like it was ages away and now it's only one week away. I need to get this together by next week.

We will only be on the quick service dining plan so we will be paying out of pocket for these meals. So let me know what you all think about our selections and times.

Here they are:
June 5th: Chef Mickeys 5pm (me,DH,DS4, DS1, Mom,Dad, aunt, Sister, brother in law, niece)

June 7th: Kona Breakfast (what are the breakfast hours?) Me, Mom, Aunt, DS1

June 8th: (this is my tentative Universal day)- I'm thinking a late dinner at Whispering canyon cafe, for me, DH, DS4, DS1 - but I'm trying to decide what time that should be, I don't want it to be too late, but I also want to allow us enough time to explore IOA

June 9th: Crystal Palace (before park opens) me, DH, DS4, DS1

June 10th: Tea at Grand Floridian me, Mom, Aunt, Sister

Opinions and suggestions welcome.

I'm hoping to spend the rest of this week catching up on all the Ptr's and TR's I've been neglecting, which is all of the ones I'm subscribed to. :sad1: Sorry everyone, I promise to get caught up asap.

Hey Jessica!! I was getting worried too! It's not like you to be MIA like that after being so regualar over on mine!

I'm so sorry you were so sick! That stinks!

I know when I"m gone for a few days, I feel really, really behind. So we understand it'll take time to catch up.

Welcome back!

Hi there! Time sure flies doesn't it? I like your choices, especially CP before the park opens, and I've heard good things about both Kona and WCC.

I'm sorry you've all been sick.... that's crappy. :( Have fun catching up!

that's nice

CMs is really fun. I think dinner is better than breakfast here

Kona Cafe is my favorite breakfast in all of WDW. I think breakfast is 7:30-11:30.

CP breakfast is fun. You have to try the puffed french toast... it is sooo good!!

Welcome back to the DIS. I took a little hiatus recently too. It takes a little while to get into the swing of things.:goodvibes

Saturday June 12th-
Mystery day, I'll let the boys (mainly Jack) decide where to go this last day
Then we'll head home somewhere between lunch and dinner and stay at another hotel half way between FL and TN

So I'm going to have to cancel WCC, which might be not such a bad thing, I've been worried about the noise level and excitement in there.

Yes we are on the Counter service dining plan, so all table service meals will be out of pocket. Also looks like I'll be canceling the tea, which I was looking forward to, but that's just a reason to go back, right?

I know my boys don't do that well at sit down restaurants, so it will be good to have a more flexible schedule this time, we have the rest of their lives to try out all the restaurants...a little at a time if I have to ;)

Glad to see that you're officially booked! That makes it more real doesn't it?! Good luck getting your ADRs.

Hi, I just read through your whole pre trip report! Your boys are adorable! We took our first trip to Disney World this past May and stayed at the All Star Movies in the toy story building. We love Toy Story and every morning we came out of our room to the giant buzz and woody. Ahh, what a sight!!! The rooms are awesome with Toy story blankets and toy story wall borders, it's just so awesome!! The toy story building is preferred view too, so nice and close to food court and pool!!! Your boys will LOVE it!!!

Yay for getting book ,I'll be doing that soon, we're going back for trip number 2 in September!! This time staying at CBR:cloud9:

I love your plan to keep the last day open. With all the stuff being planned by others, Jack my really enjoy picking the thing he loved best and wants to go back to. I agree about WCC. It may be to noisy and chaotic for your guys.

Anyway, have a wonderful Christmas :)

Welcome, thanks for joining. I am not switching to the gift card option, it's the same amount of money off my trip with the pin as the gift cards value, and I don't think it applies to my dates. I'm still hoping for another deal to come along though.

DL is great. I'm hoping for maybe next fall or winter, so I can visit my Grandma. But we'll have to see, it's more money for me to get out there because of airfare.

I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas, Jessica!! :santa:

My 2010 Deluxe Passporter arrived today :cool1: what a great way to ring in my New Year :goodvibes

So I am canceling WCC, the tea, and now maybe Kona. Our quick service plan includes a counter service at the Poly that has the Tonga toast which was my whole reason for dining at Kona. So then everyone can tag along if they want to or we can get them food and bring it with us.

But I did make a ressie for the character breakfast at IOA, so we have 3 character meals (2 at Disney and 1 at IOA). And that is about it for reservations, except my Mom, Sister, and Niece will be dining in the castle with the Princesses one day.

Hope you all have a safe and fun New Years.

Hi Jessica - Happy New Year to you and your family! I fell behind again... but it looks like I didn't miss much. Sorry it's because you've been sick. We've had a bit of that here too - mostly DH, but I think spending this past week home being lazy has really helped all of us. Usually down time isn't so good for my boys, but for some reason we've all done really well with it! :thumbsup2

Your plans look great!! Enjoy your new passporter!! I have the spiral bound passporter as well as the Open Mouse book - which is great - if you haven't already read it you should! Lots of great info on dealing with disabilities at WDW as well as food allergies.

Hey everyone sorry I've been so MIA with our illnesses but I've also avoided the DIS the past couple weeks because I've been so depressed. We are having to cancel our trip.

My boys both need some medical procedures that will be taking up all our Disney money and time. So we will have to hope and plan for another time. It was a very hard decision, but their medical needs have to come first. I'll try and join you all on your PTR/TR threads soon, I'm still trying to get over the cancellation.:sad2::sad1:

I have no doubt that it will work out later though. Hopefully this will be a short season of staying away from the parks.

but you are right! Family and medical needs to have to come first. WDW will always be there, your family's health may not be. So, please, please DO join us when you feel emotionally ready. You know we are still here if you want to hang out with us!
