So I opened my email today and I got the merchandise credit pin!! WooHoo!! Now I just need to decide if I want to use it. The problem is I have already saved $300 for spending money for the kids so I could put in the extra $95 and get the $500 card. $105 free stuff!!! But I can't use it at T-Rex and I figured they would want to use some of their money at T-Rex to build a dinosaur. So that would be another $60 bucks I would have to spend on top of the $95. Sooooooo torn!! It would be nice for dh and I to have some extra spending money too.....
What do you guys think?
Here I go contemplating again!!!! I just got that email too. My issue is that I have 300 or so Disney Reward dollars on my visa card that I CAN use for food, merchandise, etc. I think it would be a great deal for you depending on all the stipulations and how much you actually spend on "merchandise." For us, we typically don't spend a lot on souvenirs so all the rules on what you can spend it on is a bummer. Sorry, I don't think I was too much help.

Oh what great itineraries you have for your final few days!!! How special!!!! I am excited for you! I think we are all going to have a marvelous time!!!! You have made great plans... we are not doing a carriage ride, but I did decide on the Sleigh ride our last night after the Hoop de Do! I hope your packing is working out alright!!!! I don't know what to say about that gift card, I think it is also really unfortunate that they won't let you use in on beverages, tips, etc... but if there are things you know you want then it makes sense... I did hear it doesn't expire -- so you can save what you don't spend. Can you use it for the Pirates League?

I don't know what to say about the merchandise offer. I wouldn't do it if it would actually make me go over budget. That's just me.

I think the sleigh ride would be so much fun!! I decided on the carriage rides since we are staying at POR figured it would save me some travel time. :)

Thanks for all the thoughts on the merchandise credit. I think we have decided to use it after all..... I figured even if I took out $60 for the build a dinosaurs that would be $240 plus I know dh and I will spend $100 between the two of us and I still need to pick up Woody a few actual birthday gifts while we are there so I figured I am already pretty close to $400. For $395 I would get $500 so I think it works out like a good deal for us.

We finally got our tree up on Saturday. I was starting to worry if we didn't get it up this past weekend it might not go up at all. Yesterday my middle dd got really upset at me when she asked when we were putting up our outside decorations and I said we weren't going to this year. We don't want for them to be off during our trip so people might realize we aren't home. And we could put them on a timer, but that seems like a lot of work when we aren't even going to be here for most of the time. And it is really hard to explain your reasoning to her when the trip is still a surprise to them.
One more funny thing.... the teachers of course know we are going and are keeping our secret. But since the kids don't know I have to keep up the act. So I am sending money in for a pizza party for my youngest when she won't be there, plus buying and wrapping Christmas presents for gift exchanges for both of them. Crazy!! My oldest daughter was really upset I didn't sign up to bring anything to her class party, it is on one of the days when we will be gone. I finally got her to tell me she thought if I didn't sign up for anything I couldn't come. I ended up telling her that I promised her that if she was at her Christmas party I would be there too. Whew!!! It is getting harder to dodge these moments. lol!!
Here is our tree.....

And a couple of months ago I had been looking for some mickey stocking to take with us, but I didn't want to spend a fortune. Well then I saw on happydog's pre-trip report some adorable stocking she found at Target. So I ran to our store and sure enough they didn't have them so I went ahead and ordered them online. Here they are..... I put them up and then we will pack them. They are so adorable. Thanks again for the shopping tip!!

First of all, I don't know how many of you remember how determined I was to rent a double stroller since we had to carry two of our little ones out of Sea World on 4th of July. Well, I went to order one from Orlando Strollers, great prices by the way, and dh told me he didn't want me to.:scared1: He didn't want to mess with the double on the buses. Plus he thinks our kids are old enough to walk. So we made a deal. I would take our umbrella stroller which we would use as needed and then we would rent a single stroller if we need it. I hope it will work out ok. The umbrella is fine for my younger two, both walk most of the time, and they both weigh a little over 30 lbs. My oldest weighs about 45 lbs or so, but she is a real trooper. So hopefully this will work. I don't really want to spend $16+ a day for a stroller, but I don't want a cranky dh either so we will try it out. I did go buy a basic new umbrella stroller from Target. When I pulled ours out I noticed one side has a rip and I would rather pay $20 here for a basic one than $40 at WDW for a basic one. :rotfl:
My second update is regarding the Candlelight Processional package. I had been hesitant to book this one since they doubled the price this year, but I decided to go ahead and book it since I wanted to see it and they had the new "preferred" viewing area for Illuminations. Well, I have been reading a ton of posts about how crowded the preferred viewing area is and how hard it is to get a good view if you arrive late. We were planning to go to the last showing which would put us arriving at the viewing area late so I figured we wouldn't be able to get very good seats. And then people have been saying you need to line up 45 minutes early even with the reserved seating. I started to think it was more of a hassle than it was worth. So I dropped our Candlelight Processional Package for the 17th. I moved Teppan Edo to alate lunch reservation and we will see how busy the standby line for the 5 p.m. show is. Plus I have been reading some weather reports about how it might be colder the beginning of the next week so we may want to spend the morning swimming or come back to the resort early for their campfire. I think it will just give us some more freedom for the day.
My third update is I finally ordered a cake for Woody's (Chris) birthday. I ordered a Mickey head cake, chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, with an inscription that will say Happy 4th Birthday Christopher. I ordered for our dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe on the 23rd. Let me see if I can find a link to a picture of the cake.....

Well, I have a busy day on the homefront trying to get through a ton of laundry and house cleaning. This afternoon my eldest has another Christmas choir concert (she had one last night and with it being outside in the cold I am now frantically worried about us getting sick.) At least today's concert is inside, but they are walking there?? If it is raining and cold I think I will just pick her up and drive her over there. I do not need all of us getting sick this close to our trip.
And then this afternoon after school we are going to go see the new Princess and the Frog movie. WooHoo! So excited!!
Well, I have to run.... Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!

Here is a picture of the surprise boxes out under the Christmas tree.... inside are Mickey/Minnie head helium balloons. The idea is when they open the boxes the balloons should float up. Then inside there are gift bags with a small Miceky/Minnie, personalized welcome letters, Disney dollars, and for the girls a Princess and the Frog necklace and a mickey ring I picked up along the way.
The plan is that the kids will have been good all day so we let them open these presents early tomorrow night. I am so excited!!

The surprise went really well. We let them open the presents early since they were behaving so well.:lmao: They were so excited!! Lots of screaming and such. I am surprised they got any sleep last night at all. I imagine their teachers are going to have fun with them today since I'm not sure they can sit still now.
Well, this is my last post before our trip. We leave this afternoon and my dh had to go into work today. He was scheduled off, but had some meeting he had to go to so I am on my own finishing up all the loose ends so I better get on it.
Thanks for following along! Hope you all will be back for my trip report. All my fellow Chistmas travelers have a safe and magical trip!

haha!!! That is GREAT! I'm about to leave myself. The kids haven't opened their surprise present. I can barely contain myself so I knew the kids wouldn't have a chance at school today! :rotfl:

How was your trip!?!? (When you return to read this =) I think if I remember correctly, or just cuz i just read the last few posts ;) today is Woody's birthday, so enjoy that fabulous looking cake and have fun today!)
Backtracking... School finished up nicely, all my finals went well and were a nice contribution to my GPA = ) Your tree is beautiful, but am I such a typical woman when I say the first thing I noticed was your gorgeous hardwood floors? I love them. That will be the most important thing in my future home. Next, those surprise boxes looked amazing, I would want to open them :rotfl: Did you take pictures of the kids as they were doing it? Reactions would be priceless. I hope you're having an amazing time and I can't wit to hear what you have to say about the whole trip!:yay:

We are back!!! We had a wonderful trip. I think 11 days is the perfect amount of time for my family, ok I could stay forever, but I think Chris and DH were ready to come home. I will get started on my trip report very soon!We pre-bought the photopass CD so I relied pretty heavily on them for pictures this trip so I will start with my pictures and update as I get the CD. WooHoo I made my family stop almost every time they saw a photographer. The kids got tired of it fast, but I got some great pictures! And I managed to get a whopping 450 pics! Can't wait to share them with you all!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Chris! He had a wonderful birthday.
You are just like me, before we got our floors put in they were the first thing I noticed too! Thanks for the compliments on my tree! I have got to get it taken down today. When you get a chance come on over to my trip report. I am starting to work on it.
Congrats on the great ending to the semester! When do you start back up for the spring? What are you taking this semester?
