We will be meeting some friends for lunch at DTD. They live in the area and will be paying for their meal in cash. We are staying on property and will be paying for our meal with the dining plan. Is this OK? Will it be a problem?

It's fine. Just tell your server you'll need separate checks, and whose food goes on which check.
It's not a problem at all, just let the waiter know in the beginning so he can prepare separate checks. We had 9 people at some of our meals, 3 on the plan, and the other 6 divided among 2 familes and there were no issues at all. Just be aware that the WDW restaurants all added the 18% gratuity, regardles of how the checks were split, they just allocate it between the parties. I don't know if the DTD restaurants are the same.

Yep, out IL's come over from Daytona and we have done many meals where we are on the dining plan and they paid cash. The server will ask you if you are on the plan when they come for your drink order, if you don't ask just tell them and they will make separate checks. Never had a problem and we have probably done 10 meals that way.
