That just stinks!!! Hope & change is the current mantra. Even BAD change is change. There is no hope for us given who's in charge of the change right now.

I hope you are able to find a good job, soon! In the meantime (and take this one from me) double check your credit report & do a background check on yourself. We just found out that my DH did 4 years prison time in Indiana on a cocaine charge. No joke!!! I just wonder who I was sleeping with for those 4 years.:confused3

What kind of plant is it? I'm sorry for you that this happened. Maybe the co.'s are moving south to keep the Mexicans down there and less here to take care of.

When Obama was elected I said I didn't vote for him but I'll support him because he's our prez. My mind has changed a lot since January 20th. People keep yelling at conservatives saying we can't afford tax cuts. Companies who provide huge amounts of jobs need tax breaks to be competitive with the foriegn imports. If we continue to tax the hell out of these co.'s they will continue to move overseas.

Despite the propaganda on TV, this recession is not over. We will be feeling the impact for a long time. I am truly sorry to hear of your job loss. I have been there a couple times and know the anger and frustration you feel. I also know that, after each layoff, I ended up better than before. So have some faith and keep moving forward!

I am sorry to hear this news, but please keep the faith that your story will improve. My BIL lost his job in December, and I just heard yesterday that he has finally landed something and will be starting on Monday. Small company started several years ago by an entrepreneur...that's always been the backbone of this economy. I hope something comes along SOON for you.

Sorry Deb..couldn't resist.
This does explain why it is he wasn't getting jobs he was perfectly suited for.
Wow..I'm sorry this has happened. How difficult is it to rectify?...

I am very sorry and hope you find something soon.

Both my husband and I are looking for work and hoping something comes soon. I am actually off to an interview in about 15 min. Hubby is going back to school.

It does make you change your perspectives a bit and humbles you A LOT.

Best of luck to you and your family. You are well qualified and will find something soon.

The cocaine arrest report was only a small part of what was reported. We would never have had a clue about any of this had his current employer not hired him on the spot & did a background check after the fact. I am considering contacting a lawyer to see what, if anything, can be done. In addition to prison time in a state he's never been to, they listed a bunch of crap with names similar to his, but not the same. Addresses similar to ours, but not the same. A whole bunch of crap!! Now, if this were true, I wonder why the state of Florida allowed him to become a Notary????

We thought that his age was why he wasn't getting anywhere with jobs he was very well qualified for. I think it's a bit clearer now. The company that performed the background check said they would clear the mis-information. I just wonder why they assumed a Richard Leon Smith of Indiana was the same person as a Ricky Lee Smith of Florida? The ages were way different, too. At the very least, this company was extremely incompetent!! I think we need to change our last name to Wdzewzinbaizicwzyk.

I did hard time with that guy back in '63 in Attica.

Pete must have changed his name.....

Sorry about the job loss. This recession started in 2007 and still has a lot of life left in it. Many people are being hurt by it.

I hope it all works out for you and the rest of us as well. I'm still working, but I heard on the drive home last night that a few of my co-workers are not (second round so far this year).

Most of our accounting staff were told that their job is going overseas at the end of December. That has to be tough knowing the clock is ticking. I'm sure they are happy to have that income until December, but it's got to be tough to stay motivated.

KIND OF FUNNY... MY DH LOST HIS JOB IN LATE APRIL. HE ALSO SIGNED THE SAME KIND OF PAPERS. I TOLD HIM THAT WAS JUST FINE AND DANDY... BUT, HERE IS THE KICKER. IT DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HIS WIFE BEING ABLE TO TALK ABOUT THE COMPANY. :confused3

I WILL SAY WHAT HAS TO BE SAID.... ;)

BUT, REALLY IT ISN'T SO BAD (YET). WE WERE READY FOR AT LEAST ONE OF US TO GET LET GO.

Having lost jobs in the past, I can recommend a book to read, "Parting Company" by Drake Bean, and Morine (sp). Its a quick read and has a lot of real good information regarding job searching, networking, resume preparation, etc. There are also usually several support groups which can provide not only resources but contacts to help in getting job interviews.

Best of luck to all job searches.

Good luck in your job search. I think when a plant moves to Mexico the Feds should tax them to death where it cost them more than they make in "slave" labor. My brother was sent to a Mexican facrtory for a month a couple of years back. He said its bad down there says American factories look like prisons with razor wire and all. They have guards search everyone on there way out, they treat them so bad they are worried they may steel to help make up for the low pay. he says its very sad the way American companies treat everyone.

My dept head is taking a job in Mexico...He say's he is moving into a american compound...Guards with machine guns at the compound...At work...well all he could say was there were lot's of things going on there that would not be allowed in the USA...But that's why they moved there right? Why pay me a fair wage and them 2 dollars a day...and bye the way my plant was not union. One of the guy's i worked with told me about something that happened in the china plant...A x ray machine conveyor went out and they had some workers holding the tires as they went thur x-ray...he told them they could not do that they will be harmed...the response was dont worry we have many chinese...:scared1:

I hope you find something better quickly. My dh is experiencing pay cuts, lay-offs and possible closing also. It's everywhere. I guess it could be worse, though. You could be the guy having to train the Mexicans to do your job. :sad2:
