I just wanted to share our experience last week. We stayed at the GF and had the DxDDP. I had heard on the boards that you can order Room Service from Narcoossee's if staying at the GF. Since I have a terrible two-year old, dining in 2TS restaurants is not easy for us. I have to say, this alone was the best part of our trip and the best reason to stay at the GF!! We ordered room service TWICE during our stay it was fantastic!!!
I had stopped by the restaurant to pick up their current menu. That evening I called to place our order (you call private dining and indicate you want to order from Narcoossee's). I was told that there will be an additional 25% service fee to order from any GF restaurant. When I mentioned I was on the DxDDP, they said it was no problem all fees were included in the 2TS, even the tip!
The first night we ordered crab soup, fried shrimp, surf & turf, scallops, cheesecake and strawberry shortcake. The food was delivered within 50 mins and the bill was $260!!:scared1: Only cost us 2 TS each! :yay: The food was very hot, fresh and just as good as if we were dining in the restaurant. They even include the sourdough bread served in the restaurant!
We enjoyed the meal so much that I moved a few ADRs around in order to give us enough credits for another meal. It worked out perfectly as there was a severe thunderstorm that night, we were happy to be dining in the room. That night we ordered the crab cakes, shrimp, whole lobster, surf and turf, cheesecake and strawberry shortcake the bill came to $289! :scared1: Again, only cost us 2TS. DH insisting tipping the delivery guy each time, especially in the rain. Even though I told him the tip was included.
I just wanted to share that this was by far the BEST 2TS meal we've ever had!!! If you're staying at the GF and on a DDP I highly recommend room service!!!
(We ordered just for the two of us. Since my DS2 is not on a DDP we used my DS5's 2TS each night to purchase 2 kid's meal in the quick service restauant. It just made more sense to us.)

You're welcome! They don't advertise anywhere in the Private Dining room menu that you can order from any of their restaurants. I had to discover it here on the DIS!!:yay:

We are not staying at GF, but do have an ADR for a late dinner on the day we plan to do Universal. It would have been amazing to have this "at home" when we'll be so tired.

Can you order room service from Citricos?
Yes! I've heard on the boards that people have ordered an appetizer from the Grand Floridian Cafe, entree from Narcoossee's, and dessert from Citricos.
I was told by Private Dining that you can order from any GF restaurant, but they will add the 25% surcharge (included in the DDP).

Wonderful I am planning on doing room service from both Narcoossee's and Citricos after the 9/22 and 10/2 MNSSHP.

Pick up the menus directly from each restaurant when you arrive. Ask what time they stop serving dinner. Both times we ordered around 6pm and had the food by 7pm. I know basic room service is 24 hours, I have no idea what time the restaurants close. If you plan on ordering at the end of the parties, they might not be serving at 11pm or Midnight.
Just find out well in advance. It's such a wonderful meal in the luxury of your room!
I wish I would have thought to order from Citricos! It never crossed my mind! :headache:

Do you think maybe they made a mistake and should have charged you the 25% surcharge? I'd love to do this on our upcoming trip.
Also, did you have a lot of credits left over from the dxddp?

The surcharge didn't make any difference to me since I wasn't paying for it OOP. They accepted 2TS regardless. EVERYTHING is included when using the DDP. Delivery fee, surcharges, gratuities, etc.... Although my DH felt uncomfortable NOT tipping the delivery guy, so he gave him $10 each time.
I just wanted to mention the surcharge here because I've never heard about it before. The surcharge only applies when ordering OOP from any restaurant. It does not apply for the standard private dining menu.
They did apply it to our order. The menu priced surf & turf around $59 (I'm guessing I can't remember exactly) and on our receipt we were charged around $78.
Also, did you have a lot of credits left over from the dxddp?
No, we never have any credits unused. I plan our meals out and mark down the credits along with it. If we're entitled to 63 credits for the week, I mark the # next to each restaurant minus the credits used. So in the end, after each meal my total matches up with Disney's. You'll find your remaining credits at the bottom of each receipt.
If plans change, we just resort to room service. Last Nov we had skipped a dinner midweek, so on our final morning we ordered room service breakfast. That's what we love most about the deluxe plan at the deluxe resorts. You can always order in. :thumbsup2
Oh, I also try to plan out our snacks. I noted this time to use 5 or 7 each day, and we did. We used a lot on water, chocolate milk, slushies and ice cream. Last trip I had way to many snack credits over and had to buy a bunch of prepacked snack items on our last day :sad2:. This time I planned it much better. :)
The more we use the DxDDP, the more we enjoy it!:goodvibes

Thank you for the info! We are staying at BWI Concierge for one night, BC standard room for 3 nights, and GF concierge for 3 nights. We are getting free dining for the BC 3 night trip. I am going to upgrade that to deluxe. Then we will have 4 days to use our credits (Sun - Wed midnight). Thanks to you, now I know I can order room service for breakfast. Probably 1 meal, for 2 TS and my 1 year old and 5 year old will share. I'm not much of a breakfast person.
How did your kids do in restaurants? I'm not too worried about my 5 year old at all. She is very well mannered. But my 9 1/2 month (will be 1 year old) eats like a savage animal. She is like a vaccuum cleaner and when she's done, everyone else better be, too! I'm hoping that changes in 3 months by the time our trip rolls around! I'm planning very early dinners and lunches to avoid the nap time when she will be most cranky.

My DS2 is a terrible two year old. He does not do well in restaurants without entertainment. For breakfast and some dinners we did character meals. The two Narcoossee's meals were for us :cloud9: Every other meal revolved around the kids.
We had the most wonderful lunches while my DS2 napped. We enjoyed Tutto Italia, The Plaza, Sci Fi, etc.. I purposely plan lunch around his nap time. He'd sleep for three hours and we'd get to enjoy a meal in peace! :cloud9: I would feed him right after his nap. Usually with DS5's leftovers or I'd purchase a CS kid's meal for him OOP. I have the Disney Visa Rewards Card and use the money each trip for his OOP meals. They don't really add up to much, but the money is set aside for him.
Another thing we discovered on the DxDDP is that they don't allocate Kids meals separate from Adult meals. Which works to your favor since many places don't always offer the same entrees for kids. We were able to split an adult french toast room service between both kids. In Gasparilla's Grille at the GF they don't have pizza on the kid's menu but we were able to purchase an adult pizza meal for 1 TS credit for the boys. The receipt will list all your credits together, we never had a problem with this. Although if you ask about it, you will hear some controversy at the register. Kids are supposed to order Kid's meals. So just don't mention it's for a kid :)
If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Just to clarify, you kept mentioning that the meal only required 2TS credits for the $260 and $289 meals. Did you really mean 2TS per person, or 4 total, since Narcoosseee's (Room Service) is a 2TS credit per person signature restaurant?

Just wondering if this is something you can do at all the Resorts or if its GF specific. I booked my vacation package w/ the DDP. I just found a code on Mousesavers for the free dining and upgraded to the Deluxe Dining and am actually getting a $95 refund from disney, lol go figure.
All these new dining credits are making my head spin. Im wondering if we would be able to order room service for California Grill when we stay at the CR and just use the 2 TS credits per person. Let me know if anyone else has any experience with this. What a fabulous idea GoofyGal!

Way to go on the savings! :woohoo:
I haven't heard of anyone getting room service from Cali Grill, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. I'd ask at the restaurant podium. Let us know when you find out.
I have heard of people ordering from Jiko while staying at the AKL and I know you can order from the Kona Cafe when staying at the Poly. Practically all the items on the Poly's private dining menu are served in the Kona Cafe. I KNOW the Tonga Toast is on the room service menu! :thumbsup2

Yes, please ask IPO if you can order private dining from any of the CR restaurants. I'm very curious. I've heard wonderful reviews of The Wave for dinner :goodvibes

I was under the impression that room service is available at all of the deluxes for two credits. We ordered twice when we stayed at the BCV with the dining plan.

I am really interested in this as well as we are trying to decide between deluxe and regular and will be staying at BLT in October. I understand that the room service available to the CR guests is also available to the BLT guests. If we can order room service from Cali Grill, we just may go for it! (Deluxe that is!):thumbsup2
Thanks!

Last year we tried to order room service at AKL from the Jiko menu, which is available. However we were told the dxddp did not cover the 25% surcharge, and we had to order from the main menu. I wonder if this has changed for this year, or if the GF includes the surcharge but AKL doesn't?

So heres the response I got back from CR's IPO:
Dear Amanda, Unfortunately there is no way to order from California Grill or The Wave and have it delivered to your room.
Wonder why GF allows it but not CR? :(
Oh well, Im still gonna ask again when I get there, cause you never know. ;)

I was told that the DxDDP included all additional fees/surcharges. Perhaps that CM was not familiar with the DxDDP?

So I guess it pays to ask more than just one person at Disney. The first email that I sent to the IPO was apparantly an old email address but must get forwarded to the new one. I just got this response back from a different cast member:
Amanda,
I just spoke with Private Dining, they will allow you to order a some of the selections off of the menu from The Wave and The California Grill in the room. All Private Dining orders are 2 Table Service points per person. Hope this helps!
If you have any further questions please let us know!

Absolutely! I'm going Sept 9 - 14th so I will make sure to keep track of what items can be ordered.
Also, This may help some people save money....I originally booked a vacation package at full price w/ the regular dining plan. Later I found a code for the free dining and called back to upgrade to Deluxe dining and actually got a credit back for $95. Long story short it was $95 cheaper for me to upgrade to a better dining plan w/ the code.
Here are the codes:
Magic Your Way with regular Dining Plan RYH; Magic Your Way with Deluxe Dining UGR; Magic Your Way with regular Dining and Wine & Dine Package KEU; Magic Your Way with Deluxe Dining and Wine & Dine Package NZZ.

Just wanted to throw this idea out there.
DH and I were discussing the other night that we could have ordered room service for one adult. The DxDDP offers a lot of food, and most time we didn't eat everything we ordered.
When you call PD, they ask how many people will be dining. Next time we will probably do it for one and share everything. Especially if we order the crab cakes and surf & turf. They serve two crab cakes for an appetizer then two pieces of steak with the lobster tail - more than enough food for two adults to share if you're not starving (and if you've both already had breakfast, lunch and evening snacks from the CL lounge :rotfl:)
Just an idea that I wanted to share! Hope it helps anyone!:flower3:

Wonder if they'll let you deliver it to the Atrium lounge so you can watch the fireworks while you eat? Still more casual then going upstairs to the restaurant.
