Hi! We are going to DW in August and were thinking about doing the picnic at a CS lunch. Has anyone tried this yet? What's the food like and how are the picnic spots? Are they shaded and/or busy? We were just wondering if the picnic is worth having to eat outside versus eating at somewhere like Pizzafari. Thanks!:goodvibes

I also am curious about this. Also, can you get any tier with a CS credit? It sounds fun and different!

The bag looks really cute. I a interested in hearing about the portobello & veggie wrap with the tandoori spiced tofu.

From what I have read it sounds like you can get either tier with CS credits, but I am not 100% sure so I'd like to know too! I thought it would be something different on our trip. My only worry is lack of seating areas/it's too hot!

Thanks for the heads up! We are taking water bottles with us into the park so it shouldn't be a problem!:goodvibes

You're very welcome. I also found a map of suggested picnic spots: http://allears.net/din/akpicnicmap.jpg

I really want to try this in August.

I was wondering about which tier you had to pick from for the free dining too. Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks again for the map! I think we'll be trying this in August for sure. You can only eat so many burgers and fries, with CS credits.

On this DIS review of the picnic, it says that it qualifies as a CS meal, but does not specifically say if both tiers or just 1 tier. http://www.disunplugged.com/2009/04/14/picnic-in-the-park-at-animal-kingdom/

Is the credits based on the meal you choose (like three credits for the meal for three)? I assume this is the case.

Yes. If you order a picnic meal for 3 people (the minimum), it will cost you 3 counter service credits.

Is it child credits or adult credits?

You can pick from either tier and pay with counter service credits, whether it's free or paid dining.

The minimum order is now 2 persons, not 3.

You can eat anywhere in the park. There are no dedicated picnic areas that they tell you to use. My party ate the picnic at a table beside the Dawa Bar, outside Tusker House.

I thought there was no difference between child and adult cs credits, so wht happens if you want to order this picnic meal for say 2 adults and 2 children, will they not let you use your child cs credits?

Are the sandwiched pre-made with all sauces and condiments already on them or can my picky eaters get them made plain?

Thanks!

A child's meal, whether it is a counter service meal or a table meal is always different from an adult's meal. They have a different selection and usually smaller servings.

I understand from seeing the meal on Allears.net that there is enough food to feed a family of four. Does anyone no for sure?

Yes, if you go to WDW Dining Picnic in the Park it shows the menu and prices for 2people.

i think i've just found the answer (hopefully) on another picnic in the park thread, the diser said
"It worked for us last month-2 adults 1 child CS. All CS pooled together and it took 3 off for our ticket. Don't see how Disney could do it any other way with mostly families ordering.
BTW it was great and we are looking forward to doing it again on next trip! "

Hopefully this is the case, as we want to oder 4person meal (3adults, 1child, 1 infant).
the only other way i can think of is to order 2 X 2person meals; that way you could get one with ham, and one with chicken, and split it so you get a bit of both

We just got back and ate the picnic for our last full day at AK. We had two rooms of family so we ordered a party of 2 and another party of 3. We could choose either tier, but the whole room had to to the same. The only downside we saw was that if you are a party of 5 you get one more side than two smaller parties. We chose the tier one simply because we had more choices of sandwiches and a couple days earlier we ate at Flame Tree and two of our party had the BBQ chicken.

We really liked the whole experience and would do it again if given the chance.:hippie:

I wish they would give you a choice of drinks rather than just a small bottle of water. I would rather have a soda with lunch since I drink water the rest of the day. Other than that, this looks great.
