White Castle announced yesterday that it had plans to put in a restaurant next to the Home Depot in Whitehall - a mere 5 miles from FWGuy's house. Boy, Howdy!!! That will be the first White Castle in PA.

Well, I know I used to eat them a lot in college, but it was always after we had a few and we really liked them then. I never really knew what they tasted like until I was much older. Just to tell you how good they are, Cheryl, I am planning on going down tonight and sitting in the abandoned gas station where they are going to build this place so I can be the first in line when it's finally there and open.

No, I'm talking about a sackful of bite sized jewels; gifts from God Himself; fried in their own grease, topped with tiny sauteed onions and the best melted American cheese Kraft can conjur up with today's chemicals. Washed down with an icy soft drink. Pound for pound, without a doubt, the best laxative money can buy.

We had a White Castle at Pitt when we were there in the early 80's - they closed it - but what goes around comes around

I went to college in Chicago and back in the 60's you could get a "bag of burgers" for $1 and that was for 10. When DW's mom was still alive and living in Chicago and we visited,we usually opted for the hot dog route with the sliced tomatoes on the hot dog with a dill pickle spear smothered in greasy fries and wrapped up in paper. We would often drive the 10 miles to DW's wive's old neighborhood to get a "Jimmy's Dog" at Division and Pulaski. DW's BIL lives about 3 miles from SuperDawg and in all the years I never had a SuperDawg, but went local ... maybe one day if we ever get back to the Chicago area.
BTW "sliders" is a common name for hamburgers on a ship. I won't go into what they call the bologna that comes in the 3' long logs that are sliced onboard ship :rotfl: :goodvibes

Nothing firm yet - it seems the abandoned gas station is on a flood plain, which scared off a Dunkin Donuts franchise, but since White Castles are all corporate owned, they have some money behind them and it is thought they will overcome the flood plain problem without an issue (just gotta pay off the right government officials).
