Fax requests or wait?

We are doing the land /sea package in December and we upgraded to the GF (I have ALWAYS wanted to stay there!) I was wondering if I should fax my request for a lagoon view room a few days before we go call now and put it on my ressie or just take my chances at requesting it when we check in. It would be so magical to be able to see the castle out my window in the morning....advice please!!! Thanks Ü

I believe the lagoon view is a catergory of room that costs more then other rooms. Do you know what room category you paid for? Are you looking for a free upgrade or are you willing to pay the difference between what you are paying and a redued rack rate for lagoon view? There seems to be two different types of upgrades that some people get at checkin.

The free upgrads are random and luck of the draw some people ask for free upgrades(not something I am comforable with) and sometimes they are granted and sometimes they are not.

Others ask how much it would cost to upgrade to the better view and sometimes get to upgrade for an extra $35 to $50 a night which is more then what they are paying for the less desirable view but less then rack rate for the better view.

Hope this information help you out. As I say to anyone who asks about upgrades/requests keep in mind that it may not be granted and as long as get the room you paid for have a great trip.

The chances for a room upgrade without paying are slim if you are looking for a free upgrade and if your room is part of a DCL package. DCL's contract with the resorts prohibits upgrades. You could get lucky and get a CM who doesn't know/care about this but I wouldn't set my heart on it.

I am perfectly happy to pay a bit more for the upgrade, but I know that sometimes in these group situations it is hard to get one without paying through the kazoo! I guess what I was hoping for was the view at the best rate possible......how to manage that......I know getting a deal out of Disney can be quite a challange! I love all things Disney but I cut coupons too!
