The two times that I stayed there it was deffinately worth the extra money. The Univeral Express access is the main reason for the staying there.

No doubt about it! A woman I met on my last trip said the previous year she rode 3 rides in 12 hours. She stayed at Portofino this year and rode 12 rides, 3 times each!! Go for it!

My nephew had a time share near SeaWorld this past Thanksgiving week. He got a room at the HRH for one night which gave him two days worth of express access at the Universal parks. He said it was the best money he's ever spent!

We are going to DW in October, camping at FW, but want to go to Universal 2 days. I was wondering about a similar question. We wanted to stay at the RP for 1 night to get FOTL and wondered if we would get if for 2 days (the day we check in and the day we check out?)

YES!!!!!!!
One night stay will get you front of the line 2 days if you do it right...
We arrived at the Portofino at 8:00 am from our other hotel, and left our luggage at Conceirge, and front desk gave us a temporary room card. We left hotel and hopped on boat that took us to the parks, and were there before opening.
The last day we took our luggage out of the room at 8:00 am and checked out, but did'nt turn in our room keys, had front of the line that last day too.

We were able to ride whatever we wanted, over ande over again. Rode MIB 7 times in a row one day!!!
I don't stay on-site at WDW, but the hotels are sooo nice at Universal, they aree worth it to me, and I'm a cheap, cheap, cheap-o!
