When the plant you purchase at a nursery is not the color you purchased. I purchased a few new Japanese Iris this year. One opened today and it not what I purchased. It's beautiful a deep, deep purple with a yellow teardrop in the middle of the peddles. I guess I keep it. I would expect this at a discount store but not at a nursery. The picture of the Iris was stapled on the plastic pot. I think someone was color blind.

Along the same lines, the seeds I got for a bush type pumpkin (non vining) has already crawled up the fence into the neighbors yard. Whoops, wrong seeds!

You're right Mamu, it's very annoying!! We're having this problem with a patch of verbena that we planted. Each cell pack had a tag, and at least one flower that had bloomed. We wanted all red. They were planted and a couple of days ago, what do I see? PINK flowers opening amongst the red patch............grrrrr... It looks terrible!

So sad.

Tulirose will help. Please send all unwanted, color-wronged flowers her way!!! I will try to make a home for all wayward plants! :D

give you credit for a mis-labeled plant (without demanding that the plant be returned)...

Take the label with picture back to the nursery along with a picture of your iris and let them know about the problem. They should offer to get the plant you wanted (probably available next season/year) with a credit or if they have the plant in stock give you a new one.

I've never heard of a reputable nursery asking for the wrong plant back.

I'm sure glad it's pretty though - and worth keeping.

Well, my pumpkin plant that was supposed to be a bush and is actually a loooong vine is now rerouted in an easterly direction - it should be hitting your area by mid July. Please enjoy.

The place I get a lot of my plants will give away the plants they are not sure of the flower color on.... For a very discounted price that is... So I have planted a few trhings not knowing what I was getting for color...
