JoJo wants to go outside. We can't just let him without his lease now. He caught a baby bunny this afternoon and we had to pry it out of his mouth! :scared1: The mommy was out there too. :sad1: It hopped away to it's mom so I hope it is alright but we are taking JoJo out on a lease now. :confused3

I didn't know you could lease dogs . . . we bought ours. Our car is a lease though . . .

No, found a cool web site:

Elizabeth flies to NC tomorrow to visit her grandparents (first my parents, then Trey's, then field hockey camp at UNC). Let's hope for no thunderstorms tomorrow to delay her flight.

Kim, I'm sorry if all of our cookware jokes added to your pain..... but it was funny, sorry!

I hope she has a safe flight and a wonderful time with her grandparents! What a special time. I know how much I loved being with my grandparents, they lived right next door and I couldn't get enough of them!!! I am sure she is very excited!!

klineyqueen
06-28-2007, 04:49 AM
She is, but she has done it about 10 times before. She's actually a bit "annoyed" because on USAirways she still has to fly as an unaccompanied minor (their age limit is 15). She's already gone solo on AirTran and Southwest (only 12 years old for them). When she returns from this trip it will be on Southwest and will be dropped off by a shuttle from camp, so it will be totally on her own.

That is impressive! My mom who just turned 50 would seriously have MAJOR anxiety and probably some sort of attack if she had to fly solo. I don't know if she would be capable of "doing it alone." She isn't afraid to fly, she just relys on my dad for EVERYTHING!

It is funny how times change. Your DD is going alone for a long time. I flew to Ireland alone right when I graduated College and my mom was a mess. I now rely on Jason for a lot but I know I can do things alone. My mom got married at 18 and never fostered any independence.

I ABSOLUTELY did see that Brandi, now I can tell you and Marielle apart!

We really want to cruise on the new ships too! But, I think we will cruise on the old one again before 2011! We are thinking January 2009.

I would love to cruise soon...but with Jake getting motion sick. I want to wait until he is old enough for a patch. I think I will ask his ped. when that would be! I can't make that poor boy sea sick.

75k is alot of posts....I can't believe we made it this far. Are we still ahead of the repo group? I know for a while they were on a record pace but it looked like it had slowed down quite a bit.

Hi guys! I've been checking the thread for my spring cruise and its mostly folks from Atlanta! Go figure.

We just got back from Philly/DC and had a great time. We are going to have to go north a lot more often for vacation.

PJ. Please go to the main board and find the thread about how people like their seat assignments at dinner. There's a single gal who's worried about dining alone/with strangers. I'll bet you will have something great to make her feel better. After all, you're never alone with DIS.

Just for fun....

Oh, DD made 5 scrapbooks from cruise pictures. Don't ever ask her to see them or you will be stuck for an hour or more.

I am glad your daughter had fun making scrapbooks! That is awesome! I was thinking about you in the fabric store the other day!!! My DMom is making some "custom boutique" outfits for the kids for our August Disney trip.

My airport adventures for the day are completed. The check-in lines were long and slow because they were filled with people who needed to reschedule because they got canceled during last night's storms. We couldn't use online checkin or the kiosks because of the unaccompanied minor paperwork. After waiting and getting nowhere for an hour, and knowing that we wouldn't get to the front before her flight left, I left her in line and went over to the self-check kiosks (even though I knew it would reject us). Once it did, I could ask for help, and the ticket agent was willing to override the system since her flight was coming up soon. Thank goodness! Got to the gate just minutes before they started boarding (and there was a crowd there, with 15-20 people on standby hoping to get on the flight!!!)

I don't know if we will see it or not. Nathan really wants to see it so DH or I one may take him on Saturday afternoon. :confused3 It just really depends on what else is going on and how well he behaves.

Hi guys, trying to get to bed before we leave for the beach tomorrow. Hopefully I will get net access and can talk down there . . .

Alex is fine in London - He walked by where the car was found at about 9:00 last night. He is probably on their surveillance camera.

He went to Wimbledon today, went to see Spamalot with a couple of Canadians he met, who then corrupted him into having a few "pints" at a local pub (what's up with that PJ?).

Anyway, need to get to bed, if I don't get to talk, I will miss you guys!

Beer is a Canadian past time, it seems to be how we get to know others, lol. I can't stand the stuff, but have been know to have a pint with friends when the mood is right.

I have been thinking of Alex all day, I woke at 4:40 am and this was the first thing I heard on CNN this morning. Got my worry right up there.

Many Canadian University students head over to the UK for the summer to tour and work. And many British students head over to Canada to do the same. Two of my staff did that this year, one arrived home this week and the other is still hanging in London, he is working at a trendy fashion shop. We finish university exams in mid April, so students have a very long summer to go on adventures or work to cover the next years fees.

I do have to admit that we took yesterday to just rest. We watched Turner Classic Movies channel all day and just vegged. We saw several, one of them Witness for The Prosecution. Anyone seen that? 1954 I think, very good suspense movie if you get a chance. We also saw one from 1967 or 8 about General Custer. Interesting but not at all factual, more a political statement from that era. :rolleyes1 Dennis grew up in Montana and did a report in 8th grade on the last stand and so, of course, noted all the liberties taken in the movie. :lmao: Then there was the Randolph Scott movie about taking cattle from Montana to British Columbia during the gold rush. That was actually a fun movie. Cowboys were way different in 1950 than now. ;) And finally we saw one called The Sniper. Early 1950's about a serial sniper. It too was good. Did not of course show all the blood and gore of today's movies, but rather a lot of suspense.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sundays. I have another day of cooking ahead of me. ;) We grilled burgers for lunch. I tried to make homemade baked french fries but I forgot to spray the pan and they stuck to it. Oops! I also made another batch of Nathan's favorite baked beans so at least I had one side for the burgers. I also have a batch of beef jerky marinating that I will put in the dehydrater this evening. I also made my tomato mixture for the bruschetta we are having this evening with grilled shrimp. Yum!

Now all I left to do today is to make banana bread and a two batches of brownies, prepare the shrimp for the grill and broil my bread for the bruschetta. :faint:

I then need to start packing for our 4th of July getaway to my parents house. We are leaving right after work on Tuesday so we need to have the car packed by tomorrow night.

Well I should probably get off here now, huh? I hope to check in later...maybe the kids will both take a nap. ;)

Hope all is well with everyone.

Hey,

All of a sudden, someone's net access here is letting me on!

This is the email we got from Alex . . .

Hey, just wanted to see how it was going but didn't want to call. I went to see "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" today, it was really funny. Also went out to celebrate Canada Day tonight because its their independence day today, that was a good time at the one Canadian pub in London, it was crazy there but I met some nice people there and went therw with AJ (Aniceto), who is from Edmonton and who I've been hanging out with the past few days, so it was a good time overall. Talk to you later, I'll email you guys tomorrow if I get the chance.
From London,
Alex

Alex has now seen Spamalot, Avenue Q, and now this show. What a life . . .

Brack, the magic dates are check-in December 6, check out December 9th. I wanted to see my Geeks! At the worst I will book a room at a value, will just save a little extra each month and hope for a code, paying for a room actually makes my head hurt. Never realized just how much DVC was saving me, lol.

No, at worst, you will sleep on our couch, and Sophia can sleep with us.

No Brack, I was just telling Amy that on the way back that I had to get a photo of Bert's. Boy this place is changing though . . . they demolished another restaurant (Squatters) and are putting up condos - starting in the $600,000's :scared1:

Hey PJ, just to let you know, I tried calling DVC today, and they cannot book us for Grand Californian yet, as it is not released, even though you can make reservations 11 months out . . . I HATE that. What should we do? Should we wait for DVC to open up, or is that too risky with the Holiday weekend?

John, i looked at Frontier when V brought them up. They don't but Airtran their sister airline does.

I haven't found a flight that leave after 3 pm on any airline but Jetblue (although United has an 11pm flight, but I would bet that flight gets cancelled or changed several times before flight time.) So, I will have a long wait in front of me, I would guess November/December before i can book flights.

One sec, V is flying to Sarasota and you need to go to Ohio, I am easily lost or missing something?

John, it nice to know that the Cuncks are treating Alex well, even across the pond. Hopefully he is having a great experience.

Not yet because there is a very good rumor that once all of the "Super Geeks" buy them at the regular price that Apple is going to cut the price. Also, our rep for our work service says to wait a bit.

Hi Y'all!
Here are some tips for driving in Atlanta for those of you who pass through on the way to DIS!

For those of you that have never driven in ATL, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 are
absolutely true, except for the part about being shot in #6 and #11, but
be careful, that COULD happen too!!

HOW TO DRIVE IN Atlanta:

1. You must first learn to pronounce the city name, it is Et'lanna.

2. The morning rush hour is from 5:00am to noon. The evening rush hour
is from noon to 7:00pm. Friday's rush hour starts on Thursday morning.

3. The minimum acceptable speed on most freeways is 85 mph. Anything
less is considered "Wussy".(which is why I drive 90)

4. Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Atlanta has its own
version of traffic rules. For example, cars or trucks with the loudest
muffler go first at a four-way stop; the trucks with the biggest tires
go second. However, in Roswell & Alpharetta, SUV-driving, cell
phone-talking moms ALWAYS have the right of way.

5. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear ended,
cussed out, and possibly shot.

6. Never honk at anyone. Ever. Seriously. It's another offense that
can get you shot.

7. Road construction is permanent and continuous in all of Atlanta and
surrounding counties. Detour barrels are moved around for your
entertainment pleasure during the middle of the night to make the next
day's driving a bit more exciting.

8. Watch carefully for road hazards such as drunks, skunks, dogs, cats,
barrels, cones, celebs, rubberneckers, shredded tires, cell phoners,
deer and other road kill, and the buzzards feeding on any of these
items.

9. MapQuest does not work here. None of the roads are where they say
they are or go where they say they do and all the freeway off and on
ramps are moved each night.

10. If someone actually has their turn signal on, wave them to the
shoulder immediately to let them know it has been "accidentally
activated."

11. If you are in the left lane and only driving 70 in a 55-65 mph
zone, you are considered a road hazard and will be "flipped off"
accordingly. If you return the flip, you'll be shot.

12. Do not try to estimate travel time, just leave Monday afternoon for
Tuesday appointments, by noon Thursday for Friday and right after church
on Sunday for anything on Monday morning.

13. Above all else, enjoy your driving experience, because if you
actually get where you are going on time, everybody else will be late.
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE

Have a great 4th!

I must admit. It doesn't feel like a holiday to me...just another day! My DH decided to work this year so it is just me and the kids. He works for a small company. They are given holiday/vacation days. You can use them whenever you want. Some guys never go on vacation and use them for holidays...court dates  (I'm not kidding) or Fire Calls. My DH likes to use his for Disney!!!! This year he has 11 paid nonworking days. It isn't bad because if he needs a day she will let you take one without pay. He always takes off Memorial day, so he just does a day without pay and then works long hours the rest of the week...KWIM??? I am rambling...sorry.
