This company seems to have a good variety of Bircks. Bought 3 pairs there over the years

Bette,
I may be possible that Birkenstock has different styles over here, or even a bigger variety. I can check it out if you want and bring some for you. But you have to be aware that the €-$-exchange rate is not exactly favourable for you for the time being.
Birkenstocks or similar shoes are the preferred styles for nurses in Germany, but to be honest, Anja -and many of her colleagues- refuse to wear Original Birkenstocks, because the owner of the company is an a** treating his employees like s***
He often has very bad publicity, because he doesn't pay his staff properly, but his shoes are among the most expensive in this market.

Bette,
here's the link to German Birkenstock-Homepage (http://www.birkenstock.de)
Klick on Kollektion 2003 to navigate to this year's collection, use the arrows WEITER to continue or the up/down arrows to scroll. If you find anything you like, but can't get in The States, we can bring it for you. In Germany we have two special seasonal sales during which many items are heavily rebated, it's the End-Of-Winter-Sale in late January and the End-Of-Summer-Sale in late July. So perhaps we can get a good deal for you in the latter.

We're back from WDW. Chris got his haircut again, but no blue hair this time. But, he did get a blue mickey on the back of his head. Can you believe it? While we were at the Magic Kingdom all day, we didn't go on any rides. We spent the entire day shopping, socializing with friends that met us there, and eating. That's why I love having annual passes. I don't feel the need to go full-speed each time that we go. Which is good, since we have Emily now.

Mike - I think you asked about whether we use a stroller or not, when we are there. Yeah, we take Emily's stroller, since it reclines, so she can nap when she wants to. When she was younger, we would take the backpack and she just loved to see things from Chris's back. And now that she's a little older, she does do some walking, when she's tired of sitting or Chris puts her on his shoulders.

Cathy & Dan - I got your pop top pins. When I find them again after unburying them from all of the stuff that we got yesterday, I'll email you with the costs. They look much cooler in person than the pictures. We ended up getting all of the Mickey characters too, Dan!!

Well, we're leaving soon for my mom's house for our regular Sunday dinner together. This week is her turn and we're having a St. Patty's Day dinner, corned beef & cabbage. Did I mention that my great-grandmother's name was O'Malley?!?!?!?!?

Take care...

Hi, all!
Sorry I haven't been around for a while. It's just been busy here. I'm going to just do a quick hit and miss as I think of things I've read. Had quite a few pages to read.

We're having great weather! Sunshine the past few days and well up into the 60's. Finally, a light at the end of the long tunnel of winter! We were able to take walks outside the past two days and it felt great!

Hope everyone's doing well. Thanks for sending out the kids' list.

Eric-- Sorry you had to miss the half marathon, but glad you're feeling better. Congrats on snagging post #3000.

Amy-- Sounds like a fun day at WDW. We sometimes wish we lived close enough to do that. We only live close to Six Flags and there's no comparison... well, actually we find ourselves saying things like 'Disney would never do this or that'.

Mike-- I'll have to go back and link to the fish pictures. It sounds wonderful. Your daughter has a lot of talent. I agree with Amy... we always used a stroller for Josh even when he was 4 years old. It makes a great place for them to take a break when little legs get tired and you can also use it to help carry all the 'stuff' you accumulate along the way.

Love the T-shirt designs for the Scavengear hunt!

Ave-- Congrats on the tickets for Crosby, Stills & Nash! Yes, I remember them.... Marrekesh Express, Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, etc. Enjoy!! They were also at Woodstock, weren't they?
My sister got to see the Elton John/Billy Joel concert last week for her b'day and I was so envious! They're coming to Cleveland too, but the timing is really bad for us to go... on a weeknight.

Better go switch the laundry again. Take care and hope everyone else is having this super weather too!

Just a comment on the Elton John/Billy Joel Face to Face tour--we managed to get tickets for it in 2001 shortly after they started the tour--it was INCREDIBLE! We had to drive 2 1/2 hours to get there, but it was SO WORTH IT!!!
We also were able to see Elton here. He did a few venues alone while BJ was in rehab. We were one of the fortunate ones--it was last fall--and we had AWESOME seats--only about 10 rows back from the stage. It was incredible.
Congrats on the CS&N tickets.

Can't wait for October to get here! I think there are at least 40 different DISer cabins on this cruise. WOW! :earseek:

hi everybody:

heres my billy joel/elton john dilemma that ended up having a great ending.

andy and i originally bought tickets for the concert which just happened to be on our anniversary but then billy joel got sick so they postponed the concert till september. well that happened to be when we were scheduled to be on our disney cruise. what to do -- sell our tickets or what. well i called disney and was able to reschedule our cruise for 1 week later. whoo hoo. now we had the best week of of lives - billy joel(a fellow long islander) and elton john(who i've followed forever) and the next day leaving for a disney cruise. that was a week in heaven.

everybody have a great day...

Amy ... Thanks for getting the pins for me ... when you can, e-mail me how much. Glad you had a nice day at WDW.

Tina ... I think that he made the t-shirts by scanning a Disney cruise postcard and then making it into an iron-on.

Spent the weekend working on alot of sewing projects I had hanging around.

Weather has finally gotten warmer here and the piles, and piles of snow are melting. THANK GOD! I actually opened the window in my sewing room for a little while yesterday.

I also got a Billy Joel memory: A thoroughly sore and cramped back after having Anja sitting on my shoulders for a good part of the concert he gave during "The River of Dreams"-tour in Frankfurt ;) Even a mere 100 pounds can tire you after a time :p
But the concert was great, one of the best I ever attended, which is quite a great number, because as a paramedic I often had to do duty on concerts, up to 20 a year for a long time.

Billy Joel is one of my absolute favorite performers. I've seen him 3 times in concert. Once when I was living in Chicago, and I saw him with my brother at the United Center. Then, I saw him again here in Tampa. And then, I got to see the Billy Joel/Elton John concert here in Tampa. He is such an awesome performer, I could see him over and over and over again!!!

Cathy,

Do you get a discount on the iron-on transfer sheets? Where are you going to get everything printed? I could split the cost with you and pay for the ScavengEar Hunt shirts since I organized that. You could do the Cruisetoberfest II shirts. That's a lot of shirts! It could be part of my gift to everyone.

Tina ... Last year I did up the iron-on sheets and mailed them to everyone. This year there are a lot more people and I'm still debating about seeing how everyone feels about e-mailing the logo to them and they can run them off themselves on iron-on paper. The paper is easy to get just about everywhere and then they can decide how many shirts they may want ... do they want to put them on something else, etc.

Right now I'm afraid my thoughts are on our soldiers and what may be about to happen.

Let's send out some Pixie Dust and Prayers for all of our troops.

I'd also opt for sending the logos via email and everybody irons them on. Perhaps you could send it in regular version and in a mirrored version. If I remember it correctly you have to print the iron-on mirrored.

Over here we still hope that there won't be any pixie dust necessary for your troops, that the madman just leaves, but I'm afraid he is too dumb to read the signs :( Let's just hope that it will be over as quickly as possible with as few casualties as possible - For your troops and for the Iraqi civilians.

Hi Everyone, Waiting for the President to come on the tube. I have friends that have been deployed, so I'm hoping that war can be averted, but I also feel like this has gone on long enough. Do I sound confused? I am!
Billy Joel grew up a few blocks from me. We went to the same elementary school, Fork Lane. As well as the same Jr. High and High School. My last concert before moving away from NY was the Billy Joel Benefit for Long Island Charities (1979) It was great!
I've been busy downloading CSN songs. All my old stuff is on vinyl records. And I don't even own a record player anymore.

Good morning everyone. It's sunny here today and a lot of the snow has melted since we've had above freezing temperatures since Saturday. Now everything just looks yucky -- the snow is all brown and black. But we can see the ground!!

Listened to Pres. Bush last night on the radio as we were out running errands. Thought it was a good speech although sending lots of pixie dust to the American troops and others that will be affected. Not necessarily too thrilled with the Canada position at the moment. I feel we should be doing more.

Is anyone going to do the parks or other things after the cruise. We spent two days at the parks after our cruisears cruise last year with Art and Cathy and had a blast.

Eric hope that they are not working you too hard. We need you well rested so that we have a target to chase after in Key West:jester:;) Should we let the girls drive the cart in Key West and the guys navigate and back seat drive??

Nancy hope that you are feeling well and the hockey games are going the way you want. Bunny is in London and she had a bit of bad luck. While she went to hail a cab someone distracted her husband and someone else stole her purse:mad:

Mike ... We're probably doing WDW after the cruise again. Still have 2 or 3 days left from last years pass. That was an awful lot of fun wasn't it? Not sure where we'll stay ... Hope they have fall rates for Dixie Landings-Port Orleans Riverside.

A little pre-occupied with the Iraq situation ... Just hope that whatever happens is over fast and done once and for all. Not too thrilled living so close to a military supply depot but then again they'd have to have real good satelites(sp) to find us first.

Thanks for the info, Mary. Sometimes it's hard for someone from a country which measures 500 miles from North to South and 300 from East to West to cope with the dimensions of America ;)

BTW,
just this evening I learned something about your hometown Charleston. I obtained a VHS-tape at Ebay called "Riding the Rails" featuring Johnny Cash. It's a birthday present for my Dad, who has been a Cash-fan for the last 30 years (And I inherited it, too). One of the little stories about the history of the railroad in the USA was about the "Best Friend of Charleston" - I had to think of you immediately.

Hi Everyone -- been laid low for the last day or so with a sore tooth. Went to the dentist yesterday and he couldn't find anything obviously wrong although he knew that it was hurting. I'm to take pain killers for the next couple of days and hope that it goes away or if it doesn't go back and see him for a possible root canal. Yuck. So far it hasn't gone away.:(

My dentist is great though and will see his patients right away if there's a problem -- even on the weekends. My mother had an abcess tooth a few years back and the dentist saw her Saturday morning and then again Sunday morning to look after it. Can't complain about the service he gives.

Congrats Dan on your raise. Always nice to get more $.

Take care everyone and pixie dust to troops everywhere and the civilians affected. Hopefully it won't last long.

It was sooooooooooooooooo nice. We had a ball talking Disney and getting to know each other in the "flesh". Had to laugh, the waitress was surprised that we had just met, guess we were acting like we had been friends for a long time.

OK that was a fun diversion ... now back to work!

Pixie Dust for your teeth *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I hope that it's just an irritation and will go away!!
I just had a triple root canal treatment about four weeks ago :( Fortunately it worked out fine.
Today my dentist called me suprisingly at the office and asked me to come to his place ASAP. At first I was kinda shocked, thought he had found something bad on an X-ray, but fortunately it was just that he had to redo the model for my new dental bridgework, which will be implanted next monday.
I envy the sharks: They can just grow new teeth as often as they want ;)

Eric, I know about the "The Best Friend of Charleston". I belive it was the first train in the US. Charleston has a lot of "firsts". It is a wonderful city FULL of history. I love living here!

Cathy and MaryJo, glad you had a fun meeting!

Dan, I also have been gluded to the TV tonight and last night. I keep thinking they will announce that Sadam is dead and the war is over. At least that is my hope.

I am going to bed! I stayed up WAY too late last night watching the news, then had a very busy day at work. I also think this constant rain is beginning to depress me!It seems like it's been raining for a month!

Ave, there is an interesting artical in the NY Times about Bruce Springsteen. He raised the money to save a small publication. I'll e-mail it to you.

Congratulations on the mini meet Cathy and Mary Jo. Cathy I am sending you a cd with some pictures on it of the forsythia and tulip popular trees here now. There a few homes that are nice in the subdivision that Kathy has a patient in.

My SIL's son is in the 82nd airborne division and is in the middle east now. Probably headed to Iraq, although she hasn't heard from him.

Enjoy the woodworking show Art. Don't let him go crazy Cathy. We will need him on the scavenger hunt in key west. I saw a 155 quart cooler at the bass pro shop in opry mill's mall. If we load that down with beer and put it on Ave's cart that should slow her down.

Hi everyone..laying low for a while..busy at work and doing physical therapy on my knee three times a week--had lunch with Cathy GoofyNut and it was like we knew each other for ages..of course with Disney in common!! We have similar work habits, etc. I heard all about you guys and shared my Disney cruise pictures of my family with her and heard how nice everyone is (glad to hear there are no ax murderers among us!!)--Ave and Mary..you have to keep your hair a different color so I can tell you apart. Cathy will bring pictures to the Lancaster meet so I can put a face with a name!! Started Curves three weeks ago and love it (this coming from a person who considers exercise when I click the remote control!) so I hope to lose a little weight before the cruise but Cathy told me not to worry!!! Between the physical therapy and Curves, I should be able to bring Pinky home to Pennsylvania!!

On a sadder note, I just heard where another Marine has died. God Bless America and our troops.

Hi everyone,

Pinky will be on top of Scarlett on the way to Tennessee. Of course Cathy and Art will be sharing with us. He will be 6 months in Pa. and 6 months here.:teeth:

Sorry to hear about anyone having teeth problems. My DDIL is having a time with her wisdom teeth and two molars. The dentist told her that she needs to have all 6 removed immediately.

My DB has one son in the war in the Marines and my DS has her only son in the war with the Army. He jumps out of perfectly good airplanes. Thanks for all your good wishes.

I was so sorry to hear about the helicopters crashing tonight. My heart goes out to their families.

Dr. Haque is a peds doctor here tonight and he is from Pakistain (SP?) and he told me that he is so glad to be here. He did not like Kuwait at all. He said they were a mean and selfish people especially to other races. I don't know why that surprised me but it did. I guess I really don't get out much. :(

Gotta get off now. My coworker will be back soon. She had to go on a C-section. Dr Haque just got back and said it was a good baby and will go to normal nursery. Yea! We have already admitted one into the NICU tonight.

Take care everyone. Sorry I don't get to comment on what everyone else is doing but I don't get to the computer very often. Kathy with a K:D

Please Ave and Mary, keep your hair color different. It will be too hard to tell you apart!:teeth: I remember twins I went to school with in the 7th grade who traded classrooms a couple of times. That was fun for them until they got caught. The powers that be made them wear different clothes from then on. All they had to do then was exchange clothes. They were a lot of fun together.

Congratulations on all A's! That deserves a celebration. What are you going to do?

Hum, a desingated driver on the cart! Yes! Key West will never know what hit them. I am so looking forward to this cruise. You all just don't know how much.

I really don't like beer THAT much but Mike has been getting me Heinikens and they are really good on a hot day. He got some Holland beer that was BITTER! Yuck! I let him finish off the six pack and waited until he bought the Heinikens. (sp) Also, there is nothing better than a pizza and draft beer in the pizza resturant.

Stacey let me help paint on her fish. She let me use the liner brush. It is about as big around as half a pencil. Then she drew lines on the fish and told me not to get outside the lines. :o Then she told me what a good job I did while she proceded to paint the whole fish while I painted a little spot. (I helped get her started in the artist business and this is the thanks I get.) ;)

Glad to hear about the raise Dan. Glad Scott will be able to go to the spa more than once. ;)

Cathy, Mike is wanting some saw that cuts across a big board. Our skill saw was eaten by my sister's chocolate lab on the day she borrowed it! We didn't find out about it until just two weeks ago when she tried to give us her new saw. (After a year of having/hiding it.) All we have to do is replace the electric cord but it will probably be just as cheap to get another. Hope you don't have that problem with Ashley.

Take care. Kathy with a K

ROFL!!! Mary - you would think you would know how to do these things just by association (or by marriage!). Nice way to spend the day.

After enjoying an enjoyable chat this a.m., we took advantage of the BEAUTIFUL day outside today. Got lots of stuff done and had a great day.

Ave - Great news all around in your home. Way to go to celebrate. So... basically you are saying you couldn't get up this a.m. after all that celebrating last night? I like that better than hearing that you still can't get into chat. Must be extremely frustrating.

Colleen - Can't wait to meet you. However, DH confused you with Sarah'sMom. He asked, is she the one with that daughter who gets her to type reports, etc. ? I had to tell him, no, Colleen is the one with the 10 year old son who just had a B-day and got a guinea pig and they are from Ohio and she looks like Carla! OH, okay, he says. lol

Eric we go on daylight savings time here the first Sunday in April and we fall back to standard time the last Sunday in October. I think that is correct. Someone will make the correction if I am wrong. I know that it is spring ahead and fall back. Kind of like using your knuckles and the space in between to keep track of the months that have 31 days or less. Start on the knuckle of the little finger and work toward the thumb. January is that knuckle and February is the depression between knuckles and so on. Have to use all these little tricks when you get over 40;) as you are about to find out. Mike

I've been using the knuckle-trick for the months since I'm a small boy, my Granny taught it to me ;) So you can consider me a senior for the last 35 years :jester:

So you're switching to DST a week later than us. We have a funny side-effect from the switch-over: Over here shops must close on Saturdays at 4pm (But will be extended to 8pm starting 06/01/03) and the Berliners always make an exemption on the switch-over-weekends by extending it til midnight. When we arrive on Saturday-morning we just bring our luggage to the hotel, then do some sightseeing, return to the hotel in the early afternoon to have a nap (Or watch Smallville;) ) and then we're off to dinner and after that: Shop-til-U-drop :p

Ave -

I'm glad that you had a nice day here in FL. We had rain, rain, rain everywhere. It rained from the moment we got up today, until later this evening. But, I guess I shouldn't complain, because I'm sure that we will be in the drought again soon. Then, it'll be hurricane season again.

We had a good weekend at our college's founders/homecoming weekend. A few events were cancelled, one was the fireworks and they were cancelled because of the war. The college decided that they didn't want to scare the people of Lakeland with the loud booming of the fireworks. It was sad, because that really kicks off the events for the weekend, but I guess that it makes sense.

Emily has learned something new in the past 3-4 days. She has figured out how to climb up onto the couch. The only problem now is that she wants to stand and jump on the couch. I'm just waiting for her to lose her balance and fall off. She just makes me so nervous. We keep trying to tell her to sit, but you can never seem to get a 1 1/2 year old to listen. I swear that she has selective hearing.

Oh well, I hope everyone is doing well!!!

*Cost?
It's $20/person for 3 hours. Kids 10 years and under are FREE. Prepayment by check is required three months prior to excursion (July). They don't take credit cards. If you are from outside the US, US Money Orders are accepted or if you have a US dollar account from a foreign bank you can draw a check on that. We will be sending our checks AND a self-addressed stamped envelope (so the checks can be returned if we miss Key West) to the following address:
The Southernmost Scavenger Hunt
3301 Pearl Ave
Key West, FL 33040
DO NOT SEND CHECKS, YET!

*Place and time?
We are going to meet on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 1PM in front of the stairs to the Hilton Hotel Lobby. It's to the right of the red brick building (Custom House) as you leave the ship. The Magic usually docks in front of the Hilton Hotel. The hunt lasts from 1 PM to 4 PM. Remember to wear your ScavengEar t-shirts designed by @GoofyNut.

*Electric Cart?
If one needs an electric cart, the scavenger hunt people can point you in the right direction to rent one. The two electric cart places they use are Key West Cruisers @ (305)294-4724 http://keywest.com/keywestcruisers/ on Truman Ave at Truman and Duval and Reef Mobile (formerly Randal J Scooters) @ (305) 296-0208 www.reefmobile.com on Greene Street (near Sloppy Joes Bar on Duval). The Reef Mobile Electric Carts are themed, but have changed management and are going to be themed according to "reefs", like shark, manatee, dolphin, baracouda or octopus in a reef theme instead of the polka-dotted one on the hunt website. Call these companies to make reservations if you require an electric cart. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

*Sites?
Southermost Point, Hemmingways House, Shipwreck, Cigar Place, Shrimp Dock and off the wall places you might not normally have known about. The normal Key West sites plus some interesting wacky ones, too. Learn about interesting facts and trivia of these landmarks and sites.

*Hunting for objects?
In addition to searching for the sites and answering the clues (all for points are counted at the end for prizes), there is an object named "PINKY". He is their mascot and if you find him, he is worth an extra 50 points. People in Key West know of Pinky the Flamingo. He's famous. As our award winning scavenger hunt is, too.

Since we are the ScavengEar hunt, our hunt has to have a pair of Mickey Ears, too. The back is sewn with the words "Pinky". At the end of the hunt, people gather at the "mystery location" for the awards ceremony where all the points are tallied and stories of our hunt are told.

That's it for now. They will be checking in on us to give our group more information, so they will be posting shortly and I will also. If more people want to join the group, just reply to this thread. If I missed someone, sorry. Just remind me, and I'll add you.

Hi Cathy -

I'm here, at least to poke in once in a while. Ever since I started this new job last week, I've been swamped. I worked yesterday from 7:30am - 11pm, with a 1.5 hour break to take Emily to Gymboree class at 11:00am, and I took a dinner break for about an hour at 6pm. Then, I was right back at it at 8:00am this morning. I'm just wiped out.

As for your soapbox, I understand. But, just like those people have the right to protest, you have the right to express your opinion. That's why we love the USA, Freedom of Speech!!! While I don't necessarily believe that the protesting does any good one way or the other, they have the right to stand up and say what they want. Just as you have the right to stand up and say that they are ridiculous for protesting.

Heck, I support our troops whole-heartedly!!! If it weren't for the fact that Chris gained a little weight and couldn't get it off in time before his promotion review, the Army unit that he would have joined has already left for parts unknown. I already stood by him when he went to Bosnia, and I would have stood by him again, but I'm so glad that he's staying right here next to Emily and I.

Prayers to everyone that their family and friends are safe and sound!!!

Thanks Cathy!! Today is turning out to be much better than yesterday. I'm hoping to turn off my work computer no later than 5pm today!!!

Chris asked me last night, how long did I think that this extra work was going to last? Well, unfortunately, not anytime soon. When they laid people off 2 weeks ago, that work had to go somewhere, and I picked up my new job, my old job and some work from people that were let go. I'm just hoping that it doesn't turn into late nights, every night. Once in a while is ok, but every night is just too much!!!

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking but not posting. Part of the problem is that in the evening AOL continues to kick me off. So I write a reply and before I can send it, I'm booted off line and then would have to rewrite my post. So haven't bothered posting because of that.
Another reason, have been busy at work and home. Both of the boys are back in college, so now have more time. Don't need to do as much laundry, cook meals and clean. If I don't feel like cooking, Norm and I just go out to eat.

Hockey season is nearly over, Norm's high school team is out of the playoff and he only has one more game to coach the Senior All Star game on Friday. We were both going to retire at the end of this season. However, at the High School Hockey pizza party we got talked into still being involved next year. I will be the treasurer and Norm will be assistant coach. He doesn't want all the responsibility of being head coach, but will help as assistant. I guess after all these years of being involved with ice hockey, we just couldn't go cold turkey. However, I won't need to be organizing any tournament on the cruise as I have resigned from the travel hockey programs.

Cathy-- My neice just got married a little over a year ago, and her husband is a Marine and left in Jan for Kuwait. Both Norm and I fully support our troops and pray for a quick and successful outcome to the war. One of the things that I regret from my youth is being a Vietnam war protestor. As a 20 year old, you think you know it all and felt the cause was just to protest. Looking back on it, it served no purpose and showed such lack of support for the brave men and women who bravely serve our country. Now if I could just get that into the head of my 20 year old DS#1, who does oppose the war. However, he knows not to talk about it around us. Now I'm off my soapbox.

Kathy & Mike--- Glad to hear that Bunny is back safe and sound and had a good time. Other than her purse being stolen. I'm anxious to see the finished fish.

Eric--- Hope all your dentist visits are now behind you. Sorry Roland isn't traveling with us. How is his mom doing?

Only 60 days until I sail on the Carnival Pride and my WDW fix, so am busy making final plans for that trip. Have meet some others on cruise critic who will be sailing with me. Ave, one of them is from Panama City and was sharing some of the spring breakers stories. I guess Girls Gone Wild was allowed to tape there again this year. DS #2 had friends who spent spring break there. Girls Gone Wild is one of his favorite videos to watch. This child share alot of information with me, that I really don't want to always know about. Like the strip joints out in the Pittsburgh area.

For now spring has sprung in PA. Actually able to wear some spring clothes the last few days. I started to go to the tanning booth this past week, yes I know that it probably isn't good for you. However, it helped me from becoming burned to a crisp like some people did last year. So after I get my base tan, usually go just once a week to maintain.

Are we still on for the April 5th mini meet?

That's all that is new for us. I am hooked on American Idol so will be watching that tonight. I have only causually watched Survivor.

Got to get back to work.

Hi, I'm here too.

It was raining here this morning but it's sunny now. The temperature has finally warmed up and most of the snow is gone. There are just little piles of snow left to melt. Had to laugh about the comments about grass cutting -- we are still a while away from that. We are at the stage where everything is brown but there is hope.

Been watching CNN every night. Am disappointed that Canada has decided to stay out of it. Don't agree with that decision at all and don't understand it either. We do have some ships in the Persian Gulf so hopefully our government will change their minds and we can be of some help. Don't agree with the protestors as I feel that this sends the wrong message to the troops who are doing their jobs and doing them well. They need support and not criticism.

Eric -- pixie dust about the dentist. My tooth ache seems to have gone away and am crossing my fingers that it won't return. Teeth problems are not pleasant.

Amy -- don't work so hard although I know it's hard not too when the work is there to be done.

Please post the pictures of the finished fish when it's done. It looks interesting.

Take care everyone. Have to finish up some stuff before going home.

Hi Gang, Good to hear from everyone!
Cathy, I agree with you about supporting our troops. No one LIKES a war but once our troops are comitted, we need to give them our support.
Nancy, Girl's Gone Wild pretty much got run out of PCB. Our no nonsence mayor ( former PCB Police Chief) told them anyone who beared all, and anyone who encouraged that kind of behavior would be arrested. The Girl's Gone Wild people filed a lawsuit, but it was dropped and they left to film the spring breakers in Texas. Only one person has fallen off a balcony so far, and he is going to be ok.
Got to run catch the news.
Later, Ave'

Hi Folks,

I was to busy posting for a couple of days. Yesterday I met with some people from my old highschool to plan our 20-year-class-reunion. It was so funny to see how some people changed - And even funnier how some didn't change at all ;)

Mary,
Gramps 90th BD is 05/13/03 so we still have time for the preparations. He said he didn't want a present, but we chartered a helicopter and he will do a 1-hour scenic flight over Frankfurt and the surrounding area together with two of his granddaughters and Anja as his flight attendants. This will be a big surprise for him.

Roland's Mom is recovering fine.

This afternoon I'll have some time to post again - C U then.

Morning everyone,

Had to come into work early this morning so had time to surf the DIS. Did you see the thread of the lime green Mickey stickers @ Home Depot? That might be something we could use for our mini meet in April. If everyone can find them. I will try to stop @ Home Depot in the next day or two. Acutally, I could go that way on my nightly walk and get exercise and stickers. Since Home Depot is only about 10 blocks from my house. I live in the suburbs, and have a woods behind me, but all the major stores are really within walking distance from my house. Some days, when I park at Wal Mart I feel like I am walking there from my house.

Hope everyone has a good day.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS.

April 5th dis meet--Cathy, Sarah and I are still on for it--just waiting to hear from Bettemom!!

Padisneyfan...was going to email you my address and phone number but noticed that you didn't have an email listed so I will PM you! This way you will have at least a contact!! Feel free to email me your information so we can contact each other!!

Cathy..I fully agree with you about our troops..they volunteered to serve our country and we should support them 100%...just hope we don't have a bloodbath going into Baghdad. I do think that people have the right to protest the war but they should still support our troops. My motto is, if you don't like the USA..just leave and try to find somewhere better..there is nothing stopping you.

03-26-2003, 02:34 PM
Just wondering ... does anyone remember if the had iced tea with the lemonade, milk, coffee, etc outside Topsiders?

... Wonder how Disney is handling the news updates about the war while you are on ship? They sail from the USA but are actually registered in the Bahamas and take passengers for all over the world ... humn.

Rainy here right now ... hope that washes off the yucky brown dust and cinders and makes it green real soon.

Have a nice night .... GOD BLESS THE TROOPS AND THE INNOCENT PEOPLE.

Spring has arrived eventually: 22ºC/72ºF.
It's so good to have some green coming back to the trees.
Yesterday I bought a new cellphone which will also work in the USA. Over here we use cell-phones in the 900 and 1800MHZ-bands, which don't work with your 1900MHZ-band.
I got a new Nokia from Finland which works in all three bands, and the best: The phone has a built-in digital camera to record small videos and pictures in VGA-resolution (640x480), which then can be sent as MMS or email.

Took some pictures and will make a cd to send you Cathy with all the forsythia in bloom and daffodils along with flowering bradford pear and weeping cherry trees here.

While in Clarksville we stopped to get some dinner and it is quite there due to the 101st Air-mobile division being in Iraq. Flags and yellow ribbons everywhere all over town.

We will be babysitting tomorrow and I will need all of my strength as Katie is starting to crawl and scoot on the floor. She is still stuck in reverse and I have to dig her out from under the couch and the aquarium stand.

Eric, with that cell phone of yours, it reminds me of a funny story. Bill and I went on the western caribbean cruise in January and we have T-Mobile which has the world phone option. We needed it to call home to check in on Bill's mom since she lives with us and for peace of mind. We used DCL's sea to land phone for when ours didn't work at sea and our cell when we were in ports. In Cozumel from the room we decided to call his mom. The phone tried to find the network in Mexico and it came up MexTel and then kept rebooting itself. It got stuck in a loop and we couldn't do anything. It broke! :(

Cathy--- They do have ice tea at the beverage station as I drank it through the entire cruise. I had taken Disney Wonder mugs to fill up with Lemonade (for Norm) and Ice Tea for me. I am a Diet Pepsi person, so don't like to drink the coke they have on the ship. The mugs had been our kids when we were on the Wonder. The only problem that I have from drinking the iced tea and tap water on the ship as it is all filter water which must still have alot of sodium in it as my hands and ankles are really swollen during the entire cruise. I could hardly get my dressy sandles on for formal night, my feet were so swollen. Anyone else have that problem? I wish I would had had some Lasix (water pill) to take.

I did stop at Home Depot and mine does have the stickers. So picked up some in assorted colors. I like to scrapbook so they will work well with that also.

Nancy (CI)-- You were close to me also, Inner Harbor is only 50 minutes from my house. We have tickets for an Oriole game in mid May, so will spend the day down there. Shop, eat and take in the game.

Tina - we did Pizza Uno. We miss the one in Crossroads. Actually one of our former servers from the boat is a manager at the one in Crossroads now. He used to work at DAK until 911 and they had to severely cut back on their international program. In order to stay in the country he had to find a new job fast, thus he ended up at Pizza Uno.

Nancy ( CE ) - We considered going back home via I-83 since there's nothing exciting about 95. Have a friend that used to live in Cockeysville and is now in Sparks, MD. We then decided in the rain that it would be too far out of the way. Some day we will make it out to Lancaster.

Sure, Cathy!!
You can even call me now - It's just a bit more expensive;)
I had a cellphone with me last time too. It's also a so-called Triband working in all three nets (900/1800/1900). It worked fine in Pennsylvania, troughout Florida, on St. Marteen and also when we cruised near the coast. It didn't work on St. Thomas. We took it with us because in 99 we called home from our room in the Dixie Landings Resort and had to pay about 40 Bucks for two calls of about 3-5 minutes each. The cell-phone is way cheaper!!
Right now my old triband is in the USA: My uncle is an engineer in the auto-industry and is in the Chicago-area to install some big machinery. The Friday before he departed his triband broke down and so I lent him mine. He had to leave on the weekend and there wasn't any time left to get a new one fom the shop.

Today I got a 3%-raise and was informed that our profit-sharing is twice the size of last year's :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Nancy ... Thanks for the tea info ... had a senior moment and couldn't remember. I remembered Art and I getting lemonade but couldn't remember if they had my tea. Also, maybe that's why my paws swelled too. Didn't think of that.

Glad the Survivors got rid of that guy ... I was willing to e-mail the show and give them my vote for tribal council! I wonder how many of his fellow construction workers wanted to stick a board where the sun dosen't shine with him.

Just dropped in to say hi. Haven't had a chance to read the last 10 or so pages of posts (jeez you guys talk a lot!!) but I didn't want you to think I died or anything.

Not much going on here in Seattle, glued to the news like everyone else I suppose. Had my most recent reconstructive surgery and now half my body is ready to sit by the pool! The other half should be done before August so by October, you may not find me anywhere else, the sun-worshiper I am. We'll see.

Travelling with an 18 yr old will likely be a bit like travling single except I don't have to worry about the dating crap. Happily married, I can dance my nights away with 20 different guys and still return happily alone to my cabin for a glass of champange and a great book!

Speaking of cell-phones, I have national long distance on mine so if anyone wants to chat...... ;)

Rosemary...watch out! Internet shopping is addictive;) I am proud of you!

All this talk of cell phones gave me an idea. Would anyone like to get a list of all the cell phone numbers of the folks who will be bringing the cell phones with them on the trip. This could be very handy in getting together before we cruise, and could be a life saver if anyone has a pre-cruise problem. I know mine was a big help when I forgot DH's birth certificate last year. Of course it would have to be kept private (not posted on the boards) but we could e-mail someone with our cell numbers. Since may of us don't know what each other look like it could be very helpful. Last year at the Radisson I kept wondering if the people I was sitting near at the pool where fellow DIS'ers!:p

Tammeb, congrats on your next step!I just know you are going to have a wonderful time on the cruise! Also nice to see you posting!

I also have been gluded to the TV. I even get up during the night an put on CNN for a few min. I was so shocked to see New Yorkers protesting the war. NEW YORKERS!!????of ALL people..they know first hand what terrorism can do!!!I am proud to say Charleston had a big rally to show support for our troops. It was well attended and very emotional.

Rosemary ... Do me a favor and slap those protesters up the side of the head. Maybe the newspapers should not print their pictures but re-print the carnage of 9-11 to remind everyone what it's all about! (OK ... off my soap box, again!) Hey, how's the putty cat? I'm also glad I'm not the only one that hates buying a bathing suit.

Mary ... Our tiny town (all of maybe 3 blocks long) put yellow bows on all of the telephone poles on the main street!

About the cellphones ... that's how we kept tabs on Mike and knew what time he got to the hotel! NOT A BAD IDEA ... as long as we don't put on the net.

I have a very nice lit flag on my porch ... it's like the x-mass net lights but it's in the shape and colors of the American Flag ...looks great at night!

I was extremely busy this week, had to throw in a lot of overtime, which made it impossible to update the list/deckplan. Stacey should just continue enjoying and appreciating every moment that she can of Katie's life. Time does fly by so fast, but if she keeps feeling down about her daughter "growing up", she will always be looking back and never forward and the future has so many exciting things awaiting them....

Wishing Eric and Anja a very nice vacation in their nation's capital.

Last Saturday on SAT CHAT, the subject of a web page came up again which would display photos of Cruisetoberfesters. It will help us get to know each other even more before we meet in RealLife. Eric said he has only received 5 pictures, not enough to make the effort of putting a webpage together worthwhile. I have to admit, that I am guilty of not yet sending him a photo, and I LOVE the idea. I think it was mentioned once or twice and perhaps people didn't see it, or like me, haven't found an appropriate photo to send in yet.

Eric said that he would love to start working on this in April upon returning from his vacation if more people send in photos. So, I think we should make this our project for the next week. Dig up and send Eric some photos of ourselves. Just make sure you send them to his AOL email address (which is on the cruise list he mails out) and NOT the Cruisetoberfest email link in his signature because that is a Yahoo account and there is a size limit with that and pictures take up a lot of space.

Amy - Don't work so hard. Life is too short. I know, easier said than done (I think I'm repeating what Goofynut already said.) Hope you get to enjoy a great weekend with Chris and Emily.

Nancy (padisneyfan) - Sorry you are having AOL-booting-you-off problems. I've read where some people first write out their posts on a regular wordprocessing program. This way they can take their time and check for spelling errors. Once they like what they have, they cut and paste. I only did that once myself when I was posting an article from the local paper and I wanted to make sure I was retyping it correctly. I would hate to type out a post and then have it lost because I was kicked off line. This might be a solution for you to try.

Also, I remember you writing a while back about the FASFA forms. Did you ever manage to do it online? I just finished filling out our forms today. What a pain! And like I believe you said, it will be for nothing (except for allowing our son the "privilege" of a loan!).

Have fun on your Carnival Cruise in 60 days!

Fiona (cdmickeylover) - I saw you posted last week on the Survivor thread!! Happy to see you there. I didn't notice if you posted this week yet. Have you checked it out yet?

Don't mind me. I'm just on a posting roll....

Nancy (Windy) and Tina (Hopkins) and Nancy (padisneyfan) - Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the National Aquarium in Baltimore our "National" aquarium officially, or is that just a name? I understand that the Inner Harbor area is suppose to be a pretty neat place to visit. We have never been there, just passed around it on the way down to DC or Virginia or Florida.

I think a red Mickey Duffle bag is just the ticket for a Disney Cruise! I guess you are pretty far north in Alabama if a trip to Tennessee for shopping is not a big deal. Do you know where Bessemer, Alabama, is? My baby brother lives there.

hopelea

Bessemer is around Birmingham, right? I live about two hours north of B'ham. We live in the corner of AL that touches TN & GA. Pigeon Forge is about 3 1/2 hours. I was just checking out room rates for Pigeon Forge for another shopping trip with my mom.

Now I wanted to write to Cathy (Goofynut) and others about the war. I was saving it for last because this is not cruise-y stuff, it is politics and I generally don't like talking politics. Exceptions are made to every generalization...

I may regret posting the following. It doesn't really belong on this thread but I am going ahead anyway. It's gonna be long probably.

First off, the Manhattanites who held the protest "die-in" are (please excuse my language) a bunch of *******s. They represent such a small portion of the population but made nationwide news. The very next day, another rally was held at the very same spot. Mothers of the troops gathered to show their support and tied yellow ribbons around trees and signposts in the area. Did that make nationwide news? I don't think so.

And you know, of course, who was making a big deal out of this "die-in". The news media. As NY'ers, we were aware it was going to happen, aware when it did happen but basically wrote it off and tried to ignore it. You have to remember, this was in Manhattan. Manhattan has all types of people living there. Rich said something about them being "cliff dwellers who have no life"- LOL. And, of course, NY is a liberal state. After all, NY'ers (NOT ME, mind you!) elected that carpetbagger to our senate office. Anyway, I digress, the liberal news media didn't want this protest rally to be ignored and they played it up to the hilt.

Let me quote a few things from one of my favorite news columnists:
"....There were more excuses than demonstrators on the streets of Midtown yesterday. Despite the valiant efforts of a few high school hooky players, college class-cutters, trust-funded artists and vintage radicals....yesterday's so-called "die-in" was dead on arrival."

"Its message was as confused as its participants were clueless. At one point, women wailed at the tops of their lungs over the deaths of Iraqi children. But one poster I saw that supposedly depicted such an atrocity in fact bore a famous photo of a family butchered by - guess who? - Saddam Hussein."

I take everything I hear on the news with a grain of salt. As a matter of fact, I have been avoiding the news this week. Yes, we watched President Bush last week and I do keep posted as to what is going on but I do not obsess about it. It would drive me crazy.

Richie's best friend's brother is stationed with the 101st Airborne over there. Another one of his friends is on a ship over there. I found out last week that Air Force Master Sgt. Michael Maltz who died in the helicopter crash in Afghanistan was the brother of a woman who was the PTA President when I was PTA Recording Secretary. Yesterday, I first heard on the radio and then read in the paper about a woman I worked with for years, has a son over there. A newsman embedded with the troops interviewed him and then the radiostation called her to let her hear it. She was thrilled to hear his recorded voice, not having been in touch with him since early February. She happen to make the paper the same day because has started a network of troop moms - to share news and feelings with one another, because no one understands what they are going through, unless you have a son/daughter over there too.

IMHO, the participants of that protest may as well as stabbed each and everyone of the above and the rest of the coalition forces in the back.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that despite the news media trying to make a small group of people - who have the right of freedom of speech - appear larger than they are, they are NOT representative of the millions of other NY'ers and Americans who support our troops and back our President. We have the right of freedom of speech too, perhaps we should utilize it more.

Tulirose stepping down from her soapbox now. Don't plan on stepping up again on it anytime soon.

As a Vietnam veteran I know what our troops are facing with regards to enemy fighting forces identification. My solution would not sit well with folks so I will not say anything. What rubs me raw is what that professor from Columbia University had to say the other day hoping that there would be thousands of Mogadishu's. Wish that gentleman would come down south and say that. Off my soapbox now.

Key West seems to have two prices for things. One for locals and one for everyone else.

Grand Cayman is a little expensive for a caribbean island and prices for items should be a little cheaper in Cozumel. Mike

Cathy hope that you do not get too much in the way of snow there. They are predicting about 3 inches for the smokey mountains in eastern Tennessee.

Hope that your studies are going well Elaine and that your new home construction is on track.

Mary have the azaleas started to bloom in Charleston yet? Quite a few of our trees here are starting to get leaves. The maple trees are full of the little helicopter seeds.

Hi folks, just returned from ski trip in Keystone Colorado. Just missed the 90 inches of snowfall by a few days but turned out to be perfect timing for great skiing!! Many cars completely covered by snow. Vacations are great, but it was difficult to take my mind off the troops.....God Bless them!

Mike: Ditto on the t shirt experience @ Keywest. Last year DW's Visa was overchaged by $$$ and they tried to tell her it was a mistake. He then tried to deduct the differenct and still overcharged. We decided to cancel the order and shop elsewhere. Congrats on the raise!

Fiona & Eric: Ditto regarding the aching teeth. I go in for a new crown tomorrow.

MaryJo & Ave: Thanks to your dd's for the kids list, dd and ds are excited to begin their email chats with other kids.

Thought I would just check in and had to catch up on three pages..just finishing up the dishes (actually the dishwasher is!!)--it snowed here off and on all day today and while it stuck on the ground, thankfully, it didn't stick on the road!

Our family and GoofyNuts went out for dinner on Friday night and then Cathy and I made arrangements to work out at Curves on Saturday only to find out that they closed early. So Sarah, Cathy and I spent the afternoon shopping and then took a walk in the rain around a local park/lake. When Cathy dropped us off at our house, I decided that I needed to take a nap--got up and hubby wanted to know what was for dinner (close your eyes and what do you see!!) so we decided to use some coupons we had for Ruby Tuesdays and needless to say, when we went to check in, who was there but Cathy and Art--it was just too funny!!

Sam was glad to meet Art and will fit right in since I think he owns one suit (for weddings, funerals and cruises)--he is a blue collar worker who works for a glass manufacturer and some days he looks like he works in the mines. Sarah razzes him all the time with....don't think you are going to wear that outfit to take me to the store!! The joys of having a 13 year old!!

Hello All

Windy - It is snowing here too but, unlike you, I am not happy about it! It won't last, however. Thank goodness.

Mike - Always a gentleman you are. Give my love to Kathy. Up here the forsythia buds are getting nice and plump, ready to burst open soon. Meant to bring some branches in a week or so ago to force them open, but forgot.

Okwmister - Glad you had a great ski vacation.

Mary - :D

Hopelea - Thanks for the geography lesson. One day, I really should pull out a map and pinpoint exactly where baby bro is.

**Edited to remove last part of post. Hubby made me do it.**

**Edited again just to let you know that what I deleted was apolitical. I really thought it was kinda neat info you guys would get a kick out of. Tulirich thought it was too much information in a public forum which could be utilized by not-so-nice people. I still fail to see how that would be possible but I decided better be safe than sorry and deleted.** :(

Good morning everyone!!! Well, work is starting to even out now, and I'm learning how to deal with the extra workload. No more 15 hour work days in the past week or so.

The weather here in FL isn't that wonderful either. It has rained and been quite windy. And, a cold front moved in and we'll be in the 60s for the next couple of days. I know that may seem warm to some of you, but it's been in the 80s and we've been wearing shorts. Then, all of a sudden, yesterday I had to pull out my cool-weather clothes again. I even dressed Emily is footy-pajamas last night.

We had a busy weekend here. My brother is moving in with us temporarily. He's getting married and moving back to Chicago in the next couple of months. So, in order to help save him some money on rent, he moved into our place until he can find a job in Chicago. He's got a second interview with a place tomorrow morning, so hopefully he'll get the job and be able to move to be with his fiance'. He wanted to already be in Chicago by now, but the job market hasn't been that kind. Oh well, I'm sure things will be ok.

Emily is growing like a weed. She'll be 18 months on Saturday and she's really trying to talk. I notice that she tries to repeat a lot of the words that we say. So, we've really been trying to talk to her a lot. I have a 3 yr old neice, and I know that I'll regret saying this, but I can't wait for Emily to start really talking. I know that she won't shut up after that, but it'll be so nice to know what's she's feeling, instead of trying to decipher it.

Well, that's it for now. Take care and everyone keep warm!!

Rosemary ... loved your info on the "real" NY take on the war. Thought I was the only one that it was gettin to. So how is the kitty Kat after his accident?

TOO FUNNY ... MaryJo and I got our family together for a spur of the moment supper on Friday night ... had a great walk & shopping Saturday afternoon BUT banging in to each other at dinner at Ruby Tuesdays was just hilarious. Glad to hear that Sam now knows we are not axe murders and feel more comfortable with knowing someone before the actual cruise.

Mike ... Is the "fish" finished? Pictures please.

Disney Outlet Shop ... Boy am I jealous. Sounds like the red duffle bag is neat.

Also love the PassPorter ... initially didn't think it would do me any good after being on Disney Cruise before BUT it surprised me. Now it's a take-along book for those times I end up sitting in a waiting room, etc.

Cathy there is still a little to do on the fish including adding the hidden mickey! Waiting for the weather and a day off for Stacey to finish it. I will take some photo's before it is clear-coated and when it is Displayed. Along with the location in Nashville where it is placed.

Hope that everyone is doing well, we still have not heard from Kathy's two nephews. One is serving with the 82nd Airborne in the Army and the other one with the Marines. Both are in Iraq at the moment so I guess that they have their hands full.

It was cool enough today that I wore a sweat shirt. I saw a car with a Florida tag and when they got out, both of them had on what looked like parka's:teeth: they must be from Miami.

Hi everyone, Had a busy weekend. Clean, painted, rearranged, de-cluttered dresser and closet, in DS's room. Bought him a new bed, comforter, sheets, pillowcases, and lamp. Before we moved in to this house 2 years ago Case had a bed in the corner of our bedroom. When we moved-in his room got all the left-over furniture. But he loved his little race car bed, so we didn't worry about it. But he started asking about a "big" bed (twin size) a few months ago, so we went a little crazy on Sat. and transformed his room into a real "boys room" complete with baseball theme. He loves it!:p
Mary Jo, I think your Sam and my Mark will get along great. He is the same kind of blue collar, no frills, hates to dress up kind of guy. Too funny that you all ended up at Ruby Tuesdays.

Hi everyone!! Been busy the last few days and had some pages to read!!

Woke up yesterday morning to snow -- not funny and today also woke up to snow -- there is a light dusting on the ground which hopefully will melt today. The temperature here has been all over the place in the last week. Today it's at -4C but it's supposed to go up to 8C this afternoon. Last week was out just wearing a sweatshirt but today am back in my winter coat. Am really looking forward to putting the winter coat away.

Gee a Disney Outlet Store -- how lucky. I'd be there all the time just looking mostly as I do with the Disney Store here. At the Disney Store here we have lots of kids things but not a lot of adult things -- we were there last night and there were no adult t-shirts, sweats or anything. All it had was stuffed animals (which is fine) and kids clothes. Too bad I don't have anyone to buy for. My SIL is a Disney freak as well so I don't dare buy anything for my niece and nephew -- they are likely to already have it!! Actually ran into my SIL at the Disney Store last week.

Must go and get some work done and hope the snow melts soon.

Not telling what pin I'm making this year!

Mike ... Guess you have another "suit buddy" in Sam! He's not one for a tux either. Guess we'll just have to get him a Mickey Tie from Wal-Mart and you guys can be triplets!

SNOW is rapidly moving up the list of bad 4 letter words. Snowed again yesterday ... last night when I left Curves, I had to brush off and find my car and again today it's yucky. Enough already ... bring back the sun.

Right now the best I can do is mess around with the sand in my Zen Beach (Ask MaryJo, she saw it!)

Just dropping in to post a few lines.

Rosemary-- I completed both son's FASFA forms on the internet, it took an hour to do each of them. Had to do them at work, since I was afraid I would get bumped off AOL before I had them completed. However, just received one of them back through the mail and have additional information that needs filled in. I thought it wouldn't let you go to the next page until you completed all the information. Like you said all that work, with no money in return except the right to borrow money. I will have to try typing my response on microsoft work and then cut and paste. I am hardly going online @ home, because of the AOL problem. DSs said when they get home from college we will need to look for a new internet provider. The only problem is that I have my email address out there with so many people, I might not get to notify everyone and then will loose contact with some of my friends who are far away.

I was just getting in the mood and bought some spring clothes and what happens it gets cold again. So I am back into turtlenecks and sweaters. I thought March was to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb. Instead was a lion both beginning
and end.

Mary Jo--- It was so nice talking to you on the phone. Am anxious to meet you and see Cathy again. I'm sure we won't have anything to talk about. LOL As you could tell from our phone conversation, I am very quiet person. NOT

We have such a great group of people on this cruise. I am anxious to meet everyone. Until then, will plan my other get away in May.

Mary Jo when you come to Nashville be aware that there is tons of road construction in the opryland area. They are widening State Route 155 (Briley Parkway) and also I-65 north and south bound. Just go to the following website and you can get updated construction information. Here it is: Traffic and Construction (http://tennessean.com/traffic/) this will help you I think.

Cathy thank you so much for the package. I am sure that it will be enjoyed immensely. Everything should get soaking wet with drool.

Looks like high winds and waves have made the magic alter her itinerary. Something for us to think about. Mike

Sun is out today and suppose to go to near 70.

Norm has gotten both of our lawn mowers tuned up for the season. So he is ready whenever the grass finally turns green.

Does anyone have a Connections membership? How do the dining certificates work? I thought about trying a couple of these for the upcoming June trip to save some money, is it worth it?

How much is the membership?

Arlene,

It is a membership that you purchase and then you can buy discounted items from them. One of the items are what they call Quick and Casual Dining Vouchers. I believe they sell for around $10 and can be used at a lot of places on property.

I could be wrong though.

Hello to all! I have been trying to keep up with the board but it has been difficult. Work is SO busy I don't even have time to play on the internet at lunch time (we are lucky to get 10 min. to grab a bite!) and homelife almost as hectic.

LOVED the jokes! Thanks for the simile:)

Cathy, thanks so much for the box. Girl, how much time did it take to do the egg? Some of those long cold snowy days??? It is beautiful!

I am planning on helping Stacey finish the fish this weekend. It has been: too cold, too windy, too tired, too this and too that for two weeks or more! Keep your fingers crossed.

Hello to everyone else. I am staying busy, busy, busy! Mike keeps me on the road all the time with the NFN work and the rest of the time it is our little doll, Katie.:teeth: Oh yes, in between times I get to work at the hospital.

Nancy, Bunny said to tell you hello. She and her hubby went to England right after her last double dose of radiation and immediately got her purse stolen with $600.00. All in all she had a good time and is now back to work. She still forgets somethings. We found out that she DID have a stroke a year or so ago and worked right through it. What a woman! Frankly, she doesn't take care of herself. She is too busy to, she says.

The weather here is just beautiful. Mike started cutting the onions that pass for grass in our yard and Mikey finished it up. As usual we were nearly the last to cut again. One of these years we will be first.:o Now I need to weed the flower beds. I am late on that too.

We are about to get a new baby so will talk to you later. TTFN Kathy

Kathy ... Took me about 2 weeks of TV watching @ night to do the egg. I just can't sit still when I'm watching tv ... have to be working on something. Nice to hear you guys have grass to cut ... I still have mud!

Rosemary, Dan, Dave, Mary, Ave, Shari & EVERYBODY ELSE ... Are you out there, are you OK, are you lurking ... What's Up With That! Pleasssssssssssssssssse at least check in and let us know how you're doing and if we can do anything to get you back into posting!

I'm here. The weather is not nice here at all. I had to scrap ICE off my windshield this morning. This should not happen in April. We are supposed to have ice pellets or snow or freezing rain right through til Saturday. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck. They are calling for areas north of Toronto to get 2-10cm of snow tonight? Can't believe it. Usually it's getting warm at this time of year here although not warm enough to cut the lawn (or at least nag at DS to cut the lawn :)

We are also dealing with the SARS outbreak here. A seventh person died last night and our local hospital is closed because of it. One of the elementary schools in Toronto was closed for the rest of the week because a parent volunteer is a suspected case. Kinda scary really.

Gotta go.

Thanks for checking in.

We are being careful. They are telling us that it's nothing to be concerned about unless you have been in contact with it which we haven't. All of the cases so far have been traced back to one patient in one hospital. The problem has been that they transferred a patient from the affected hospital to our local hospital before they realized it was SARS and therefore didn't take any isolation precautions. Everyone who was in any of the hospitals affected in under a voluntary 10 day quarantine. A neighbour who went to the hospital for regular physio is under the 10 day quarantine so they are being pretty vigilant. We are listening to the news carefully though and praying that nobody gets sick or injured because most of the local hospitals are closed to emergencies.

We are fine though and I don't know anyone with symptons but it's obviously not something to mess around with.

I've been lurking a bit. I've been following the coverage of the war. And when I need a little escape, I check out the boards or watch a movie. Has anyone seen "Maid in Mannhattan"? It was a cute movie and a nice diversion. That SARS is scary, too.

Stay safe.

Okay . . I am here. Still prefer to stay <I>mostly</I> in lurking mode with a few exceptions. :smooth:

My DH departs 17 April for flyfishing on some remote island in Tahiti. He isn't too worried about SARS since heading in that direction, but I think I'd be wearing a mask! He gets back to ID on 7 May. On 8 May I start my long solo drive to FL where I will pretty much remain for the next year or so (with several DCL cruises booked, of course :teeth:.). So that's what's happening with me. I'll check in once in awhile.

On another note: If any prior DCL cruisers (preferably recently) have a favorite server or CM (if you <I>know</I> they are still with DCL) you'd like to add to the Favorites list on one of my sites, you can <a href="http://www.magicaldisney.com/pages/11/index.htm" target="index">click here</A> and follow the instructions that are in green below the list. Some of the CMs <I>do</I> look at that site, and it's also nice to have a list in one place :p .

I hope everyone is doing well.

We are all a bit not ourselves, lately. Not as talkative. Shari, I'm going to check out your site. I've seen parts of it before, but I always forget to bookmark it. It's one of my favorites, so consider yourself BOOKMARKED. Taihiti sounds like fun. Why aren't you going?

My sister and I are planning on going on a cruise. I tried really hard to convince her of a 7-day DCL cruise, but she wasn't game. We are going on the Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas on May 11 for 7 days from San Juan, PR. It's a Voyager Class ship like the Voyager of the Seas, so it has the ice skating rink, rock wall, mini-golf, in-line skating... . RCI has four of this size ship, now. BIG! We got an inside cabin for $699 each. All I have to do is hold down the excursion costs to make it a "cheap" trip. We are using frequent flier miles to PR. Posts of call: San Juan, St Thomas, St Maarten, Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, sea day and San Juan. Lots of ports! My sister is a plan as you go kind of person and I'm a plan before you get there. She is allowing me two ship sponsored excursions with no veto from her. Otherwise, it's cabbing it to the beach. Boring! Well, the first hour is nice, but after that, I've seen it, done it. LOL! I like to see the history and the sites and she like the beach. Hubby stays at home.

I can't wait to compare RCI with Disney since I'm such a Disney freak. You know I'll be travelling with my Captain Mickey stuffed animal.

Sorry that I haven't been around much either. I've either been working like crazy during the day or I've been on other boards for scrapbooking lately in the evenings. But, I always get my fix of this thread at least once or twice a day.

Cathy - A week ago today, Ollie had the wire sutures removed from his mandible and he is a happy camper. Two Fridays before that, he had the wire sutures removed from his lip and therefore was able to be free of being a conehead! He was SO Happy!! He couldn't wait to go outside. He was no longer embarrassed with that stupid thing on his head. Being the protective mommy, I wouldn't let him go outside until Saturday and he enjoyed his freedom, visited the neighbors but kept returning home at frequent intervals. He has since started to stay out longer but not as long as he used to. Thanks for asking.

Hey, Tuli - I think I mentioned this before in a PM, but the <I>only</I> reason I have not submitted a photo to Eric is because I am confused about what is needed.

I think something was said in the past about "<I>the bigger the better</I>" and that he could always edit and resize the pictures. The problem is that every time a jpeg file is edited and resaved, the quality is degraded. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am not all that photogenic and need all the help I can get! I would rather send the <I>desired</I> size photo in the first place so it does not have to be resized. I am assuming he wants jpeg format since that is most suitable for good quality photos on the Web and since the file size is more workable than most other formats.

Has there been any determination regarding requested pixel dimensions (as in 400x600, 600x800, etc.) and dpi? I don't think the few of us on dial-up turtle connections are too game for sending a 3 MB file. :jester: So does anyone have any specifics? Also, are most of you going to send portrait type (face pics) or something from a bit of a distance?

Hey everybody - I also had thought about the pictures, but hadn't really decided on any of us yet. As you can imagine, we have a ton of pictures of Emily, but not too many of all of us together. I was just thinking about getting a snapshot of the 3 of us sometime. Something close enough to see our faces, but not too close, if you know what I mean.

Kathy-- Please tell Bunny that I am glad she enjoyed the trip, despite her purse being stolen. So at least she has a good excuse for some of those senior moments. I just have them.

Rosemary--- So glad that Ollie is doing well. As for the photo, we don't own a digital camera. Maybe I can find someone who has one who can take the picture, then would just have to figure out how to send it.

Shari--- I didn't understand any of that digital photo format you were discussing. Is there a certain type of camera that I will need to look at borrowing? We have talked about getting a digital camera to go on the cruise, but havent' done any research on them yet. So nice to see you posting again. My son thinks your photos are awesome.

Nancy (CI)-- We are in WDW 5/31-6/5. Plus I Kim and Bette are there around that time. Forget the exact dates.

Looking forward to our mini meet in Lancaster tomorrow.

Mike--- Anxious to see the completed fish.

Amy--- I'm a scrapbooker also. I'm a little behind right now, need to get caught up before I go on the next vacation.

Fionna--- Has it warmed up any your way? We have a couple days of warm weather, then the cold comes back.

Ave--- Are you going to apply for the team leader job? The longer I am in nursing, the more things really don't change. They just recyle it and give it a new title. It is the same thing you did 10 years ago, but for a new person it looks like something new. So hang in there girl, before you know it you will be back to the way it was before the change.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Regular photos can be scanned... but one needs a scanner. Regular photos when developed can also be put on a CD which eliminates the scanning portion and then chosen photo can be emailed to Eric.

Eric and Anja should be returning shortly. Hope that they had a great time. Eric can then answer the pixel questions and snailmail questions and such, if he doesn't find too much work waiting for him on his car's windshield!

Hi Folks,

WE'RE BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We had a whale of a time. Berlin is such a great -and large- city!!!
We visited:
-The Palais and Gardens of Sans Souci of King Friedrich II
-The Zoo (former West-Berlin)
-The Tierpark (former East-Berlin's Zoo)
-The TV-Tower of more than 1000feet height
-The Reichstag (Our Congress)
-The Berlin Dungeon, a freaky horror-show in a WWII-bombshelter
-The Museum for Palaeontology, Zoology and Biology, displaying the largest dinosaur-skeleton of the world of 120feet length and 40feet height, a Brontosaurus.
-The Museum for Technical Development
-The Story of Berlin, a wonderful multimedia-exhibition covering the more than 750 years from the founding days til the fall of The Wall
-Every Departmentstore and nearly every shoe and clothes shop in the inner city ;)
-And the ONLY Dunkin Donuts in Germany. Berlin has three of them, the rest of the country: Z-E-R-O :( , but this may be an advantage for our waistlines :jester:
We averaged about 10 miles of walking per day and also rode the subway, the city-trains and the buses a lot.
The weather was near perfect, with only one rainy day and a short thunderstorm with some hail.
Both flights were smooth and perfectly on time (Don't forget: It's Germany ;) )
But flying such short distances is like being shot out of a cannon: You take off, climb to cruising altitude, cruise for a couple of minutes, descend and land. All in 40-45 minutes. The flight attendents barely have time to serve some beverages and collect the glasses.

Talking about the pics for a web-page:
Please use my AOL-adress for sending them. It's on the List, I don't want to publish it here as it contains my full name.
The size of the pics shouldn't exceed about 240x160 (Horizontal alignment), respectively 160x240 (Vertical alignment), the pics should be at least of HiColor-Quality, better TrueColor. The file-format should be JPEG, but you can also send other formats, which will then be converted. The conversion may lead to quality loss as Shari already mentioned.
Please refrain from making you look younger, leaner, prettier to avoid disappointment at the terminal :jester:
Please also don't send in pics of Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts or other celebrities with your name on it - I'll get you!!!!!!!!! And will then replace the pic by one of Roseanne Barr, John Goodman or somebody similar :p
